I love everything about this bedroom. It’s simplicity and minimalistic approach is what’s really appealing.  Those white wooden floorboards are just totally divine and make the room so bright and airy. I just love a room that has white walls and flooring because it is the perfect backdrop for adding colourful accessories. For me it also gives a sense of tranquillity.  Let’s not forget to mention the hanging light bulb, such a beautiful and simple feature. What I am also lusting after is the clothes rail. Having your clothes out on show gives it a feminine touch to your room and feels very Carrie Bradshaw – just to need to make sure to be super tidy! Image credit

A school uniform chair would be a truly special feature for any child or teenager’s room – uniform, sports kit, brownies, cubs, a favourite party dress, any outfit can become an eye-catching piece of furniture with a little imagination. Here, I used a digital fabric design and combined it onto my favourite style of armchair. This would work equally well on any style of chair, sofa or interior furnishing! I think this is a wonderfully quirky design that features a fabulous twist on a special part of your child or teenager’s life, making sure that the memories of their happiest years live on forever… Custom-designed chairs, lampshades, cushions and wallpaper designs are a fantastic edition to any child’s bedroom and provide high quality, extremely comfortable pieces that will make your bedroom design truly unique and memorable.

THANKS for all our sharp photos of moving your 2 girls from 1 shared bedroom to 2… meaning each has her OWN BEDROOM! Like you mentioned, painting walls, decorating & new bedding for both bedrooms later. I like the look of the white IKEA dresser, so clean & simple/modern. A vibrant headboard upholstered in a mix of patterns makes this girl’s room ultra personal. The shape of the headboard and other girls’ bedroom decor shown here speaks to the creative side of your child. A neutral backdrop of soft gray walls allows the cheery fabrics to shine (you can also use girl’s bedroom wallpaper for this project). Keeping other decor simple in solid colors ensures that pieces can last from childhood well into her teen years; just make sure she is a part of the planning so the bedroom continues to reflect her unique personality!

My favourite bedroom has got to be my own. First of all, our ‘Breaking Bad’ style crocheted throw. Doug and I got completely addicted to this piece of TV genius and are convinced it is going to seriously influence Interior Trends for the next decade – the architecture in Albuquerque is so nice: slightly Mexican with a modern ‘edge’. The artwork above the bed is by my husband, Douglas. His work is our pension. The 1980’s style TV in the corner is a reassuring presence, as is the retro gas fire – all perfect for our unique, one off 1970’s house. The wire shelving racks are the perfect place to put books, phones and our industrial style inspection lamps. Image credit

Eye-popping aqua makes a statement in this bedroom as a striking backdrop for crisp white trim and girl’s bedroom accessories. Pops of pink, inspired by the cherry blossom tree painted on the wall, contrast the room’s ultra-colorful walls. Through the white doors, a bright white room awaits with furniture placed to make it the perfect reading nook. Subtle girl’s room themes like this can grow with her into teen years and beyond.

In fact, your small bedroom may be a blessing for a better night’s sleep. The American Sleep Association recommends keeping stimulating activities out of the bedroom. They warn that distractions like TV, internet, and work can disrupt your sleep patterns. So, the less there is to do in your bedroom, the more sleep you set yourself up for. How’s that for smart design?

Using mirrors will add depth and dimension to a small bedroom because of their unique ability to act like additional windows. If there’s room at the end of the bed, use the space to sneak in some extra storage for clothes, shoes, accessories or even school books! These girly metal trunks are one option, but if that’s not your teenage girl’s style, then vintage suitcases or upholstered bench storage are equally stylish and useful!

Shoe horning three children into one bedroom is no mean feat and to pull it off this stylishly is quite a challenge. Three boys inhabit this small room; each has his own super cool platform bed suspended from ropes at differing levels, an individual wall light and artworks adorning their space. A colour palette of earthy grey looks wonderful teamed with natural wood and uplifting warm yellow. Every bed is identically dressed in crisp white linen and highlighted with a textural grey blanket and accented yellow cushion. Each child has an equal portion of the room so sharing should be a joy and not a trial. In fact, I can quite imagine these boys enjoying bed swapping every night! My top tips would be that when furnishing a small room, limit your palette of colours and materials – using too many will visually clutter a room and make it feel much smaller. The adage “less is more” is so true! Also, wall mounting furniture makes a room feel bigger – it’s all about being able to see under and around things that tricks the eye into thinking a space is bigger than it really is. Image Credit

Small bedrooms are often short on storage, so take advantage of every inch of wasted space. Antique dough bowls, large baskets, plastic bins or rolling drawers create easy-to-use extra storage under your bed. A retro Seventies-style wallpaper makes a striking statement in this bedroom. Pick out tones from the wallpaper and choose block-coloured furniture and accessories in those colours – keeping these large pieces simple helps to break up the pattern and avoid a fussy finish. A white-framed mirror and black-and-white fashion print from the same era adds a classic touch.
