This is what was our playroom. I snapped a few shots right before we started moving furniture. I left the mess for you as well. 🙂 If you want to see the playroom at the height of organization (and full of ideas for your own toy storage) you can read my post about Toy Storage: Kid’s Playroom Reorganization.

Does your daughter have princess tastes, but your budget is a little less kingly? No worries, you can easily add pretty touches without spending a fortune. Take a tip from this room found on C Magazine, and adorn a simple bunk bed with lots of colorful tassels. Next, add a collection of fun and colorful throw pillows, and then hang a feather boa on the wall. Voila, the bedroom is ready for your little princess and your bank account is still intact.

Whether your wonderful everyday is soft and romantic, sleek and modern or classic Scandinavian, you’re sure to find bedroom furniture to suit it. We’ve also got lots of beds and bedroom storage to choose from – and bedroom ideas to inspire you when putting all together.

While modern and luxurious design ideas often tell you that you need to have a sitting area, small office, or a king size bed in your bedroom, don’t forget that a bedroom’s main function is to be a place to rest and recharge. And you don’t much to create a beautiful space to do so.

Your first impulse might be to think of the sloped ceiling and cramped space of an attic bedroom as a minus, but instead, embrace it as a plus. When the bed is piled high with quilts, pillows, and shams, and surrounded by simple, yet lovely furnishings as in the adorable country bedroom shown here, the sloped ceiling and limited square footage simply add to the cozy vibe.

Modern bedrooms: Modern bedrooms are characterised by neutral tones of grey, white and black, all serving as simple, base colours. Walls act as a backdrop to abstract patterns and geometric prints. Lines on furniture are clean, incorporating steel bed frames and side tables. Feature walls are covered in straight striped wallpaper designs, while little splashes of vibrant colours here and there inject visual interest. Accessories are minimal when it comes to modern designs. Storage is important, and should merge in well with the design of the room, while maintaining adequate functionality.

There are two ways to organize a small bedroom: You can make it dark and cozy with saturated berry reds or chocolate browns. Or, you can boost daylight with barely dressed windows and a light-bouncing color on the wall, such as cloud white or sunshine yellow. Either way, don’t take a weak approach. You can be bold in a small space without risking too much money or effort.

For the teen that’s great at keeping her space clean, an all-white bedroom is a luxurious and ultra-cozy option. To pull off this look, add interest with metallic accessories and a mix of fabric textures.

Bring a little nature into your room with silk plants, animal statuettes and baskets. Faux succulents require no care but add garden beauty to shelves and windowsills. Glass tabletop terrariums do well in a partially shaded area, like on a desk in front of a window or on a graduated set of shelves against a bedroom wall. Accent the look with country-inspired wall-hangings like longhorns and guitar case shelves. Finalize the theme with a few brightly colored fabric tapestries for a country-inspired bedroom that’s every bit as fresh as the outdoors. Hanging a few of your favorite art pieces is also an excellent way to decorate.

There’s nothing like an in-house retreat to make a child’s room more fun. This girly teepee tent is small enough to include in interior spaces, while still providing ample space for her to sneak away into her own private hideaway. Design by Susie Fougerousse
