I decided to give the smaller room to my older daughter, Snowflake. My younger daughter, Pumpkin, got the larger room. When my older daughter was younger she had some major issues with the bigger room and wouldn’t even go in that room alone. It was a whole big deal, we had some concerns that some of that may resurface. We also felt that she is at an age where her ‘toys’ are getting smaller and she doesn’t need as much space for her things and room to play on the floor. My younger daughter has quite a few larger toys and still loves plenty of room to play. She got the larger room. Like I said, I’m still not sure we made the right choice, but it is done for now.
These rooms are awesome! Really love the graffiti wall and blackboard wall; I think feature walls really make a room stand out. I have found some brilliant teen bedroom ideas recently, a great range to suit all budgets.
If you are a kind of girly girl, and you love to have your room dominated in pink, but don’t want it to look childish you can add an adult edge by having your focal wall in darker colors and then provide your room with pink stuff . That will give you the pinkish light blue bedroom accessories you want in your room, and it will not look childish at the same time, so you get the best of both worlds.
Lots of kids want a rainbow-bright bedroom, and why not? If your daughter loves color, but not necessarily all pink, keep the floors, the furniture and the walls (other than perhaps one accent wall) neutral, and then go wild on the bedding, small furnishings and accessories. A crazy-bright accent wall mural is another fun touch that works in a child’s space, but is too much for the master bedroom. This adorable room was found on Craft-O-Maniac.
Jewel tones are excellent choices for tween decor since they evoke femininity as well as a sense of glamour. Consider adding touches of gold in an up-to-date manner with satin brass hardware. Much more subdued than polished brass, the satin finish is soft and refined, and works especially well with colors such as purple, green, red and turquoise.
Their rooms are still a huge work in progress. In fact, we did our big trip to IKEA, moved their rooms and then haven’t done anything since. As you will see in the pictures, there is still quite a bit of work to do.
Nestled into sloping topography, the design of this home allows privacy from the street while providing unique vistas throughout the house and to the surrounding hill country and downtown skyline. I have seen this image come up on my Pinterest feed a few times in the past and have always thought I would love to be lying in that bed reading a good book! I love the contrast of black and white and think it’s a clever decision to have the fur on the end of the bed so it warms up the rest of the scheme. The artwork is oversized but not overpowering and I am always drawn to a simple colour palette- in this case it’s black, white and brown with a touch of gold. It’s simple, elegant and beautiful. Different styles of furniture and fabrics find themselves part of a cohesive whole in this room thanks to the choice of colors. A gray rug over hardwood floors gives a homey, comfortable feel and, paired with the matching gray of the walls, creates a neutral base on which to build the rest of the space. The small nook is utilized to its fullest as study space with a framed corkboard that reaches almost the ceiling, providing organization opportunities and the ability to add personal touches in a way that doesn’t feel cluttered. Complementary colors complete the ensemble, with teal and salmon accents abounding, even extending to the pale teal ceiling. A paper flower chandelier tops off the retro chic space, beautifully curated and sure to please any girl.
