Accent the look with country-inspired wall-hangings like longhorns and guitar case shelves. Finalize the theme with a few brightly colored fabric tapestries for a country-inspired bedroom that’s every bit as fresh as the outdoors. Hanging a few of your favorite art pieces is also an excellent way to decorate.

This bedroom ticks a lot of boxes for me with the herringbone floor, contemporary light fitting and soft linen bedding. I always have a soft spot for period properties and the owners of this home have highlighted the gorgeous high ceiling with a dusty pink colour – a bold but highly effective way to add colour into a room without it being overwhelming. Also, by bringing the curtain pole the full width of the wall, the curtains do not cover the window at all – allowing for maximum light and a really luxurious feel with all of that lovely soft fabric. Keep the overall palette calm and soft with different shades of warm grey on the walls, floor and furniture. A burst of yellow on the pillowcases and occasional bedroom chair keep the look vibrant without becoming too much. Embroidered and patterned cushions in black and white are a pretty finishing touch.

Being a teen girl myself, I have to say this is not realistic whatsoever. I don’t know about all the other girls, but I would have liked something WITHOUT having to go out and buy everything new. That’s just my opinion, some of these were great to dream about..but not all of us could afford this.

It’s exciting to open up possibilities with the girls’ dorm inspiration we’ve created with your decorating freedom in mind. Layering your bed with solid color sheeting and a striped comforter in gray or blue creates an inviting bed where you can get some restful sleep. Adding geometric plush pillows in contrasting colors turns your bed or chairs into fun focal points of the room. Bring depth into your dorm room design by placing our peel-and-stick wallpaper in a shiplap design on the walls. Pegboards and caddies offer you a place to keep important memos and information close at hand.

A golden rule of decorating is that you need to have neutral elements (white, or wood) to let the eye rest. Here, the rule is turned upside down, with the simple bed taking a backseat to the more unusual wardrobe, chair and wall art.

These girls bedroom ideas stresses upon extravagant use of singular colour, thus defining the mood and personality of the occupant. Lilac gives a royal inclination to the room. The shear curtain in white dropping down from a hanging lilac flower against a lilac background gives way to an interesting concept. The white furniture looks remarkable and the colour white leaves a serene impact on the atmosphere.

Remember that storage doesn’t necessarily have to be in the bedroom. If you have a corridor near the room consider utilising that as a place to put wardrobes, as designer Philippa Thorpe has in this Chelsea house.

Architect Francesca Oggioni had to set aside her rationalist principles when she was planning a new layout for her listed house in west London, so it would work as a family home, workspace and backdrop for an extensive art collection. What do you do if your aesthetic is Italian modernist but you have just purchased a six-floor Grade II-listed Victorian town house in west London? This was the dilemma that faced Italian architect and interior designer Francesca Oggioni six years ago when she purchased her home with her Belgian husband, a hedge-fund manager, photographer and art collector.

I love the diversity in this post. You can find inspiration for everything – from cosy and snuggly bedrooms to dark and mysterious ones. Especially liked the one with the wall mural, feels like sleeping in the forest, out in the fresh and crisp air. I remember seeing a similar design but with rain clouds. I think natural wall murals bring peace and serenity to the bedroom.

Who wouldn’t wake up full of the joys of spring in this light filled, summery bedroom? If you can’t afford to fill your room with garden flowers don’t worry, the fresh floral textiles and painted white gloss floor (which reflects the natural light) will do the trick alone.

In the main bedroom of Robin Muir’s house, which was designed by Caroline Holdaway, the bedcover is ‘Fig’ from Raoul Textiles; the reverse is used for the cushions. Unpolished floorboards and white walls give this room a pared-back look.

‘The whole time we were working on this house our aim was for things not to match too much,’ says designer David Bentheim of this scheme. Juxtaposing the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, David copied original paneling that remained in an upstairs room, and installed a screen covered in de Gournay fabric behind the thoroughly modern, metal four-poster bed. Concealed within the bespoke white chest at the bed’s foot is a flat-screen television, which is raised and lowered using remote control.

  1. I have a thing about exposed brickwork in the home. Along with floorboards it gives a raw feeling. Love it. This lofty bedroom is light and airy and the sporadically placed furniture makes it a little quirky. The white palette gives a sense of tranquillity and the addition of some playful colours makes it homely and inviting too. Image credit
