Resisting the idea of moving or expanding into the basement, the owners of this London house from the 1850s gave architect Maria Speake of Retrouvius the go-ahead to make structural changes to give their family and business the space needed. This children’s bedrooms is flooded with light from both the window and skylight, with neat underbed storage to make the most of the awkward attic space.
personally i think they should be more realistic about the room sizes most kids dont have a room the size of these. and i personally dont like have of these rooms they look to grown up or kinda kidish.
When done right, black wall paint can make a chic statement in your sleep space. The trick? Paint one wall black and leave the others a bright white, then fill your room with colorful decor in fun patterns and textures.
In the main bedroom of Robin Muir’s house, which was designed by Caroline Holdaway, the bedcover is ‘Fig’ from Raoul Textiles; the reverse is used for the cushions. Unpolished floorboards and white walls give this room a pared-back look.

Your children are only young once so create a magical environment with furnishings and accessories that will kick start their imaginations. Curtained cubby hole bunkbeds are also a perfect way to give kids their own space.
A bedroom always reflects the personality of the occupant. The things that describe your personality the most is the wall colours, the bedroom suit and the decoration. ‘One’s own bedroom’ is the favourite corner of the room during the growing years.
Can’t find a headboard you like? Customise. Paint one directly onto the wall, create an upcycled version out of old doors, or simply cover an existing headboard in a new fabric like shown here, adding plenty of pattern throughout the room for a cosy, layered look.
Behind the bed in this circus inspired room by William Yeoward, an Eighteenth-century hand-painted screen from Hollyhock sweetly compliments the bespoke tented cupboard from Clock House Furniture. The William Yeoward grey fruitwood, ‘Aberfoyle’, chest of drawers, ‘Bellingham’ bench, and grey mahogany bed are available at Designers Guild.
The age of your daughter will largely determine what type of décor or theme you should use in the room. With a newborn, you will want to find baby girl nursery room ideas, such as a farm animal or fairy theme, that will be appropriate for many years or that can easily be altered as your daughter grows and her tastes change. Circus design or farm animal themes are good baby room ideas for girls that your daughter will not quickly out grow. They are also both gender neutral themes that can be incorporated into a shared toddler room for girls boys. For either of these designs, you can paint the walls of the room a neutral color such as pale yellow or blue and then purchase bedding, art, curtains, wall decals, and accessories that are consistent with the theme. Wall decals and pretty girls bedding sets with pink pigs, white ducks, yellow chicks and other barnyard animals are farm-themed accessories that are inexpensive and can be easily removed or altered when your daughter is older and wants to transfer her space into a teenage bedroom.
As in their dining room and their upstairs hallway, the faux panelling in the spare room of Tarquin Bilgen and wife Isobel’s Suffolk farmhouse was painted by Alan Dodd. Prints and paintings of mountains, such as the one above the chest of drawers, provide a visual theme. Like the lamp? Vaughan do a similar sang-de-boeuf Chinese ceramic lamp base, £450 and shade, £177.

I’m a 14 year old girl, and I am re-doing my small bedroom. None of these (with the exception of the first one) are realistic or what I’m looking for. I hate the unoriginality of the modern rooms and the pompous air in the others.
