In a girl’s bedroom with plenty of bold colors and prints, scale back the wall color to invite serenity into the space. Look for a white with undertones of a color used in the room. Here, a white with a pink cast provides a break in the action while blending with the room’s cheeky pink accents. The little girl’s bedroom furniture provides a stark difference to the pastel walls.
It is always recommended to select simple and elegant teen bedroom furniture instead of spending lots of money on them. Select a simple bed (or bunk bed) and club it with a functional desk, wardrobe, and drawer. If there is ample of free space in the room, you may consider creating a casual seating space. Low lying chairs or sofa featuring colorful cushions with a small coffee table would do the needful.
These floor to ceiling book shelves double as a storage and an eye- capturing focal point that surrounds the head board, making the bed in this master bedroom, the center of attention. If you’re in the market for a new bed, consider a bed with drawers underneath for extra storage. If space is so limited that drawers may not open easily, use decorative bins under your bed for additional storage. We love milk crates and other woven baskets that hold up well and look great doing it.
To maximize the floor space, tuck your bed up against a wall or corner. The effect will create a sleep area that feels cozier. If it feels too much like a college dorm? Add a two headboard corner system to create a finished, designer look to a bedroom.
You may need to defy convention when it comes to design ideas for small bedrooms. Specifically, get creative with the furniture layout! In this room, the bed slightly overlaps the two windows, but the placement provides ample walkways. Just be sure to move furniture several inches away from the window to make room for blinds and curtains.
If you choose to decorate your bedroom with one hue, be sure to vary the shades to create a calming vibe. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns (florals and stripes live well together) to add visual interest.
The big debate was over who was getting what room. That was such a hard decision. I know lots of people just give the oldest child what they want. Being a youngest child, I don’t like that philosophy. I don’t know why being born first means you should get everything you want and being born later means you shouldn’t even be asked what you want.
If you have a platform bed, create custom headboard by simply applying a material to the wall behind the bed. In the bedroom below, we applied a wood paneling to the wall behind the bed to create a custom headboard. The dark stained wood finish complements the platform bed color and ties it and the night stands together visually. You can make your headboard the full height of the wall or stop it part way up. To determine the minimum height for your headboard, prop up your pillows and measure 6”-8” (15-20 cm) above that.
Sedate and restful are good, general concepts for adult bedroom design, but teenagers prefer a bedroom that’s fun and a signature of who they are. The number one response to what personality aspect a teen wants to express through their room was “creative”, while calm came in almost last. Bold, imaginative elements will excite a teen like nothing else. Some unique teen bedroom ideas that add fun to a room include:

This girl’s bedroom designed by Petite Vintage Interiors features some must-haves for ultimate fun and style for little ones. Pastel colours are great in children’s bedrooms, mixing pastel colours makes it really easy to achieve a scheme that is soothing and still loads of fun. I love the pink and mint features that stand out in this bedroom! Next, the wall stickers are a great addition. They are easier, quicker and cheaper to use than wallpaper. Little dots, triangles or clouds are just some of the many choices available. Making storage fun is also important by using cleverly shaped side tables and shelves. The house-shaped shelf used as a side table here is a great example. And you’ll score highly on the fun factor! Image Credit
This pink little girl’s room idea is a thrill for a kid at any age. The soft pink wall color is age-neutral, and the ornate rug and tufted bed frame can grow up along with your little girl. A crystal chandelier adds sparkle and maturity to the space. For a girl’s bedroom idea for a small room, stick with a twin bed and narrow furniture with plenty of storage.
Even a small space can have an airy, open vibe when your palette is mostly white with just one cheery accent color. Notice how easy it is to mix patterns when they share the same two colors; the striped rug, small floral comforter, and larger floral sheets don’t feel busy or overwhelming even though the room is very small.
This is a bedroom we designed for Jaeden. It’s my favourite because it was transformed from a dull, and dark room to a bright, fresh and fun space! The room has subtle educational elements such as coloured 3D numbers and the hexagonal shaped shelving. During installation, Jaeden who was 3 at the time, learnt what a hexagon was. The book ledges are great for easy access to his books. He was fascinated by the monkeys which hung over his bed and referred to them as ‘monkeys jumping on the bed’. The room is practical with a trundle bed for future sleepovers. It has the quirky Kartell Componibili storage which acts as a bedside table. The walls are a neutral blue/grey that creates the perfect canvas for the pops of colour or allows for an easy makeover by changing the soft furnishings.
For a much more one-of-a-kind and contemporary look, consider a bed with blended products. Blended timber as well as metal headboards in a range of designs are presently quite prominent. These types of beds look fantastic with strong bed linens in addition to geometric patterns. Wood beds can quickly offer a typical appearance or an extra modern look relying on the style and also the accents and bed linen that are used combined with them.
Decorating a girl’s bedroom could be enjoyable as well as easy as several little women have the tendency to favor specific style elements. Butterflies and blossoms tend to show up in numerous decorating schemes; however, a variety of ladies also like character styles. The ever before prominent princess style is regularly a hit.
Inexpensive and easy to make, the tissue pom is a whimsical party favorite that can also add pizazz to a child’s bedroom decor. Try incorporating different size poms and tissue paper in shades of the same color for maximum impact. Photo courtesy of ProjectNursery.com
Crystal Palecek, cofounder of Rue magazine, her husband, Andrew, had to adapt their cozy San Francisco home to accommodate their son, Benjamin. Space was limited, so the couple turned to an underutilized space — their cluttered walk-in — for the reno.

For shared bedrooms where the occupants don’t see eye to eye on color, find one hue that appeals to both parties and let each choose an accent color. For multi-hue schemes, include plenty of white to tame the color confluence, like the white furniture in this cute girl bedroom idea.

Although professional framing comes with added expense, it’s an excellent way to help a youth-oriented space feel less juvenile and more grown-up. Instead of tacking the original paper directly to the wall, it was instead placed inside a floating-style frame with coordinating mat. When framing pieces for tween’s rooms, always consider durability and safety. Instead of gallery glass, this piece is protected with acrylic, which is kid-friendly and shatterproof.

This beautifully detailed light pink rose lamp was not bought at any high-end decoration shop but rather a DIY project made from a simple white lamp and several big fabric roses. The result is simply elegant and feminine. source.
From the soft pink walls to the floral bedding to the girl’s bedroom wall decor, this bedroom embodies everything feminine. The simple look of the tufted bed complements the antique bedside table. Cozy floral fabrics and billowy window treatments look airy and soft with the natural light pouring into the room. Create contrast in this all-pink room with girl’s bedroom accessories, such as this ornate blue rug. The color grounds the room while the intricate details connect to the delicate decor.
Create the illusion of more space by limiting the color palette. If you use similar hues on walls, furnishings and bedding, the bedroom appears larger. The lines between all the different elements will be blurred, and your eye will move effortlessly around the room. To add interest, inject a few pops of a contrasting color. Once you’ve got the ‘shell’ of your room sorted, it’s time to focus on furniture that’s suitable for kids’ rooms. Work out how much space you have and think about how it will function as your child grows up. A simple single bed in a classic style will last for years to come, but a themed bed, such as Thomas the Tank Engine or princess’s castle, will be a real treat.
I wish I had designed this room – I love everything about it. The bleached natural pine floorboards and tall white walls are a perfect canvas for those pretty vintage pieces and more colourful toys. With a restrained colour palette like this, a child’s room always look stylish, no matter how messy it is. I love kids’ rooms that aren’t filled with matching furniture sets from children’s ranges. Finding meaningful, beautiful pieces gives kids’ rooms personality – it takes time, but this is how the best interiors develop, organically. Quirky details such as the hat collection add fun, whilst the unexpectedly small and contrasting orange pendant adds punch to this calm monochrome scheme. Image Credit
I’m the oldest girl and got the smallest room. However, it was the most private and I could easily come and go without disturbing anyone, even my light sleeping mother. I was also the only kid ever remotely responsible enough to have that room. I did cross country in fall, speech and debate in winter, and soccer in spring, plus theatre when possible. I was out early in the mornings (most, I went running at 5 am) and had nights getting home at 11:30 or later. Granted, my room was navy and black. Yes, it was a dark pit.
