When done right, black wall paint can make a chic statement in your sleep space. The trick? Paint one wall black and leave the others a bright white, then fill your room with colorful decor in fun patterns and textures.
My favourite minimal bedroom. A tranquil but bright space, painted floor-to ceiling in white. All the texture is in the layering of the fabrics, the crumpled linen and the tactile woollen throw. A simple bedside table holds a few bedroom essentials, with an unobtrusive light above for reading and one stunning picture is the focal point. Perfection. Image credit
Although your bedroom color scheme is often a personal opinion, there are some paint colors that are more relaxing and better suited for your sleeping area. Studies have found that people with blue bedrooms often get more sleep because of the calmness it elicits. Brighter colors may lead to a better mood, but they also might keep you up longer at night. If you have a significant other with opposing tastes, consider master bedroom colors falling within the neutral range — such as variations of green, gray or brown — to keep everyone happy. Sharing many bedroom pictures that you’ve saved to your ideabook can be a great way to help your significant other get a sense of your bedroom remodeling ideas.
Bring a little nature into your room with silk plants, animal statuettes and baskets. Faux succulents require no care but add garden beauty to shelves and windowsills. Glass tabletop terrariums do well in a partially shaded area, like on a desk in front of a window or on a graduated set of shelves against a bedroom wall. Accent the look with country-inspired wall-hangings like longhorns and guitar case shelves. Finalize the theme with a few brightly colored fabric http://trendyreporter.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ for a country-inspired bedroom that’s every bit as fresh as the outdoors. Hanging a few of your favorite art pieces is also an excellent way to decorate.
A good desk is a must! This will be the centre point of a girl’s teen life! From homework and study to using as a dressing table, find a desk with drawer storage for books and supplies but also for hair care, a mirror and beauty essentials. Choosing a white desk option will suit any bedroom scheme, is low cost and easy to maintain. Personal space is so important as a teen, so add her own style in accessorising a funky chair design, a bright pattern blanket and some colourful desk tidies and that’s one cool combination of a desk and dressing table design! Could a color end up being each awesome along with comfy at the same time? If the decision is green, sure. Green is one of the almost all adaptable colors throughout adorning. It is also among the most calming colors, and you also have got a wide range of tones to select from.
Wake up an old desk set with a fresh coat of paint, and add in a mirror to create an instant vanity. The top of the desk can hold a large spread of beauty accouterments as well as books, a laptop, and a notebook for study time. Add a few final touches by reupholstering the chair and decorating with girly accents.
One for the colour-shy teenage girls out there – some girls just know from the get-go that monochrome is the epitome of chic style. Apart from the lack of colour, there is nothing retiring about this bedroom though, which mixes pattern like nobody’s business to amazing effect. We are particular fans of that striped drawer unit – ideal for storing a growing wardrobe and make-up collection!
Now this pillow isn’t nearly quite as simple. In fact, it is probably a lot of work to make and either glue or sew all these pink ruffles. It makes for a gorgeously detailed decorative throw pillow though. thegirlinspired.
As a baseline, selecting streamlined furniture is essential to keep the room feeling as spacious as possible and allow for storage and playing. If your kids are old enough, bunk beds are always an excellent choice. Whether L-shaped or vertical, a bunk bed is an efficient use of space and oftentimes has built-in storage underneath.
Hitting the books might be a chore, but in a room as fun as this, homework time just might get a little easier. A large desk and office chair, with storage bins beneath, create a work zone. But when it’s time for fun, ample seating, a fun color scheme, and whimsical touches turn this room into a space for giggling with friends.
To create a (literal) statement piece, larger than life letters like these brilliant burnished brass creations immediately draw the eye. Paired with natural elements like a faux bird’s nest and flower wreath, the juxtaposition of man-made metallics and earthy organics produces an interesting dynamic that’s extremely pleasing to look at. Hung over a dresser, the curious clash of opposing aspects makes for a charming and attractive focal point. Top the dresser with more metallics and natural pieces, like this tree trunk stand and simple silver alarm clock, to further perpetuate the aesthetic.
for instance i hate how some of the beds are so boring and look so dull and quite frankly UNCOMFORTABLE.. they look like dog beds.. teens want a big fluffy bed thats extremely comfortable !! and looks it to!!!

A peppy palette of pinks and yellow-base greens is playful, but it also transitions from a toddler room idea to teen decor. The mix of patterns knows no age barrier and provides plenty of other color options for makeovers later on. For example, the soft sage or fuchsia in the bedding could easily translate into a wall color, and the room would still sport a cohesive design.
The key, in most cases, is to banish childish decor and not impose your own style ideas on your teens’ room – it’s their retreat after all, and their idea of cool decorating most likely differs from yours. If you’re concerned about their changeable tastes and desire to keep up with trends, keep the basic wall colour neutral and use cool bedroom accessories and fresh bed linen to update the space and give it personality. The other teen bedroom essential is storage – even if every parent knows how difficult it can be to get your child to clean and tidy up after themselves, neat storage systems, from shelving to wardrobes, drawers to under-bed or end-of-bed storage benches means there’s no excuse for clutter. Get this combination of style and bedroom furniture essentials right, and you might even be in your teen girl’s good books for a little while! What more could you ask for?
hi i am a 13 year old girl and i would just like to say that although i found loads of gr8 rooms i think that the room sizes are a bit big considering that i and all of my friends have very small bed rooms.
You can create a great view by adding several shelves to your wall, and avoid making them all aligned to each other and equal in size, instead, add a large one and then several smaller ones above. That would help create a nice view to your walls, especially if they are colored. These shelves will also give you a nice space on which you can organize your books, artwork, and little girly stuff.

Transitioning a kid’s bedroom to a tween’s bedroom could seem daunting — so whether you want to completely redo your daughter’s bedroom or you’re just looking to tweak an already awesome room to accommodate her (constantly) changing interests and amazing personality, we’ve got some inspiration for you.
You may consider selecting a theme for your teenage bedroom as it keeps you focused and allows you to work on details. Hobbies and sports, celebrities, rock stars, cars, shapes, etc are few themes extremely appreciated by the teens. Irrespective of the theme you are selecting, ensure to select the wall color bright and inspiring. Stripes, checks, and mural designs are also known to work very well on the walls.
Last but not least I show you how to make a pretty pom pom flowers in a jar vase. This is such a cute decoration idea for your desk or a night stand… because who doesn’t want to have a beautiful flower bouquet in their room all year around?
I have seen this image come up on my Pinterest feed a few times in the past and have always thought I would love to be lying in that bed reading a good book! I love the contrast of black and white and think it’s a clever decision to have the fur on the end of the bed so it warms up the rest of the scheme. The artwork is oversized but not overpowering and I am always drawn to a simple colour palette- in this case it’s black, white and brown with a touch of gold. It’s simple, elegant and beautiful. If floor space is limited but you have higher ceilings, consider adding a loft or platform for your sleeping area with storage or seating underneath. This isn’t an option for everyone, but for those who don’t mind literally climbing into bed, this layout can completely transform a space.
