Architect Jonathan Tuckey wanted to combine ‘twenty-first-century comforts with seventeenth-century character’ in this timber-lined chalet in this Swiss Alps, which he imaginatively modernised. Jonathan paired the idea of old and new in this first-floor bedroom with a pair of Fifties rosewood beds from Modernisticks and kept the original plywood walls and floorings, which compliments the subtle decoration of the rest of the chalet.

The owner of this family home in Chelsea has a collection of Fifties, Norwegian abstract-expressionist art; instead of basing his scheme around the colours in the paintings, designer Stephen Eicker cleverly mirrored the rich shades with layers of vibrant fabrics and thickly applied paints instead. The vibrant fabric used as wallcovering in the spare room is by Claremont.
Grove Lodge, the Cambridge home of Tim Knox, director of The Fitzwilliam Museum, and landscape designer Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, provides the perfect setting for the couples growing collection of artwork and curiosities. In the spare bedroom a gallery wall of antique pictures has been coupled with a brass bed-frame and gingham bedspread.

i like the rooms I just feel like a lot of them are girly when not all girls are all about the pink and lacy frill thing. i also looked at the boys rooms and i liked more of those than i did of these–but the one i really liked on this was the one with the ladder that led to this cool loft thing–it would need to be a different color but it was pretty cool ?
Artfully display classic toys to soften the look of a neutral room and add soft furnishings such as small armchairs to delineate a play space. Create useful additional storage by adding shelves to a redundant still our beating hearts. With a removable bed slide, den of cushions on the upper level and Liberty print curtains, this kids’ bedroom designed by Violet & George Interiors is the stuff childhood dreams are made of.
This bedroom in the Tudor wing of Bradwell Lodge – the perfect neoclassical country house in miniature – is decorated with ‘Regent’ wallpaper and matching blinds from Bernard Thorp. The scheme may be sweet and soothing but the room is allegedly haunted.
In a valley on the Waddesdon Manor estate sits Flint House, an award-winning example of contemporary architecture commissioned by Jacob Rothschild. David Mlinaric, a long-time collaborator of the Rothschilds, helped with the interiors, acquiring the odd new piece of furniture and dipping into the Waddesdon storeroom, known as ‘the Pink Shed’, for others. In the main bedroom a feeling of cosseting warmth has been created in this otherwise white interior by painting two walls a rich teal and adding a large dark carpet in a sumptuous fabric. The sceme is tied together by the dark valance, while a convex mirror by Collier Webb adds sparkle and reflects the landscape.
This bedroom by Samantha Pynn is my dream bedroom! The soft colour palette with the simple design gives this room such a relaxing feel, while the blue floral ceramic stool and pillows add another dimension to the room, and keep it from feeling too soft. The sheer curtains let in lots of light, keeping the room lovely and bright.
Young adults are hard to please so give them lots of input. Provide plenty of storage so there’s no excuse for mess, and make sure they have a good study area. Invest in a trundle bed for those sleepover parties, and let them keep their favourite accessories on display in mounted box shelves.
Sedate and restful are good, general concepts for adult bedroom design, but teenagers prefer a bedroom that’s fun and a signature of who they are. The number one response to what personality aspect a teen wants to express through their room was “creative”, while calm came in almost last. Bold, imaginative elements will excite a teen like nothing else. Some unique teen bedroom ideas that add fun to a room include:
There are few places where a teen can express themselves unabashedly. The bedroom is the top choice. The beauty of being a teenager is that the world is their oyster. Their favorite things are diverse and sometimes discordant, but with some planning, all ideas can tie together beautifully.
Add some sparkle to a princess-themed room with a starry wallpapered ceiling. This room’s blue ceiling, as well as small pops of powder blues, lavender, and bright coral, breaks up a mostly pink color scheme. Statement light fixtures above the bed give extra glamour that can carry into teenage years.
Another great colour combination, the fresh apple green walls are set off perfectly by the rich raspberry curtain. Both colours are referenced in the pretty rug and bed linen, but furniture is kept uniformed so as not to over complicate the scheme.
If there’s one thing that makes a bedroom, it’s soft bedding you can see yourself burrowing into. Get that right, then add a striking pendant light and statement nightstand for a look that’s the epitome of effortless style.
In newer construction, drywall is normally hollow and supported by vertical 2x 4 wood beams (studs) that are 16” apart. If your bed is set up on a non-exterior wall, use a stud finder to mark where your bed’s wood wall beams are and cut out an alcove. Your new alcove may not be incredibly deep, but it may be all you need for small necessities like an alarm clock or some personal items.
i agree with lily and not any with lizzy cuz if your room is small than make it so that things can fit in your room but most importantly make it so its your style and that you will injoy going in your room every day. plus if you hated your room the way you desinged you would have to spend more cash witch you would not want. i mean these are really good desings that is on the website, and people will love these desings too but others wont but for me i LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE these desings. dont give up cuz of people who dont like these ideas, keep doing what you love cuz people like me love your ideas and other people do to and it would break there heart to know that you quit!!!!:) welp hope to see more of your designs! later! <3 This gorgeous girl’s room has hand painted, full room wall mural with wooden floors. The atmosphere in this room is enough to give wings to the imagination to your little fairy. I won’t be surprised to find her in the land of ‘Sleeping Beauty’, fast asleep in the garden, waiting for her prince. The traditional bed and the furniture enhance the mystic feel of the atmosphere. This is a photo of my 8 year old son’s room, styled and photographed by myself. It’s a modern Breton themed bedroom. I styled this bedroom in the autumn to bring a fresh, bright and happy feel to the room. I made sure that a cosy feel is maintained, with the soft throw on the bed for bedtime tucking in and the cushion for casual lounging. Everything is positioned conveniently, such as the comforting bedside light, an accessible bedside table for his drink and storage below his table for toys. Next to his bed is a laundry bag which encourages tidiness. To the right of his bed is a large shelf of favourite books, recently converted to his workspace. To the left of his bed is an empty area for running around with friends. Image courtesy of Gerladine Tan. This is why I love this image, as the headboard on the bed is unique and fun, and creates a real focal point. It’s a DIY project that simply needs some panels of wood and a jigsaw to cut the shape. I love how they’ve added washi tape and some images to it – meaning you can add personality, and can easily change these as the mood takes you. They’ve tied the look together subtly with the neon pink touches, but keeping the rest of the colour palette simple. This beautiful bedroom, from Isme, incorporates Eastern elements into the furniture, bedding and wall art. Planes, trains and automobiles: the duvet covers, wall stickers and underbed boxes all draw on this theme. Good storage ensures the room is kept tidy but a simple chalk/pin board allows for a little creativity and a place to display treasured possessions.
