This bedroom ticks a lot of boxes for me with the herringbone floor, contemporary light fitting and soft linen bedding. I always have a soft spot for period properties and the owners of this home have highlighted the gorgeous high ceiling with a dusty pink colour – a bold but highly effective way to add colour into a room without it being overwhelming. Also, by bringing the curtain pole the full width of the wall, the curtains do not cover the window at all – allowing for maximum light and a really luxurious feel with all of that lovely soft fabric. To complement your underlying palette, layer complementary colors and patterns on top of that. For example in a grey and white room, try accenting with yellow accessories. For patterns, lean towards stripes, chevron or solids with large geometric shape(s).
We asked and both girls, of course, wanted the larger room. Uh-oh. Now I have to make a tough choice. In the end, I’m not sure I made the right choice, but I think I would probably think that if I had made the opposite ideas for decorating a girls bedroom I just don’t like disappointing my girls.
For a designer-worthy look, choose a simple color palette of three to four neutral hues and a single, bright accent color like the eye-catching pink in this chic bedroom. Add interest with a variety of bold, trendy patterns and cozy textures like cotton, faux fur, knits, etc.
This simple platform bed welcomes guests with cozy organic linens. The natural feel is enhanced by a tree trunk bedside table, lots of natural light streaming through large windows, and a door that leads to the back patio.

When it comes to bedroom decorating ideas, your options are endless. When nailing down your bedroom design, it’s helpful to start by tackling the more permanent things, like furniture. Artwork and photographs that put you at ease are a great addition (although some advise against having family photos around, as they can hinder that “sexy bedroom” vibe), and mirrors are a must-have if you use the space for dressing. When considering bedroom ideas, bedding is always important — your duvet and decorative pillows should play nicely with the paint color and bedroom wall decor, but can also be swapped out easily, which makes it easy to incorporate an interesting print or texture. Lastly, add some accessories to style your nightstand or dresser; just be careful not to go overboard — too many knickknacks can make your room feel cluttered and disorganized, which can actually cause sleep trouble. If you keep these bedroom decorating ideas and color considerations in mind you should be well on your way to creating the perfect bedroom design.
These are some some incredibly creative ideas! I love how these designs make the most of small spaces. Another option is to purchase furniture with multiple purposes. A great choice is a Zoom-Room or Zoom-Desk. Zoom-Room is a 21st century version of the Murphy Bed. It’s a remote controlled retractable Wall Bed that snakes up behind the cabinet instead of folding down, so you can put your flat screen TV or bookshelves in front. The Zoom-Room is customizeable with custom cabinets, home office accessories, finishes, and materials. It combines both function and great design.

My favourite bedroom has got to be my own. First of all, our ‘Breaking Bad’ style crocheted throw. Doug and I got completely addicted to this piece of TV genius and are convinced it is going to seriously influence Interior Trends for the next decade – the architecture in Albuquerque is so nice: slightly Mexican with a modern ‘edge’. The artwork above the bed is by my husband, Douglas. His work is our pension. The 1980’s style TV in the corner is a reassuring presence, as is the retro gas fire – all perfect for our unique, one off 1970’s house. The wire shelving racks are the perfect place to put books, phones and our industrial style inspection lamps. Image credit
Add some sparkle to a princess-themed room with a starry wallpapered ceiling. This room’s blue ceiling, as well as small pops of powder blues, lavender, and bright coral, breaks up a mostly pink color scheme. Statement light fixtures above the bed give extra glamour that can carry into teenage years.
Windows in tween rooms are a great opportunity to experiment with design elements which may be considered too bold or risky for common areas of a home such as living rooms or entryways. Consider large-scale patterns in neutral colors such as black, white and gray. Should a tween girl grow tired of her wall color and decide to change the paint, the window coverings will most likely work well with the updated palette.
By the time you add dressers, nightstands, armoires and a bed, your sleeping space can easily get cramped — this is why figuring out the proper layout is essential to achieving the ideal bedroom design. The ultimate goal is to create a room that provides enough storage, yet still has enough space to move around.
This baby pink rug looks really cute, fluffy and comfortable to walk and sit on, which is perfect for a little girl’s room. The best part is that you can easily make one yourself. Some are more serious; others feature familiar (and popular) pink, orange and red schemes. All of the rooms are practical, featuring workspaces, bookcases or shelving systems, and beautiful cabinets especially designed for teenage girls. Finally, a mirror is a mandatory item in any girl’s bedroom, so you will notice that mirrors have a special status in some of the photos below.
When it comes to luxurious comfort, you can’t beat a padded headboard wrapped in quality fabric. This plush, tufted headboard adorned with rhinestones was made by H-Studio. See the rest of this dream bedroom suite.
Don’t forget to add some life to your space. “There’s no reason houseplants should be kept out of the bedroom—I’ve even used potted indoor trees in small rooms,” he says. “Having something vertical like a fig tree can bring the eye up. Plants can make a stuffy room feel fresh, too.”

A light, airy guest room gets a dose of vintage charm with an antique iron bed and canary prints from a 1951 picture book hung on the wall. Traditional accents keep the space feeling cozy and classic.
I absolutely love this bedroom and it has actually inspired my own bedroom makeover. The bold use of indigo is classy and sophisticated and creates a sleep-inducing atmosphere. Blue is a very calming and soothing colour to use in the bedroom and can aid restful sleep. The use of chunky knits, Damask prints and patterned cushions adds to the cosy feel of this room. To make what was a juvenile, childish girl’s room more appropriate for a growing tween, its walls were painted a deep shade of violet, album cover-inspired art was hung to create a focal point, vintage lighting was installed on the ceilings and the walls, and women’s fashion fabrics were used in upholstered accents.
Soft colors and classic style will keep this girl’s room timeless for years to come. Neutral walls and furniture create a sense of unity and allow patterned bedding and window treatments to be the center of attention. A pattern that isn’t too age-specific allows for her creativity to shine in wall art and painting hung around the room. Lighting treatments are similar with neutral bases and lampshades that can easily be switched out at a low cost.
A teenage girl bedroom would mostly look beautiful and a place to take refuge in when it is given a royal touch. A daughter or in our case here, twin daughters, are princess for their parents. Giving them a room with a royal theme only enhances that bond. Beautifully draped beds and footstools make up a great sleeping area. You can add vintage mirrors along with royal upholstery in the room.
From the soft pink walls to the floral bedding to the girl’s bedroom wall decor, this bedroom embodies everything feminine. The simple look of the tufted bed complements the antique bedside table. Cozy floral fabrics and billowy window treatments look airy and soft with the natural light pouring into the room. Create contrast in this all-pink room with girl’s bedroom accessories, such as this ornate blue rug. The color grounds the room while the intricate details connect to the delicate decor.
I am 13 and have to share a room with my si. She is 19 and we have TOTALLY different styles. So there is just another example of ho people have different tastes. I personally like the second one the thirteenth. My sister however likes the last one. But i do agree most people dont have the space OR money. I think that they should do more realistic and affordable room. Sorry if I sound rude or snobby but that is teh first and surely the last thing that me and my sis agree on
The reason I love this bedroom is due to its refined elegance. The simple colour palette makes for a wonderfully calming master bedroom. The classic Ralph Lauren pinstripe walls serve as the perfect backdrop for the stunning navy upholstered bed, with its many layers of cushions and throws creating a hotel-like feel. From the beautiful symmetry presented through every aspect of this room, to the many sumptuous textures, this bedroom reflects the perfect marriage of classic style with distinctive contemporary touches. For a much more one-of-a-kind and contemporary look, consider a bed with blended products. Blended timber as well as metal headboards in a range of designs are presently quite prominent. These types of beds look fantastic with strong bed linens in addition to geometric patterns. Wood beds can quickly offer a typical appearance or an extra modern look relying on the style and also the accents and bed linen that are used combined with them.
