I agree with Sarah Akwisombe’s statement. I too, enjoy having a room in dark colours because it’s super inviting and makes me want to sleep and relax. However, I am not a fan of brown colour on anything else than wood. I see that most of the pictures here portray white bedrooms… the least appropriate colour for a bedroom in my opinion.
For the city that never sleeps, New York certainly has plenty of stylish hotels. The High Line Hotel is a recent addition, its décor evoking a bygone era. Hardwood floors and unique, locally-sourced furniture come standard, but the rooms are anything but. So chic.
Today’s teenagers are design-conscious and up to date on the latest trends. But they’re torn between childhood and adulthood. Most teens have beloved toys they’re not ready to give up, but look for a room that’s older and more sophisticated than their childhood room.
The bamboo desk in the main bedroom of textiles designer Susan Deliss’ French country house came from Golborne Road, London. The curtains are made from heavy French linen, dyed a bright pink – here Deliss proves that pink needn’t be precious, it can be bold and punchy when used correctly.
Coloured lights are always a cute addition to a kids’ room. This display of ball lights strung around a set of white painted ladders is the perfect way to illuminate a corner and create a stylish feature at the same time.
This gorgeous girl’s room has hand painted, full room wall mural with wooden floors. The atmosphere in this room is enough to give wings to the imagination to your little fairy. I won’t be surprised to find her in the land of ‘Sleeping Beauty’, fast asleep in the garden, waiting for her prince. The traditional bed and the furniture enhance the mystic feel of the atmosphere.
In Steffanie Brown’s 10-year-old daughter’s bedroom, interior decorator Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay has subdivided the walls for a sock-it-to-me impact, introducing a psychedelic cloudscape (‘Clouds Sonic’ by Aimée Wilder) above the picture rail and a restrained print below (‘Tile’ by Cole & Son). ‘She wanted a funky bedroom,’ says Henri. ‘I tried to give her what she was looking for, without doing something that would later drive you bonkers.’
An industrial-inspired decor of stripped back brick walls, utilitarian style furniture and a grey colour scheme is given a kids’ room appropriate update with the addition of bold colour and fun accessories and artwork.
The twin beds in one of the children’s rooms of Harriet Logan and Mark Faulkner’s home are the ‘Mini’, by Zanotta. Interior designer Andrew Fossey and Chris Dyson Architects were behind the renovation of the Georgian property in Spitalfields in London’s East End. Harriet and Mark are the co-founders of Woop Studios, which designs and sells limited-edition prints via an online gallery.
Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay, the owner of this Victorian country house in Shropshire, has enhanced the interiors of this grand property with her signature mid-century aesthetic without compromising original features.
Prior to this tween girl’s bedroom redesign, the walls were covered in bright lilac paint, which gave it more of a little girl’s identity. In order to make it cool enough for a tween yet classic enough for parents, the space would be painted a dark shade of violet, the dated wall-to-wall carpet would be replaced with gray-toned vinyl plank flooring and the childish furniture would be swapped out for colorful vintage pieces.
On paper, this room shouldn’t be lovely at all – tiny, with barely any room for even a bed, and crammed with bright colours and clashing patterns. But in reality, this space, which I shot for my book Home for Now, is actually one of my favourite bedrooms I’ve ever worked in. This gorgeous sea green hue breathes life into this bijou space, whilst ingenious storage ideas, such as using a wall-mounted telephone table instead of a bedside unit, and hanging storage pockets on the wall, make best use of the available space. It that if you have courage in your design convictions, you can make anything work, whatever the challenge. Image credit

so im a 17 year old teenage girl and only the last room looks remotly livable in. no personal aspects to any of them just random decorative ornaments like numbers (i spotted a 10 and a 5). and as a teenage girl i do not have a buget to build custom long closet all around my room, nor do i have a balcony.
With the distressed wood of the floor and walls, this room needs little else to give it character and warmth. Netural tones, natural textures and a touch of colour from a pretty patterned bed spread are a subtle but welcome addition.
