I love this bedroom – it was one of the first I designed and the brief was to create an elegant and serene sanctuary. The soft Cornforth White walls combined with the decadent wallpaper by Tapet Café really do complement one another and create a very soothing mood. The Vogue print adds the perfect ‘pop’ of colour and the large mirror reflects a lot of light into the space. The chandelier by Verner Panton completes the look and adds decadence. Image credit

I am looking for new ideas to decorate my twin daughter’s bedroom. These are some great ideas on different room decor. I love the simple clean look of Michaela Mildenhall’s design. We will have to look into some more styles and options for decorating! Thanks for sharing!

Double the big-kid beds, double the fun! This dreamy toddler room inspiration will make your little ones excited to share a room with their sibling. The key to creating a fun and functional kids’ room for two siblings is to give them each their own space.

When it was time for our toddler to upgrade to his “Big Boy Bedroom” I knew I wanted to design something which would be able to grow with him over the years. The basis of the room is classic stars and stripes, which means we can mix up the accessories as his tastes change. Taking inspiration from our travels around America and their comic book stores we used bright red as an accent colour against greys and whites. Comic covers from our special dates; birthdays, anniversaries etc. hang on the walls next to handmade comic book bunting, framed posters and Superhero silhouettes, with lighting and canopies creating a cosy feel. Super storage solutions hide all manner of clutter and provide a great display area for favourite toys and books.

If you’re lucky enough to have a spare bedroom or un-tapped attic space, turn it into a playroom. Anne-Marie Midy and Jorge Almada – French and Mexican respectively – have done this in their Brussels family home, which they with their two sons, Antoine and Olivier. The couple design modern furniture and accessories that are made using traditional techniques by craftsman in Mexico for sale through their design company Casamidy. We love how the couple isn’t afraid to use a magenta hue on the shelves in a space designed for boys.

A bank of windows frames a pretty picket-fence bed. Surrounded by colorful curtains, the bed is the room’s focal point. Sunlight streams in to illuminate the space, but heavy curtains can be drawn to block out the light for nap time. Although a double bed might look oversized now, it will accommodate a growing child in later years, making it a strategic long-term investment.

The design of this boys’ room was dictated by the original chimneypiece in their Brussels home. The leather headboards are designed by their father Jorge, who runs design company Casamidy with his wife Anne-Marie Midy.

To maximize the floor space, tuck your bed up against a wall or corner. The effect will create a sleep area that feels cozier. If it feels too much like a college dorm? Add a two headboard corner system to create a finished, designer look to a bedroom.

Ohh wow, ” Take That” from what i understand lizzy and oil said that the rooms were really big not big enough. Because my room is nbot as big of any of these rooms!!! Your just putting words in there mouths!! Just Saying. lol. Anyways, niceee roomes. Good ideas!!!!

This bed in the bedroom of gilder Clare Mosley and husband Mark Bicknell was bought in Paris. Its journey hasn’t been smooth. During the eight months it took to make the house reasonably habitable, Clare and Mark camped in one room and the builders worked around them. However, even this safeguard did not protect them from a few of the traditional building disasters. Having gone away for two days, they returned to find that the bed had been cut up and thrown out of the window and into a waiting skip below. Thankfully, it was saved. It is now resplendent with matching quilt, half-tester and cushions in ‘Mikado L2804’ by Le Manach.

The owner loves the spare aesthetic of the bamboo. ‘It is not overwhelming, just a very simple and pure design, not trying to impress, nestled in the leaves, just hanging on the cliff.’ The house was designed by Veere Grenney.

Far from stark and uninspiring, stripped back wooden floors and plain white walls are the epitome of classic Scandinavian interior design. A personal favourite of mine, there is nothing more relaxing than natural light, contrasting textures and a hint of colour popping through in features such as the statement mint wood burner found in this Scandinavian haven. Simple changes make this interior’s style easy to achieve – think fur throws thrown over white bedding, painted floors with warmth added through sheepskin rugs, a series of monochrome finishes including framed typography prints and industrial elements such as this oversized light juxtaposed with untouched wood finishes found throughout. With stylish gray walls and mature furnishings, this little girl’s bedroom can keep her company for years to come. The contemporary white desk and nightstands are suitable for a young girl but can easily make the transition to pre-teen and older. Design by Nicole Sassaman

This blend of pink and purple is perfect for little girl’s bedroom colors that will grow with the child. Give the feminine shades a unique twist with thoughtful application. Pair it with soft neutrals and hints of periwinkle for a classic-meets-glam vibe. This room’s lavender walls, window treatments, and throw pillows work well for a teen, and later on it can suit a guest room. The classic furniture pieces suit either purpose, and simple switches can introduce more subdued accent colors.

This bedroom resides in a period home with high ceilings, classically inspired mouldings and beautiful parquet flooring. As if that isn’t enough, it’s filled with a mixture of mid-century furniture and lighting, breathtaking art and a sophisticated and restrained colour palette. For me it is the embodiment of ‘timelessness’. It will look as good in ten or twenty years time, just as it wouldn’t have looked out of place thirty years ago. It’s also impossible to tell if the owner is male of female. Another sign of simple good taste. And yet, it’s no museum piece, and has all the attributes of a comfortable and restorative bedroom. The pillows are plump and smooth. There’s an extra wool blanket to ward off winter chills. There’s a warm rug for bare feet, and the reading lights are positioned just where they are most effective. There’s even candles handy for when the mood dictates. If I was to add anything, it might be a padded headboard, but then the artwork wouldn’t be centre stage. That’s another word for this room. Playful shapes – such as this bed frame in the shape of a house – are a modern take on the traditional four-poster bed. As the furniture is neutral, add charming pops of colour with the bedding and accessories.

Even if your bedroom is small, it’s still possible to create an interesting space. This is why I love this image, as the headboard on the bed is unique and fun, and creates a real focal point. It’s a DIY project that simply needs some panels of wood and a jigsaw to cut the shape. I love how they’ve added washi tape and some images to it – meaning you can add personality, and can easily change these as the mood takes you. They’ve tied the look together subtly with the neon pink touches, but keeping the rest of the colour palette simple. Image credit

This room is filled with simple styling ideas that make all the difference: a winning colour combination of grey and pink, a feature wall with a clever display rail, some choice bedding and a pretty chandelier. All together, they make up a gorgeous girls’ room.

Vincent Frey is the grandson of the eponymous Pierre Frey founder (and the current deputy manager of the French fabric and furnishing company). Vincent and his wife Bianca hired architect Marika Dru, an old school friend of Vincent’s, to work on their Parisian flat, although decided to decorate it – including son Vasco’s room – themselves. We love the mix of a grand painting with a quirky hanging basket.

Forget stars and stripes, it’s all stars and spots in Zara Home’s new kids’ range. Your little ones won’t be growing out of this fun black, white and red scheme anytime soon. In fact, we Kind of want it in our rooms.

Try this little girl’s room idea for a shared bedroom or a bedroom with space for sleepovers. A curved design prevents the white built-in bunks from feeling bulky, while a smattering of carpet tiles add bright, fun color and soften the room’s flooring. Using carpet tiles is a smart move with girls that love to do arts and crafts; if there is a permanent stain on one tile, simply replace it.

In Louise Jones’ cottage the spare bedroom curtains are Bennison Fabrics’ ‘Apple Blossom’ and the wallpaper is ‘Persian Rose’ from George Spencer Designs. A day bed upholstered in cream linen doubles as a sofa.

Richard Taylor and Rick Englert have built a Jacobean-style manor at Whithurst Park in Sussex. It took a year to get planning permission and two more to build. The result bears some of the signatures of the prodigy houses built in the era, such as Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire and Hatfield House in Hertfordshire. This spare bedroom on the second floor has a four-poster canopy bed and moulded fireplace in keeping with the manor’s Jacobean look.

A rainbow of bright hues shines through this room and touches everything from pillows to walls. When using a strong palette of colors, repeat a particular element to create a sharp look. In this room, circles take the leading role, appearing on bedding, walls, the rug, and artwork. Also use a neutral color, such as white, for furniture, to soften bold colors.
