The interior of this eco ‘dwelle-ing’ is flooded with natural light thanks to skylights, glass doors and windows. The effect is intensified in this garden room by white walls and a neutral colour palette (see our white room ideas and how to use white paint). Enough space is created on a mezzanine level for a bedroom and workspace, with a kitchen underneath.

When it comes to home decor and bedroom styling I like my room to depict a clean, fresh ambience and provide a good air flow. My bedroom is where I go to unwind and read and it’s important that the space correlates with my wellbeing and mood. I adore neutral coloured bedrooms, with delicate pieces of furniture and accessories. Lighting and the ambience it provides is really important and I do recommend up to three different lighting focal points within a room, ranging from ceiling lights to bedside lamps. It’s also fun to play with a variety of different lightbulbs so that you can have a choice of whether to have a bright light on or something softer to suit your mood. Cushions and throws add character to a bedroom and provide different levels of texture which can make a room fabulous. I’m very fond of shabby chic furniture in a bedroom because it conveys a very romantic Parisian flair. With the correct accessories and a delicate neutral palette a glamorous shabby chic bedroom can be achieved and fabulously lived in. Image credit

Your children are only young once so create a magical environment with furnishings and accessories that will kick start their imaginations. Curtained cubby hole bunkbeds are also a perfect way to give siblings their own space.

Taking on the conversion of a disused chapel in Somerset, artist Jonathan Delafield Cook, illustrator Laura Stoddart and their two children (11 and 13 years old) have made the smooth transition from incomers to long-term residents. In this bedroom a simple storage wall has been filled with coloured boxes that match the rainbow pom poms at the window. A sweet mid-century desk for home work sits in front of the window.

I have seen this image come up on my Pinterest feed a few times in the past and have always thought I would love to be lying in that bed reading a good book! I love the contrast of black and white and think it’s a clever decision to have the fur on the end of the bed so it warms up the rest of the scheme. The artwork is oversized but not overpowering and I am always drawn to a simple colour palette- in this case it’s black, white and brown with a touch of gold. It’s simple, elegant and beautiful.  Image credit

I adore a nursery that is simple, bright and happy – this space in Australia made me smile the second I spotted it. From the clean white walls (that can be easily touched up when the toddler years start!), bold illustrations on the walls, to the cosy chair with cool cushions for feeding or cuddles, it’s my idea of a gorgeous room. I love that midcentury style cabinet with it’s display of vintage toys and fun artwork. It also offers a useful storage solution for all those little things that constantly need tidying away. If I was going to be decorating a baby’s room again, this is a look I would be completely inspired by. It’s perfect for a girl or a boy and a space that they can grow into too. The only thing I would be looking to add is something hanging from the ceiling. Babies love to look up, so a mobile or a garland would be great above the cot. Image Credit

Add some sparkle to a princess-themed room with a starry wallpapered ceiling. This room’s blue ceiling, as well as small pops of powder blues, lavender, and bright coral, breaks up a mostly pink color scheme. Statement light fixtures above the bed give extra glamour that can carry into teenage years.

When designer Douglas Mackie and his partner Julian Jackson bought this house in the Languedoc region of the South of France, it was a chance for Douglas – a knowledgeable collector of textiles – to show off his stock of older, ethnic pieces. ‘I have always been an avid collector of pieces from North Africa and Asia, and now their rich saturated colours sit wonderfully well in the shafts of sunlight of a southern home.’ In the spare bedroom a Persian jajim hangs against the brush-plastered wall in place of a headboard. On the floor is a vintage Moroccan rug, while the bed linen is from Conran.

My favourite bedroom has got to be my own. First of all, our ‘Breaking Bad’ style crocheted throw. Doug and I got completely addicted to this piece of TV genius and are convinced it is going to seriously influence Interior Trends for the next decade – the architecture in Albuquerque is so nice: slightly Mexican with a modern ‘edge’. The artwork above the bed is by my husband, Douglas. His work is our pension. The 1980’s style TV in the corner is a reassuring presence, as is the retro gas fire – all perfect for our unique, one off 1970’s house. The wire shelving racks are the perfect place to put books, phones and our industrial style inspection lamps. Image credit

When it comes to bunk beds for kids, three words: versatility, versatility, versatility. This stylish bed works as a traditional bunk, or easily separates into a loft bed with a twin bed underneath (or an ‘I shaped’ bunk bed) – perfect for awkward or small spaces.

After visiting her friend Kathryn Ireland in France’s Tarn region, Anne Halsey bought a French farmhouse retreat there and enlisted the help of the decorator to create a relaxed space perfect for entertaining. Hints of pink add a soft touch a bedroom, in which ‘Toile’ by Kathryn M Ireland was used for the curtains, headboard and footboard; to one side is a free-standing bath.

Tip: If your child wants a specific theme, aim for elements that can be interpreted multiple ways. Here, the parents chose to leave the monkeys, elephants, and clowns at the real circus and instead incorporated a tent theme that can be worked into other decor as the years go on.

Coloured lights are always a cute addition to a kids’ room. This display of ball lights strung around a set of white painted ladders is the perfect way to illuminate a corner and create a stylish feature at the same time.

This bedroom by Samantha Pynn is my dream bedroom! The soft colour palette with the simple design gives this room such relaxing feel, while the blue floral ceramic stool and pillows add another dimension to the room, and keep it from feeling too soft. The sheer curtains let in lots of light, keeping the room lovely and bright.

In this bedroom in Morocco, a large Twenties French poster hung above the low-level bed acts as an extension of the headboard. For similar vintage posters of this size, head to Rennies Seaside Modern in Kent, or visit its online shop.

A cozy, pillow-lined window seat is the perfect spot for a teen girl to write, read or imagine. This sweet seat is flanked by pretty white and gold sconces for easy-access reading light and a small side table to hold drinks and snacks. It also doubles as chic built-in storage!

This year we decided to give our bedroom a mini makeover. Sometimes a theme wall can do the trick as is the case here where Farrow & Ball’s Dix Blue was used as the background. The room feels light and airy and I won’t deny it, feminine too. The tall headboard of the upholstered bed and the brass accessories give it a luxurious look that is always a pleasure to come back to.

I’m really into using dark colours in the bedroom. It creates such an intimate vibe and I find it incredibly relaxing, plus it’s super sophisticated and very glamorous! The designer did a great job in creating a room that incorporates beautiful traditional elements like the panelling and mouldings, but brings it up to date with bold lighting and metallics. To make this room more ‘me’ I’d add a few more POP art elements, calm accent colours and a bit of street chic with the accessories. Image credit

Designer Robin Callan created a chic, Paris-style bedroom by creating pint-sized elegance among a playful pink and green color palette. Coordinate fabrics of various textures and patterns to create a look that is both visually appealing and eye-catching. Robin collected fabrics that integrate the same pink and green hues to keep the room from appearing overwhelming or busy.

A mix of contemporary and period furniture styles are pulled together by an aged apple green wall colour that is both modern and yet has vintage appeal. Combined with a statement rug and abstract wall art, the result is eclectic but extremely elegant.

Tween girls are known for taking a major interest in fashion. Play up the runway by using fashion fabrics for her room’s upholstery. While this pair of Louis armchairs is upholstered in violet velvet, it’s made fresh with pillows sewn from women’s dress fabric in a flame-stitch pattern.

A unique chest of drawers with a sketch of a columned building livens up the bedside in this London home designed by Freddy van Zevenbergen. Freddy says the owner ‘wanted it to feel a bit like Loulou’s,’ Robin Birley’s louche-luxe private members’ club in Mayfair, which Lambart & Browne designed in 2012.

The owners of this west London house employed a skilled team to restore and complement its original features, and create a home with a feeling of permanence after a lifetime of moving. The house is a tall, mid-nineteenth-century white stucco building that they wanted to work well for twenty-first-century family life. ‘We were determined to avoid beige banker chic,’ the owner explains. A portrait by Betsy Podlach above the Howe fireplace inspired the palette for the main bedroom.

Originally, Claire intended to do the decoration of the house herself. ‘Rather naively, I thought it would be enjoyable. To begin, I went to a Graham & Green warehouse sale somewhere on the A40. It was a complete bun fight and I felt totally overwhelmed. I came back with one armchair that now lives in the playroom and said to Dom, We are going to need help.’

I’m drawn to minimalist interiors because I find space, clean lines and simplicity extremely calming. For me, a bedroom should be clear of clutter. Like a blissful sanctuary to escape to at the end of a busy day. I love the elegance of this room, the grey bed, bedding and classic chair give it character. While the glass doors bring a little bit of the outside in. It’s a stunning space and I’m it’s an uplifting room to wake up in. Image credit

Fruitwood commode, papered in Fifties wallpaper, 82 x 100 x 56cm, £2,200, from Fleur de Bois. King-size divan, ‘De Luxe’, £2,785, from Vi-Spring. Headboard, ‘Livia’, from £980, from Ensemblier; covered in ‘Nightingale Stripe’ (ice blue), by Le Gracieux, hemp, £298 a metre, at Tissus d’Hélène. Iron and leather bench, ‘Cleopatra’, 40 x 102 x 40cm, £1,600, at Victoria Stainow.

Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay, the owner of this Victorian country house in Shropshire, has enhanced the interiors of this grand property with her signature mid-century aesthetic without compromising original features.

Have a small space? This kids’ room designed by Eve Mercier packs a lot of punch. Housed in a petite family home (a former artist’s studio in Chelsea), this multi-purpose room includes a loft bed, two wall-mounted benches that transform into beds (bed-linen is concealed below), and a third, drawer bed (pictured here) which slides out when needed.

Bedrooms should be calming and seductive spaces, and this bedroom ticks both those boxes.  It has a calming, neutral pallet that is kept interesting through a mix of textures – wooden floors and ceiling, the white-painted brick wall, a sisal rug, a glamorous fur throw, and the marble bedside table.  The painted black wall adds another layer of luxury and glamour to this space, but the large, simple artwork keeps it from being too dark.  Interest to this monotone colour scheme is also brought in through the architectural style of lighting, and the pattern in the cushions.  All in all a perfect combination! Image credit

well I was looking for ideas for a small room and how everything will fit into it, and I stumble on this website. I can now breathe a breath of fresh air cause I found several that I love. And the colour skim are amazing. Thanks much! Well appreciated.

An architecturally significant building from the Fifties by Victor Gruen (the architect who invented the shopping mall), the owners wanted to retain the period character by filling it with classic mid-century pieces. ‘These houses are often furnished with Eames and Mies ven der Rohe, which is just too obvious. While the house, and the furniture I have used in it are historical, I never want the space to feel like a museum,’ he says. ‘I want to stay true to the period, but reframe it for today; the mood now is fresher, softer, more subtle and subdued.’

Being a teen girl myself, I have to say this is not realistic whatsoever. I don’t know about all the other girls, but I would have liked something WITHOUT having to go out and buy everything new. That’s just my opinion, some of these were great to dream about..but not all of us could afford this.

WALLS Paint, ‘Azurite’, £41.50 for 2.5 litres natural emulsion, from Edward Bulmer Natural Paints. Framed vintage print (left), 85 x 115cm, £850, from William Yeoward. Framed lithograph, Surrounded Islands, by Christo and Jeanne Claude, 75 x 110cm, £1,200, from Wilson Stephens & Jones.

While pretty is important, practicality is also a must. White furniture can remain in the room through all stages of childhood. Bedding, accessories, and paint colors can easily be changed as tastes go from little girl to teen. The many storage options, such as built-in cabinets and nightstands, can readily go from holding dolls to fashion magazines and makeup.

The owners of this newbuild Bahamas beach house turned to trusted interior designer John McCall to provide their house with a British sensibility, practical furnishings and interiors that are not ‘too beachy’. In this bedroom white walls, ceiling, carpet and bedding is brought to life with patterned blinds, headboards and a colourful rug. All of the patterns are different, introducing an element of fun and vacation spirit.

This sweet daybed, with its heavenly canopy and pretty metallic wall stickers, makes for the perfect girls’ bedroom retreat for reading, napping or simply daydreaming. Dusty lilac walls and the lack of clutter also has a calming effect.

I love this luxurious bedroom designed for a colour blind client. The careful mix of pattern and texture maximises the visual impact he gets from it, without being overwhelming for anyone else. It’s a large, bright space that could take a lot of colour without looking busy, and can easily absorb big pieces (the bed is actually a super king). The walk-in wardrobe has a to-die-for amount of storage in addition to the 3 massive wardrobes alongside the bed, which allows for everything to be put away and hidden, so that you can  enjoy the bright colours and still have a tranquil space to escape to. Deep jewel tones, such as the turquoise Porta Romana Thread lamps,  and matt metallics allow the scheme to be both rich and restful. The style is very much that of a small boutique hotel – creative and encouraging. It’s not a room you go to to unwind and declutter your mind – it’s an exciting destination in itself. Every texture is interesting,  inviting and playful. The Stark carpet is wonderfully soft under food, and the silk bed throw from Soak and Sleep has a luxurious and subtle sheen to it. Image credit

A hanging statement light, like a chandelier, can really pull together a bedroom and give the eye a focal point. The crystal accents in this chandelier add an interesting element of light and texture when contrasted with the wood flooring and bed frame.

Can’t find a headboard you like? Customise. Paint one directly onto the wall, create an upcycled version out of old doors, or simply cover an existing headboard in a new fabric like shown here, adding plenty of pattern throughout the room for a cosy, layered look.

Everyone knows that both princesses and fairies have tutu skirts, so why not adapt the idea to your little girl’s bed? It’s as easy as creating pleats in sparkly tulle and then securing them to the sides of the bed with fabric glue. handimania.

Although your bedroom color scheme is often a personal opinion, there are some paint colors that are more relaxing and better suited for your sleeping area. Studies have found that people with blue bedrooms often get more sleep because of the calmness it elicits. Brighter colors may lead to a better mood, but they also might keep you up longer at night. If you have a significant other with opposing tastes, consider master bedroom colors falling within the neutral range — such as variations of green, gray or brown — to keep everyone happy. Sharing many bedroom pictures that you’ve saved to your ideabook can be a great way to help your significant other get a sense of your bedroom remodeling ideas.

Citrusy bright, full of cheerful touches, and almost tropical in its sunshiny intensity, here’s a super-colorful bedroom from Lucy and Company that gets everything right: cute wallpaper, well-loved stuffed animals, a cheery throw blanket that ties the color scheme together, and more fun touches in the Roman shade, retro silver bookcase, and glass lamps. But it’s the lime green, sunny yellow, and fuchsia pink palette that steals the show. It’s hard to find a better color combo for a little girl’s…MORE bedroom.

If pink and purple don’t suit your child, look for girl’s room paint ideas that incorporate neutral hues or shades of blue. Gray wallpaper provides a blank canvas in this shared kid’s bedroom, allowing blue painted bunk beds and orange bedding to take center stage.

There are two ways to organize a small bedroom: You can make it dark and cozy with saturated berry reds or chocolate browns. Or, you can boost daylight with barely dressed windows and a light-bouncing color on the wall, such as cloud white or sunshine yellow. Either way, don’t take a weak approach. You can be bold in a small space without risking too much money or effort.

For the teenage photog, displaying favorite snaps is a source of pride that gives a space a singular uniqueness that can’t be imitated. This sweet design can be incorporated into many teen girl room ideas and serve as a centerpiece of a space. Starting with a small heart and slowly building it up is a fun and meaningful project to share with friends and family, giving the artwork that much more sentimentality. When completed, make it even more of a focal point by “framing” it with icicle lights, realizing a tangible personification of the warm glow the photos’ subjects evoke.

Finding bedroom ideas to work in the space you have isn’t always easy. You might have a small or awkward space to work with, or sloping walls that get in the way. Bedrooms need to incorporate various pieces of furniture, or built-in storage, in order to give you a relaxing place to sleep as well as hold your various possessions and clothing. But don’t worry, there’s always a bedroom design that will work with the space you have. Get inspiration from the thousands of pictures from designers and stylists on Houzz; even if you’re struggling with a small bedroom you can find space saving or decorating ideas that could work in your space.

Modern bedrooms: Modern bedrooms are characterised by neutral tones of grey, white and black, all serving as simple, base colours. Walls act as a backdrop to abstract patterns and geometric prints. Lines on furniture are clean, incorporating steel bed frames and side tables. Feature walls are covered in straight striped wallpaper designs, while little splashes of vibrant colours here and there inject visual interest. Accessories are minimal when it comes to modern designs. Storage is important, and should merge in well with the design of the room, while maintaining adequate functionality.

Before buying furniture for your bedroom, you need to decide some factors like wall colour, or bedroom wallpaper, and the type of flooring that you want. Try to choose a colour that will help you create a calm atmosphere and also compliment well with your bedroom furniture. The lighting needs to be chosen wisely as well because a very bright bedroom is not soothing enough, whereas a room with insufficient lighting will hinder activities such as bedtime reading. Accessories add the perfect finishing touch to bedroom designs. For example, soft furnishings add comfort, style and colour whereas beautiful cashmere throws are luxurious and warm. Scented candles add a nice touch and woven baskets provide storage and work well with natural, rustic and eclectic styles. You can also use wallpaper to work with the size and shape of your room, for example, striped wallpaper can make walls look taller, or rooms appear wider, which is particularly good for small rooms.

Teens love spending time in their rooms because they feel safe and comfortable. Naturally drawn to feel-good fabrics and textures, be sure to add some touchy-feely elements in a room. Some ideas include:

Crystals are never the best idea around kids, but you can make an exception for a little princess’s room, surely. This pink chandelier is really beautiful and the princess of the realm will never really outgrow it.

This room has this funny little corner. It works as a great place to set up a doll shop, house or barn yard. I also have hooks on the walls for her to hang up her backpack and any other bags. There are better pics of this corner and the hooks in the post I wrote about easy toy storage.

Flea market furniture is a great fit for a tween girl’s room due to its affordability and timeless appeal. This Victorian dresser was picked up for $50, updated with two coats of glossy plum paint, then given a touch of whimsy with satin brass house numbers used as drawer pulls.

I absolutely love this bedroom and it has actually inspired my own bedroom makeover. The bold use of indigo is classy and sophisticated and creates a sleep-inducing atmosphere. Blue is a very calming and soothing colour to use in the bedroom and can aid restful sleep. The use of chunky knits, Damask prints and patterned cushions adds to the cosy feel of this room. Image credit

This pink little girl’s room idea is a thrill for a kid at any age. The soft pink wall color is age-neutral, and the ornate rug and tufted bed frame can grow up along with your little girl. A crystal chandelier adds sparkle and maturity to the space. For a girl’s bedroom idea for a small room, stick with a twin bed and narrow furniture with plenty of storage.

Isn’t this just so cute? The shelf with the doll clothes hanging from it is part of my $24 shelving solution (which is now split up between the two rooms). Love how she has the horses all in the stable.

When it comes to children’s decor, my eye is always drawn to white, airy rooms with playful details to add warmth and colour. Jenson’s gender neutral nursery is a perfect example of this, with his sweet ladybug bedding and special wooden toys out on display. There’s space to let him play unrestricted, with stylish storage boxes to tidy away any clutter afterwards. It’s also a room that can easily grow with him for years to come. Whilst monochrome is the trend of the moment, it can be surprisingly tricky to get right. The key is to find a balance and you can do this by adding in more soft tones and textures such as wooden accents, a fun wallpaper or contrasting prints. Not only does it make the space more interesting, but it doesn’t restrict you to one overly coordinated look. The choice of bed in a girl’s room could normally aid to create the focal point for the space. When choosing a bed, it is typically best to consider a bed as well as head board that can grow with the youngster. There are a variety of means to do this. A canopy bed, for example, can conveniently be equipped with soft draperies that are ideal for a more youthful girl and afterwards updated with something elder as she gets older. Twin head boards, consisting of timber headboards and also functioned iron head boards, are additionally examples of furnishing pieces that could grow with the age of the youngster when incorporated with age ideal bed linen choices.

It is a common belief that most girls are quite attracted to the color pink. So if you are thinking of decorating the room for your twin girls, you may want to include the color pink wherever possible. The floor carpet and the bed covers can be matched. You could also use a different, probably a lighter shade of pink for the walls and furniture. To add a bit of color, you may add white or something contrasting such as green. Adding polka dots in design on pillow covers or the rug may add an elegant edge to your twin teenage girls bedroom.

I love the calming look of this bedroom and the use of natural textures and images. The bedding colour palette of pale grey and blush pink works beautifully together and helps evoke a peaceful atmosphere.  For me, a cosy bedroom incorporates plenty of pillows and cushions on the bed and a throw to add extra warmth, and different textures add interest. The icing on the cake is the stunning forest wall mural. It’s got a magical feel to it and transports you to another place. Even if you’re living in the middle of a city, you’d get that fantastic view when you get out of bed in the morning. While it’s generally true that oversize furniture doesn’t work in a small room, there are always exceptions. For example, the canopy bed here is nearly as large as the tiny bedroom, but instead of cramped, the space looks perfect. In my opinion it perfectly interprets what I call the key elements of successful bedroom design: clean lines and uncluttered surfaces in combination with warm materials, rich textures and soothing colours. Add a few pools of light and you got yourself the perfect recipe for a cosy haven of relaxation. There are so many ways to make a bedroom special and unique, from a vintage mirror so she can play dress up to generous storage to hide away her toys and clothes. We take a look through 40 inspirational ideas to help create the perfect girl’s bedroom.

A teen will most appreciate an approach to their room as their mini, self-contained apartment where they can spend most of their time comfortably. Regardless of size, a teen’s bedroom needs to be versatile enough for them to spread out and get homework done, hang with friends, lounge and sleep, all while reflecting their personality.

During the initial design stages we find it interesting to focus on one key piece and use its colours, look and feel as a starting point for inspiration – this could be anything from a statement painting to an antique rug. Image credit

Using a small desk next to your bed will create a dual-purpose opportunity. Not only does it act as an oversized nightstand, but pair it with a small chair to serves as a work surface, too. We’ve already seen this design as a bed, but it’s more practical as a table lamp. This little gold carriage is the stuff fairytales are made of, and it’s definitely something girls will grow with and cherish. Via potterybarnkids.

Teenage girls’ bedroom decor should be different from a little girl’s bedroom. Designs for teenage girls’ bedrooms should reflect her maturing tastes and style with a youthful yet more sophisticated look and need to be very stylish, modern, fashionable an

For a much more one-of-a-kind and contemporary look, consider a bed with blended products. Blended timber as well as metal headboards in a range of designs are presently quite prominent. These types of beds look fantastic with strong bed linens in addition to geometric patterns. Wood beds can quickly offer a typical appearance or an extra modern look relying on the style and also the accents and bed linen that are used combined with them.

Cool beds for girls don’t need to be castle-shaped or have a slide. Sometimes what makes a bed unique is where it’s placed. In this case, the perfect little nook. A happy shade of pink surrounds a sleeping alcove with year-round freshness. The peony pattern is charming for a young girl, yet mature enough to suit her well into her teen years. For a fun twist, pair girls’ bedroom colors, like pink, with a hint of teal. Here, a scalloped border of robin’s egg blue provides a sweet contrast for this playful pink bedroom.

A teenage girl bedroom would mostly look beautiful and a place to take refuge in when it is given a royal touch. A daughter or in our case here, twin daughters, are princess for their parents. Giving them a room with a royal theme only enhances that bond. Beautifully draped beds and footstools make up a great sleeping area. You can add vintage mirrors along with royal upholstery in the room.

Shopping Bag Supply Holders: Instead of throwing away, you can repurpose those really cute and really strong shopping bags for more storage in teen girls room to corral everything from hair ties to markers. See the instructions via lezoemusings.

Choose boxes in the same sizes so they can be stacked on top of each other. Cubby-hole-type shelving units that accommodate boxes are useful, too. Cupboard space is essential as well, for clothes and toys. Plus a bookcase means all of your child’s favourite reads will be close to hand.

An eclectic mix of styles doesn’t have to take up much room – in fact, sometimes a small space really highlights a wonderful blend of décor. This tiny bedroom, for example, combines Asian, retro, and rustic touches for a result that’s huge bedroom color themes for 8 year old girls personality and style. Another great tip for a small master bedroom: instead of bedside lamps, save space with pendant lights.

Prior to this tween girl’s bedroom redesign, the walls were covered in bright lilac paint, which gave it more of a little girl’s identity. In order to make it cool enough for a tween yet classic enough for parents, the space would be painted a dark shade of violet, the dated wall-to-wall carpet would be replaced with gray-toned vinyl plank flooring and the childish furniture would be swapped out for colorful vintage pieces.

Artfully display classic toys to soften the look of a neutral room and add soft furnishings such as small armchairs to delineate a play space. Create useful additional storage by adding shelves to a redundant fireplace.

Accent colors are all the rage, but they don’t just have to be on your walls. Bring the brightness to your furniture by painting the backs, shelves, or sides (or all of the above!) of bookcases a festive hue, like this fun and funky gray and pastel pink bookshelf. The same concept can be applied to a number of different pieces of furniture, like the drawers of dressers or the legs of desks. Feel free to go wild; there’s no place better suited to be coated with color than a teenage girl’s bedroom. Be bright and bold with your choices, or opt for more subtle and muted shades— either way, contrasting colors are a trendy and fashionable choice when it comes to teen girl room ideas.

I love the diversity in this post. You can find inspiration for everything – from cosy and snuggly bedrooms to dark and mysterious ones. Especially liked the one with the wall mural, feels like sleeping in the forest, out in the fresh and crisp air. I remember seeing a similar design but with rain clouds. I think natural wall murals bring peace and serenity to the bedroom.

Buenos dias.

A ti q te parece??

Me ayudarias? Graciassss

I’m so glad you could gain an idea or two from my pics! The shelving unit on top of the Trofast is another shelf from IKEA. I don’t remember which system it was from but I bet if you look at an IKEA or on their site you could find it. It was an add on shelf that I thought would work perfectly there from storing some of their larger items. My girls have adjusted to having their own space. They really like it. Though most Friday nights you will find them having a slumber party with their sister. ?

Teens love spending time in their rooms because they feel safe and comfortable. Naturally drawn to feel-good fabrics and textures, be sure to add some touchy-feely elements in a room. Some ideas include:

Anyone who has ever lived in a major city has probably had their share of small-bedroom woes. (Why is it that the room expected to hold the largest piece of furniture is often one of the tiniest?) It may seem like your options are confined to squeezing in a bed and—if you’re lucky—a nightstand, but there are ways to pack plenty of style into your limited space. Also, don’t overlook the benefits. “I actually prefer smaller bedrooms to larger ones,” says Portland, Oregon, designer Max Humphrey, whose own bedroom is on the small side. “They’re cozier and you don’t have to waste money furnishing a room with a seating area no one will ever use.” If you’re ready to embrace your small bedroom, check out Humphrey’s tips for making the most of teen girls bedroom selfie Bedroom LayoutBedroom Decor For Teen Girls Dream RoomsBedroom Ideas For Small Rooms For AdultsBedrooms Ideas For Teen GirlsBlue Teen Girl BedroomSimple Girls BedroomTeen Bedroom ColorsRoom Ideas For TeensTeen Bedroom Decorations

Looking for some bedroom ideas to help you layout your room, give it a fresh new look or even to plan a remodel? Below you’ll find some of our favorite bedroom ideas. We’ll show you how to work with awkward room layouts, solve common furnishing issues and how to update your bedroom design.

Repurpose an ordinary bookshelf by turning it into a kid-friendly storage space. Here, colorful bins provide an easy place to organize kid’s stuff. Once your little one knows where everything belongs, she’ll be more likely to clean up after playtime on her own. Reserve the top shelf of the bookcase to display collectibles and picture frames. Tight storage space under the bookshelf can be reserved for oversized coloring books or posters.

When it comes to feng shui bedrooms, a free-flowing layout is crucial. The ideal placement for your bed is as far away from the door as possible, but still in a position that lets you see the entrance; usually, the corner diagonally across from the door is the best spot. Try and avoid having your head under a window due to the ebb and flow of energy going in and out; this causes disturbed and interrupted sleep. Do not position your bed so as to have your feet point out the door while you’re sleeping; this is called the “Death Position” as the deceased are carried out feet first, and sleeping this way is said to drain your life force.

That would depend on what your bedroom looks like right now. We pulled up existing carpet and put in hardwood floors, built the closet with custom closet doors to match the wallpaper, added new window treatments, painted, wallpapered, and added all new furniture and custom bedding in this space.

If you have young daughters sharing a bedroom, give each a say in how that room is decorated, but be prepared to step in as the final word. Some children like to personalize their section of the room; others like to match. Just be sure that each girl has an area to store her favorite possessions, and there is enough desk space for both to do homework at the same time. This adorable space from Finnian’s Moon Interiors uses a peaceful palette of green, blue, and soft gray.

I adore white painted walls and then really experimenting with pattern and colour in the soft furnishings and bedroom accessories. Floral patterns are always a favourite of mine for a feminine look and the brighter the colours the better. The informal group of pretty postcards fixed with washi tape is super cute and I like being able to easily change the display to suit my mood and the season. The look is a little bit granny chic so suits my love of hunting for eclectic items in charity shops. Even on a dull day this bedroom would cheer me up. Image credit

A high pile shag rug completes the snuggly corner, the perfect intimate space for a girl to enjoy some privacy and de-stress.

Choose boxes in the same sizes so they can be stacked on top of each other. Cubby-hole-type shelving units that accommodate boxes are useful, too. Cupboard space is essential as well, for clothes and toys. Plus a bookcase means all of your child’s favourite reads will be close to hand.

“Hanging drapery as close to the ceiling as possible is a design trick that actually works,” Humphrey says. “It’ll bring the eye up. While we’re at it, a good trick for picking curtains is to match the fabric to the wall color. It’s modern and can be nice in a smaller space, because your eye won’t be distracted by contrasting colors.”

Coral, turquoise and cream white…all the favorite colors for teens, and they go with each other so well and turn out to be so beautiful in this bedroom. The turquoise patterned wallpaper gives more fresh look and the window seat…Love all these without a reason! via House of Turquoise.

I love the fact that my bedroom is a comfy nook tucked under a pitched roof. To highlight the cosiness I have painted the pitched roof in a dark anthracite, that is ‘Down Pipe’ from Farrow & Ball. The atmosphere is meant to be calming and soothing. The overall colour scheme is moody with various hues of blue and grey. For that dash of boho style I’ve opted for a few houseplants around my bed and West African vintage indigo throw with a traditional pattern. It’s my favorite place to unwind from long and stressful days. Image credit

I have a thing about exposed brickwork in the home. Along with floorboards it gives a raw feeling. Love it. This lofty bedroom is light and airy and the sporadically placed furniture makes it a little quirky. The white palette gives a sense of tranquillity and the addition of some playful colours makes it homely and inviting too. Image credit

Even a small space can have an airy, open vibe when your palette is mostly white with just one cheery accent color. Notice how easy it is to mix patterns when they share the same two colors; the striped rug, small floral comforter, and larger floral sheets don’t feel busy or overwhelming even though the room is very small.

I have seen lots of pretty string light ideas for the bedroom lately, but most of them do not actually show you have to get to cool DIY lighting effect shown in the photo. This step by step tutorial does, and we love knowing exactly how to get the look shown. Yes, girls, this dreamy canopy can be yours for your bed… You need this look in your bedroom today, start making your dreamy DIY canopy this weekend! If you want something cool and crafty for your own bedroom or are trying to make a teen girl’s bedroom the most awesome one ever, this is the project for you.

An entire room filled with bright color is too much intensity for a tiny space, but when you use a few hot shots of eye-catching color to heat up neutrals or classic black-and-white, the temperature is just right.

Don’t be afraid of the dark! Dark colours have become really cool in interiors and bedrooms are amazing spaces to use them. This dark blue creates a really dramatic space and draws your eye to the crisp white linen and the light of the window. Image credit

Every room needs a focal point, an eye-catching spot that establishes a hierarchy so you don’t see just a jumble. Many times, the focal point is the head of the bed, which you can amplify with an arrangement of bold pillows. When organizing small spaces, your eye might also be attracted to the window. Rather than let these two strong elements compete for attention, place the bed in front of the window to meld cohesively. Or, dress one element—the bed or the window—neutrally, so it recedes and the other can take center stage.

Your bed should always be the focal point of your bedroom, and in small rooms, the best way to make it the focal point is to place it in the center of the room’s most visible wall (usually the wall that faces you when you’re standing in the doorway). This way you will have enough room to access your bed from both sides, and if your room is large enough, you can even place nightstands on either side of the bed.

Even the tiniest bedroom can benefit from an accent wall; after all, it doesn’t take up any space. Whether you choose a glorious metallic wallpaper like the one here or prefer a painted wall, don’t be afraid to go bold if that suits your personality.

Her closet still has the curtains on it like we had for the playroom. We had to modify the shelving in the closet to fit clothes as we had built it for a playroom. We used a Rubbermaid closet system that can be easily modified because it has tracks in the walls. You can see what the closet looked like before in my playroom reorganization post. It has detailed pics for you. It cost just a few dollars to change out her closet to hold her clothes and still hold some toys and some homeschool supplies.

I all honesty, I don’t see how this is supposed to help make the most out of a small room. First of all, they just look like normal bedrooms. And anyay, I guess it’s not what I googled for. The reason I was looking for a post on how to maximize on small room space is because right now my bedroom is also my living room is also my office. I live in NY and I am SURE I am not the only person with this sort of living arrangement. Real estate costs. And quite frankly we are paying for every cubic inch of space in a room here in the city, meaning loft beds and over head storage and really anything and everything to maximize on space and provide order to a multi-purpose room. I don’t need to make my small space LOOK bigger. For what? I need it to feel functionally bigger, since I can’t actually have it bigger.

For a girly look, choose heart bedding and pretty curtains to match. A pink table lamp continues the theme, while furniture in a light-coloured wood is more subtle and won?t overpower the girly furnishings and colour scheme.

To complement your underlying palette, layer complementary colors and patterns on top of that. For example in a grey and white room, try accenting with yellow accessories. For patterns, lean towards stripes, chevron or solids with large geometric shape(s).

Many little girl’s bedroom themes can be loud or trendy rather than timeless. If you’d rather avoid them, look for more subtle ways to incorporate a child’s interests or hobbies. For a ballet enthusiast, dress the room in shades of pink, plenty of ruffles, and a few nods to her passion, such as a display of tutus and a piece of art, rather than a whole ballet-slipper bedding set and suite of accessories.

If you are a kind of girly girl, and you love to have your room dominated in pink, but don’t want it to look childish you can add an adult edge by having your focal wall in darker colors and then provide your room with pink stuff . That will give you the pinkish domination you want in your room, and it will not look childish at the same time, so you get the best of both worlds.

An organized and clutter-free bedroom doesn’t have to consist of clear storage containers and rows of school-style cubbies. We’ve been very (no pun intended) impressed with the quality of furniture at shops like Very.com and Littlewoods of late – don’t dismiss them for good design. This bed (French Kiss) from the latter was reduced to just £184 in the sale. The bed curtains are Yolo Stripe (£14 a metre at John Lewis) while the rug (Lappljung Ruta) is £55 at Ikea.

Wow, interesting article. Maybe, this is of interest, I recently hired Furnishr to design my living room. I know, I could have designed my room by myself, but I actually liked the designs on their site. Pretty great service. They designed, delivered, and setup my new living room furniture and decor in less than a week. Check them out if you’re interested, http://www.furnishr.com/

I love the cool, calm feeling of interior stylist Pella Hedeby’s bedroom, with its abundance of natural light, crisp white linens and beautiful monochrome accents. The cladding on the wall behind the end offers the perfect framed display units for artwork and scented candles, and I always love a low console table at the foot of the bed for displaying coffee table books and keeping rows of footwear organised. In a valley on the Waddesdon Manor estate sits Flint House, an award-winning example of contemporary architecture commissioned by Jacob Rothschild. David Mlinaric, a long-time collaborator of the Rothschilds, helped with the interiors, acquiring the odd new piece of furniture and dipping into the Waddesdon storeroom, known as ‘the Pink Shed’, for others. In the main bedroom a feeling of cosseting warmth has been created in this otherwise white interior by painting two walls a rich teal and adding a large dark carpet in a sumptuous fabric. The sceme is tied together by the dark valance, while a convex mirror by Collier Webb adds sparkle and reflects the landscape.

From the bold purple color palette to the vintage pieces and fashion-inspired fabrics, everything in this room will transition well as a tween girl becomes a full-fledged teenager. To invest wisely with tween room updates, emphasize color and pattern instead of themes. See more of this bold, eclectic teen room >>

Grey curtains complement ebony drawer units in this smart bedroom designed by Anthony Collett. The room is rich with character, including sound-absorbing, fabric-lined walls, which add texture, and an upholstered, padded wall, inspired by a Ben Nicholson painting, acts as a dramatic headboard. John Spencer Joinery made most of the furniture in the bedroom, notably the ebony and sycamore drawer units. It’s a daring space: sophisticated yet welcoming.

I like interiors being minimalist, effortless and welcoming and this bedroom embodies all these things. I love the contrast of the matte black floorboards, the various hues of dark and light grey soft stonewashed linen to curl up in bed on a Sunday morning, the gorgeous atelier windows and the sheet of rusty metal casually lay against the wall and turned into a simple piece of art and a few of our favourite design books. A great combination of simple lines, textures and muted colours. Image credit
