Moody, masculine & deliciously unconventional, Scott Newkirk’s New York bedroom is my idea of the perfect retreat. I love the way he has skilfully coupled a restrained & muted palette with a medley of textural layers from metal & woods to linen, wool & length-upon-length of natural burlap. He has created a surprisingly luxurious getaway which is both atmospheric & calming. Image credit
While pretty is important, practicality is also a must. White furniture can remain in the room through all stages of childhood. Bedding, accessories, and paint colors can easily be changed as tastes go from little girl to teen. The many storage options, such as built-in cabinets and nightstands, can readily go from holding dolls to fashion magazines and makeup.
That would depend on what your bedroom looks like right now. We pulled up existing carpet and put in hardwood floors, built the closet with custom closet doors to match the wallpaper, added new window treatments, painted, wallpapered, and added all new furniture and custom bedding in this space.
I wish I had designed this room – I love everything about it. The bleached natural pine floorboards and tall white walls are a perfect canvas for those pretty vintage pieces and more colourful toys. With a restrained colour palette like this, a child’s room always look stylish, no matter how messy it is. I love kids’ rooms that aren’t filled with matching furniture sets from children’s ranges. Finding meaningful, beautiful pieces gives kids’ rooms personality – it takes time, but this is how the best interiors develop, organically. Quirky details such as the hat collection add fun, whilst the unexpectedly small and contrasting orange pendant adds punch to this calm monochrome scheme. Image Credit
Every room needs a splash of pattern. In this trendy pre-teen room, an accent of cheerful lavender wallpaper pops perfectly against crisp white furniture and built-ins. The pattern is repeated in the window coverings in the room. Colorful pillows and bedding pull in more colors from the girl’s bedroom wallpaper and tie the color scheme together. Finally, the area rug packs the last punch in this busy, but cohesive room. With wallpaper and patterns as fun as this, there’s no need for girl’s bedroom wall decor.
Hi Gianna! So glad you found inspiration in this post! This is a round up post, meaning we did not create the projects, but found them on the internet and put them all in one convenient place for our viewers!
Wonderful ideas, and great tips. Beautiful decors. Wonder if you could share more ideas for tables for studying. I don’t like big http://allsportstoday.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ I just would like to have a space where they can do their homework but don’t take up too much space. Thank you.
Furnishing a small bedroom can be a challenge as the space needs to be used wisely. Placing your bed at an angle, mirrors on wardrobes and cupboards and built in wardrobes, are some small bedroom ideas you can implement. They are excellent space savers and the mirrored panels create the illusion of extra space. Beds with storage space are also good for smaller bedrooms, allowing you to keep all bits and pieces out of sight.
Bedding can make or break a space, especially in a tween girl’s room where anything too cute can be too juvenile and anything too highbrow can be too adult. Instead of traditional florals, add an updated touch to a tween girl’s bedscape with overscale botanical prints.

This room has this funny little corner. It works as a great place to set up a doll shop, house or barn yard. I also have hooks on the walls for her to hang up her backpack and any other bags. There are better pics of this corner and the hooks in the post I wrote about easy toy storage.
