Interior designer Robert Moore is a self-confessed magpie, and his home is bursting with beautiful things: books, photographs and silvery trinkets adorn every surface. The main bedroom is painted in ‘Tablecloth’ by Paint & Paper Library while the mirror was bought in Arundel. Nicholas Haslam will make the pretty gabled headboard to order, but Sofa.com’s ‘Inferno’ bed upholstered in cotton (starting from £695 for a double) is a good alternative.
When searching flea markets for dressers, keep in mind that nine-drawer and 12-drawer configurations offer enough concealed storage not only for holding clothes, but also for keeping things like books and diaries neatly organized yet out of sight. As tween girls start to yearn for privacy, it’s wise to supply them with storage for things they don’t want out on display.
Measuring just 90 square metres, this home to a family of five in Chelsea, London, makes use of every inch of space. Designed by Eve Mercier, the small kids’ bedroom features two broad, wall-mounted benches (underneath the loft bed) that are easily transformed into beds is concealed below), while a third, drawer bed slides out when needed. We wanted a versatile space that could easily be converted into a study if necessary, explains Eve. A circular, frosted window overlooks the bathroom.
The furniture was found at Swoon Editions, including the low, mid-century modern rosewood media unit and bedside table. The bedding was bought from Anthropologie and the lighting from Urban Cottage Industries.
In this guest bedroom, I wanted to create a fresh, but calm atmosphere. I’m a big believer that “less is more”, so I kept the styling to the minimum. White walls and crisp black and white bed linen give an airy feel to the room. The photos on top of the bed add a splash of colour that I believe is needed in every room. Yet the colours are not too vibrant to break the tranquil atmosphere. Colour and wooden details soften the overall look and make the room more inviting. All in all, it’s a bedroom in very Scandinavian style: minimalist and relaxed, made for living. Image credit
‘Cottage Cubed’ – remodel of a 25sqm fisherman’s cottage. A large plywood cube of storage was constructed. The top of which is a sleeping platform. The faces of the cube are the staircase and kitchen. The interior of the cube contains a bathroom and utility. Cottage Cubed was completed in 2012 by DMVF Architects. www.dmvf.ie. In the main bedroom of this vicarage in Hampshire, interior designer Max Rollitt has customised an antique four-poster bed found at auction, with a pretty scalloped frame. The wallpaper is ‘Adams Eden’ by Lewis & Wood.
In this country house in Norfolk with interiors designed by Veere Grenney, the Tudor wing is a glorious honeycomb of rooms for the youngest members of the family, where there are enough small beds for the most riotous of sleepovers. Four-poster beds, working fireplaces and generous armchairs make them gloriously comfortable, but the light colour palette, the brightly coloured modern rugs and the carefully chosen pictures and objects dispel any notion of stuffiness. Yellow is a great colour choice for childrens rooms: it’s bright, playful and most importantly gender neutral.

These are some really great designs for anyone with smaller bedrooms! A lot of people choose to go with less or smaller furniture, in order to maximize floor space. But I’ve always preferred some of the ideas put forward here, like full-wall shelving and other ways to maximize space.
If you’re lucky enough to have a spare bedroom or un-tapped attic space, turn it into a playroom. Anne-Marie Midy and Jorge Almada – French and Mexican respectively – have done this in their Brussels family home, which they share with their two sons, Antoine and Olivier. The couple design modern furniture and accessories that are made using traditional techniques by craftsman in Mexico for sale through their design company Casamidy. We love how the couple isn’t afraid to use a magenta hue on the shelves in a space designed for boys.
Pink and green are the perfect duo in this little girl’s bedroom. Floral fabrics and jeweled accents add an innocent and youthful feel, while still emitting a mature and grown-up style. The miniature chair and ottoman provide a cozy spot to curl up with a good book before bedtime. To inspire organization, HGTV fan ssd used white wicker containers to hold toys and accessories.
Anna Potter’s bedroom is everything that I look for in a place to sleep. Warm, calm, welcoming and homely. The dark grey walls and bed linen have a sense of calm, like a gentle hug, welcoming you to bed. The oversized vintage map above adds a sense of drama and no need for a headboard. The room is filled with history, a hand-me-down chest of draws, holiday souvenirs, and the owners own artwork on the walls. A vintage, comfortable and stylish space. I could sleep there quite happily. Image credit
This room has a beautiful vintage/industrial style. A bedroom to me is a place to rest and to surround myself with calmness. This needs to be reflected in the decor. Nothing should draw too much attention. It needs to be laid back, full of natural materials, casual and cosy.

There are so many things about this room that we love: the matte grey painted floorboards, the assortment of rugs, the pretty bed canopy and sweet wall stickers and the soft but warm colour scheme. Whether you copy the whole scheme or just take one element, you’ve got guaranteed style.
I think it is pretty low of you to post that you are giving a certain number of hacks and when we click on them we only get about half. To get the rest we have to share, REALLY? Next thing you know, we will have to pay for them. I have seen most of them and the ones I haven’t will eventually come up with no requirements. It’s not like you came up with these yourself and have exclusive rights to them,
If you’re in the market for a new bed, consider a bed with drawers underneath for extra storage. If space is so limited that drawers may not open easily, use decorative bins under your bed for additional storage. We love milk crates and other woven baskets that hold up well and look great doing it.

This compact children’s room is brightened up with soft pink walls, while the dark wooden beams add definition as well as providing natural shelving. White furniture is ideal for giving the impression of more space in a small scheme.
Pretty pink curtains and a pink-painted bed is set against a backdrop of white panelled walls for a cosy country feel. A peg rail makes a sweet display for toys, as well as providing practical storage for bags.
