While a bedroom should be pleasing to the eye it should also be comfortable too. Oftentimes, bed companions have difficulty in finding a bed that matches both their preferences. This could be because a single person needs to rise while resting while the various other likes a flatter placement for improved comfort. A split flexible bed can provide an excellent compromise that will suit the demands of both individuals.

In interior design, texture plays an important part in the way that we perceive how a space feels. For your master bedroom, you’ll want it to feel warm, inviting and cozy, among other positive attributes. You can easily bring a homey feel to the space by using plenty of textiles.

I adore white painted walls and then really experimenting with pattern and colour in the soft furnishings and bedroom accessories. Floral patterns are always a favourite of mine for a feminine look and the brighter the colours the better. The informal group of pretty postcards fixed with washi tape is super cute and I like being able to easily change the display to suit my mood and the season. The look is a little bit granny chic so suits my love of hunting for eclectic items in charity shops. Even on a dull day this bedroom would cheer me up. Image credit

On paper, this room shouldn’t be lovely at all – tiny, with barely any room for even a bed, and crammed with bright colours and clashing patterns. But in reality, this space, which I shot for my book Home for Now, is actually one of my favourite bedrooms I’ve ever worked in. This gorgeous sea green hue breathes life into this bijou space, whilst ingenious storage ideas, such as using a wall-mounted telephone table instead of a bedside unit, and hanging storage pockets on the wall, make best use of the available space. It proves that if you have courage in your design convictions, you can make anything work, whatever the challenge. Image credit

As a designer, there is nothing more important when telling the story of a shared space, then showing BOTH personalities of a room. It’s OK to break the rules. Symmetry isn’t always best. Meaning, and Intention on the other hand, is what great design is all about. It’s what I have built my entire Design Business on. Image credit

A net of interlocking ribbons attached to blank walls is a great way to display your favorite photos, postcards or other paper memorabilia. Plus, the art can be switched out at any time to suit changing moods, styles or tastes.

I would describe this bedroom as ‘cosy contemporary’ and it’s the sort of space I could relax in at the end of a busy day.  It is fairly minimalist, but not as stark as a white or grey bedroom, with an on trend geo pattern and a soft colour palette, with http://www.krgv.com/story/37622080/news warmth from the brass lamp and wooden side table.  I also love the white painted floor boards and think it is a look that could be quite easy to re-create. Image credit

As a baseline, selecting streamlined furniture is essential to keep the room feeling as spacious as possible and allow for storage and playing. If your kids are old enough, bunk beds are always an excellent choice. Whether L-shaped or vertical, a bunk bed is an efficient use of space and oftentimes has built-in storage underneath.

A tiny swatch won’t do white paint justice. Nail your pick by coating a poster board with the potential hue, and see how it looks during the day and at night. Here, a warmer tone keeps the bedroom glam yet cozy.

Amazing collection Emily! Among all, the design of Alina Isaev is the one that captured my attention the most. Perfect combination of simplicity and elegance, this is what I want my dream room to look like.

Give your tween girl an extra layer of privacy with bed drapery. In addition to using the drapery as an opportunity to play with pattern and color, it’s also a great way to allow any sleepover guests to sleep in once the sun starts beaming in through the window.

If you’re looking for feng shui bedroom design ideas, then consider that it’s recommended you use warm earthy colors to create a welcoming environment, or softer blues and greens to create a tranquil ambiance. Bright colors, such as fuchsia and orange, are too stimulating in huge blocks, so use them as accents around the room to brighten up the space and provide hints of passion, an important part of a romantic bedroom.

When it comes to feng shui bedrooms, a free-flowing layout is crucial. The ideal placement for your bed is as far away from the door as possible, but still in a position that lets you see the entrance; usually, the corner diagonally across from the door is the best spot. Try and avoid having your head under a window due to the ebb and flow of energy going in and out; this causes disturbed and interrupted sleep. Do not position your bed so as to have your feet point out the door while you’re sleeping; this is called the “Death Position” as the deceased are carried out feet first, and sleeping this way is said to drain your life force.

A smaller space doesn’t mean smaller furniture. “One of my pet peeves is miniature bedside tables. Especially next to a larger bed frame and mattress—tiny nightstands can look so dorky,” says Humphrey, who advises his clients to buy normal-size furnishings for small spaces. “It can actually make a small room look bigger and will be more useful and functional,” he adds. Humphrey also picks pieces that can do double duty and makes room for essential pieces. “In my own (small) bedroom I don’t have room for a dresser, so I have large nightstands with drawers that hold my clothes,” he says. “And even if it’s a tight fit, I always want at least a small chair in the corner (dining size can work in a pinch) or bench at the end of the bed as a catchall for clothes, pillows, or whatever garments get flung around before bed.”

This Little Princess door sign and curtain makes it pretty obvious whose room you’re looking at. Everything is pink, from the doodle-style sign to the sparkly curtain, which is perfect for a whimsical little girl’s room. futurahomedecorating.

This is my masterpiece for Snowflake. I made this desk and shelving unit for her. I will have posts on how I made them for you next week, I think. She loves it and it provides a great place for her to complete her school work.

No teenage girl’s bedroom is complete without a vanity. This design is elegant and gorgeous while still maintaining a modern and sophisticated air. The intricately wrought Victorian-style mirror sets the basis for the Parisian flair further expounded upon with the Eiffel Tower sculpture and artwork, but still pairs well with the sleek lines of the minimalist vanity and drawers. A stylish floating bookshelf adds further storage area without overpowering the space and provides an ideal spot to place delicate decor items to further the feminine appeal, like flower accents.

Can this possibly be the perfect bedroom? Let’s talk about the colour. This bedroom has the ever so popular grey wall. It’s modernised by adding a touch of yet another grey that has the slightest hint of a muted lavender. It’s pleasing to both men and women because this colour palette falls right smack in the middle of the appeal for both sexes. The black adds a nice masculinity and grounding to the room shown in the strong stripe of the area rug and gorgeous texture in the frames. The hard lines of the end tables are softened by soft white fabrics and an undulated headboard which add femininity to this space. If you’re after a particular style, finding a piece that fits perfectly with your ideal can be an epic struggle. In the case of this shabby chic mirror, one would have been hard-pressed to find something akin to this particular Renaissance design in the modern day. Rather than settle on a less desirable piece, this gorgeous mirror was hand-crafted from an old door, transformed into a mirror frame. Finding an old door to refurbish also grants the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind piece, and will more than likely carry a much less hefty price tag than a similar antique or antique-inspired article.
