That would depend on what your bedroom looks like right now. We pulled up existing carpet and put in hardwood floors, built the closet with custom closet doors to match the wallpaper, added new window treatments, painted, wallpapered, and added all new girls bedroom mirror and custom bedding in this space.

An effortless way to bring color into a stark room is through the addition of flower-based art pieces. These can be made very painlessly at home with scrap wood, plastic flowers, wood letters, and a hot glue gun, letting you take control of the types and colors of flowers employed in your unique piece. Easy to customize brings another positive aspect: making multiple words in different shades and hues makes it simple and straightforward to swap out depending on your mood, the season, or the closest holiday. In a space that’s primarily made up of a neutral palette, these delicate and feminine designs bursting with life and color can drastically alter the feel of a room, bringing in a wealth of brightness and joy.

The bedroom is a place when you should be able to relax, rest and sleep well. The space therefore should be simple, clean and uncluttered. Ban all the unnecessary items and focus on the essentials – comfy pillows, soft bedding, good light for reading, and small bedside table to keep your books and water carafe. Create a space where you can rest your eyes and calm your mind, and it means white walls and no busy patterns. I am drawn to this bedroom because of the colour palette – all in soft brown tones. There is a feeling of calm and the crumpled linen looks very inviting. The only decoration it needs is a single artwork on the wall. The beauty here is in simplicity. Image credit

Although your bedroom color scheme is often a personal opinion, there are some paint colors that are more relaxing and better suited for your sleeping area. Studies have found that people with blue bedrooms often get more sleep because of the calmness it elicits. Brighter colors may lead to a better mood, but they also might keep you up longer at night. If you have a significant other with opposing tastes, consider master bedroom colors falling within the neutral range — such as variations of green, gray or brown — to keep everyone happy. Sharing many bedroom pictures that you’ve saved to your ideabook can be a great way to help your significant other get a sense of your bedroom remodeling ideas.

Give your tween girl an extra layer of privacy with bed drapery. In addition to using the drapery as an opportunity to play with pattern and color, it’s also a great way to allow any sleepover guests to sleep in once the sun starts beaming in through the window.

Looking to add a little preppy charm to your space? Start with one or two saturated colors like deep magenta and navy blue, then pull it all together with crisp white bordered bedding and accent pieces in a fun chevron print.

Love the photos, really gave me some ideas on decorating my next flat. The bedroom in the new property is quite small but the walls are painted in a cream colour – will be easy to pick the right elements to decorate it. Since I’m a tenant, I’ll have to find non-destructive ways of decorating the place. I will also have to think how I’ll remove and clean the place when my tenancy comes to an end, but this isn’t a problem since London is full of shops and I have plenty of things to choose from.

A little bit Midsummer Night’s Dream, a little bit folksy, this nature-inspired bedroom comes out quite high on the girly decorating scale, even with it’s blue-hued colour palette. A scattering of cushions embroidered with birds and butterflies brings a touch of whimsy, while a sheer lavender canopy draped over the bed keeps the look light and airy. Accessories in natural materials, such as the woven lampshade, cut through the blue to keep the space from becoming overwhelmingly dreamy!

What fun to see into your girls room! It will also be fun to see the progress you make in them. Maybe you could of had the girls toss a coin over the large room. Leaving it up to chance then dissolves any bitterness towards a parent who made the calll. I heard this parenting advice years ago and it works great in situations like this where there seems to be no right answer. I might add though firstborn children had a special inheritance in bible days. They are the “first fruit” from the womb and God treats them a bit differently. You may want to look it up, it is a bit hard for me to explain. Just so you know I am a middle child, so I have those issues! I am a mom of 4 boys so I know it is hard to treat them equally, and also realize they are different! We have an en-suite bedroom with a bathroom which my oldest used until he moved away from college. Then my 2nd oldest moved in and will be there until he moves out. And so on it will go. It works for us! Have a lovely weekend!

I have chosen this image because, as a Mum of 3-year-old boy and girl twins, this is such a great example of how to style a shared bedroom. Not only do the colours complement each other so well, but the room looks matched, even though it is for both sexes. The shelving is perfect for storing toys and books, and they can accessorize it with their own items. I am drawn to the simplicity of the design, and contemporary style especially as we now live in a modern new build home. My tips for styling a twins’ shared room is to keep it simple, use colour schemes that complement each other and involve the children in the process – as they usually like to have a say in what they prefer! Amazing collection Emily! Among all, the design of Alina Isaev is the one that captured my attention the most. Perfect combination of simplicity and elegance, this is what I want my dream room to look like.
