I am loving this red bedroom when typically I wouldnt. I believe the beige walls and white pillows and other white elements in the room save this from appearing small and dark. That accent wall is really nice.

If you’ve got the square footage for it, aiding productivity can be as easy as including a dedicated workspace in the bedroom. This stylish set of bright whites with pops of pink and blue produces an air of driven focus, while still keeping a cheery, light-hearted vibe. Homework, studying, and research projects beware the powerhouse of teenage initiative that will settle in to pound out assignments at record speed in this gorgeous space. Bookshelves allow for storage of all the learning essentials, and a second, smaller pull-out desk makes it easy to swap between tasks. A comfy chair with fluffy pillows allows for brief respites in between hardcore study sessions.

A sleigh bed, for example, is a preferred conventional style of bed that can be conveniently combined with deluxe bed linens to produce a conventional, classic look in your bedroom. Of course, if you desire an extra modern look you could take into consideration the very same sleigh bed including modern lines and integrated with solid shades, stripes or geometric patterns.

Are Ariel, Cinderella and Belle your daughter’s best friends? Does she love every Disney princess and dream of arriving at a ball in a pumpkin carriage of her own? She’s not alone — the many princesses of Disney have been loved through several generations of girls. What better way to decorate her room than with a full-wall mural of her favorite animated characters? You can hire a muralist to create a one-of-a-kind design, or buy a wallpaper mural that is easy to apply on your own.

When decorating my own home, my furniture picks have been dictated by my shoestring budget. This hasn’t http://tech.asialogue.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ me having big ideas for my bedroom. I’ve just had to be style savvy – picking up vintage finds for next to nothing. I always start with soft grey painted walls, then – my tip – is to paint all my furniture in the same colour so they match – helpful when you are dressing your room with higgledy-piggledy junk shop finds. I’m not adverse to modern designs, in fact I think they are key to stopping a budget home looking to retro or fuddy-duddy. That is why I love statement lighting as it brings a modern twist to an eclectic look.  The best bit about doing up a vintage home is these purchases don’t break the bank, and with a bit of hard work can look amazing. And if you tire of it, you can sell it and buy something new – this suits me down to the ground as my bedroom style is always changing. Image credit

Anna Potter’s bedroom is everything that I look for in a place to sleep.  Warm, calm, welcoming and homely. The dark grey walls and bed linen have a sense of calm, like a gentle hug, welcoming you to bed.  The oversized vintage map above adds a sense of drama and no need for a headboard.  The room is filled with history, a hand-me-down chest of draws, holiday souvenirs, and the owners own artwork on the walls.  A vintage, comfortable and stylish space.  I could sleep there quite happily. Image credit

There’s a few things that are key to how you feel when you walk into your bedroom – mainly it comes down to floors, walls, furniture and decoration. If you’re renting you may not be able to touch the floors or walls and will have to work with what you have. If it’s your own house however, you may be wondering which colour to paint the walls so they go with your floors, or so you can make a small bedroom appear bigger. Pay attention to these elements in the photos.

Make tidying up more fun with pretty fabric storage boxes slotted into a white-painted unit. A large scale wall sticker picks up on the colours of the boxes to turn the storage area into a focal point.

Keep it simple – A double bed is a big ingredient in any bedroom and can dominate the space. Choosing matching bedding in a soft shade helps to reduce its impact. Stick to a very simple mix of bed linen, too: a duvet cover and pillowcases that match will suffice.

I all honesty, I don’t see how this is supposed to help make the most out of a small room. First of all, they just look like normal bedrooms. And anyay, I guess it’s not what I googled for. The reason I was looking for a post on how to maximize on small room space is because right now my bedroom is also my living room is also my office. I live in NY and I am SURE I am not the only person with this sort of living arrangement. Real estate costs. And quite frankly we are paying for every cubic inch of space in a room here in the city, meaning loft beds and over head storage and really anything and everything to maximize on space and provide order to a multi-purpose room. I don’t need to make my small space LOOK bigger. For what? I need it to feel functionally bigger, since I can’t actually have it bigger.

Young adults are hard to please so give them lots of input. Provide plenty of storage so there’s no excuse for mess, and make sure they have a good study area. Invest in a trundle bed for those sleepover parties, and let them keep their favourite accessories on display in mounted box shelves.

We recently updated my 8 year old’s bedroom and Pinterest was a great source of inspiration for me. She has a small room and I wanted to make the most of the space and decorate it in a way that would see her through her pre-teen years. I’m a huge fan of white walls and light spaces that can be brought to life with a splash of colour and styled with a bit of black too – you can’t go wrong with monochrome! This picture inspired me when I was putting her room together. I love that there is a place of everything but it still looks stylish AND lived in. The monochrome styling mixed with the pops of colour and a few kitsch accessories all work so well together. Image Credit

  1. Lighting offers an opportunity to add personality while also introducing different styles and design eras. When it comes to tween girl’s rooms, vintage light fixtures are almost always a sure-fire hit. As retro styles become increasingly popular for tween and teen girls, it’s smart to consider searching local flea markets and thrift stores for fixtures from the 1960s and 1970s. This brass and smoked Lucite chandelier is from the mid-1970s and is considered a modern classic. Should the tween girl grow tired of it, the fixture can be used in another area of the house or, since vintage pieces hold their value, it can be sold online through a vintage consignment mega-site.

I stayed at the Ludlow Hotel in New York’s Lower East Side last October and I instantly fell in love with my room. The stark black four-poster bed was the perfect contrast to whitewashed walls and beams. The industrial black window frames were dressed with heavy patterned pleated silk shades. The massive brass pendant lamp, patterned flat-weave rug, sheepskin throws and deeply veined marble coffee tables accented the decor perfectly. And the view of downtown Manhattan was of course unbeatable. Image credit
