Emphasize a soaring ceiling with a showstopping theme. In this playful room, alternating stripes of sky and baby blues creates a tentlike ceiling treatment. A fun theme like this makes room for cool beds for girls. A classic four-poster bed has long-lasting style, while freestanding furniture—such as the desk, chair, and bookshelf—can be replaced or upcycled as she grows older.

Kids are a great joy of family life, but one thing that can be difficult is decorating a bedroom of someone that grows so quickly before your eyes! I’m really big on gender neutral design and looking at this room, you wouldn’t be able to tell whether or not it belonged to a girl or a boy. It’s so bright and natural with bits of contemporary and Scandinavian design. Little elements like the blackboard, bean bags and lights are used to give the room a warm feeling even though the design is really simple. I love where the bed is placed in the corner by a large window too.  My top tip for decorating kids bedrooms is to maximise storage and to keep things simple, kids change their mind and get bored of a lot of things very quickly, we’ve all been there! We love this look because of the fresh take on what could potentially be a period interior. The yellow wall brings it bang up-to-date, freshening the space and bringing the whole room to life. The antique touches of mismatched frames, the oversized wooden bed, stripped back floorboards and the old chandelier contrast perfectly with the statement wall giving it oodles of character. The picture rail breaks up the room giving it plenty of height but the patchwork quilt, rug and cushions keep the room cosy. Image credit

When searching flea markets for dressers, keep in mind that nine-drawer and 12-drawer configurations offer enough concealed storage not only for holding clothes, but also for keeping things like books and diaries neatly organized yet out of sight. As tween girls start to yearn for privacy, it’s wise to supply them with storage for things they don’t want out on display.

Multipurposing will help a tween get much more use out of her room. To create a tween-height gathering area, consider using a coffee table in the center of the bedroom. Once guests come over, the low stature of the coffee table makes it the perfect spot to pull up a pillow and snack while playing games or reading books.

A traditional style, like the British colonial look shown here, doesn’t have to be stuffy. A few shots of color, interesting artwork and accessories, and a pretty upholstered headboard give this classic look fresh sensibilities. Plus, leaning a large mirror against the wall is a great way to add visual size to a small room.

Consider introducing fun filled low cost novelties such as bean bags in jelly beans colors, bright colored bedding, funky lamps, attractive book stands or holders, vibrant window treatments, photo frames, etc. Alternatively, you may also spruce up things by employing distinct items for decoration such as a guitar, a golf stick, skateboard, old posters, trophies and mementos, artificial plants, etc. Also ensure to spread a bright rug on the floor as it is extremely useful for doing miscellaneous tasks.{pics from decorati, pbteen}.

A dash of vintage, a sprinkle of whimsy and a drop of contemporary all seamlessly intertwined into this gorgeous kid’s room styled by Petite Vintage. The easy to reach storage space makes it easy to tidy up and keep things in their place. Plenty of floor space allows for freedom to move, play and imagine, and the bed frame creates a creative space within a space where dreams are made. The colours used are striking and pleasant and the warmth of the http://entertainment.morningdispatcher.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ enhance the colours and soften the geometric lines of the bed frame and the carpet. My tips for decorating a children’s bedroom would be to remember that fairy lights are not just for Christmas – use them in a child’s room to create a dreamy atmosphere and to not be afraid to mix vintage and contemporary styles. I like interiors being minimalist, effortless and welcoming and this bedroom embodies all these things. I love the contrast of the matte black floorboards, the various hues of dark and light grey soft stonewashed linen to curl up in bed on a Sunday morning, the gorgeous atelier windows and the sheet of rusty metal casually lay against the wall and turned into a simple piece of art and a few of our favourite design books. A great combination of simple lines, textures and muted colours. Image credit

Using mirrors will add depth and dimension to a small bedroom because of their unique ability to act like additional windows. Hanging several smaller mirrors in a group can add lots of visual interest, while using one large mirror will instantly create the illusion of more square footage. Photo courtesy of Layla Palmer.

You can create a great view by adding several shelves to your wall, and avoid making them all aligned to each other and equal in size, instead, add a large one and then several smaller ones above. That would help create a nice view to your walls, especially if they are colored. These shelves will also give you a nice space on which you can organize your books, artwork, and little girly stuff.

If you’re after a particular style, finding a piece that fits perfectly with your ideal can be an epic struggle. In the case of this shabby chic mirror, one would have been hard-pressed to find something akin to this particular Renaissance design in the modern day. Rather than settle on a less desirable piece, this gorgeous mirror was hand-crafted from an old door, transformed into a mirror frame. Finding an old door to refurbish also grants the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind piece, and will more than likely carry a much less hefty price tag than a similar antique or antique-inspired article.
