As tween girls become full-fledged teenagers, it’s likely they’ll be using their bedrooms for overnight fun with friends. Add drama and ambiance for nighttime use with vintage wall sconces. Often priced much lower than chandeliers, sconces are installed directly to walls and may need to be rewired prior to installation. To ensure safety, most interior designers recommend dropping off vintage sconces at local lamp repair shops where fixtures can be brought up to code for as little as $25.

You can create a great view by adding several shelves to your wall, and avoid making them all aligned to each other and equal in size, instead, add a large one and then several smaller ones above. That would help create a nice view to your walls, especially if they are colored. These shelves will also give you a nice space on which you can organize your books, artwork, and little girly stuff.

So glad you liked seeing all the pics of their rooms. We do something similar. My girls rotate which day is ‘their day.’ On their day, they get to pick where they sit in the car and a few other things. If we have a tie on something, they get to break the tie. On the second pillow I painted a pretty chevron pattern using blue and pink fabric paint. You basically need only a pillowcase and your creativity for this DIY!

If you’re in the market for a new bed, consider a bed with drawers underneath for extra storage. If space is so limited that drawers may not open easily, use decorative bins under your bed for additional storage. Kids are a great joy of family life, but one thing that can be difficult is decorating a bedroom of someone that grows so quickly before your eyes! I’m really big on gender neutral design and looking at this room, you wouldn’t be able to tell whether or not it belonged to a girl or a boy. It’s so bright and natural with bits of contemporary and Scandinavian design. Little elements like the blackboard, bean bags and lights are used to give the room a warm feeling even though the design is really simple. I love where the bed is placed in the corner by a large window too.  My top tip for decorating kids bedrooms is to maximise storage and to keep things simple, kids change their mind and get bored of a lot of things very quickly, we’ve all been there! Young adults are hard to please so give them lots of input. Provide plenty of storage so there’s no excuse for mess, and make sure they have a good study area. Invest in a trundle bed for those sleepover parties, and let them keep their favourite accessories on display in mounted box shelves.

Another plus is that baskets will complement virtually any design style, so have fun choosing ones that are just right for you. Soft coral and brown? It may be out of imagination, but it turns out so beautiful and girly. Love the patterned wall art above the bed, the black and white lampshade, the “DREAM” decorative letters on the side storage dresser…Who doesn’t want a bedroom like this as a teenage girl? via House of Rose Blog.

Lots of kids want a rainbow-bright bedroom, and why not? If your daughter loves color, but not necessarily all pink, keep the floors, the furniture and the walls (other than perhaps one accent wall) neutral, and then go wild on the bedding, small furnishings and accessories. A crazy-bright accent wall mural is another fun touch that works in a child’s space, but is too much for the master bedroom. This adorable room was found on Craft-O-Maniac.

  1. Consider introducing fun filled low cost novelties such as bean bags in jelly beans colors, bright colored bedding, funky lamps, attractive book stands or holders, vibrant window treatments, photo frames, etc. Alternatively, you may also spruce up things by employing distinct items for decoration such as a guitar, a golf stick, skateboard, old posters, trophies and mementos, artificial plants, etc. Also ensure to spread a bright rug on the floor as it is extremely useful for doing miscellaneous tasks.{pics from decorati, pbteen}.
Of course, the first textiles that spring to mind are the bedding. But don’t just settle for any set. Layer multiple materials — think down, silk and shearling — to create a space that you never want to leave. Then, warm up the rest of the room by putting down a throw rug or adding a blanket to your seating area.
