Monochrome is the among the most confident of interior styles. Inspired by the elegance of 1960s black-and-white fashion photography, it’s a style that’s endured. Here, a colourless room uses a hint of grey and asymmetry to its advantage.
This simple and beautiful room though small in size, looks enticing. The zebra print and the pink decals impart a novel idea. The wardrobe and the night stand are just right for the size of the room and provide enough storage capacity.
In the kids’ bedroom of Joanna Vestey’s Oxfordshire farmhouse, a chestnut chaise longue adds sophistication to the room. Playful touches include the large teddy bear and the colourful ‘LOVE’ handmade wool wallhanging by Paul Smith for The Rug Company.
for instance i hate how some of the beds are so boring and look so dull and quite frankly UNCOMFORTABLE.. they look like dog beds.. teens want a big fluffy bed thats extremely comfortable !! and looks it to!!!
Hidden in a Somerset valley, this restored Georgian house was an irresistible challenge for its owners, who put together a team including architect Ptolemy Dean for the painstaking restoration, which won a Georgian Group award in 2015.
How about a minimalist bedroom that will wish you sweet dreams? A bedroom that pleases your senses after a long and busy day. A space that is a balm for the soul of its residents, which creates a sense of sanctuary amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A Zen space with a subtle extravagant touch in the form of a marble wall which acts as a blank canvas for other features. A focal point in a form of a cosy bed upholstered with a nice, soft fabric enriched with two asymmetric lamps giving the space an usual and interesting look. There is a large walk-in wardrobe, to the right of the bed, allowing residents to keep the space nice and tidy – perhaps apart from a couple of great books laying around here and there. But who wouldn’t love to lay down on this bed with a good read? Image credit
I wish I had designed this room – I love everything about it. The bleached natural pine floorboards and tall white walls are a perfect canvas for those pretty vintage pieces and more colourful toys. With a restrained colour palette like this, a child’s room always look stylish, no matter how messy it is. I love kids’ rooms that aren’t filled with matching furniture sets from children’s ranges. Finding meaningful, beautiful pieces gives kids’ rooms personality – it takes time, but this is how the best interiors develop, organically. Quirky details such as the hat collection add fun, whilst the unexpectedly small and contrasting orange pendant adds punch to this calm monochrome scheme. Image Credit

Vincent Frey is the grandson of the eponymous Pierre Frey founder (and the current deputy manager of the French fabric and furnishing company). Vincent and his wife Bianca hired architect Marika Dru, an old school friend of Vincent’s, to work on their Parisian flat, although decided to decorate it – including son Vasco’s room – themselves. We love the mix of a grand painting with a quirky hanging basket.
I have seen this image come up on Pinterest feed a few times in the past and have always thought I would love to be lying in that bed reading a good book! I love the contrast of black and white and think it’s a clever decision to have the fur on the end of the bed so it warms up the rest of the scheme. The artwork is oversized but not overpowering and I am always drawn to a simple colour palette- in this case it’s black, white and brown with a touch of gold. It’s simple, elegant and beautiful. ‘We loved the cool, pared-down style of a house belonging to a Swedish art collector, which we had seen in a magazine,’ say the owners of this west-London terrace home. Enter Hugh Leslie whose unmistakable style gradually evolved the house into a smart family home. At the front of the house on the first floor is the pretty, generously proportioned main bedroom. Its walls are lined with the same buff-pink linen (‘Prelle Toile Barbare’ fabric by Alton Brooke) as the pelmets and the curtains, which adds an extra touch of glamour to the room. Behind it is the en-suite bathroom, with simple panelling, hand-built units and a walk-in shower lined in teak, which feels a bit like entering a first-class compartment on a vintage train.
For the teen that’s great at keeping her space clean, an all-white bedroom is a luxurious and ultra-cozy option. To pull off this look, add interest with metallic accessories and a mix of fabric textures.

Light grey walls and a gallery wall above the bed – step inside the elegant bedroom of our location editor. Soft colours carefully combined with playful accessories add character to the space in Lavinia Bolton’s Chelsea flat – an object lesson in unassuming good taste, as well as testament to her own creativity and enterprise.
All the furniture in this bedroom at Soho Farmhouse is wooden, including the panelling of the sink in the ensuite glimpsed through the doorway. This was designed to capture the Upstate New York cabin feeling.
An upholstered screen is a useful device when working with pattern as it can be moved to fill empty spaces (or hide areas such as a desk in a multi-purpose bedroom) and is relatively simple to recover when you tire of the design.
The children’s bedroom at the Playa Grande Beach Club is furnished with twin canopy beds dressed in a playful mix of pretty, sophisticated fabrics. The bed canopies are an easy bit of decorative DIY to recreate at home – simply wire a length of fabric to the ceiling of the room. Vintage leather trunks at the foot of the bed are the perfect place for chucking toys at the end of the day.
Nestled into sloping topography, the design of this home allows privacy from the street while providing unique vistas throughout the house and to the surrounding hill country and downtown skyline. Layering rooms with each other as well as circulation galleries, insures seclusion while allowing stunning downtown views. The owners’ goals of creating a home with a contemporary flo …
Could anything be cosier than a built-in bed cubby? We’ve seen some cool bedrooms before, but this dream design from a real home in Chalk Farm, London had us reaching for the ‘Pin it’ button on Pinterest at record speed.
Blending several personalities and decorating styles in a shared bedroom can be tricky. Keep the space looking cohesive by choosing one bedding style for every bed. In this room, compromise was key in the planning stages—especially when it came down to girls’ bedroom colors. One girl who loves bright, bold colors got her way with a stand-out painted ceiling, while her sister scored with neutral walls and a patterned rug. Shared girl’s room decor can make everyone happy with a little compromise.
Most of these rooms are okay, but none of them gave me any idea wse on how to redecorate my room. First of all, every single one f these rooms are way bigger then mine. Second of all, who has that kind of money to buy all that expencive looking furnishing?
In a valley on the Waddesdon Manor estate sits Flint House, an award-winning example of contemporary architecture commissioned by Jacob Rothschild. David Mlinaric, a long-time collaborator of the Rothschilds, helped with the interiors, acquiring the odd new piece of furniture and dipping into the Waddesdon storeroom, known as ‘the Pink Shed’, for others. In the main bedroom a feeling of cosseting warmth has been created in this otherwise white interior by painting two walls a rich teal and adding a large dark carpet in a sumptuous fabric. The sceme is tied together by the dark valance, while a convex mirror by Collier Webb adds sparkle and reflects the landscape.
