There’s no denying that it’s the wallpaper that makes this room. The pretty, ditzy print used to paper the whole room is combined with classic white furniture and a pale cream carpet to ensure the overall scheme is not too busy.

Thomas Clifford and his wife Clarissa have risen to the challenge of restoring Ugbrooke Park in Devon, which now has 12 main bedrooms and some charming turret rooms. Moody, masculine & deliciously unconventional, Scott Newkirk’s New York bedroom is my idea of the perfect retreat. I love the way he has skilfully coupled a restrained & muted palette with a medley of textural layers from metal & woods to linen, wool & length-upon-length of natural burlap. He has created a surprisingly luxurious getaway which is both atmospheric & calming. Image credit

Curtains screen the bed and add a cosy feel to this spare room in the home of Anne-Marie Midy and Jorge Almada (who own design company Casamidy). Anne-Marie’s grandmother made this quilt, but if you don’t have such a talented grandmother, you can commission Cassandra Ellis to design and make something personal for you. Quilts using Cassandra’s own vintage silks, wools and cottons cost £190 per square metre; quilts combining fabrics of your own – such as dresses, shirts or fabrics picked up on your travels – cost £165 per square metre.

This bedroom is striking to me. It surprises you…such a delicate balance of masculine and feminine. You can’t help but to appreciate the subtle design elements reflected within the context of this modern Asian-inspired scale and colour scheme ~ the mysteriousness of the asymmetrical bookcase, the delicateness in how the objects are placed, and the luxurious feel the dark-on-light furniture gives. I get a sense of warmth but refreshed at the same time. Finally, the artwork chosen seals the sentiment of this overall design composition. Simply put, I love it. Image credit

Floorboards of Baltic pine were laid throughout the first floor of Robin Muir’s house designed by Caroline Holdaway, including this spare bedroom. The room’s vibrant features include a black-and-white striped rug and The Rug Company’s Vivienne Westwood cushion. Similar tongue-and-groove panelling to that on the walls is available from The English Panelling Company.

This is a cute and colourful girl’s room with a nice and comfortable bunk bed. The floral wall paper is beautiful charging the room with positivity. The heart-shaped mirror and the lamp on the side table looks wonderful.
