Ett Hem in Stockholm must be one the most beautiful hotels in the world. Designed by Ilse Crawford of Studioilse, the traditional bones of the room, including the Swedish tiled stove in the corner, work beautifully with playful modern pieces. For a similar knitted pouf we recommend getting the real hand-made deal from Claire Anne O’Brien, who can take bespoke commissions.

I absolutely love this bedroom and it has actually inspired my own bedroom makeover. The bold use of indigo is classy and sophisticated and creates a sleep-inducing atmosphere. Blue is a very calming and soothing colour to use in the bedroom and can aid restful sleep. The use of chunky knits, Damask prints and patterned cushions adds to the cosy feel of this room. Image credit

A tiny swatch won’t do white paint justice. Nail your pick by coating a poster board with the potential hue, and see how it looks during the day and at night. Here, a warmer tone keeps the bedroom glam yet cozy.

Designer Ebba Thott has kept a simple elegant feel in this London bedroom. With the problem of a large window at the end of the space, she has created a sense of entrance and drama through symmetry – placing the bed, which is flanked by two stylish mid-century wooden nightstands, directly in the middle of the room; and using a blind that is dramatic in its scale, but simple in its design. Pictures stacked on the floor rather than hung give a clean, relaxed feel.

This Parisian loft features ‘Floating Armchair’ by David Hodkinson for Red Edition in the centre of the playroom. The design makes good use of the small space with playful hanging components on the wall, a blackboard that is both useful and decorative and a snug day bed tucked under the eaves. White walls welcome natural light into the small bedroom, which is important in loft conversion. The clean, white wooden floors give the room a more spacious feel, in keeping with the clean lines of the Scandinavian-style armchair.

The pink and cream in this room is a little girl’s dream. But the sophisticated armoire and chandelier mean that it will suit her for years to come, and can be easily updated by changing the bedding and accessories.
