Sharing a room as a teenager can be tough, but it doesn’t have to be ugly! In this pretty space, designer Kristina Crestin dressed two full-sized beds in matching white ruffled bedding and plush fur throws, hanging each girl’s monogram above her bed for personalization. A shared midcentury modern dresser doubles as a nightstand and is a cool contrast to feminine pink ruffled curtains.

From photo frames to cuddly toys, wall art to lanterns, you’re sure to find the perfect finishing touch for her space from amongst our selection of girl’s bedroom decorations. In the process of designing your girl’s bedroom? Be sure not to miss two Maisons Du Monde essentials: girl’s bed linen and girl’s bedroom storage.

If you’ve got the square footage for it, aiding productivity can be as easy as including a dedicated workspace in the bedroom. This stylish set of bright whites with pops of pink and blue produces an air of driven focus, while still keeping a cheery, light-hearted vibe. Homework, studying, and research projects beware the powerhouse of teenage initiative that will settle in to pound out assignments at record speed in this gorgeous space. Bookshelves allow for storage of all the learning essentials, and a second, smaller pull-out desk makes it easy to swap between tasks. A comfy chair with fluffy pillows allows for brief respites in between hardcore study sessions.

well, not bad the rooms are quite good i’m13 &i think its nice but seriously get more purchasable rms cause lke my rms are big but not as big as that gush and some of those rms look lke A BOY’S ROOM WHICH I’M NOT SURE THEY WILL LIKE(no offence) by the way HAPPY NEW YEAR guys!!! which is tomorrow or next funny right ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Emphasize a soaring ceiling with a showstopping theme. In this playful room, alternating stripes of sky and baby blues creates a tentlike ceiling treatment. A fun theme like this makes room for cool beds for girls. A classic four-poster bed has long-lasting style, while freestanding furniture—such as the desk, chair, and bookshelf—can be replaced or upcycled as she grows older.

I love how Martyn Lawrence Bullard combines vibrant colours with serenity and calm in this bedroom; a perfect setting for colour lovers, who want to wind down in a relaxed setting after a hard day’s work. The different textures, such as the fur throw and carpet provide a great contrast to the mirrored bedside tables, which makes the room dynamic and interesting. I also love the ethnic element (Ikat cushions) combined with the ‘Modern Glamour’ style, which gives the room a new dimension. And how great is the coffee table at the end of the bed? I don’t like bedside tables, that are full of books and magazines, so this provides a great stage option that prevents cluttering the room and at the same time looks great! Image credit

There is no reason at all that a small bedroom – even a really tiny bedroom – can’t be every bit as gorgeous, relaxing, and just plain full of personality as a much larger space. (As proof, check out the elegant bedroom from Laura Stein Interiors shown here.) The trick to creating a lovely bedroom when square footage is limited is to make smart use of the space you do have, keep furnishings scaled to the room, and most of all, not be afraid to show off your decorating chops.

“Hanging drapery as close to the ceiling as possible is a design trick that actually works,” Humphrey says. “It’ll bring the eye up. While we’re at it, a good trick for picking curtains is to match the fabric to the wall color. It’s modern and can be nice in a smaller space, because your eye won’t be distracted by contrasting colors.”

You can paint the ceiling in any bedroom, of course, but it’s an especially fun touch for a child’s bedroom. This girl’s room, found on JWS Interiors, is a pretty space filled with great touches like the chandelier, hanging chair, and shaggy rug, but it’s the circus-tent stripes on the ceiling that really kick up the whimsy.

Art is often overlooked in children’s and tween’s rooms; however, it can completely change the space and serve as a source of inspiration for the rest of the decor. This room was designed for a tween who was named after legendary bluegrass singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams. Commissioning an artist to draw an original portrait of the singer and having it professionally framed not only added a feeling of individuality to the room, it served as the inspiration for the room’s violet, black, white and gold palette.

Every princess needs her castle, and this pastel rainbow creation is a perfect example of how to properly install one in the bedroom. There is everything here – towers with cones at the top, sentry stations, and even a balcony, all of which help bring the fantasy to life. source.

Let’s face it, teenagers and orderly rooms are a rare combination. Messy rooms seem to be a teenager’s rite of passage. Good storage options will be the best feature they didn’t think they needed but will appreciate.

Designer and HGTV Star Tiffany Brooks mixed bright floral prints with a plaid headboard and fuchsia accessories to achieve a fun yet sophisticated look in this stylish space. A large potted Fiddle Leaf Fig tree adds organic warmth and interest to the cozy bedside seating area.

Next from the number of DIY projects in this tutorial are wall décor ideas. First is a DIY paper flower garland which is so easy to make and gives a lot of color and texture to your wall. The second idea is an abstract painting with a word. I went for the word live for my wall art to remind me that we need to live every moment as if it was our last.

We recently updated my 8 year old’s bedroom and Pinterest was a great source of inspiration for me. She has a small room and I wanted to make the most of the space and decorate it in a way that would see her through her pre-teen years. I’m a huge fan of white walls and light spaces that can be brought to life with a splash of colour and styled with a bit of black too – you can’t go wrong with monochrome! This picture inspired me when I was putting her room together. I love that there is a place of everything but it still looks stylish AND lived in. The monochrome styling mixed with the pops of colour and a few kitsch accessories all work so well together. Image Credit

Heart Photo Wall: Photos always make great decor for the teen girls. How about this heart photo wall? I believe it will be every girl’s wish list. Easy and fun to make just with a bit of time and creativity!

Beds can make a bedroom layout feel very linear and square. You can prevent this by placing a comfortable upholstered chair on an angle in the corner. This softens the corner of the room and encourages circulation. Add a small side table, some artwork and an ottoman, if there’s room, http://sports.frontalreport.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ make a cozy and inviting place to relax.

From the bold purple color palette to the vintage pieces and fashion-inspired fabrics, everything in this room will transition well as a tween girl becomes a full-fledged teenager. To invest wisely with tween room updates, emphasize color and pattern instead of themes. See more of this bold, eclectic teen room >>

Get a girly bedroom look, without going overboard on the pink palette that, if used in excess, can make a space look childish. Here a soft cherry-blossom pink is tempered by a neutral geometric wallpaper that stops half way up the wall, loose florals on white backdrops and soft fabric elements – such as the upholstered bed and cushions – in saturated colours.

My personal choice of colour palette frequently ebbs towards darker, richer tones during the winter months, because these tend to evoke warmth and comfort. This dark and alluring charcoal-coloured bedroom in a loft apartment creates instant drama and is instantly warmed by the blonde tones of the striking herringbone floor. Finished off with an exciting array of textiles, including a ‘must-have’ upholstered headboard, this bed is sheer indulgence. I also love the carefully curated collection of objects featured on the distressed shelving, and not forgetting the luxe-look side table. Perfection! Image credit

Decorating a small bedroom can get extra tricky with odd nooks and corners. Use light, crisp colors to combat unique features like lower ceilings. Bright whites look luxe in any sized room, and even turn this slanted-ceiling kids’ room into a spacious play zone.

I love so much about this baby/toddler room interior. The bunting across the blind really sets a tone for the room and I love the lights hanging off of the ladder, they add a touch of warmth and cosiness to the room – which is exactly how every baby or child’s room should feel. I love that the floors and walls are bright. There’s a blue, white and grey theme which is fantastic because it suits a young baby as well as being grown up enough for a toddler. We’re re-doing our boys’ rooms this year and this image among others is where we’re taking inspiration from. I plan to use a light laminate floor like here and opt for light walls too, contrasting it by using colourful accessories. I think that when it comes to children’s interiors it’s fine to want to go modern, but it’s important to make sure that the room both reflects your child’s personality and is fun and young at the same time. This is a photo of my 8 year old son’s room, styled and photographed by myself. It’s a modern Breton themed bedroom.  I styled this bedroom in the autumn to bring a fresh, bright and happy feel to the room. I made sure that a cosy feel is maintained, with the soft throw on the bed for bedtime tucking in and the cushion for casual lounging. Everything is positioned conveniently, such as the comforting bedside light, an accessible bedside table for his drink and storage below his table for toys. Next to his bed is a laundry bag which encourages tidiness. To the right of his bed is a large shelf of favourite books, recently converted to his workspace. To the left of his bed is an empty area for running around with friends. Image courtesy of Gerladine Tan.

Blending several personalities and decorating styles in a shared bedroom can be tricky. Keep the space looking cohesive by choosing one bedding style for every bed. In this room, compromise was key in the planning stages—especially when it came down to girls’ bedroom colors. One girl who loves bright, bold colors got her way with a stand-out painted ceiling, while her sister scored with neutral walls and a patterned rug. Shared girl’s room decor can make everyone happy with a little compromise.

If you’re in the market for a new bed, consider a bed with drawers underneath for extra storage. If space is so limited that drawers may not open easily, use decorative bins under your bed for additional storage. We love milk crates and other woven baskets that hold up well and look great doing it.

When it was time for our toddler to upgrade to his “Big Boy Bedroom” I knew I wanted to design something which would be able to grow with him over the years. The basis of the room is classic stars and stripes, which means we can mix up the accessories as his tastes change. Taking inspiration from our travels around America and their comic book stores we used bright red as an accent colour against greys and whites. Comic covers from our special dates; birthdays, anniversaries etc. hang on the walls next to handmade comic book bunting, framed posters and Superhero silhouettes, with lighting and canopies creating a cosy feel. Super storage solutions hide all manner of clutter and provide a great display area for favourite toys and books.

Making the most of the vertical space in a small bedroom is an excellent way to keep things neat and organized. Floating shelves will hold a multitude of books and magazines. Small buckets and baskets, hanging on mountable rods, will provide extra space for little, miscellaneous items. Photo courtesy of Camila Pavone.

This is my masterpiece for Snowflake. I made this desk and shelving unit for her. I will have posts on how I made them for you next week, I think. She loves it and it provides a great place for her to complete her school work.

For the teenage photog, displaying favorite snaps is a source of pride that gives a space a singular uniqueness that can’t be imitated. This sweet design can be incorporated into many teen girl room ideas and serve as a centerpiece of a space. Starting with a small heart and slowly building it up is a fun and meaningful project to share with friends and family, giving the artwork that much more sentimentality. When completed, make it even more of a focal point by “framing” it with icicle lights, realizing a tangible personification of the warm glow the photos’ subjects evoke.

Snowflake wants a pink, white and blue theme with snowflakes in her room. She wants me to design something neat for over her desk. I think she needs new more mature bedding as well. New curtains will likely go along with the completion of her room.

Try a dark wall color for bold bedroom update. Dark walls create an intimate and inviting feeling in a room. They are great for living rooms, libraries, dining rooms and bedrooms. When you use a dark color on the walls, keep the floor and ceiling finishes lighter. The deep berry wall color in this bedroom highlights the bed, making it the focus of the room. Add some throw pillows in a similar color to complete the look.

i agree with lily and not any with lizzy cuz if your room is small than make it so that things can fit in your decor for girls room but most importantly make it so its your style and that you will injoy going in your room every day. plus if you hated your room the way you desinged you would have to spend more cash witch you would not want. i mean these are really good desings that is on the website, and people will love these desings too but others wont but for me i LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE these desings. dont give up cuz of people who dont like these ideas, keep doing what you love cuz people like me love your ideas and other people do to and it would break there heart to know that you quit!!!!:) welp hope to see more of your designs! later! <3 From Who-ville™ to your bedroom, spread happy holiday cheer! DETAILS ... Bring a little organisation to that growing shoe and accessories collection, before it migrates out of the wardrobe, and store them all on a colourful ladder shelving unit (you might need to paint a plain wooden frame). Modern and practical – this one’s a no-brainer. In our family it’ll be an easy decision. When we eventually buy a house, the largest bedroom will go to all 5 girls (even if it’s the master), Tim and I will get the medium sized room, and our one son will have the smallest room. 🙂 Of course it could get more confusing if we end up with more than 3 bedrooms, but I think we’d still stick with this plan and make the fourth (smallest) room a office or school storage room. I love this luxurious bedroom designed for a colour blind client. The careful mix of pattern and texture maximises the visual impact he gets from it, without being overwhelming for anyone else. It’s a large, bright space that could take a lot of colour without looking busy, and can easily absorb big pieces (the bed is actually a super king). The walk-in wardrobe has a to-die-for amount of storage in addition to the 3 massive wardrobes alongside the bed, which allows for everything to be put away and hidden, so that you can  enjoy the bright colours and still have a tranquil space to escape to. Deep jewel tones, such as the turquoise Porta Romana Thread lamps,  and matt metallics allow the scheme to be both rich and restful. The style is very much that of a small boutique hotel – creative and encouraging. It’s not a room you go to to unwind and declutter your mind – it’s an exciting destination in itself. Every texture is interesting,  inviting and playful. The Stark carpet is wonderfully soft under food, and the silk bed throw from Soak and Sleep has a luxurious and subtle sheen to it. Image credit • The proven fact that women and girls generally adore multi colors ideas in decorating their bedrooms, they like to use brilliant colours and lot of ornaments, as these colors give youthful sensation and female aspect in the girls’ bedrooms decorating ideas. Thanks, Allyson. They do tend to migrate to the larger room to play. Also because my older daughter is more neat. She would prefer the ‘mess’ of the play be in her sisters room. At first she thought that also meant her sister would have to clean everything up. We had to work on that issue. I remember some friends growing up had done the same thing. The girls had the master bedroom. I always thought that was a combination of fantastic and totally strange! Maybe you guys could find a two story home with a master on each floor. Then you still get a master and so will the girls! A sleigh bed, for example, is a preferred conventional style of bed that can be conveniently combined with deluxe bed linens to produce a conventional, classic look in your bedroom. Of course, if you desire an extra modern look you could take into consideration the very same sleigh bed including modern lines and integrated with solid shades, stripes or geometric patterns. Every room needs a splash of pattern. In this trendy pre-teen room, an accent of cheerful lavender wallpaper pops perfectly against crisp white furniture and built-ins. The pattern is repeated in the window coverings in the room. Colorful pillows and bedding pull in more colors from the girl's bedroom wallpaper and tie the color scheme together. Finally, the area rug packs the last punch in this busy, but cohesive room. With wallpaper and patterns as fun as this, there's no need for girl's bedroom wall decor.  An elegant iron daybed provides a spot for reading in the day as well as a place to sleep at night. The colourful, characterful textiles and soft toys hung from the bed and walls keep it young and fun. imágenes prediseñadas de dormitorio para niñas ideas de la pintura del dormitorio de las niñas

I love it because of the contemporary nod, yet colourful edge. It oozes character and personality and you know these home owners don’t shy away from expressing themselves through their decor; I love that kind of confidence and willingness to experiment. It inspires me to be bolder in my interior design choices! Image credit

As you may know, I don’t have a daughter. I’m expecting my fourth little boy and I could not be more excited. The only downside to that is I would LOVE to decorate a girl’s room! I have a pretty girly craft room but for now I’ll live vicariously through these amazing ladies’ design skills! I am obsessed with each and every one of these adorable girls room ideas. I hope you find some inspiration if you’re looking to redecorate your girl’s room or if your little one is ready for her first “Big girl” room! Oh my gosh, so fun!

Ideally, a bedroom should be a clean, minimal space for you to unwind in, but I also love how creativity has crept into this Scandi interior. Full of personality, this scrapbook/shelving arrangement complements the DIY aesthetic of the room and accompanies the hanging bulb light fixture perfectly. Framed pictures are non-existent but instead, a quick fix of inspirational imagery taped to the wall is the ultimate effortless decorative feature. I like how black accents can be detected from the tape, light and bedside table; bringing all of the decorations together, but still harnessing that spontaneous element. Image credit

Incorporate elements that show your children their growing family. Photos of the kids together, framed handprints of when they each were newborns encourage them to appreciate their younger or older sibling while adding a warm family atmosphere to their bedroom.

I have chosen this image because, as a Mum of 3-year-old boy and girl twins, this is such a great example of how to style a shared bedroom. Not only do the colours complement each other so well, but the room looks matched, even though it is for both sexes. The shelving is perfect for storing toys and books, and they can accessorize it with their own items. I am drawn to the simplicity of the design, and contemporary style especially as we now live in a modern new build home. My tips for styling a twins’ shared room is to keep it simple, use colour schemes that complement each other and involve the children in the process – as they usually like to have a say in what they prefer! A clean white or neutral base is ideal for teenage bedrooms, as it offers the opportunity to chop and change the look as quickly as teenage tastes and styles do! Opt for classic white furniture with a slender profile, as this will help reduce the sense of clutter. However, this sunny, pretty space is really all about the accessories; a bold bloom bedspread, hot pink accents, soft pastel lamps and prints and a tactile sheepskin throw on the chair ensure this space is modern and still playful.

• In your girl’s bedroom , you have to choose your girls favorite bedroom decorating ideas and themes , some girls like evening themes as the moon , so you need to use (blues, whites and yellows) , other like day themes as the sun, and others may prefer a seashore theme, so you need to use the sea shore elements as (a sandy brown carpet for the floor, a blue colored bed sheet for the bed and white pillows).if your girl like the summer time season, so you need to have some yellow shade to the overall theme , and then decorating with seashore parts comparable to starfish, angel fish and clown fish, these themes will revive your girl’s bedroom decorating ideas.

The bedroom is a place when you should be able to relax, rest and sleep well. The space therefore should be simple, clean and uncluttered. Ban all the unnecessary items and focus on the essentials – comfy pillows, soft bedding, good light for reading, and small bedside table to keep your books and water carafe. Create a space where you can rest your eyes and calm your mind, and it means white walls and no busy patterns. I am drawn to this bedroom because of the colour palette – all in soft brown tones. There is a feeling of calm and the crumpled linen looks very inviting. The only decoration it needs is a single artwork on the wall. The beauty here is in simplicity. Image credit

This beautifully detailed light pink rose lamp was not bought at any high-end decoration shop but rather a DIY project made from a simple white lamp and several big fabric roses. The result is simply elegant and feminine. source.

I love this bedroom – it was one of the first I designed and the brief was to create an elegant and serene sanctuary. The soft Cornforth White walls combined with the decadent wallpaper by Tapet Café really do complement one another and create a very soothing mood. The Vogue print adds the perfect ‘pop’ of colour and the large mirror reflects a lot of light into the space. The chandelier by Verner Panton completes the look and adds decadence. Image credit

I love this bedroom for a number of reasons: it just looks so calm, relaxing and welcoming. It belongs to Netherlands-based interior stylist and journalist Holly Marder, who has a fab blog called Avenue Lifestyle. When you see the before images you will realise just how successful this bedroom makeover has been. Before it was dark and decorated in a garish purple and orange, but Holly has transformed it into a calm retreat by painting the floorboards and walls white. I like how the design is asymmetrical, there’s two different bedside tables, two different lamps, and a cluster of framed pictures on just one side, but it still really works, you don’t have to be too rigid and use the same thing on each side, especially when there are two different people in the bed, with two different personalities! Image credit

All-out glamour, drama and expensive tastes: if that sounds like you (even if your budget is actually small), then you’ll drool over this tiny, perfect, luxe bedroom from RSVP Design Services. What makes it work? The limited color scheme, the reflections from the mirrors and metallics, and the lack of clutter. Perfect.

Your bed should always be the focal point of your bedroom, and in small rooms, the best way to make it the focal point is to place it in the center of the room’s most visible wall (usually the wall that faces you when you’re standing in the doorway). This way you will have enough room to access your bed from both sides, and if your room is large enough, you can even place nightstands on either side of the bed.

Lighting offers an opportunity to add personality while also introducing different styles and design eras. When it comes to tween girl’s rooms, vintage light fixtures are almost always a sure-fire hit. As retro styles become increasingly popular for tween and teen girls, it’s smart to consider searching local flea markets and thrift stores for fixtures from the 1960s and 1970s. This brass and smoked Lucite chandelier is from the mid-1970s and is considered a modern classic. Should the tween girl grow tired of it, the fixture can be used in another area of the house or, since vintage pieces hold their value, it can be sold online through a vintage consignment mega-site.

An elegant iron daybed provides a spot for reading in the day as well as a place to sleep at night. The colourful, characterful textiles and soft toys hung from the bed and walls keep it young and fun.

For houses tight on space but not on property, yurts (heavy-duty circular tents) can provide extra sleeping quarters for guests. Furnish with high-quality indoor furniture to make the small room feel like an extension of the house.

No princess will simply have her toys in a regular bin, so you need to make it http://sportsolid.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ A pink bird’s nest is a cute and cool functional and decorative idea that is not too difficult to bring to life. source.

Another decorating idea of incorporating low maintenance plants into your room is a bamboo stick in a vase full of colored stones. Simply hold the bamboo in a vase and pour in layers of colored stones. I love this room decorating idea as it is so easy and brings so much life to any big or small room.

I all honesty, I don’t see how this is supposed to help make the most out of a small room. First of all, they just look like normal bedrooms. And anyay, I guess it’s not what I googled for. The reason I was looking for a post on how to maximize on small room space is because right now my bedroom is also my living room is also my office. I live in NY and I am SURE I am not the only person with this sort of living arrangement. Real estate costs. And quite frankly we are paying for every cubic inch of space in a room here in the city, meaning loft beds and over head storage and really anything and everything to maximize on space and provide order to a multi-purpose room. I don’t need to make my small space LOOK bigger. For what? I need it to feel functionally bigger, since I can’t actually have it bigger.

This lovely – but tiny – home was once a library. Now it’s a testament to good use of small space, thanks to the designers at The Works. Notice the built-in cabinets and the recessed, upholstered “headboard” nook. Beautiful and genius.

A tiny swatch won’t do white paint justice. Nail your pick by coating a poster board with the potential hue, and see how it looks during the day and at night. Here, a warmer tone keeps the bedroom glam yet cozy.

A ti q te parece??

Did you scroll all this way to get facts about girls room decor? Well you’re in luck, because here they come. There are 169926 girls room decor for sale on Etsy, and they cost €19.91 on average. The most common girls room decor material is cotton. The most popular color? You guessed it: pink.

A foundation of sleek white offers a modern look for this girl’s room, while vivid sherbet green and lipstick pink add youthful personality. While a two-color scheme is simple, sometimes adding a third color can make a kid’s room sing. This also lets you incorporate a favorite, of-the-moment color. In this girl’s bedroom idea, bedding with the room’s pink and green scheme features a bit of blue, which also makes a splash on the storage boxes atop the dresser.

Warm gray walls serve as a blank canvas to accommodate bright furniture and accessories in this little girl’s bedroom. A whimsy upholstered kid’s headboard mimics the shape of a house, and a yellow footboard and mirror add bright color. A hopscotch rug ties the room’s colors together while also providing a fun game to play.

My girls are very close, like best friends. I worried about them being in their own rooms that it would break some of that bond. I worried about lots of aspects of them having their own room. I thought about it a ton. Maybe too much. It boiled down to the fact that they were staying up late EVERY. NIGHT. TALKING. So cute and so sweet that they had all that sister time and chatting. The issue is that they were staying up late every night and they were ALWAYS cranky and our house was suffering.

Creating a play area that both siblings can enjoy, even simultaneously, is super helpful, especially for tired mommies and daddies. Floor mats, cushions and soft larger items like a rocking horse and tents are perfect to outline the area and fun for both to play in. Place your older child’s toys in accessible storage containers, but higher than the floor so your youngest can’t easily touch it.

Be smart about storage when decorating a small bedroom. Employ a nightstand with drawers and shelves and install a floating shelf above for extra storage in a small bedroom. Consider room organizers for small rooms for maximum clutter control.

Add a little whimsy to your child’s space and create a handmade mobile. Birds, butterflies and geometric shapes are currently the most common mobile designs on the market. You don’t have to be a super-DIYer but it certainly pays off to start thinking handmade even if it’s just for the smallest of details. Typically when your daughter becomes a teenager she will no longer want to have her room filled with pictures of fairies, stuffed animals, or princess decorations. Instead she will begin looking for sophisticated teenage girl room ideas and designs so she can revamp her space with more mature décor. Whether it be new bedding, a fresh coat of paint, or even updated furniture, redecorating can become costly so you may want to look for cheap room ideas for teenagers. For example, painting old furniture yourself is a quick, inexpensive, and easy way to create a new and custom look. Paint the furniture a rustic pink color and then distress it to create an elegant and vintage look that is very popular among new 2017 bedroom design trends. Other fads for a tween bedroom include bright colors, geometric wall art, and modern furniture pieces. An organized and clutter-free bedroom doesn’t have to consist of clear storage containers and rows of school-style cubbies. A tall and simple bookshelf consisting of both drawers and shelves can showcase her favorite toys and collectibles, while keeping small trinkets safely stored. Design by Susie Fougerousse

Making the most of the vertical space in a small bedroom is an excellent way to keep things neat and organized. Floating shelves will hold a multitude of books and magazines. I really like the bedroom design with the built in bed with moldings on the side and the shelf ledge on top. Do you have any additional pictures of this bedroom? I would like to have a built in like this constructed for my daughter but would like to see more images.

For a girly look, choose heart bedding and pretty curtains to match. A pink table lamp continues the theme, while furniture in a light-coloured wood is more subtle and won?t overpower the girly furnishings and colour scheme.

An eclectic mix of styles doesn’t have to take up much room – in http://thenextdaily.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ sometimes a small space really highlights a wonderful blend of décor. This tiny bedroom, for example, combines Asian, retro, and rustic touches for a result that’s huge in personality and style. Another great tip for a small master bedroom: instead of bedside lamps, save space with pendant lights.

Moody, masculine & deliciously unconventional, Scott Newkirk’s New York bedroom is my idea of the perfect retreat. I love the way he has skilfully coupled a restrained & muted palette with a medley of textural layers from metal & woods to linen, wool & length-upon-length of natural burlap. He has created a surprisingly luxurious getaway which is both atmospheric & calming. Image credit

Sometimes, words of encouragement are exactly what you need to start the day smiling. Hang our wall art lettering up and remind yourself to stay happy as you shine through your day. Bling it up with flashy glitter letters in sayings like peace, or take it down a notch and just hang your name on the back of your bedroom door. Some options, like our heart-shaped cabinet, provide functionality too.

Small bedrooms are often short on storage, so take advantage of every inch of wasted space. Antique dough bowls, large baskets, plastic bins or rolling drawers create easy-to-use extra storage under your bed. Helpful Hint: Save even more space by filling your containers with items sealed in vacuum space bags. Photo courtesy by Janice Donlan.

Don’t be afraid to go big with your accents for the master bedroom. Find pieces that include some of the bolder shades in your color scheme. Don’t shy away from patterns or prints. Choose items that you love; just be sure that they bring your personality into the room.

Now this pillow isn’t nearly quite as simple. In fact, it is probably a lot of work to make and either glue or sew all these pink ruffles. It makes for a gorgeously detailed decorative throw pillow though. thegirlinspired.

For a simple window treatment for a child?s room, opt for a patterned Roman blind, choosing a blackout lining if you need to cut the light. Always fit a safety device to secure blind cords out of the way of children.

I prefer the cottage/farmhouse look in my home, though I live in a patio apartment. The bedroom above is typical of how I decorate. I’m really into the black, red, gray and white color combination. Also, this bedroom has a lot of textural elements that give it character and charm. The rug on the floor. And the wicker trunk at the end of the bed. I also love anything vintage, and having a piece of furniture that perhaps belonged to grandma fits right in. The red blanket on the wicker trunk looks handy to pull up when you’re reading a book or taking an afternoon nap. My blog is about coziness – so my rooms have to include that element to encompass all that I love about decorating. This is a cozy room. And that’s what I love most about it. Image credit

I don’t know about you, but I find that having non-themed rooms in my home is essential to the ever-changing needs of family life. What’s more, themed rooms spells hotel. And do we want to live in a soulless hotel? Thought not. Ask yourself, as children grow out of their beds, share with a sibling or move rooms, could their ‘old’ room be adapted as a snug, study or dining room? The littlies’ needs change so much and so quickly in those first few years, it really makes sense to go for a scheme that is multi-purpose but, most importantly, timeless. Turn convention on its head and experiment. This Farrow & Ball wide stripe is supposed to be hung vertically but I couldn’t resist flipping it ninety degrees. For furniture, see what you can find in flea markets and slap a coat of paint over it, or rummage around in local auction houses. Brown furniture is still well-priced and besides, it is so much more fun for a child to be grabbing their clothes out of an old chest of drawers that has a story to tell, than an identikit piece, hot off the production lines from China. Although they will only appreciate it (there’s always hope) when they move out, taking their ‘old friend’ with them. The overall effect is much more personal and full of character, which is what makes a home your home.

Incorporate elements that show your children their growing family. Photos of the kids together, framed handprints of when they each were newborns encourage them to appreciate their younger or older sibling while adding a warm family atmosphere to their bedroom.

This room has a beautiful vintage/industrial style. A bedroom to me is a place to rest and to surround myself with calmness. This needs to be reflected in the decor. Nothing should draw too much attention. It needs to be laid back, full of natural materials, casual and cosy.

Your first step is to select an underlying color palette for the main elements of the room (walls, rug, furniture) that is gender neutral…and, if they’re old enough to chime in, that each sibling gives the thumbs up. The lighting needs to be chosen wisely as well because a very bright bedroom is not soothing enough, whereas a room with insufficient lighting will hinder activities such as bedtime reading. Accessories add the perfect finishing touch to bedroom designs. For example, soft furnishings add comfort, style and colour whereas beautiful cashmere throws are luxurious and warm. Scented candles add a nice touch and woven baskets provide storage and work well with natural, rustic and eclectic styles.
