bedroom ideas for girls that are 7 pokemon nature inspired kids room

I start with furniture painting. In this room decorations video I show how to easily transform your plain furniture. I painted my drawers in pink and minty green and also added white dots all over for a true polka dots overload. I love how my new furniture itself made my small room so much more beautiful, while I haven’t even started with the DIY room decor ideas! This DIY project is perfect for girls, teenagers or even children.

Crystal Palecek, cofounder of Rue magazine, her husband, Andrew, had to adapt their cozy San Francisco home to accommodate their son, Benjamin. Space was limited, so the couple turned to an underutilized space — their cluttered walk-in — for the reno.

These three cool royals have been invited to take part in the very first Princess Punk Street Style Contest. They’re each determined to win so they’ll need to come up with new looks that are big, bold, and all around awesome. Can you help all three of them choose a few piercings, temporary tattoos, edgy outfits, and more in this online game for girls?

I love a crisp, clean, modern bedroom like this one from NylonPinksy. I love to switch up an ‘expected’ design of a space, with something unexpected like using two different lamps on the nightstands (as in this photo).

Hanging beds or wall beds are the trend of the day. These beds make up a great idea for your teenage girls bedroom. You could mix up these hanging beds with either a simple theme or an elegant and luxurious themed room décor for your girls. You can add a separate or common work table for the girls along with nice and elegant storage cabinets. The hanging beds leave you enough space for fitting in extra, classy storage baskets.

The age of your daughter will largely determine what type of décor or theme you should use in the room. With a newborn, you will want to find baby girl nursery room ideas, such as a farm animal or fairy theme, that will be appropriate for many years or that can easily be altered as your daughter grows and her tastes change. Circus design or farm animal themes are good baby room ideas for girls that your daughter will not quickly out grow. They are also both gender neutral themes that can be incorporated into a shared toddler room for girls and boys. For either of these designs, you can paint the walls of the room a neutral color such as pale yellow or blue and then purchase bedding, art, curtains, wall decals, and accessories that are consistent with the theme. Wall decals and pretty girls bedding sets with pink pigs, white ducks, yellow chicks and other barnyard animals are farm-themed accessories that are inexpensive and can be easily removed or altered when your daughter is older and wants to transfer her space into a teenage bedroom.

Just because your bedroom is small doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with the décor. Case in point: the bold striped walls in this otherwise quite traditional bedroom from blogger and designer Centsational Girl. It works beautifully thanks to the extremely limited neutral palette and lack of clutter or fussiness. If you like the general idea, but don’t want to go quite as bold, use two close tints of the same color to create your stripes.

The big debate was over who was getting what room. That was such a hard decision. I know lots of people just give the oldest child what they want. Being a youngest child, I don’t like that philosophy. I don’t know why being born first means you should get everything you want and being born later means you shouldn’t even be asked what you want.

Girls usually, prefer to have black and pink stripes, flowers and dots, or some other designs in her decorating ideas. You can add matching comforters and throw pillows in an accent color. A daybed is an excellent choice for your girl’s bedroom ideas. Scatter rugs in various shapes and colors can modernize your girl’s bedroom floor. Chair selection is another aspect of bedroom decorating ideas for young teenage girls, as they may need somewhere to sit besides the bed.

Sometimes, words of encouragement are exactly what you need to start the day smiling. Hang our wall art lettering up and remind yourself to stay happy as you shine through your day. Bling it up with http://www.cleveland19.com/story/37622080/news glitter letters in sayings like peace, or take it down a notch and just hang your name on the back of your bedroom door. Some options, like our heart-shaped cabinet, provide functionality too.

A smaller space doesn’t mean smaller furniture. “One of my pet peeves is miniature bedside tables. Especially next to a larger bed frame and mattress—tiny nightstands can look so dorky,” says Humphrey, who advises his clients to buy normal-size furnishings for small spaces. “It can actually make a small room look bigger and will be more useful and functional,” he adds. Humphrey also picks pieces that can do double duty and makes room for essential pieces. “In my own (small) bedroom I don’t have room for a dresser, so I have large nightstands with drawers that hold my clothes,” he says. “And even if it’s a tight fit, I always want at least a small chair in the corner (dining size can work in a pinch) or bench at the end of the bed as a catchall for clothes, pillows, or whatever garments get flung around before bed.”

It also helps you to choose the right colour, a range of styles, for example from country to industrial, and inspirations from designs around the globe to make the bedroom a better place.

Create a classic coastal haven with a nautical-themed bedroom that makes guests feel at home by the sea. A red, white, and blue color scheme and ocean-inspired accents, such as this sailboat portrait, hint at the theme without going overboard.

A vibrant headboard upholstered in a mix of patterns makes this girl’s room ultra personal. The shape of the headboard and other girls’ bedroom decor shown here speaks to the creative side of your child. A neutral backdrop of soft gray walls allows the cheery fabrics to shine (you can also use girl’s bedroom wallpaper for this project). Keeping other decor simple in solid colors ensures that pieces can last from childhood well into her teen years; just make sure she is a part of the planning so the bedroom continues to reflect her unique personality!

This dresser area is all about Disney’s Aladdin with its rich purple and gold tones as well as little statue and hanging decorations. Using pretty gold necklaces as curtain ties will add a different touch, enhance the theme and obviously keep the mirror visible. homeliteracyblueprint.

Whether in need of a reading nook, a place to gab on the phone, or a simple spot to relax, turning a corner into a soft, whimsical space is a great choice for a teenage girl’s bedroom. This particular design can be emulated with a rounded curtain rod and sheer panel drapes. Paper flowers hung from the ceiling add to the cushy look, while the metallic accent pillows give the space a chic vibe. A high pile shag rug completes the snuggly corner, the perfect intimate space for a girl to enjoy some privacy and de-stress.

I love the calming look of this bedroom and the use of natural textures and images. The bedding colour palette of pale grey and blush pink works beautifully together and helps evoke a peaceful atmosphere.  For me, a cosy bedroom incorporates plenty of pillows and cushions on the bed and a throw to add extra warmth, and different textures add interest. The icing on the cake is the stunning forest wall mural. It’s got a magical feel to it and transports you to another place. Even if you’re living in the middle of a city, you’d get that fantastic view when you get out of bed in the morning. Hanging a mirror on the opposite wall would ensure you could see the trees from the bed too! Image credit

This may seem obvious, but ditch the king-size (or even queen) bed and use space-saving furniture. If storage space is an issue, under-bed storage containers such as this one can free up a lot of space.

This tulle dress form of sorts is a great way to hold and display all of your little girl’s hair bows and such. The tulle easily holds its shape and has a great texture for the bows to hold on to, plus it can become quite decorative – it’s a bow skirt after all. momdot.

Every room needs a focal point, an eye-catching spot that establishes a hierarchy so you don’t see just a jumble. Many times, the focal point is the head of the bed, which you can amplify with an arrangement of bold pillows. When organizing small spaces, your eye might also be attracted to the window. Rather than let these two strong elements compete for attention, place the bed in front of the window to meld cohesively. Or, dress one element—the bed or the window—neutrally, so it recedes and the other can take center stage.

I adore white painted walls and then really experimenting with pattern and colour in the soft furnishings and bedroom accessories. Floral patterns are always a favourite of mine for a feminine look and the brighter the colours the better. The informal group of pretty postcards fixed with washi tape is super cute and I like being able to easily change the display to suit my mood and the season. The look is a little bit granny chic so suits my love of hunting for eclectic items in charity shops. Even on a dull day this bedroom would cheer me up. Image credit

Her closet still has the curtains on it like we had for the playroom. We had to modify the shelving in the closet to fit clothes as we had built it for a playroom. We used a Rubbermaid closet system that can be easily modified because it has tracks in the walls. You can see what the closet looked like before in my playroom reorganization post. It has detailed pics for you. It cost just a few dollars to change out her closet to hold her clothes and still hold some toys and some homeschool supplies.

Lots of kids want a rainbow-bright bedroom, and why not? If your daughter loves color, but not necessarily all pink, keep the floors, the furniture and the walls (other than perhaps one accent wall) neutral, and then go wild on the bedding, small furnishings and accessories. A crazy-bright accent wall mural is another fun touch that works in a child’s space, but is too much for the master bedroom. This adorable room was found on Craft-O-Maniac.

A cosmic chair forms a focal point in this bright and airy girls bedroom in Florida. Glamour, sparkle and romance combine in the accessories, while white walls keep the backdrop crisp and clean. A powder pink accent wall is a super-feminine touch.

Typically when your daughter becomes a teenager she will no longer want to have her room filled with pictures of fairies, stuffed animals, or princess decorations. Instead she will begin looking for sophisticated teenage girl room ideas and designs so she can revamp her space with more mature décor. Whether it be new bedding, a fresh coat of paint, or even updated furniture, redecorating can become costly so you may want to look for cheap room ideas for teenagers. For example, painting old furniture yourself is a quick, inexpensive, and easy way to create a new and custom look. Paint the furniture a rustic pink color and then distress it to create an elegant and vintage look that is very popular among new 2017 bedroom design trends. Other fads for a tween bedroom include bright colors, geometric wall art, and modern furniture pieces. Storage space is an essential component of all teen girl room decoration so make sure to look for shelving units, trunks, and dressers. Search our online photo galleries for images of cool teenage girl bedrooms and creative storage ideas.

If your ultimate goal is “cozy,” then work different textures into the décor. Stick with classic patterns (tartan plaid, checks) and introduce different colors with the bed linens, walls, and accessories.

Geometric details like the striped rug and check curtains complement the adventure-inspired gallery wall. New cabinets add tons of toy storage and a bright yellow slipcover transforms an old futon from the basement.

Incorporate elements that show your children their growing family. Photos of the kids together, framed handprints of when they each were newborns encourage them to appreciate their younger or older sibling while adding a warm family atmosphere to their bedroom.

bedroom decor ideas for teenage girls ornaments for walls

I decided to give the smaller room to my older daughter, Snowflake. My younger daughter, Pumpkin, got the larger room. When my older daughter was younger she had some major issues with the bigger room and wouldn’t even go in that room alone. It was a whole big deal, we had some concerns that some of that may resurface. We also felt that she is at an age where her ‘toys’ are getting smaller and she doesn’t need as much space for her things and room to play on the floor. My younger daughter has quite a few larger toys and still loves plenty of room to play. She got the larger room. Like I said, I’m still not sure we made the right choice, but it is done for now.

The elementary-school years… they’re a delight. No longer an infant or toddler requiring middle-of-the-night care, but not yet a teen with a corresponding attitude, the elementary-age child, for the most part, is full of fun, love and whimsy. If you have a daughter in this age category, it’s time for her to have a bedroom that reflects her status as “not a baby anymore,” yet still retains the innocence of childhood. Here are twelve ideas for decorating a bedroom that will thrill any little girl,…MORE starting with this adorable space from Chango & Co.

These are some really great designs for anyone with smaller bedrooms! A lot of people choose to go with less or smaller furniture, in order to maximize floor space. But I’ve always preferred some of the ideas put forward here, like full-wall shelving and other ways to maximize space.

Every inch of a little princess’s room has to be decked out to perfection, and the girls designer bedroom is no exception to that rule. The fabric that hangs draped here is a great match for the decoration and an even better background for the beautiful chandelier that hangs in its center. frostedpetticoatblog.

Keep yourself on track each day with a cool alarm or wall clock in your room. Match the colors of your clock to the colors in your bedding to instantly tie the entire room together. Or, pick a silver, white, black or gold clock to give your room a jeweled appearance. Set out a mini-fridge near your study zone, and you’ve instantly created a cozy learning corner that will encourage you to keep studying.

Baby nurseries don’t have to be swathed in pastels and animal motifs. For a more sophisticated look, start with a foundation of warm and soothing grays, and use geometric or abstract patterns. In this nursery, a single pattern on the window treatments and bed skirt furthers the minimalist vibe. Look for ways to take advantage of every nook in a kid’s rooms. Here, a changing table tucks perfectly into a small alcove, leaving more available floor space.

If your little girl has a knack for geography, consider girl’s bedroom wallpaper that has an educational flair. In this globetrotter’s room, a map of the world takes up the entire accent wall. Here, she can plan her next big adventure or be inspired to pick up a few library books on the eastern hemisphere. Plan the bedding and textiles around the colors found in the global designs.

The big debate was over who was getting what room. That was such a hard decision. I know lots of people just give the oldest child what they want. Being a youngest child, I don’t like that philosophy. I don’t know why being born first means you should get everything you want and being born later means you shouldn’t even be asked what you want.

This lovely – but tiny – home was once a library. Now it’s a testament to good use of small space, thanks to the designers at The Works. Notice the built-in cabinets and the recessed, upholstered “headboard” nook. Beautiful and genius.

When it pertains to colors, you might discover that it is best to start with his preferred color. If the shade he has actually selected is too dark for the real wall shade, you can constantly repaint the wall surface a neutral shade and afterwards integrate his favorite shade into patterns, wall surface borders, etc

This monogram is another easy decoration DIY that you can make in no time and use in many ways. You can use it to decorate the walls or set it on top of furniture. lulus.

Your bed should always be the focal point of your bedroom, and in small rooms, the best way to make it the focal point is to place it in the center of the room’s most visible wall (usually the wall that faces you when you’re standing in the doorway). This way you will have enough room to access your bed from both sides, and if your room is large enough, you can even place nightstands on either side of the bed.

Larger products, such as beds and head boards, must be chosen with the concept that they will continue to serve the child for a number of even more years. Wooden headboards are usually the most effective selection for boys. When boys are young, wood head boards can quickly function as the background for a nautical theme or cowboy style; both which are typically quite preferred with young boys. When he outgrows these motifs wood headboards can easily be incorporated right into a more mature theme, specifically with making use of dark strong colors and also plaids.

Prior to this tween girl’s bedroom redesign, the walls were covered in bright lilac paint, which gave it more of a little girl’s identity. In order to make it cool enough for a tween yet classic enough for parents, the space would be painted a dark shade of violet, the dated wall-to-wall carpet would be replaced with gray-toned vinyl plank flooring and the childish furniture would be swapped out for colorful vintage pieces.

Before buying furniture for your bedroom, you need to decide some factors like wall colour, or bedroom wallpaper, and the type of flooring that you want. Try to choose a colour that will help you create a calm atmosphere and also compliment well with your bedroom furniture. The lighting needs to be chosen wisely as well because a very bright bedroom is not soothing enough, whereas a room with insufficient lighting will hinder activities such as bedtime reading. Accessories add the perfect finishing touch to bedroom designs. For example, soft furnishings add comfort, style and colour whereas beautiful cashmere throws are luxurious and warm. Scented candles add a nice touch and woven baskets provide storage and work well with natural, rustic and eclectic styles. You can also use wallpaper to work with the size and shape of your room, for example, striped wallpaper can make walls look taller, or rooms appear wider, which is particularly good for small rooms.

Although carpet is usually the most popular flooring choice for bedrooms, it’s hard to keep clean in high-traffic rooms. Rather than going through the motions of having carpet professionally cleaned yearly, it may be a better investment to simply replace wall-to-wall carpet with resilient vinyl plank flooring. Averaging less than $1.50 per square foot, vinyl plank is easy to install by cutting to size with a utility knife, then staggering each plank to create a pattern. As opposed to carpet, which stains easily, vinyl can simply be wiped clean with a sponge.

Here is a unique decoration idea for your room; place your desk and chair in front of a window and hang some colorful curtains around your little in-room getaway. Preferably, add some drawers and cabinets, so you can keep your things tucked away. You can use this corner to get over with your assignments and homework.

My recipe for a cool children’s bedroom involves 3 main ingredients: great storage, blackboard paint and amazing lights. I love this room because it works just as well for girls as it does for boys. The rock star/monochrome theme is always age appropriate – very important because in my experience kids grow. Fast! The hip industrial vibe is den-like and softened with tactile furs, comforting checks and a cosy rug. Extra twinkling lights at ceiling height add a bit of fairytale magic and nobody grows out of sleeping under the stars, right? On the other side of this room I’d install a bank of full height cupboards to hide all the cargo that comes with every child and also has a habit of growing with them. Mini rock stars might prefer a cabin bed or bunks and some extra spots and stripes in the form of soft furnishings would provide the X factor for me. A clean white or neutral base is ideal for teenage bedrooms, as it offers the opportunity to chop and change the look as quickly as teenage tastes and styles do! Opt for classic white furniture with a slender profile, as this will help reduce the sense of clutter. However, this sunny, pretty space is really all about the accessories; a bold bloom bedspread, hot pink accents, soft pastel lamps and prints and a tactile sheepskin throw on the chair ensure this space is modern and still playful.

OK so im 14 and i hav 2 share a really small room with my 11 and 16 year old sisters. We definitely cant afford any of this stuff and it wouldnt fit anyway. i think maybe you should put cheap but cute ides out there instead of all this rich kid stuff.

What fun to see into your girls room! It will also be fun to see the progress you make in them. Maybe you could of had the girls toss a coin over the large room. Leaving it up to chance then dissolves any bitterness towards a parent who made the calll. I heard this parenting advice years ago and it works great in situations like this where there seems to be no right answer. I might add though firstborn children had a special inheritance in bible days. They are the “first fruit” from the womb and God treats them a bit differently. You may want to look it up, it is a bit hard for me to explain. Just so you know I am a middle child, so I have those issues! I am a mom of 4 boys so I know it is hard to treat them equally, and also realize they are different! We have an en-suite bedroom with a bathroom which my oldest used until he moved away from college. Then my 2nd oldest moved in and will be there until he moves out. And so on it will go. It works for us! Have a lovely weekend!

You can pick up some great furnishing tricks from hotel rooms. Hotel room designers are masters of designing comfortable bedrooms for sleeping and lounging. Here’s a great hotel detail that will give your bedroom a touch of luxury. Add a pair of comfortable and inviting upholstered chairs at the end of a bed to provide a place for reading and relaxing.

We are in the process of transforming our little one’s nursery into her big girl’s room. I’m going for a Scandinavian style with a touch of colour just like the one in this picture. The ingredients to achieve the perfect kids’s Nordic style room should include geometric patterns – you can use them in items of bedding or storage like boxes and bags. Cool prints to hang on the wall using washi tape. Picture Shelves are great for displaying art, books or small toys/decorative accessories. Adopt a minimal colour palette: black, white and one or two pastel colours. Finally, introduce a Charles Ray Eames table and chairs and an old fashioned looking white metal bed. A must to achieve the perfect Scandinavian look! Image Credit

When choosing the pieces that will decorate your walls, try to keep variety in mind. Play with colors, textures and artistic materials for the artwork itself, and don’t be afraid to mix different sizes, shapes and frame styles.

I love your ideas! There great! Do you do anything for small room decores? I have a queen size bed and i am looking for a fun way to jazz up my room! I am 12 almost 13 and am tired of the old room! Dont have a ton o money so i hope you guys got something! Thank you !!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Being a ballerina is almost as much of dream for little girls as being a princess. This dream can easily be achieved, as it isn’t very difficult at all to hang a ballet barre and matching big mirror in your princess’s room. blesserhouse.

My girls are very close, like best friends. I worried about them being in their own rooms that it would break some of that bond. I worried about lots of aspects of them having their own room. I thought about it a ton. Maybe too much. It boiled down to the fact that they were staying up late EVERY. NIGHT. TALKING. So cute and so sweet that they had all that sister time and chatting. The issue is that they were staying up late every night and they were ALWAYS cranky and our house was suffering.

A peppy palette of pinks and yellow-base greens is playful, but it also transitions from a toddler room idea to teen decor. The mix of patterns knows no age barrier and provides plenty of other color options for makeovers later on. For example, the soft sage or fuchsia in the bedding could easily translate into a wall color, and the room would still sport a cohesive design.

Emphasize a soaring ceiling with a showstopping theme. In this playful room, alternating stripes of sky and baby blues creates a tentlike ceiling treatment. A fun theme like this makes room for cool beds for girls. A classic four-poster bed has long-lasting style, while freestanding furniture—such as the desk, chair, and bookshelf—can be replaced or upcycled as she grows older.

all these rooms are SUPER cool. Awesome creativity! But next time, it’d aqua and magenta girls bedroom great if maybe you guys could design a room thats, well, more affordable looking/ realistic. I mean, c’mon, we’re teenagers who dont really have THAT much extra cash on hand to use on hand haha. And maybe ‘simpler’ room sizes. The loft one is super cool, but its not like everyone has a loft in their room. . . . awesome ideas though!

These are some some incredibly creative ideas! I love how these designs make the most of small spaces. Another option is to purchase furniture with multiple purposes. A great choice is a Zoom-Room or Zoom-Desk. Zoom-Room is a 21st century version of the Murphy Bed. It’s a remote controlled retractable Wall Bed that snakes up behind the cabinet instead of folding down, so you can put your flat screen TV or bookshelves in front. The Zoom-Room is customizeable with custom cabinets, home office accessories, finishes, and materials. It combines both function and great design.

Storage is key in small spaces, especially in the bedroom where most of your belongings are kept. When you don’t have a lot of space, you have to be creative with your storage. For example, you can use under-bed storage boxes to stash out-of-season clothing away and custom shelving to store things like shoes and books. You can even place a storage ottoman at the foot of your bed for extra seating and storage.

A sleigh bed, for example, is a preferred conventional style of bed that can be conveniently combined with deluxe bed linens to produce a conventional, classic look in your bedroom. Of course, if you desire an extra modern look you could take into consideration the very same sleigh bed including modern lines and integrated with solid shades, stripes or geometric patterns.

Although the internet and home decorating magazines are great resources for girls room designs, ideas and pictures for this space can be found in unexpected places. Get inspiration from childhood story books, your daughter’s favorite movie, or even popular television shows. However the best, and most important resource for unique girls room design ideas such as castle themes, Barbie decorations, or mermaid inspired décor, will be your daughter herself. Regardless of how old she is, most young girls will have some sort of preference towards what is put in their room, whether it be for the color you paint the walls, the art you hang on the walls, or the covers you put on the bed. So try to involve your daughter in the decoration process by having her look at online pictures of kids rooms with you, tag along with you while you search department stores for childrens bedding, or even come with you to the home improvement store to find paint samples. With her help you will be able to make your little girls room makeover a fun and exciting task.

The right girl’s room decor grows with your child and calls for creativity and clever planning. Keep life simple by leaving your girl’s bedroom colors and furniture bright and white. The neutral backdrop will blend effortlessly with any number of solids and patterns on bedding and other decor. Plus, the natural light bounces off the walls brightening the room even more. As a bonus, clean white walls keep this attic bedroom from looking cramped and tiny.

There’s a few things that are key to how you feel when you walk into your bedroom – mainly it comes down to floors, walls, furniture and decoration. If you’re renting you may not be able to touch the floors or walls and will have to work with what you have. If it’s your own house however, you may be wondering which colour to paint the walls so they go with your floors, or so you can make a small bedroom appear bigger. Pay attention to these elements in the photos.

If you thought a small master bedroom couldn’t be every inch the equal in elegance to those huge rooms you see on Pinterest or in glossy interior decorating magazines, one look at Steven Ford Interior’s gorgeous navy blue, cream, and gray bedroom will change your mind. Stunning.

This is a photo of my 8 year old son’s room, styled and photographed by myself. It’s a modern Breton themed bedroom.  I styled this bedroom in the autumn to bring a fresh, bright and happy feel to the room. I made sure that a cosy feel is maintained, with the soft throw on the bed for bedtime tucking in and the cushion for casual lounging. Everything is positioned conveniently, such as the comforting bedside light, an accessible bedside table for his drink and storage below his table for toys. Next to his bed is a laundry bag which encourages tidiness. To the right of his bed is a large shelf of favourite books, recently converted to his workspace. To the left of his bed is an empty area for running around with friends. Image courtesy of Gerladine Tan.

personally i think they should be more realistic about the room sizes most kids dont have a room the size of these. and i personally dont like have of these rooms they look to grown up or kinda kidish.

Everyone wants a bedroom that feels like an escape from their busy lives, but sometimes it can be hard to strike the balance between indulgence and function. We hope these master bedroom ideas can help you achieve the perfect middle ground. Feel free to use our suggestions as the jumping-off point to designing your new favorite room in the house.

Everyones saying these rooms look like hospital rooms, or rooms for little kids, or adult women maybey. But there not, maybey one or two of them are, but these rooms really would be great teen rooms. For people who could afford it, and have enough money to where they don’t have to be practical. So like i said before, these rooms are really neat, just not practical, or probably not even affordable.

If you need to compromise on a decorating style for the master bedroom, consider colors that are neither too masculine nor too feminine. Play with patterns and textures: florals on the walls, velvet on the headboard, and striped accents.

I wish I had designed this room – I love everything about it. The bleached natural pine floorboards and tall white walls are a perfect canvas for those pretty vintage pieces and more colourful toys. With a restrained colour palette like this, a child’s room always look stylish, no matter how messy it is. I love kids’ rooms that aren’t filled with matching furniture sets from children’s ranges. Finding meaningful, beautiful pieces gives kids’ rooms personality – it takes time, but this is how the best interiors develop, organically. Quirky details such as the hat collection add fun, whilst the unexpectedly small and contrasting orange pendant adds punch to this calm monochrome scheme. I agree that these rooms are unrealistic and too perfect. I’m currently trying to re-decorate my room and none of the above were helpful in providing even the slightest inspiration. Most of them are twice the size of my room; and alot of the furniture just wouldn’t fit. If anyone has pictures of rooms that are smaller and something do-able, let me know.

Even better, use sleek, contemporary built-ins for additional storage. Built-ins maximize storage while looking like they’re not even there. A good built-in around your bed creates a cozy sleeping nook while adding plenty of storage.

I don’t know about you, but I find that having non-themed rooms in my home is essential to the ever-changing needs of family life. What’s more, themed rooms spells hotel. And do we want to live in a soulless hotel? Thought not. Ask yourself, as children grow out of their beds, share with a sibling or move rooms, could their ‘old’ room be adapted as a snug, study or dining room? The littlies’ needs change so much and so quickly in those first few years, it really makes sense to go for a scheme that is multi-purpose but, most importantly, timeless. Turn convention on its head and experiment. This Farrow & Ball wide stripe is supposed to be hung vertically but I couldn’t resist flipping it ninety degrees. For furniture, see what you can find in flea markets and slap a coat of paint over it, or rummage around in local auction houses. Brown furniture is still well-priced and besides, it is so much more http://www.wlox.com/story/37622080/news for a child to be grabbing their clothes out of an old chest of drawers that has a story to tell, than an identikit piece, hot off the production lines from China. Although they will only appreciate it (there’s always hope) when they move out, taking their ‘old friend’ with them. The overall effect is much more personal and full of character, which is what makes a home your home.

I liked alot of the room designs you have here but I think most of them are extremley unrealistic, like most girls don’t have rooms that size….most of those rooms were massive and had stairs etc. But I did like the designs!

Very informative article. I highly suggest you check out this. With a few straightforward and practical design changes, you can create extra space or at least an illusion of it in your smaller living space.

I have seen this image come up on my Pinterest feed a few times in the past and have always thought I would love to be lying in that bed reading a good book! I love the contrast of black and white and think it’s a clever decision to have the fur on the end of the bed so it warms up the rest of the scheme. The artwork is oversized but not overpowering and I am always drawn to a simple colour palette- in this case it’s black, white and brown with a touch of gold. It’s simple, elegant and beautiful.  Image credit

The bedroom is a place when you should be able to relax, rest and sleep well. The space therefore should be simple, clean and uncluttered. Ban all the unnecessary items and focus on the essentials – comfy pillows, soft bedding, good light for reading, and small bedside table to keep your books and water carafe. Create a space where you can rest your eyes and calm your mind, and it means white walls and no busy patterns. I am drawn to this bedroom because of the colour palette – all in soft brown tones. There is a feeling of calm and the crumpled linen looks very inviting. The only decoration it needs is a single artwork on the wall. The beauty here is in simplicity. Image credit

This room has this funny little corner. It works as a great place to http://studio-5.financialcontent.com/pennwell.wafernews/news/read/35871325 up a doll shop, house or barn yard. I also have hooks on the walls for her to hang up her backpack and any other bags. There are better pics of this corner and the hooks in the post I wrote about easy toy storage.

Thanks! Yes, they have worked. They both stayed on no problem as well as could be moved if needed. It was really nice. I’ve since sold the Trofasts as my girls have moved toward older girls rooms. 🙁 Hope you find something that will work for you. 🙂

Beds can make a bedroom layout feel very linear and square. You can prevent this by placing a comfortable upholstered chair on an angle in the corner. This softens the corner of the room and encourages circulation. Add a small side table, some artwork and an ottoman, if there’s room, to make a cozy and inviting place to relax.

Brighten up a neutral children’s room with splashes of colour. Chunky pink letters are mounted on the wall and delicate butterflies hang from the ceiling, giving the scheme an extra girly touch. Keep clutter to a minimum with a storage unit in playful colours.

A dash of vintage, a sprinkle of whimsy and a drop of contemporary all seamlessly intertwined into this gorgeous kid’s room styled by Petite Vintage. The easy to reach storage space makes it easy to tidy up and keep things in their place. Plenty of floor space allows for freedom to move, play and imagine, and the bed frame creates a creative space within a space where dreams are made. The colours used are striking and pleasant and the warmth of the light enhance the colours and soften the geometric lines of the bed frame and the carpet. My tips for decorating a children’s bedroom would be to remember that fairy lights are not just for Christmas – use them in a child’s room to create a dreamy atmosphere and to not be afraid to mix vintage and contemporary styles. Large pieces of furniture can make small rooms look cramped and even smaller. If your closet is big enough, you can avoid this problem by using it as a home for your chest or dresser. You will free up floor space, make your room appear larger and have all of your clothes in one convenient spot.

When done right, black wall paint can make a chic statement in your sleep space. The trick? Paint one wall black and leave the others a bright white, then fill your room with colorful decor in fun patterns and textures.

I have a thing about exposed brickwork in the home. Along with floorboards it gives a raw feeling. Love it. This lofty bedroom is light and airy and the sporadically placed furniture makes it a little quirky. The white palette gives a sense http://dailyinsidescoop.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ tranquillity and the addition of some playful colours makes it homely and inviting too. Image credit

Yes, even if your bedroom is small, you can still have a wow-inducing accent wall, as proven so strikingly here by Décor Gold Designs. Bold wallpaper has a place even in the tiniest of rooms. Just stick with one wall – preferably the one at the head of your bed – and keep the rest of the room sedate in terms of color and pattern.

Though it’s for two little girls, this room has plenty of grown-up sophistication. Crown molding, the fireplace mantel, and carved-wood bed frames are all highly traditional, but they are all finished in soft white rather than a dark stain. To create your own elegant room, stick with a palette of two colors, such as the sage and rose in this room.

Don’t be afraid of the dark! Dark colours have become really cool in interiors and bedrooms are amazing spaces to use them. This dark blue creates a really dramatic space and draws your eye to the crisp white linen and the light of the window. Image credit

I absolutely adore decorating my children’s bedrooms from their nursery start to their teenage finish, as each stage requires something different. We are in the school-boy phase at the moment with my son so we wanted to create a bedroom for him that showcased his personality as much as his age. We chose a daybed here with underneath drawer storage for his clothes and a pull out bed to turn it into a double bed, if he had a sleepover. I like to choose a theme that won’t over-power a room and one that can grow with him too. We went for a red and navy theme with a London twist. I like to keep the bedrooms neutral and when it’s time to change the theme you don’t also have to change the wallpaper and furniture too. Kids enjoy space to roam free so I don’t like it to be cluttered too much with more furniture. My son doesn’t have a dresser as we have plenty of space in these drawers under his bed and in his wardrobe. This leaves more space for his toys and room to play. I think the best thing to do is think of how you can make the space functional for your little one that screams his/her personality but in a way they can love it and grow with it over the years with minimal changes.

So glad you liked all the pictures! I love the laundry hamper as well. I think it is so cute. I think some day she may night like it because there isn’t any cover, but I bet I could create something. 😉 Yes, I will get to their rooms, hopefully in the next 12 months. I’m saving up now. Thanks so much for leaving your sweet comment! ♥

Every princess needs a fairy on her side, even if it is the tooth fairy. This little pink door, which hides a beautiful sky with clouds, adds a fun, decorative element to the room while also letting some magic in. source.

This cottage bedroom at ‘Driftwood’  in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand was a shoot location for Laura Thomas Linens ‘Organic Bed Linen Collection’.  A space where time became irrelevant and the busy technological world we live in could be placed on hold.  The coastal style was uncluttered and the use of straw roller blinds and natural light created an atmosphere of wilderness and calm.  The incredible view could be enjoyed from the comfort of the bed.  A perfect paradise to wake up to! Image credit

Today’s teenagers are design-conscious and up to date on the latest trends. But they’re torn between childhood and adulthood. Most teens have beloved toys they’re not ready to give up, but look for a room that’s older and more sophisticated than their childhood room.

This baby pink rug looks really cute, fluffy and comfortable to walk and sit on, which is perfect for a little girl’s room. The best part is that you can easily make one yourself. Flea market lamps are one of the most affordable ways to add one-of-a-kind lighting to a tween girl’s room. Although found with a beige shade for $25, this brass lamp was updated with a black paper shade picked up at a big-box retailer for less than $15.

Humphrey advocates mixing it up when it comes to scale. “I also like to use the largest area rug that will fit,” he says. “A canopy bed can be a cool juxtaposition in a small room. It’s unexpected, and playing with scale (big bed, small room) can be a fun way to stick it to the design purists.”

This bedroom resides in a period home with high ceilings, classically inspired mouldings and beautiful parquet flooring. As if that isn’t enough, it’s filled with a mixture of mid-century furniture and lighting, breathtaking art and a sophisticated and restrained colour palette. For me it is the embodiment of ‘timelessness’. It will look as good in ten or twenty years time, just as it wouldn’t have looked out of place thirty years ago. It’s also impossible to tell if the owner is male of female. Another sign of simple good taste. And yet, it’s no museum piece, and has all the attributes of a comfortable and restorative bedroom. The pillows are plump and smooth. There’s an extra wool blanket to ward off winter chills. There’s a warm rug for bare feet, and the reading lights are positioned just where they are most effective. There’s even candles handy for when the mood dictates. If I was to add anything, it might be a padded headboard, but then the artwork wouldn’t be centre stage. That’s another word for this room. Many little girl’s bedroom themes can be loud or trendy rather than timeless. If you’d rather avoid them, look for more subtle ways to incorporate a child’s interests or hobbies. For a ballet enthusiast, dress the room in shades of pink, plenty of ruffles, and a few nods to her passion, such as a display of tutus and a piece of art, rather than a whole ballet-slipper bedding set and suite of accessories.

Regardless of your design challenge, when creating a shared room for your little ones if you stick to resourceful, efficient, fun and creative choices, you’ll no doubt create a bedroom your kids will love!

Whether you go for a moody hue or stick to a crisp pale shade, adding plenty of light sources is key to keeping the room from feeling dark and claustrophobic. “Decorative overhead lighting like a pendant or chandelier (instead of ceiling cans), bedside table lamps, a floor lamp, and even reading sconces will add to the ambience,” he says. “Like Andy Warhol said, ‘I believe in low lights and trick mirrors.’

Your bedroom shouldn’t just be the place where you sleep. Ideally, the space should feel like somewhere you want to spend your free time. One easy way to achieve that is by adding a seating area that you can use when you don’t feel like lounging in bed.

I like interiors being minimalist, effortless and welcoming and this bedroom embodies all these things. I love the contrast of the matte black floorboards, the various hues of dark and light grey soft stonewashed linen to curl up in bed on a Sunday morning, the gorgeous atelier windows and the sheet of rusty metal casually lay against the wall and turned into a simple piece of art and a few of our favourite design books. A great combination of simple lines, textures and muted colours. Image credit

I agree with the decision to have the younger child in the larger room. Younger kids toys are larger and they tend to play on the floor more than older kids. Do the girls tend to play together in both rooms or do they migrate to the larger room?

Accent colors are all the rage, but they don’t just have to be on your walls. Bring the brightness to your furniture by painting the backs, shelves, or sides (or all of the above!) of bookcases a festive hue, like this fun and funky gray and pastel pink bookshelf. The same concept can be applied to a number of different pieces of furniture, like the drawers of dressers or the legs of desks. Feel free to go wild; there’s no place better suited to be coated with color than a teenage girl’s bedroom. Be bright and bold with your choices, or opt for more subtle and muted shades— either way, contrasting colors are a trendy and fashionable choice when it comes to teen girl room ideas.

To make what was a juvenile, childish girl’s room more appropriate for a growing tween, its walls were painted a deep shade of violet, album cover-inspired art was hung to create a focal point, vintage lighting was installed on the ceilings and the walls, and women’s fashion fabrics were used in upholstered accents.

Every inch of a little princess’s room has to be decked out to perfection, and the ceiling is no exception to that rule. The fabric that hangs draped here is a great match for the decoration and an even better background for the beautiful chandelier that hangs in its center. frostedpetticoatblog.
