The age of your daughter will largely determine what type of décor or theme you should use in the room. With a newborn, you will want to find baby girl nursery room ideas, such as a farm animal or fairy theme, that will be appropriate for many years or that can easily be altered as your daughter grows and her tastes change. Circus design or farm animal themes are good baby room ideas for girls that your daughter will not quickly out grow. They are also both gender neutral themes that can be incorporated into a shared toddler room for girls and boys. For either of these designs, you can paint the walls of the room a neutral color such as pale yellow or blue and then purchase bedding, art, curtains, wall decals, and accessories that are consistent with the theme. Wall decals and pretty girls bedding sets with pink pigs, white ducks, yellow chicks and other barnyard animals are farm-themed accessories that are inexpensive and can be easily removed or altered when your daughter is older and wants to transfer her space into a teenage bedroom.

I love every ideas you have shared over here. The style and design were so perfect and very inspiring. I am so happy I stumbled on your blog because you inspire me a lot. I can apply ideas I learned on my next  home decorating ideas project. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post.

Proof that grown-up taste can co-exist with kids’ rooms? Bodil Blain’s daughter’s bedroom in Bayswater (designed by Fiona Parke) which features a Damien Hirst artwork above the Kelly Wearstler-inspired bed.

Have a small space? This kids’ room designed by Eve Mercier packs a lot of punch. Housed in a petite family home (a former artist’s studio in Chelsea), this multi-purpose room includes a loft bed, two wall-mounted benches that transform into beds (bed-linen is concealed below), and a third, drawer bed (pictured here) which slides out when needed.

i really like this site to get ideas for my bedroom becuase i have just moved into my new house, but the only thing is, is the rooms on the website are really big and my room as not as big as the rooms on your website so it makes it hard for me to find a room that love and that is approriate for my size of the room. i wish my bedroom was as big as these ones so i could do one of these designes. but it is unfortunatly isnt….

Heidi Lightfoot and Steve Gibbons own this modern, colourful Thirties house in rural Hertfordshire. Built in 1936 by the renowned public sector architect Mary Medd, Sewell’s Orchard was apparently unpopular with the locals at the time, who likened its monopitch roof and pared-back design to that of a canning factory. This is not a view shared by Heidi Lightfoot and Steve Gibbons, however, who have lived in and loved the daring modernist property for the past few years.

The twin kids’ bedroom in this architect’s minimal family home is decorated in crisp white with fun splashes of bright colour. Elegant cushions make for a cosy corner on the right, while the kid’s workspace features a rustic wooden stool.

This eclectic yet restful bedroom layers bold paint colours and vintage furniture with pretty, pastel prints. The wallpaper is ‘Birds’ (midnight) by Galbraith & Paul, 89cm wide, £124 a metre, at Tissus d’Hélène.

Soft pastel hues and floral touches against white washed walls create a pretty, spring-like bedroom. The painted decorative iron bench may have been intended for outdoor use but it fits perfectly with the garden-fresh scheme.

How to do stylish modern living in the country? Located on a plot of farmland on the Atlantic coast of Long Island, interior designer Veere Grenney used wood as a dominant note. The local architecture was also a big influence, as displayed in the boarded walls.

Most bedrooms function as living and playing spaces, which means decorating needs to work double-duty. Choose a rich color, like this terra-cotta, and introduce accents in natural tones to keep the room feeling warm and comfortable.

  1. Situated between Marrakesh and the Atlas Mountains, the holiday home of Colefax & Fowler’s Trudi Ballard, is decorated in a combination of English country-house style and traditional Moroccan elements. The site of the house is perfect: down a dirt track or two and into an olive grove, where the house seems almost part of the landscape. At the end of a gravel path is a studded wooden door leading to a shaded walk and then a cool, airy hall through french windows. This bedroom has a pretty delft-blue palette, with an Indian cotton bedspread and plates above the chimneypiece from Fez.
Your first impulse might be to think of the sloped ceiling and cramped space of an attic bedroom as a minus, but instead, embrace it as a plus. When the bed is piled high with quilts, pillows, and shams, and surrounded by simple, yet lovely furnishings as in the adorable country bedroom shown here, the sloped ceiling and limited square footage simply add to the cozy vibe.
