This simple and beautiful room though small in size, looks enticing. The zebra print and the pink decals impart a novel idea. The wardrobe and the night stand are just right for the size of the room and provide enough storage capacity.

Typically when your daughter becomes a teenager she will no longer want to have her room filled with pictures of fairies, stuffed animals, or princess decorations. Instead she will begin looking for sophisticated teenage girl room ideas and designs so she can revamp her space with more mature décor. Whether it be new bedding, a fresh coat of paint, or even updated furniture, redecorating can become costly so you may want to look for cheap room ideas for teenagers. For example, painting old furniture yourself is a quick, inexpensive, and easy way to create a new and custom look. Paint the furniture a rustic pink color and then distress it to create an elegant and vintage look that is very popular among new 2017 bedroom design trends. Other fads for a tween bedroom include bright colors, geometric wall art, and modern furniture pieces. Storage space is an essential component of all teen girl room decoration so make sure to look for shelving units, trunks, and dressers. The sludgy tones work for Gytha, who with her property-developer husband Jean Michel Bouchon discovered the apartment while renting the flat next door. Where possible, Gytha has avoided using paint. ‘I don’t really like it’ she says. ‘It gives no depth.’ Instead a linen-effect wallpaper by Flamant has been used in the main bedroom, acting as a moody backdrop to a gallery wall of pictures and the red upholstered headboard. ‘It never scuffs, and at night – with low light – it’s just magical. I’m an anti-spotlight person.’

During the initial design stages we find it interesting to focus on one key piece and use its colours, look and feel as a starting point for inspiration – this could be anything from a statement painting to an antique rug. Image credit

Though it’s for two little girls, this room has plenty of grown-up sophistication. Crown molding, the fireplace mantel, and carved-wood bed frames are all highly traditional, but they are all finished in soft white rather than a dark stain. To create your own elegant room, stick with a palette of two colors, such as the sage and rose in this room.

To me, there is nothing better than being able to create a sense of nature inside, connecting the two worlds. Natural fabrics such as linen, matched with cotton and wool knitted throws to create a casual yet cosy atmosphere is perfect for these chilly nights. The wooden headboard creates such a sense of grounding and security, ideal for those of us who need a sanctuary after a long day, but with the use of lighting it softens the overall look. Image credit

Blending the old with the new, Peggy and Hereschel Post – with the help of Tom Bartlett of Waldo Works – have created an astonishingly interesting space. In the bedroom round swirls echo those of the Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell paintings on the walls, but there is a spicy twist – a gigantic circular sculpture, a burst of metal spillikins by Lizzie Farey, hangs behind a modern four-poster bed.

For the teen that’s great at keeping her space clean, an all-white bedroom is a luxurious and ultra-cozy option. To pull off this look, add interest with metallic accessories and a mix of fabric textures.

On the four-poster bed in her ‘mix and match’ West Sussex manor house, Sophie Conran has an antique quilt from Garden House Antiques in Petworth, which specialises in English and American patchwork quilts from 1800 to 1920, and antique English and French textiles. The period print is paired with neutral paint colours from Farrow & Ball – ‘Slipper Satin’ for the walls, and ‘Lamp Room Grey’ on the woodwork.

Colourful notes in the main bedroom of artist and designer Bridie Hall’s home include a painting by Mary Fedden and an orange bedcover, made by Bridie. The moody grey paint is ‘Mercury’ by Fired Earth.

With a characteristic respect for the fabric of this eighteenth-century house in Bath, designer Patrick Williams has carefully transformed it into a welcoming home and B&B. A neutrally decorated playroom is filled with traditional toys, keeping with the immaculate restoration of this property without compromising on fun.

If there’s one thing that makes a bedroom, it’s soft bedding you can see yourself burrowing into. Get that right, then add a striking pendant light and statement nightstand for a look that’s the epitome of effortless style.

Weathered shutters add a touch of shabby chic flair to this cozy gray and white from Décor Gold Designs. It’s easy to work a vintage vibe into even a small bedroom – use an antique chest as a nightstand or footboard, set an old door in place of a headboard, or adorn your walls with framed vintage embroidered handkerchiefs, maps or botanical designs.

Thomas Clifford and his wife Clarissa have risen to the challenge of restoring Ugbrooke Park in Devon, which now has 12 main bedrooms and some charming turret rooms. This bedroom has a four poster bed with beautifully intricate details on its pelmet. The neutral colour of the walls is reflected by the bed dressings.

Light grey walls and a gallery wall above the bed – step inside the elegant bedroom of our location editor. Soft colours carefully combined with playful accessories add character to the space in Lavinia Bolton’s Chelsea flat – an object lesson in unassuming good taste, as well as testament to her own creativity and enterprise.

Most of these rooms are okay, but none of them gave me any idea wse on how to redecorate my room. First of all, every single one f these rooms are way bigger then mine. Second of all, who has that kind of money to buy all that expencive looking furnishing?

@Fay, that is your opinion, of course. I, however, was admiring the variety in the designs, happy that they weren’t all excessively girly, because, of course, that WOULD be stereotypical. There are girls that do like that kind of thing, however, and I thought this list was very good in portraying different styles for different people. You did find TWO that you liked, didn’t you? Each and every one wasn’t meant to suit each and every girl.
