Ideally, a bedroom should be a clean, minimal space for you to unwind in, but I also love how creativity has crept into this Scandi interior. Full of personality, this scrapbook/shelving arrangement complements the DIY aesthetic of the room and accompanies the hanging bulb light fixture perfectly. Framed pictures are non-existent but instead, a quick fix of inspirational imagery taped to the wall is the ultimate effortless decorative feature. I like how black accents can be detected from the tape, light and bedside table; bringing all of the decorations together, but still harnessing that spontaneous element. Image credit

Unless you have a budget that permits new furniture every few years, you’ll want to choose a bedroom set that grows up with your daughter. The room shown here is delightful now — what young girl wouldn’t love all the polka dots and the wonderful dog poster?  — but the basic white furniture will have no problem handling a more mature palette, bedding, and accessories when the teen years arrive.

This green, cream and black bedroom features ruched blinds, which are shaking off their Eighties associations and making a comeback. Some rooms require a relaxed edge and these provide that softness. This one is in ‘Sophie’ from Borderline, £76 a – a simple linen print that looks charming and not at all like a Viennetta.

A contemporary blue wall paint, loud print bedding and some favourite records hung on the walls: it doesn’t take much to create a cool bedroom for a young teenager. You can throw the bike in too if you’re feeling generous!

A spare bedroom with wooden furniture and a window seat in the terrace house of Lady Wakefield. The beautiful Georgian window – found in a junk shop on the King’s Road – was added in 1998 by the owners.

Stylists Gabby Deeming and Florence Rolfe transformed this historic timber-framed barn with crisp linens and accents of bold colour. The main bedroom features a nineteenth-century iron-framed half-tester bed hung with bold red striped curtains.

I stayed at the Ludlow Hotel in New York’s Lower East Side last October and I instantly fell in love with my room. The stark black four-poster bed was the perfect contrast to whitewashed walls and beams. The industrial black window frames were dressed with heavy patterned pleated silk shades. The massive brass pendant lamp, patterned flat-weave rug, sheepskin throws and deeply veined marble coffee tables accented the decor perfectly. And the view of downtown Manhattan was of course unbeatable. Image credit

Wow! Those are plentiful of brilliant and creative ideas, I can’t help myself not be amazed. All these DIY room decorations and furniture’s really inspire me. I’m pretty sure that this is definitely a hit for all the teenage girls out there. Among these lovely examples, that trash can night stand truly captivated my heart.

Since moving into her husband’s Wiltshire farmhouse, designer Sarah Vanrenen has enhanced its quirky charm, with an adjusted layout and unexpected colours. The embroidered linen bedspread was bought at a flea market in France, the rug came from Morocco and an Uzbek tribal coat hangs on the wall.

The conversion of this Victorian terrace in west London was a collaborative effort between Thomas Croft Architects, John Cullen Lighting and designer Sarah Delaney. The brief for the kids’ rooms at the top of the house was to keep them light hearted and comfortable. Job done we’d say.

If you’re in the market for a new bed, consider a bed with drawers underneath for extra storage. If space is so limited that drawers may not open easily, use decorative bins under your bed for additional storage. We love milk crates and other woven baskets that hold up well and look great doing it.

Girls bedroom ideas, like these, reflect to a mother’s imagination. This is a traditional bedroom, done up predominantly in pink colour, generally associated with girls. The hearts on the wall paper and the curtains leave my heart fluttering. Again the pillow cover and the window treatment have been streamlined and is looking beautiful.

The main bedroom in the Florescu’s modern Chelsea home follows a fresh decoration scheme – mainly white with touches of rich turquoise and sunny yellow. Through the door is a glimpse into Lizzie’s study – a studious sanctury with fitted bookshelves and a cosy armchair.

A bed with a half-tester canopy made by J Gee Blinds takes centre stage in the main bedroom of a London flat designed by Charlotte Crosland, accessorised with a fleur-de-lis cover by Neisha Crosland and cushions that mirror the floral motifs on the decorative wall.

In a west London industrial mews house owned by designer Caroline Riddell, the main bedroom has a neutral palette of panelled wood walls with splashes of yellow, creating a bright, sunny space. Open-plan living is made cosy with warm touches to this family home and office.

The owners of this west London house employed a skilled team to restore its original features, and create a home with a feeling of permanence after a lifetime of moving. The house is a tall, mid-nineteenth-century white stucco building that they wanted to work well for twenty-first-century family life. ‘We were determined to avoid beige banker chic,’ the owner explains. The daughter’s diminutive bedroom is hung with Cole & Son’s ‘Hummingbirds’ wallpaper.

There’s nothing like an in-house retreat to make a child’s room more fun. This girly teepee tent is small enough to include in interior spaces, while still providing ample space for her to sneak away into her own private hideaway. Design by Susie Fougerousse

Cushions Beaumont & Fletcher are among the golden accents in this spare room in the London flat of Hannah Cecil Gurney, the daughter of Claud Cecil Gurney, founder of the handmade wallpaper company de Gournay. The walls are clad in a glorious green hand-painted wallpaper. Follow Hannah’s lead and inject some glamour into your spare room – we promise you’re guests won’t be dissappointed!

Formerly a rabbit warren of small, dark rooms, this Victorian house in west London has been opened up, flooded with light and filled with the owners collection of art and furniture, to create a balance between its original character and modern style. The main bedroom and bathroom design proved problematic, due to the Victorian dimensions of the five-metre-wide space. The soft lighting and gentle palette brings to mind the inviting warmth of an art gallery. A charming arrangement of mostly Modern British oils and drawings, which owner Ben Whitfield collects, rests on a built-out picture shelf that doubles as a headboard.

Trudi Ballard, press officer of Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler has decorated her elegant Marrakesh house in a combination of English country-house style with traditional Moroccan elements. A rug – a gift from a friend – brightens the scheme, while the raffia ceiling lights from Henry Cath are a unifying element that has been used in all the bedrooms. The light-filled house opens out from a courtyard with a traditionally tiled, cloistered walkway to one side from which bedrooms lead off, each with its own terrace.

there are really nice bedrooms that you have put on this website but you have to make it look more real for it to happen in a modern day bedroom like my favourite room is the one with the blue comfeter but thanks for putting these on there for me to make it look like my room well i have to go now byye!!

The twin kids’ bedroom in this architect’s minimal family home is decorated in crisp white with fun splashes of bright colour. Elegant cushions make for a cosy corner on the right, while the kid’s workspace features a rustic wooden stool.

Bespoke storage with a fun twist, like these clever wall mounted boxes, can add character but also provide essential storage for toys and books. We like the contrasting pop of orange inside which is picked up on by the cushions and lamp too.

The main bedroom of this Richmond mansion flat designed by Johnny Holland of Hackett Holland is decorated in dark colours to exaggerate its cosiness while the range of textures create a feeling of luxury. One corner has been hived off to form a walk-in wardrobe, which is papered with a tropical Ananbô wallpaper and overlaid with a grid of panelling to give it added depth.

Does your child have a favourite book or television character that you’re considering including in a design scheme? Bedding is the clever option as it doesn’t involve too much commitment (and we all now how fickle kids can be). We love the creative use of paint on the walls which works with the theme now but could also be adapted later.

With stylish gray walls and mature furnishings, this little girl’s bedroom can keep her company for years to come. The contemporary white desk and nightstands are suitable for a young girl but can easily make the transition to pre-teen and older. Design by Nicole Sassaman

In this stylish children’s bedroom designed by Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay, a fixed and shaped box pelmet with curtains in a pale blue fabric is a smart choice as it will not be quickly outgrown when the children become teenagers. The overall effect is modern and elegant.

‘Scandinavians live for light. Inside Scandinavian houses it is summer all the time,’ says designer Lars Bolander in his book Scandinavian Design (Vendome Press). It is certainly true in his little 1800s farmhouse in Sweden. The home took a year to renovate, including breaking through the original chimney to create a fireplace in the main bedroom. The furniture is a mix of Swedish and English, while the walls are lined with ‘F124 Forget-me-not Spring in Pink’ from Chelsea Textiles.

When I began Benji’s room, it was all about getting to know him. Benji has a twin brother so I wanted to make sure when designing their rooms that their different personalities were expressed.  I soon found out that Benji’s favourite color was blue, so blue was a must. I also found out that Benji was interested in travel, the world, and had a very inquisitive mind. These two details were then the theme for my design. I used a large blue rug so that blue was prominent in his room but I didn’t want it to be dark and dreary so I chose a yellow to lift the blue and then used accents of both blue and yellow around the room. To inspire his travel goals, I added a world map on one wall and commissioned a small hand painted compass mural on another wall. I love this space as it’s light, bright, stylish and still reflects Benji’s fun, adventurous personality

The main bedroom of Ben Pentreath’s Georgian country house is painted in what he lovingly refers to as ‘freshly laid cowpat’ – an earthy green from Papers & Paints, officially known as ‘4-050’. The bed is covered with a fresh Indian printed-cotton cover.

It is always recommended to select simple and elegant teen bedroom furniture instead of spending lots of money on them. Select a simple bed (or bunk bed) and club it with a functional desk, wardrobe, and drawer. If there is ample of free space in the room, you may consider creating a casual seating space. Low lying chairs or sofa featuring colorful cushions with a small coffee table would do the needful.

There can be few House & Garden readers who are unfamiliar with the cult names and sought-after colours of the Farrow & Ball paint chart. Friends and business partners Martin Ephson and Tom Helme, the men responsible for planting it firmly in the nation’s consciousness, sold the company in 2006, and have since launched textiles company Fermoie. House & Garden decoration editor Gabby Deeming created a pretty scheme using their fabrics. The padded headboard, upholstered in the ‘Rabanna’ cotton is from Fafio, while the sofa and chair are both from Howe.

Guys, in case you aren’t aware there are materials to paint a room that are not expensive..especially if you do it yourself. Also you can design a room based on someone else’s design. Your room doesn’t have to look EXACTLY like the designer’s. And, of course, you have to adjust a design to the size and shape of your room. Just putting that out there because there’s a very small chance that you will find a design that if made FOR you and your room..

Gabby Deeming has created the atmosphere of a New England-style holiday home with painted wood and faded stripes. The walls are in ‘Faded Damask’ by Mulberry Home, while the bespoke wooden headboard can be made to order by Fafio, and is painted (along with all the rest of the wood work) in ‘Sea Cliff’ eggshell from Sanderson. The bedding is from Romo, and the driftwood side table is Oka.

Bedding can make or break a space, especially in a tween girl’s room where anything too cute can be too juvenile and anything too highbrow can be too adult. Instead of traditional florals, add an updated touch to a tween girl’s bedscape with overscale botanical prints.

While modern and luxurious design ideas often tell you that you need to have a sitting area, small office, or a king size bed in your bedroom, don’t forget that a bedroom’s main function is to be a place to rest and recharge. And you don’t much to create a beautiful space to do so.

Measuring just 90 square metres, this home to a family of five in Chelsea, London, makes use of every inch of space. Designed by Eve Mercier, the small kids’ bedroom features two broad, wall-mounted benches (underneath the loft bed) that are easily transformed into beds (bed-linen is concealed below), while a third, drawer bed slides out when needed. We wanted a versatile space that could easily be converted into a study if necessary, explains Eve. A circular, frosted window overlooks the bathroom.

If your little girl has a knack for geography, consider girl’s bedroom wallpaper that has an educational flair. In this globetrotter’s room, a map of the world takes up the entire accent wall. Here, she can plan her next big adventure or be inspired to pick up a few library books on the eastern hemisphere. Plan the bedding and textiles around the colors found in the global designs.

Add bold, summery textiles to a light filled room and you’re guaranteed a fresh, summer feeling all year around. We love the hanging lampshades in this room; even without bulbs they make a great feature.

This bedroom is within a newbuild in California decorated by David Bentheim. A modern iron four poster bed is draped with a linen-covered duvet, wool blanket and monogrammed cushions. The colour scheme is kept calm and bright with white walls and painted panelled ceiling, Crittall-style french doors and window are both covered with soft grey roman blinds. This attic bedroom in west London designed by Hackett Holland is proof that you can make any awkward space stylish. It features London street map wallpaper and a sweet reading nook with a porthole window through which to gaze out (pictured out of shot, see it up close here).

This is a photo of my 8 year old son’s room, styled and photographed by myself. It’s a modern Breton themed bedroom.  I styled this bedroom in the autumn to bring a fresh, bright and happy feel to the room. I made sure that a cosy feel is maintained, with the soft throw on bed for bedtime tucking in and the cushion for casual lounging. Everything is positioned conveniently, such as the comforting bedside light, an accessible bedside table for his drink and storage below his table for toys. Next to his bed is a laundry bag which encourages tidiness. To the right of his bed is a large shelf of favourite books, recently converted to his workspace. To the left of his bed is an empty area for running around with friends. Image credit

For House & Garden’s Carole Annett, a passing request for decorating advice from her friend, the interior designer Emma Sims Hilditch, turned into the top-to-bottom redecoration of her Surrey house. Carole chose Zoffany’s ‘Eleonora’ paper for a spare room.

Heidi Lightfoot and Steve Gibbons wanted a mid-century house and found this Thirties house in rural Hertfordshire. Built in 1936 by the renowned public sector architect Mary Medd, Sewell’s Orchard was apparently unpopular with the locals at the time, who likened its monopitch roof and pared-back design to that of a factory. This neutral spare room is brightened up with the addition of prints and a lively geometric blanket.

More than a decade after inheriting their Perthshire estate, James and Caroline Inchyra have realised its full potential, turning it in to a bustling family home. Chintz curtains with an elaborate pelmet feature in this sunny bedroom. Take a look around the rest of the house here.

My belief is that a bedroom should be clean and simple. We spend so much time in our bedrooms trying to unwind from the day. That’s why we should create a serene space for ourselves. This bedroom is both serene and cool. The black and white palette proves that you don’t have to have a lot of colour to stand out. Image credit

In the main bedroom of this Chelsea family home designed by Turner Pocock, a hand-painted de Gournay silk wallpaper and an elegant chandelier sets the tone, but a pompom trim on the curtains, (‘Arrango Linen’ from Zinc Textile) adds a touch of playfulness and frivolity.

Printed in Paris, the wallpaper is printed to the client’s wall dimensions and some can be adapted to your own colour scheme. ‘The Wild’ (pictured here) is inspired by Douanier Rousseau and illustrated by hand in black and white. If you have young daughters sharing a bedroom, give each a say in how that room is decorated, but be prepared to step in as the final word. Some children like to personalize their section of the room; others like to match. Just be sure that each girl has an area to store her favorite possessions, and there is enough desk space for both to do homework at the same time. This adorable space from Finnian’s Moon Interiors uses a peaceful palette of green, blue, and soft gray.

Bring a redundant fireplace up to scratch for the party season by lining it with wallpaper. Simply take the dimensions of the inside of your fireplace, cut out the wallpaper to fit and Blu-Tac it into place. A few ornamental logs, tea lights or strategically placed baubles also help achieve this festive look.

Detailing and subtlety of colour are trademarks of designer John Minshaw’s interiors, and the barn conversion he shares with wife Susie illustrates this perfectly. The bedroom pairs William Yeoward bedlinen with a blue headboard and black furniture.

The miniature chair and ottoman provide a cozy spot to curl up with a good book before bedtime. To inspire organization, HGTV fan ssd used white wicker containers to hold toys and accessories.

While it’s wonderful to go buck wild with the decoration of a child’s room, sometimes a subtle approach, like that taken in this charming nursery by Emma Burns of Colefax & Fowler, can save time and money – especially if the baby is likely to graduate to a bigger room later on.

I agree with Sarah Akwisombe’s statement. I too, enjoy having a room in dark colours because it’s super inviting and makes me want to sleep and relax. However, I am not a fan of brown colour on anything else than wood. I see that most of the pictures here portray white bedrooms… the least appropriate colour for a bedroom in my opinion.

Most of the time, a small bedroom means an equally small closet. A great solution to this common concern is incorporating built-in storage around the head of the bed, as in this serene space designed by Chris Ebert of Normandy Remodeling. If built-ins aren’t an option, look for bookcases that fit in the space instead.

Interior designer Robert Moore is a self-confessed magpie, and his home is bursting with beautiful things: books, photographs and silvery trinkets adorn every surface. Sometimes there’s much to be gleaned from the design of a good hotel room. This one the Playa Grande Beach Club is painted in what it’s owner calls, ‘faded bathing-suit colours’, and layered with art, objects and vintage furnishings. The bed forms the focal point of a perfectly symmetrical tableau of furniture, starting with the wall mounted lamps and side tables and culminating with the bamboo sofa, coffee table and string chairs which form an appealing seating area for morning coffee and newspapers.

The design of this room is in keeping with the rest of the house, in which all rooms are furnished with Scandinavian and mid-century pieces. Heidi and Steve were collecting these before they met. Pieces sourced from dealers and furniture fairs – and even found in skips – include classic Knoll, Eames, Ercol and Hans Wegner furniture with some contemporary pieces by Hay and Donna Wilson in for good measure. Artwork, including vintage Carry On posters, a Lucienne Day silk mosaic and work by Pink Floyd designer Storm Thorgerson, hangs on the walls.

On paper, this room shouldn’t be lovely at all – tiny, with barely any room for even a bed, and crammed with bright colours and clashing patterns. But in reality, this space, which I shot for my book Home for Now, is actually one of my favourite bedrooms I’ve ever worked in. This gorgeous sea green hue breathes life into this bijou space, whilst ingenious storage ideas, such as using a wall-mounted telephone table instead of a bedside unit, and hanging storage pockets on the wall, make best use of the available space. It proves that if you have courage in your design convictions, you can make anything work, whatever the challenge. Image credit

Designer Jonathan Tuckey redesigned this London mews house in Notting Hill for a former submariner. The house is designed to enable the internal layout to be adjusted; the main bedroom can be screened off from the staircase and roof terrace for added privacy.

A room fit for a princess doesn’t have to purely consist of soft pinks. We love the addition of a fiery orange wall and red, orange and purple rug; the clashing hues of which add character to the scheme.

Inspiration for a soft and elegant room design is easy to display with floral print bedding. Pick out a fun daisy print on a duvet cover and shams to add some cheer to your space. Bring out the colors of your bedding by using the complementary sheet sets we have available. Placing rugs around the floor softens the overall look and feel within the room. Adding golden finished lamps and chairs brings a cool finishing touch of glamour to your space.

Upstairs in the main bedroom of this farmhouse in the Chilterns hangs a collection of John Nash watercolours. ‘I love them, they represent my England; it makes me happy looking at them,’ says the owner. The magnificent Tabriz carpet is reputed to have come from the house of the poet and arts patron Edward James, West Dean in Sussex. The neutral walls allow pieces such as the bold Tabriz carpet and dark wood chest to take centre stage.

Nurture the art lover in your teen by decorating their bedroom walls with prints they’ve picked. If their room is already a technicolour dream, pick a portrait that incorporates as many of the colours as possible to tie the room together.

There are few places where a teen can express themselves unabashedly. The bedroom is the top choice. The beauty of being a teenager is that the world is their oyster. Their favorite things are diverse and sometimes discordant, but with some planning, all ideas can tie together beautifully.

Serena Foyle, a music designer for firework displays divides her time between her home in Edinburgh and her family’s Cadogan Square flat in London where she lives with her artist brother William. The architectural style is late Georgian, with generous sash windows, deep eaves and a dash of Italianate villa, thanks to a balcony that sits above the drawing room bay, and a pair of triple-arched windows across the first floor of the south-west façade where terraced lawns drop away to woodland. This bedroom embodies the modest grandeur of English country-house style. The walls are in ‘Linen Stripe’ by Arthouse.

Flea market furniture is a great fit for a tween girl’s room due to its affordability and timeless appeal. This Victorian dresser was picked up for $50, updated with two coats of glossy plum paint, then given a touch of whimsy with satin brass house numbers used as drawer pulls.

A mezzanine bedroom is the ideal solution for a small space, especially if you fit in a built-in wardrobe behind the bed. But designer Maurizio Pellizzoni had to jump through several hoops to get planning permission for the staircase, which links the mezzanine bedroom to the sitting room. First the had to be craned in, then the council had to close the street while giant glass panels for the bedroom were hoisted up into place. Maurizio refers to this project, done for his friend Andrew Daniell in London’s Shoreditch, as the James Bond flat, because of its technology and slick looks. It’s a bachelor pad, but the striped blanket adds a soft splash of colour in an otherwise monochromatic scheme (find a similar one from Welsh weavers Melin Tregwynt, £95 at John Lewis).

Ahí te sientes totalmente a gusto.

This townhouse was designed for a collector and we wanted to ensure that every room particularly the bedroom remained elegant and classic while providing a backdrop for the magnificent collection of works of art and antiques. The antique carpet provided us with the initial inspiration for the colour scheme of the bedroom; we chose to echo its green tones throughout the room from the walls to details and furnishings like the cushions.

The bedroom should be one of the most comfortable and relaxing rooms in your home. That’s why I prefer a soothing colour palette that helps you to unwind after a long day. I feel that gold accents and luxurious textiles such as velvet and silk complement warmer tones very well and give it a high-end look without compromising the comfort. I like the rest of the decor quite minimalist though so the room doesn’t look too busy. Simple and chic is the way to go! Image credit

Yes, even if your bedroom is small, you can still have a wow-inducing accent wall, as proven so strikingly here by Décor Gold Designs. Bold wallpaper has a place even in the tiniest of rooms. Just stick with one wall – preferably the one at the head of your bed – and keep the rest of the room sedate in terms of color and pattern.

i agree with lily and not any with lizzy cuz if your room is small than make it so that things can fit in your room but most importantly make it so its your style and that you will injoy going in your room every day. plus if you hated your room the way you desinged you would have to spend more cash witch you would not want. i mean these are really good desings that is on the website, and people will love these desings too but others wont but for me i LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE these desings. dont give up cuz of people who dont like these ideas, keep doing what you love cuz people like me love your ideas and other people do to and it would break there heart to know that you quit!!!!:) welp hope to see more of your designs! later!
