you are my sunshine themed bedroom for little girls _living conditions with two girls and a boy in a two bedroom apartment in california

I’m 10 & my room has looked like what it is 3. Some of these rooms are awesome ( i would love a built in loft), but come on how long is ur room gonna stay like that? I love some of the rooms, but some r like insanly to neat.

The owners of this Somerset country house had not anticipated taking on such a large project, but their careful renovation enhanced by modern decorative touches resulted in a smart, yet comfortable, forever home. The daughter’s bedroom has a pastel palette and a simple white bed frame, allowing mixed patterns to work well together. The grey and cream rug is ‘Cora’ from The Rug Company.

This bedroom resides in a period home with high ceilings, classically inspired mouldings and beautiful parquet flooring. As if that isn’t enough, it’s filled with a mixture of mid-century furniture and lighting, breathtaking art and a sophisticated and restrained colour palette. For me it is the embodiment of ‘timelessness’. It will look as good in ten or twenty years time, just as it wouldn’t have looked out of place thirty years ago. It’s also impossible to tell if the owner is male of female. Another sign of simple good taste. And yet, it’s no museum piece, and has all the attributes of a comfortable and restorative bedroom. The pillows are plump and smooth. There’s an extra wool blanket to ward off winter chills. There’s a warm rug for bare feet, and the reading lights are positioned just where they are most effective. There’s even candles handy for when the mood dictates. If I was to add anything, it might be a padded headboard, but then the artwork wouldn’t be centre stage. That’s another word for this room. If we were to have a house in the Hamptons this is how we imagine it would be decorated, but let’s face it, the combination of wall cladding, print bedding and a picture wall of pretty illustrations would look good anywhere.

In this children’s bedroom in Paris – its elegance quite unlike any other child’s bedroom – the walls are adorned with painted medallions hanging on beaded strings. Each medallion contains a motif, a religious icon or mythical creature, which ‘watch over’ the children as they sleep. The medallions are by Jorge Estevez – who claims he is a decorator, and not an artist.

The spare bedroom in this glamorous chalet in the French Alps was designed by Kate Earle using a neutral palette and myriad clever details. Case in point: the painted frieze and grouping of wicker mirrors above the bed, which were bought at the Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair.

The bedroom of this London townhouse is the work of Amanda Baring, who designed it for her sister, the owner. The neutral hues keep it calm and warm, while a collection of black and white etchings decorate the walls.

This bedroom in Soho Farmhouse features wood panelling. Mixing bare wood with white painted panels gives the room texture as well as a rustic feel. The pale scheme includes framed prints and large rugs.

Washi tape is no longer what I thought it was… I must admit that I thought washi tape was a little young and too decorative for too many truly cool projects. This one has me rethinking this belief. I am so decorating my bedroom door with black and purple washi tape this weekend! Be sure to send pics if you do the same- add them in the comments below. This is one of those super easy projects to do at home that you wish you had thought of doing much sooner. So creative, so clever!

As a designer, there is nothing more important when telling the story of a shared space, then showing BOTH personalities of a room. It’s OK to break the rules. Symmetry isn’t always best. Meaning, and Intention on the other hand, is what great design is all about. It’s what I have built my entire Design Business on. Image credit

all these rooms are SUPER cool. Awesome creativity! But next time, it’d be great if maybe you guys could design a room thats, well, more affordable looking/ realistic. I mean, c’mon, we’re teenagers who dont really have THAT much extra cash on hand to use on hand haha. And maybe ‘simpler’ room sizes. The loft one is super cool, but its not like everyone has a loft in their room. . . . awesome ideas though!

These girls bedroom ideas stresses upon extravagant use of singular colour, thus defining the mood and personality of the occupant. Lilac gives a royal inclination to the room. The shear curtain in white dropping down from a hanging lilac flower against a lilac background gives way to an interesting concept. The white furniture looks remarkable and the colour white leaves a serene impact on the atmosphere.

An architecturally significant building from the Fifties by Victor Gruen (the architect who invented the shopping mall), the owners wanted to retain the period character by filling it with classic mid-century pieces. ‘These houses are often furnished with Eames and Mies ven der Rohe, which is just too obvious. While the house, and the furniture I have used in it are historical, I never want the space to feel like a museum,’ he says. ‘I want to stay true to the period, but reframe it for today; the mood now is fresher, softer, more subtle and subdued.’
