My favourite minimal bedroom. A tranquil but bright space, painted floor-to ceiling in white. All the texture is in the layering of the fabrics, the crumpled linen and the tactile woollen throw. A simple bedside table holds a few bedroom essentials, with an unobtrusive light above for reading and one stunning picture is the focal point. Perfection. Image credit

Teens love spending time in their rooms because they feel safe and comfortable. Naturally drawn to feel-good fabrics and textures, be sure to add some touchy-feely elements in a room. Some ideas include:
Create a fresh, Moroccan-style look using brightly coloured fabric and accessories against a crisp white background. A DIY trim of cotton pom poms (‘Sherbert Pips’, £7.95 a metre from Clothkits) on the bedcover adds an inspired touch, while the matching Designers Guild curtains and cushion (‘Savine’, £140 a metre) ties it all together.
I love every ideas you have shared over here. The and design were so perfect and very inspiring. I am so happy I stumbled on your blog because you inspire me a lot. I can apply ideas I learned on my next home decorating ideas project. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post.
Hi! I’m only 11, but we are moving in like two weeks, and I really want to know what to put in my room. This has been a great inspiration for me, and I really like this site!! Could you post something that I could do with just really easy to get stuff that is probably lying around my house right now? I need to know what to pack!! I love DIYing, and keep up the awesome ideas!!
The concrete floors and exposed brick painted in white may create a cool warehouse feel but the nonchalantly styled books and pictures, as well as the texured bedding and soft throws keep the scheme from being sterile.

Hannah Cecil Gurney’s west London flat is a feast of luxurious colour, texture and pattern – little surprise given that her father founded the handmade wallpaper company de Gournay. In the main bedroom hand-painted silk cushions and a Burmese lamp pick up on the green in the ‘Badminton’ wallpaper from de Gournay, which ‘provides a cocoon of birds and butterflies that makes [Hannah] so happy’. The paper has been antiqued in order to give a tarnsihed effect.
Grey walls contrast elegantly with a wooden four-poster bed hung with a cream linen in this scheme, where simplicity and luxury are the name of the game. A Colefax & Fowler table lamp complements the soft grey wall paint, while the bed’s cream linen is echoed by the curtains. A sofa at the foot of the bed emphasises comfort.
Kids are a great joy of family life, but one thing that can be difficult is decorating a bedroom of someone that grows so quickly before your eyes! I’m really big on gender neutral design and looking at this room, you wouldn’t be able to tell whether or not it belonged to a girl or a boy. It’s so bright and natural with bits of contemporary and Scandinavian design. Little elements like the blackboard, bean bags and lights are used to give the room a warm feeling even though the design is really simple. I love where the bed is placed in the corner by a large window too. My top tip for decorating kids bedrooms is to maximise storage and to keep things simple, kids change their mind and get bored of a lot of things very quickly, we’ve all been there! Image Credit
@Fay, that is your opinion, of course. I, however, was admiring the variety in the designs, happy that they weren’t all excessively girly, because, of course, that WOULD be stereotypical. There are girls that do like that kind of thing, however, and I thought this list was very good in portraying different styles for different people. You did find TWO that you liked, didn’t you? Each and every one wasn’t meant to suit each and every girl.
