This bedroom ticks a lot of boxes for me with the herringbone floor, contemporary light fitting and soft linen bedding. I always have a soft spot for period properties and the owners of this home have highlighted the gorgeous high ceiling with a dusty pink colour – a bold but highly effective way to add colour into a room without it being overwhelming. Also, by bringing the curtain pole the full width of the wall, the curtains do not cover the window at all – allowing for maximum light and a really luxurious feel with all of that lovely soft fabric. Resisting the idea of moving or expanding into the basement, the owners of this London house from the 1850s gave architect Maria Speake of Retrouvius the go-ahead to make changes to give their family and business the space needed. This children’s bedrooms is flooded with light from both the window and skylight, with neat underbed storage to make the most of the awkward attic space.
Kids love to climb up into a raised bed but this option will also create extra storage space underneath or, as in this case, a little play area, decorated here with a highly textured rug and sweet wallsticker.
This bedroom in Soho Farmhouse features wood panelling. Mixing bare wood with white painted panels gives the room texture as well as a rustic feel. The pale scheme includes framed prints and large rugs.
While it’s generally true that oversize furniture doesn’t work in a small room, there are always exceptions. For example, the canopy bed here is nearly as large as the tiny bedroom, but instead of cramped, the space looks perfect. The secret is in the clean, simple lines of the bed, along with its color – white – matching the walls to eliminate contrast.
Soft white walls set the tone in this modern bedroom, which also features a run of bespoke cupboards. These divide the bedroom from the hallway. A simple, rustic tree stump is used as a bedside table, adding to the natural feel of the scheme. Create a similar effect with ‘Lozano’ by Swoon Editions.
I am 20 y/o, I am in the United States Army and I live on post as a single soldier. The rooms the the single soldiers are given to stay in are very ugly and difficult to decorated I got several Ideas from this site and I enjoyed the different styles. Thank you. ?
Create a sweet work station for reading or drawing with a small desk and chair and floor lamp. Upcycle a standard white MDF desk with some paint and wallstickers, or take the easier option and choose this one from online children’s store Vertbaudet.
Blue curtains add colour to this white bedroom in a Victorian terrace house in London designed by Sarah Stewart-Smith. Although this is a small bedroom, space has been found to include a workspace at the foot of the bed. Transparent furniture ensures that this addition doesn’t make the small space feel cramped.
All the furniture in this bedroom at Soho Farmhouse is wooden, including the panelling of the sink in the ensuite glimpsed through the doorway. This was designed to capture the Upstate New York cabin feeling.
I love the diversity in this post. You can find inspiration for everything – from cosy and snuggly bedrooms to dark and mysterious ones. Especially liked the one with the wall mural, feels like sleeping in the forest, out in the fresh and crisp air. I remember seeing a similar design but with rain clouds. I think natural wall murals bring peace and serenity to the bedroom.
Hidden in a Somerset valley, this restored Georgian house was an irresistible challenge for its owners, who put together a team including architect Ptolemy Dean for the painstaking restoration, which won a Georgian Group award in 2015.
This is the one bedroom at the tiny Central Hotel & Café in Copenhagen, in the Vesterbro neighbourhood. The room necessarily makes use of the tiny space and even tinier windows, but the green walls with wooden accents adds plenty of interest to a potentially boxy bedroom.
I’m interested in function and beauty in my room; not space age cubicles with a splash of color here and there. Please include rooms that are actually realistic and comfortable. I don’t understand this obsession with doctor’s office style bedrooms…
Make tidying up more fun with pretty fabric storage boxes slotted into a white-painted unit. A large scale wall sticker picks up on the colours of the boxes to turn the storage area into a focal point.
Butter yellow curtains are a pretty complement to whimsical gray floral wallpaper in this designer space. Bamboo Roman shades set behind the curtains add visual depth to the design, while a blanket and throw pillows add layers of pattern and color.
