¡a rayas!

Now, isn’t this cosy? The key to a cream scheme: texture, texture, texture. Make a bed in a mix of crisp cotton, soft knits and faux fur. Add some wood elements and top with the perfect pendant light.

A unique chest of drawers with a sketch of a columned building livens up the bedside in this London home designed by Freddy van Zevenbergen. Freddy says the owner ‘wanted it to feel a bit like Loulou’s,’ Robin Birley’s louche-luxe private members’ club in Mayfair, which Lambart & Browne designed in 2012.

Decorating with multiple colours can be an intimidating task for even the most seasoned of designers. No matter how genuine our initial enthusiasm for venturing across to the other side of the paint chart, it is all too easy to get cold feet and talk ourselves out of being more courageous with colour, settling instead for safe, neutral schemes. Colour, however, shouldn’t be used exclusively to make a statement. Gabby Deeming set herself the challenge of creating four palettes from the Mylands paint range. Each palette is made up of four shades that would sit together harmoniously in a space, and work beautifully with textiles and wallpapers. The walls are painted in ‘Piccadilly’ and ‘Palmerston Pink’, £34.66 for 2.5 litres matt emulsion, while the floor is in ‘Honest John’, £21.65 for 1 litre water-based eggshell, all from Mylands.

Light grey walls and a gallery wall above the bed – step inside the elegant bedroom of our location editor. Soft colours carefully combined with playful accessories add character to the space in Lavinia Bolton’s Chelsea flat – an object lesson in unassuming good taste, as well as testament to her own creativity and enterprise.

Though it’s for two little girls, this room has plenty of grown-up sophistication. Crown molding, the fireplace mantel, and carved-wood bed frames are all highly traditional, but they are all finished in soft white rather than a dark stain. To create your own elegant room, stick with a palette of two colors, such as the sage and rose in this room.

I love every ideas you have shared over here. The style and design were so perfect and very inspiring. I am so happy I stumbled on your blog because you inspire me a lot. I can apply ideas I learned on my next  home decorating ideas project. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post.

Faringdon House in Oxfordshire was once home to ‘the mad boy’ Lord Berners, the inspiration for Lord Merlin in Nancy Mitford’s The Pursuit of Love. Now in the hands of his descendant Sofka Zinovieff, the character and eccentricity of the home and its history is lovingly preserved.

A shining example of how to do ‘kids’ room coastal’. Classic by the sea style is still used: the wall panneling, touches of white and wicker baskets, but the addition of turquoise and the unique painted furniture give it a younger, fun feel.

The children’s bedrooms in Keith McNally’s Notting Hill home allow for storage and organisation – as well as charming touches – like this Toadstool lamp, £55 at White Rabbit England. The East Coast tongue-and-groove panelling and plaster walls aren’t restricted to the kids’ spaces, they’re a theme throughout all of the property (see how he achieved the aged look here).

there are really nice bedrooms that you have put on this website but you have to make it look more real for it to happen in a modern day bedroom like my favourite room is the one with the blue comfeter but thanks for putting these on there for me to make it look like my room well i have to go now byye!!

Double the big-kid beds, double the fun! This dreamy toddler room inspiration will make your little ones excited to share a room with their sibling. The key to creating a fun and functional kids’ room for two siblings is to give them each their own space.

This traditional guest bedroom at Wardington Manor in Oxfordshire features a classic four-poster bed and a small sofa with a box-pleated skirt. Character is added to the neutral floor and walls with soft furnishings such as a wall tapestry, rug and fabric bed canopy. The arrangements of cut flowers such as the one featured in this room are displayed throughout the house and sold as part of garden designers The Land Gardeners’ business venture, which uses the manor as HQ.

For interior designer Charlotte Crosland and the owner of this reconfigured central London flat, a shared vision has resulted in generously comfortable rooms accented with splashes of colour. In this spare room, the vibrant decoration includes a yellow Volga blanket and a painted antique chest of drawers from Myriad.

Don’t be afraid of the dark! Dark colours have become really cool in interiors and bedrooms are amazing spaces to use them. This dark blue creates a really dramatic space and draws your eye to the crisp white linen and the light of the window. Image credit

A net of interlocking ribbons attached to blank walls is a great way to display your favorite photos, postcards or other paper memorabilia. Plus, the art can be switched out at any time to suit changing moods, styles or tastes.

The small bedroom of this Georgian flat designed by Ben Pentreath is filled with an antique wood four-poster bed. Simple sisal flooring is a practical and warm choice for the floor. The window is covered with a Svenskt Tenn blind.

Patterns are a recurring theme in Tarquin and Isobel Bilgen’s house; they beautifully match the beams that line the wall in their bedroom. Joss Graham is a good port of call for unusual fabrics; their embroidered horse cover from Uzbekistan (£2,800) dates from about 1900 and would work well as a bedhead. Similarly, an 18th-century French quilt from Katharine Pole (£1,850) is a close match to the Bilgen’s bedcover, made with fabric from Bennison.

So glad you like the ideas! Sadly I couldn’t find the tutorial that went along with that idea, but here is a link to a similar project with instructions: http://17shadesofmade.wordpress.com/2013/11/13/diy1/ hope that helps!

The small white bedroom on the second floor of this Victorian terrace house had been painted a rather gloomy blue. To make the most of the light, newlyweds Sophie and Dan opted to repaint the room with Dulux’s ‘Pure Brilliant White’ while lemon yellow accents bring further warmth to the room. The divan bed is furnished with a buttoned ‘Bekkestua’ headboard from Ikea and the cane mirror hung over the bed was bought on a trip to Saffron Walden.

This bedroom is within a newbuild in California decorated by David Bentheim. A modern iron four poster bed is draped with a linen-covered duvet, wool blanket and monogrammed cushions. The colour scheme is kept calm and bright with white walls and painted panelled ceiling, Crittall-style french doors and window are both covered with soft grey roman blinds. A crystal chandelier adds the slightest touch of glam.

In this glamorous bedroom at Soho House Berlin, furniture is scaled up for the vast rooms. (note the unusually tall headboard.) Designer Susie Atkinson chose bold colours: burgundy and Dorothy Draper-inspired turquoise.

We discovered Room to Bloom’s clever cupboard bed via The List – House & Garden’s new online directory (find out more here). The bed is an ideal solution for an awkward small space – in this case, a long, narrow room interrupted by a staircase. It is built around the stair, and has ample storage for toys and books thanks to under-bed drawers, a bookcase and internal shelving.

Tiny bedrooms don’t need to be boring bedrooms. Stick to a two-tone scheme (in this case, pink and white), streamline with clever storage and make a design feature with essential items, like books. A few well-chosen necessities in bold prints (throws, cushions, etc) will add some personality.

Blogger Rachel Denbow’s kids’ is proof that you don’t need matching beds or bedding in a shared room. An eclectic mix of furniture (particularly when as eye-catching as this large display board) can be equally as stylish.

This scheme was put together by House & Garden’s Ruth Sleightholme. The Modern Scandinavian bedroom is complemented with this walnut bed, ‘Companions’, by Ilse Crawford for De La Espada, 110 x 215 x 200cm, £4,386, at The Conran Shop.

The spare room in this Georgian town house in Ludlow designed by Caroline Harrowby is papered in ‘Alderney’ from Colefax and Fowler. This adds interest to the space, which is light and airy – a fitting style for a small bedroom.

I have always been very fond of vintage style – purely because of the character it brings to the room. What I love most about this room is first of all the white floor – very Scandinavian, the fireplace, the bed and last but not least; the floral bedding and curtains – adding life to the room. I can be here all day long, only thing that’s missing are French doors that open out to a cute balcony! Image credit

A lime green and blue colour scheme and a collection of characters, including a line up of sweet stuffed toys and a friendly whale rug, bring this room to life. This corner provides a perfect play spot with some smart storage boxes for kids to dig in and out of.

When searching flea markets for dressers, keep in mind that nine-drawer and 12-drawer configurations offer enough concealed storage not only for holding clothes, but also for keeping things like books and diaries neatly organized yet out of sight. As tween girls start to yearn for privacy, it’s wise to supply them with storage for things they don’t want out on display.

The owner loves the spare aesthetic of the bamboo. ‘It is not overwhelming, just a very simple and pure design, not trying to impress, nestled in the leaves, just hanging on the cliff.’ The house was designed by Veere Grenney.

This attic bedroom in west London designed by Hackett Holland is proof that you can make any awkward space stylish. It features London street map wallpaper and a sweet reading nook with a porthole window through which to gaze out (pictured out of shot, see it up close here).

This traditional guest bedroom at Wardington Manor in Oxfordshire features a classic four-poster bed and a small sofa with a box-pleated skirt. Character is added to the neutral floor and walls with soft furnishings such as a wall tapestry, rug and fabric bed canopy. The arrangements of cut flowers such as the one featured in this room are displayed throughout the house and sold as part of garden designers The Land Gardeners’ new business venture, which uses the manor as HQ.

Multipurposing will help a tween get much more use out of her room. To create a tween-height gathering area, consider using a coffee table in the center of the bedroom. Once guests come over, the low stature of the coffee table makes it the perfect spot to pull up a pillow and snack while playing games or reading books.

In Steffanie Brown’s 10-year-old daughter’s bedroom, interior decorator Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay has subdivided the walls for a sock-it-to-me impact, introducing a psychedelic cloudscape (‘Clouds Sonic’ by Aimée Wilder) above the picture rail and a restrained print below (‘Tile’ by Cole & Son). ‘She wanted a funky bedroom,’ says Henri. ‘I tried to give her what she was looking for, without doing something that would later drive you bonkers.’

This bedroom may be sparsely furnished but the chosen pieces – a luxe purple velvet headboard, an uber elegant side table and the beautifully printed ottoman, bed spread and cushions – have serious design impact. Then of course there is the stunning statement peacock feather wallpaper. Wow.

for instance i hate how some of the beds are so boring and look so dull and quite frankly UNCOMFORTABLE.. they look like dog beds.. teens want a big fluffy bed thats extremely comfortable !! and looks it to!!!

Love Scandinavian style? The combination of crisp whites and cheery colours lends itself well to a kids’ room. Start with white-washed floors and furnishings, then add bright pops of colour with cushions and bedding. Don’t forget quirky-yet-fun accents, like this hanging bird mobile.

Give children’s rooms a grown up feel with a chic feature wall. In this scheme, a pink flock wallpaper injects instant glamour to the look. It’s teamed with a white day bed, which doubles up as a sofa – ideal for smaller schemes. Pink accents, like the rug and beanbag, mirror the wallpaper, while storage boxes are tucked under the bed, filled with toys and other bits.

Prior to this tween girl’s bedroom redesign, the walls were covered in bright lilac paint, which gave it more of a little girl’s identity. In order to make it cool enough for a tween yet classic enough for parents, the space would be painted a dark shade of violet, the dated wall-to-wall carpet would be replaced with gray-toned vinyl plank flooring and the childish furniture would be swapped out for colorful vintage pieces.

Most of these rooms are okay, but none of them gave me any idea wse on how to redecorate my room. First of all, every single one f these rooms are way bigger then mine. Second of all, who has that kind of money to buy all that expencive looking furnishing?

The Nordic countries know how to nail stylish design that’s also kid friendly. Case in point? This adorable baby mobile from Danish company Ferm Living. It’s perfect when paired with traditionally Scandinavian blonde wood, but equally looks great with any baby room scheme. Scandi-licious!

all these rooms are SUPER cool. Awesome creativity! But next time, it’d be great if maybe you guys could design a room thats, well, more affordable looking/ realistic. I mean, c’mon, we’re teenagers who dont really have THAT much extra cash on hand to use on hand haha. And maybe ‘simpler’ room sizes. The loft one is super cool, but its not like everyone has a loft in their room. . . . awesome ideas though!

From the soft pink walls to the floral bedding to the girl’s bedroom wall decor, this bedroom embodies everything feminine. The simple look of the tufted bed complements the antique bedside table. Cozy floral fabrics and billowy window treatments look airy and soft with the natural light pouring into the room. Create contrast in this all-pink room with girl’s bedroom accessories, such as this ornate blue rug. The color grounds the room while the intricate details connect to the delicate decor.

When it pertains to colors, you might discover that it is best to start with his preferred color. If the shade he has actually selected is too dark for the real wall shade, you can constantly repaint the wall surface a neutral shade and afterwards integrate his favorite shade into patterns, wall surface borders, etc

Every princess needs a fairy on her side, even if it is the tooth fairy. This little pink door, which hides a beautiful sky with clouds, adds a fun, decorative element to the room while also letting some magic in. source.

Give a simple four-poster bed a sweet update with girly curtains and bedding. Pink fabrics keep the scheme girly, while the off-white walls mean that it can be updated as the child grows. Opt for a trundle bed for extra space when friends come to stay, and display their favourite toys proudly in a white-painted shelving unit.

Look for ways to make your small bedroom special. Decorate a bedroom with punchy fabrics and expressive patterns. Choose interesting lighting, such as a charming chandelier or sculptural table lamps. For a small bedroom idea that makes a statement, try an unusual headboard: Pick one that is extra tall, brightly upholstered, or curvy. And use artwork to show off your personality. This is an incredibly unique Princess bed, inspired by the story of Cinderella. The detail on the metallic semi-open pumpkin carriage is gorgeous and it serves as a perfect center piece to this girly baby pink room.

We tried having one fall asleep in our room, then moving them when we went to bed. It went like that for a long time. I finally just decided it was dumb to keep having them sleep in our room and that they needed their own rooms. It was a good choice. My girls are still close and we now have kids cool room designs for teens get sleep and can function during the day. Yay!

Love the photos, really gave me some ideas on decorating my next flat. The bedroom in the new property is quite small but the walls are painted in a cream colour – will be easy to pick the right elements to decorate it. Since I’m a tenant, I’ll have to find non-destructive ways of decorating the place. I will also have to think how I’ll remove and clean the place when my tenancy comes to an end, but this isn’t a problem since London is full of shops and I have plenty of things to choose from.

This light and airy bedroom looks like a wonderful getaway. The symmetry of the space and decor makes for a pleasing view and you can just imagine yourself watching the clouds go by through those sky lights! I love how the dark green tone and botanical cushion prints bring a little of the outside in. In my opinion, adding a feline friend will always make your space seem welcoming! Image credit

Far from stark and uninspiring, stripped back wooden floors and plain white walls are the epitome of classic Scandinavian interior design. A personal favourite of mine, there is nothing more relaxing than natural light, contrasting textures and a hint of colour popping through in features such as the statement mint wood burner found in this Scandinavian haven. Simple changes make this interior’s style easy to achieve – think fur throws thrown over white bedding, painted floors with warmth added through sheepskin rugs, a series of monochrome finishes including framed typography prints and industrial elements such as this oversized light juxtaposed with untouched wood finishes found throughout. As tween girls become full-fledged teenagers, it’s likely they’ll be using their bedrooms for overnight fun with friends. Add drama and ambiance for nighttime use with vintage wall sconces. Often priced much lower than chandeliers, sconces are installed directly to walls and may need to be rewired prior to installation. To ensure safety, most interior designers recommend dropping off vintage sconces at local lamp repair shops where fixtures can be brought up to code for as little as $25.

I’m so glad you could gain an idea or two from my pics! The shelving unit on top of the Trofast is another shelf from IKEA. I don’t remember which system it was from but I bet if you look at an IKEA or on their site you could find it. It was an add on shelf that I thought would work perfectly there from storing some of their larger items. My girls have adjusted to having their own space. They really like it. Though most Friday nights you will find them having a slumber party with their sister. ?

Calling all small space dwellers! Big city apartments, vintage home layouts, and modern space downsizing all call for design that expands the possibilities of small. If you need a bedroom makeover but don’t think you have enough bedroom to work with, you’re in the right place. We’ve got some lovely small bedroom ideas to prove small spaces can be stylish.

Beds can make a bedroom layout feel very linear and square. You can prevent this by placing a comfortable upholstered chair on an angle in the corner. This softens the corner of the room and encourages circulation. Add a small side table, some artwork and an ottoman, if there’s room, to make a cozy and inviting place to relax.

I know people think it’s calming and minimalism is all the rage now, but I don’t think I could sleep in an all-white room, says Humphrey. I generally like cooler colors in a bedroom, though—blues and grays as opposed to warm tones. Black and white always works and can be a good foundation (like in a patterned area rug) to layer in some color. I think everyone would be a little happier if they had some pops of color in their bedrooms.

The architectural style is late Georgian, with generous sash windows, deep eaves and a dash of Italianate villa, thanks to a balcony that sits above the drawing room bay, and a pair of triple-arched windows across the first floor of the south-west façade where terraced lawns drop away to woodland. This bedroom embodies the modest grandeur of English country-house style. The walls are in ‘Linen Stripe’ by Arthouse.

Bold window panels boast a flower pattern that includes lots of bright pink in this girl’s room idea. The custom coverlet’s red embroidery has a refined look that can stay with the room’s pre-kindergarten resident until she reaches college age. A queen-size bed with a custom-designed headboard fills the large area between a closet and dresser on one wall and built-in bookcases and window seats across the room.

Ecclesiastical iconography, oriental fabrics and a collection of hanging lamps, mainly from Turkey, imbue the main bedroom of Tessa Kennedy’s London home with a colourful eclecticism. The curtains formerly belonged to the ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev and the Gothic bed was used as a prop in the 1966 horror film Eye of the Devil.

i’m 13 and really dont like any of them some are really childish because teens want there bedrooms to look older by the way i’m not being rude its just what i think and the rest are just horrid yuck ew

A cosmic chair forms a focal point in this bright and airy girls bedroom in Florida. Glamour, sparkle and romance combine in the accessories, while white walls keep the backdrop crisp and clean. A powder pink accent wall is a super-feminine touch.

Warm gray walls serve as a blank canvas to accommodate bright furniture and accessories in this little girl’s bedroom. A whimsy upholstered kid’s headboard mimics the shape of a house, and a yellow footboard and mirror add bright color. A hopscotch rug ties the room’s colors together while also providing a fun game to play.

I love so much about this baby/toddler room interior. The bunting across the blind really sets a tone for the room and I love the lights hanging off of the ladder, they add a touch of warmth and cosiness to the room – which is exactly how every baby or child’s room should feel. I love that the floors and walls are bright. There’s a blue, white and grey theme which is fantastic because it suits a young baby as well as being grown up enough for a toddler. We’re re-doing our boys’ rooms this year and this image among others is where we’re taking inspiration from. I plan to use a light laminate floor like here and opt for light walls too, contrasting it by using colourful accessories. I think that when it comes to children’s interiors it’s fine to want to go modern, but it’s important to make sure that the room both reflects your child’s personality and is fun and young at the same time. A bedroom always reflects the personality of the occupant. The things that describe your personality the most is the wall colours, the bedroom suit and the decoration. ‘One’s own bedroom’ is the favourite corner of the room during the growing years.

There is no reason at all that a small bedroom – even a really tiny bedroom – can’t be every bit as gorgeous, relaxing, and just plain full of personality as a larger space. (As proof, check out the elegant bedroom from Laura Stein Interiors shown here.) The trick to creating a lovely bedroom when square footage is limited is to make smart use of the space you do have, keep furnishings scaled to the room, and most of all, not be afraid to show off your decorating chops.

In this Paris flat, London-based designer Tara Craig has used a strong, simple palette with devastating effect. The walls of the spare bedroom are painted in ‘Papaver’ by Adam Bray for Papers and Paints, with an imposing ‘Carlyle’ headboard from Ensemblier London upholstered in ‘Serpetti’ linen by Martyn Lawrence Bullard.

In this bedroom in Morocco, a large Twenties French poster hung above the low-level bed acts as an extension of the headboard. For similar vintage posters of this size, head to Rennies Seaside Modern in Kent, or visit its online shop.

Bring a little nature into your room with silk plants, animal statuettes and baskets. Faux succulents require no care but add garden beauty to shelves and windowsills. Glass tabletop terrariums do well in a partially shaded area, like on a desk in front of a window or on a graduated set of shelves against a bedroom wall. Accent the look with country-inspired wall-hangings like longhorns and guitar case shelves. Finalize the theme with a few brightly colored fabric tapestries for a country-inspired bedroom that’s every bit as fresh as the outdoors. Hanging a few of your favorite art pieces is also an excellent way to decorate.

‘For the decoration, I kept the materials simple. Most important was the reclaimed timber floor, which sets the tone for the whole flat,’ designer Harriet Anstruther says. Her colour palette is similarly pared back, but with a few well-placed hits of bold colour – including this electric blue armchair in the bedroom.

A pink floral bedroom makes an elegant scheme in this neoclassical pavilion Bradwell Lodge. It is aptly named the ‘Pink Room’. A bold Bernard Thorp ‘Brimble’ fabric has been used on the walls, bed and blind, adding character and playfulness. The curtain over the bed adds height, and gives the room a cosy den-like feel. Designed as a guest room, we think the ideas could easily be transferred to a child’s bedroom.

The colour coral is back in vogue. According to Josephine Bennett, head of design at Laura Ashley, warm tones of sable with touches of coral give a subtle and slightly less feminine feel to this colour scheme. We like.

These are some some incredibly creative ideas! I love how these designs make the most of small spaces. Another option is to purchase furniture with multiple purposes. A great choice is a Zoom-Room or Zoom-Desk. Zoom-Room is a 21st century version of the Murphy Bed. It’s a remote controlled retractable Wall Bed that snakes up behind the cabinet instead of folding down, so you can put your flat screen TV or bookshelves in front. The Zoom-Room is customizeable with custom cabinets, home office accessories, finishes, and materials. It combines both function and great design.

This girl’s room has a youthful palette wherein the different strokes of her dreams and aspirations would design her future. The room has a wonderful ceiling and the green walls give a fresh feel to the ambience. The night stand alongside the bed has got multipurpose usage. The pillows and rug look very smart.

Measuring just 90 square metres, this home to a family of five in Chelsea, London, makes use of every inch of space. Designed by Eve Mercier, the small kids’ bedroom features two broad, wall-mounted benches (underneath the loft bed) that are easily transformed into beds (bed-linen is concealed below), while a third, drawer bed slides out when needed. We wanted a versatile space that could easily be converted into a study if necessary, explains Eve. A circular, frosted window overlooks the bathroom.

Create a sweet work station for reading or drawing with a small desk and chair and floor lamp. Upcycle a standard white MDF desk with some paint and wallstickers, or take the easier option and choose this one from online children’s store Vertbaudet.

The best thing about having a small or strangely shaped room is the opportunity it presents to use your space imaginatively. The alcove behind the door, in the home of designer Patrick Williams of Berdoulat design, has been turned in to a charming sleeping nook. Enclosed behind the curtain are shelves, and a lamp for reading. The room is painted in Farrow and Ball’s ‘Lamp Room Gray’; while the random-width floorboards were bought on eBay. Reclaimed drawers are used under the bed as storage.

The main bedroom in this Belgravia house is decorated with a sophisticated mix of geometric patterns, brass finishes and decorative bits and bobs. The focus is on the details in this room, including a geometric cushion by Jan Showers and a Ralph Lauren bedside lamp.

I would describe this bedroom as ‘cosy contemporary’ and it’s the sort of space I could relax in at the end of a busy day.  It is fairly minimalist, but not as stark as a white or grey bedroom, with an on trend geo pattern and a soft colour palette, with some warmth from the brass lamp and wooden side table.  I also love the white painted floor boards and think it is a look that could be quite easy to re-create. Image credit

A warm chocolate-brown focal wall adds an adult edge in this girl’s bedroom. To make the rich hue more playful and fitting for a young girl, HGTV fan wenbenoit integrated hot pink into the design scheme with sheer window treatments, storage ottomans and a stylish floral lamp. She kept the linens ultra-neutral to offset the bold color combination.

Even a small space can have an airy, open vibe when your palette is mostly white with just one cheery accent color. Notice how easy it is to mix patterns when they share the same two colors; the striped rug, small floral comforter, and larger floral sheets don’t feel busy or overwhelming even though the room is very small.

It is no surprise that children spend a lot of time in their bedroom. Used for sleeping, playing and working, it follows that their space should be a reflection of their little personalities. There are so many ways to make a bedroom special and unique, from a vintage mirror so she can play dress up to generous storage to hide away her toys and clothes. We take a look through 40 inspirational ideas to help create the perfect girl’s bedroom.

The Pink Room in Bradwell Lodge is fun, feminine and fancy. A bold Bernard Thorp fabric, ‘Brimble’, has been used on the walls and bed, and for the blind: this creates a lovely sense of continuity in the space.

Decorating a little girl’s room has never been more fun! With patterned bedspreads and brightly colored walls, here are our tips for creating the perfect room fit for the little princess in your home.

Here in the main bedroom, previously the banqueting hall, the crest of the Peruzzi family, bankers to Henry III and subsequently to Henry VIII, cover the walls. The Torre pre-dates Chaucer, Brunelleschi’s Duomo and Michelangelo’s David.

Your children are only young once so create a magical environment with furnishings and accessories that will kick start their imaginations. Curtained cubby hole bunkbeds are also a perfect way to give kids their own space.

Detailing and subtlety of colour are trademarks of designer John Minshaw’s interiors, and the barn conversion he shares with wife Susie illustrates this perfectly. The bedroom pairs William Yeoward bedlinen with a blue headboard and black furniture.

Try this little girl’s room idea for a shared bedroom or a bedroom with space for sleepovers. A curved design prevents the white built-in bunks from feeling bulky, while a smattering of carpet tiles add bright, fun color and soften the room’s flooring. Using carpet tiles is a smart move with girls that love to do arts and crafts; if there is a permanent stain on one tile, simply replace it.

Most of the time, a small bedroom means an equally small closet. A great solution to this common concern is incorporating built-in storage around the head of the bed, as in this serene space designed by Chris Ebert of Normandy Remodeling. If built-ins aren’t an option, look for bookcases that fit in the space instead.

Sisters sharing a room can be a recipe for squabbling. To keep the peace, go in with a game plan. If the girls are old enough to help with decor decisions, ask for their input. That way they’ll feel like they have a vested interest in the room. Also, designate an area for each girl’s stuff so both will feel like they have their own space. Another tip: Plan for the future. When baby outgrows the crib, be prepared to shift around furniture or consider adding a bunk bed or a trundle bed.

This has to be one of my favorite  DIY bedroom decorating ideas for teens because it is so much fun to make, and always turns out beautiful. This creative statement for your room is hard to mess up. Follow the step by step video tutorial to learn how to make Sharpie watercolor pillows.

I adore these room ideas for young girls. Some are for a little younger girl but my favorite has to be the one with the Audrey Hepburn picture on the wall. Its trendy, flirty, and girly. These ideas are so different I could see many personalities being able to shine through with them.

To maximize the floor space, tuck your bed up against a wall or corner. The effect will create a sleep area that feels cozier. If it feels too much like a college dorm? Add a two headboard corner system to create a finished, designer look to a bedroom.

This open-plan bedroom designed by Suzy Hoodless and architect Johnny Holland of Hackett Holland, is the stuff of dreams. Wide-plank oak floorboards and geometric tiles create a division between the bedroom and a bathroom area with a free-standing ‘Vieques’ bath from Agape. Brass strips edge the fabric-fronted wardrobe wall. Graphic curtains made with fabric from Madeline Weinrib add colour to the white walls by the bed. See the rest of the house here.

The owners of this Somerset country house had not anticipated taking on such a large project, but their careful renovation enhanced by modern decorative touches has resulted in a smart and comfortable forever home. This white bedroom has a sunny feel thanks to a bright yellow patterned throw and matching cushions. A storage chest with a cute duck design sits at the foot of the bed – perfect for adding character to a bedroom or for a kid’s room.

Art is often overlooked in children’s and tween’s rooms; however, it can completely change the space and serve as a source of inspiration for the rest of the decor. This room was designed for a tween who was named after legendary bluegrass singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams. Commissioning an artist to draw an original portrait of the singer and having it professionally framed not only added a feeling of individuality to the room, it served as the inspiration for the room’s violet, black, white and gold palette.

How to do stylish modern living in the country? Located on a plot of farmland on the Atlantic coast of Long Island, interior designer Veere Grenney used wood as a dominant note. The local architecture was also a big influence, as displayed in the boarded walls.

Soft colors and classic style will keep this girl’s room timeless for years to come. Neutral walls and furniture create a sense of unity and allow patterned bedding and window treatments to be the center of attention. A pattern that isn’t too age-specific allows for her creativity to shine in wall art and painting hung around the room. Lighting treatments are similar with neutral bases and lampshades that can easily be switched out at a low cost.

One of the most popular color schemes for a preteen girl’s bedroom is pink, white, and black. Take one look at the room shown here and you’ll see why: it’s the perfect blend of sophistication, innocence, and quirkiness. Stick with black and white on the flooring and the furniture, and you can easily change the theme if your daughter eventually decides she’s too old for pink.

This bedroom in a Notting Hill townhouse is dominated by Michael Szell’s cheerful ‘Carnival’ fabric and wallpaper designed for Christopher Farr Cloth. The wall behind the bed has been entirely wallpapered, giving the effect of an extended headboard.

When it comes to storage (especially in a small space) the more the merrier. Choose beds and nightstands that can all do double duty. Top it all off with a witty, decorative touch – in this case, a print out of a favourite poem affixed to the wall with washi tape and framed.

Creating a cosy play area in the corner of the room is easy. All that’s needed is a heavy pile rug and plenty of cushions – we love the mix of neutrals and brights here. The modular shelving and lighting further delineate the area from the rest of the room.

Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay, the owner of this Victorian country house in Shropshire, has enhanced the interiors of this grand property with her signature mid-century aesthetic without compromising original features.

Does your child have a favourite book or television character that you’re considering including in a design scheme? Bedding is the clever option as it doesn’t involve too much commitment (and we all now how fickle kids can be). We love the creative use of paint on the walls which works with the theme now but could also be adapted later.

Well, my sister and I have been sharing bedrooms at two different homes for almost eleven years now, and my mom and stepdad are getting ready to build onto our house, which will give me my own room, of course my sister will bw gwtting a room with a door, a small closet, and one window, while I will be left with our ‘master bedroom’ so I’ll have the bathroom, a wlk in closet, and a two windows, i really want a new, cool design with pretty colors, i’de prefer no pink and purple, and a queen sized bed, though these are all wonderful ideas, my friends don’t have rooms this big, and my ceilings arent that high…do you have any ideas that might fit my room??

The dream bedroom for teens, black comforter with large pink flowers on it and gold stars on the wall. Where did that comforter and sham set come from?? M daughter loves it and I cannot seem to find anything similar. Beautiful room!

Proof that one can still create a functional, stylish bedroom in a small area. A bunk bed with a built-in desk frees up space for a sofa, and built-in storage, hidden hanging rails and wall pegs ensure the room is kept clutter-free.

we just moved in to our new house and I was looking for a gorgeous design for a gilrly room specially I want my friends to come over. Then I saw these cute styles and I was wondering if you could suggest me what coul be better. My room is kinda small, maybe a size of a small veranda and I have my little window above. Our house is maroon so what would be the perfect color combination and design to this kind of room. Thank you and I’m hoping for your suggestions ?

We recently updated my 8 year old’s bedroom and Pinterest was a great source of inspiration for me. She has a small room and I wanted make the most of the space and decorate it in a way that would see her through her pre-teen years. I’m a huge fan of white walls and light spaces that can be brought to life with a splash of colour and styled with a bit of black too – you can’t go wrong with monochrome! This picture inspired me when I was putting her room together. I love that there is a place of everything but it still looks stylish AND lived in. The monochrome styling mixed with the pops of colour and a few kitsch accessories all work so well together. Image Credit

To vary solid-color walls, try this easy, do-it-yourself project. Mark out different sizes of squares on the wall with painter’s tape. Then fill in the shapes with three to four different colors. Here, bold raspberry, tangy orange, and sweet pink squares spruce up a peach background.

Girls bedroom ideas, like these, reflect to a mother’s imagination. This is a traditional bedroom, done up predominantly in pink colour, generally associated with girls. The hearts on the wall paper and the curtains leave my heart fluttering. Again the pillow cover and the window treatment have been streamlined and is looking beautiful.

A cozy, pillow-lined window seat is the perfect spot for a teen girl to write, read or imagine. This sweet seat is flanked by pretty white and gold sconces for easy-access reading light and a small side table to hold drinks and snacks. It also doubles as chic built-in storage!

This children’s bedroom is in an airy attic space. The gable wall has been papered in Sandberg’s delicate ‘Mika’ wallpaper, highlighting the architectural shape of the apex. The wooden floorboards have been painted in a practical, wipe-clean gloss paint. A calico teepee is a fun den – for something similar try Hobbycraft.

KISIERA IDEAS.

Gracias
