A cosmic chair forms a focal point in this bright and airy girls bedroom in Florida. Glamour, sparkle and romance combine in the accessories, while white walls keep the backdrop crisp and clean. A powder pink accent wall is a super-feminine touch.

Behind the bed in this circus inspired room by William Yeoward, an Eighteenth-century hand-painted screen from Hollyhock sweetly compliments the bespoke tented cupboard from Clock House Furniture. The William Yeoward grey fruitwood, ‘Aberfoyle’, chest of drawers, ‘Bellingham’ bench, and grey mahogany bed are available at Designers Guild.

Bed is chanting my name tonight. Chet is cutting all four back molars and that results in a very tired household. Plus we had to say goodbye to daddy this morning and drive him to the airport at crazy-o-clock Also congratulations to Eve and the

Faringdon House in Oxfordshire was once home to ‘the mad boy’ Lord Berners, the inspiration for Lord Merlin in Nancy Mitford’s The Pursuit of Love. Now in the hands of his descendant Sofka Zinovieff, the character and eccentricity of the home and its history is lovingly preserved.

A lime green and blue colour scheme and a collection of characters, including a line up of sweet stuffed toys and a friendly whale rug, bring this room to life. This corner provides a perfect play spot with some smart storage boxes for kids to dig in and out of.

There are many different steps to decorating a kids room that begin with deciding on a theme and end with choosing what color you wish to adorn the walls with. Obviously you have multiple choices for decorating the walls of your childs bedroom, however the two most popular options are wallpaper and paint. While wallpaper comes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and textures, it tends to be a much more tedious process with more permanent results. Removing it takes a lot of time and effort, and can also damage your walls. Paint, on the other hand, does not take a lot of time to apply and can easily become a do it yourself project. Plus, as cartoon characters and games become more popular, companies are creating paint colors for girls room that are based off of popular kids shows such as Dora the Explorer and toy brands like Fischer Price. Paint a bright pink and purple girls room that has wall decals of Swiper and Boots or choose a more subtle green that is found in the popular baby brand Luv U Zoo.

I agree that these rooms are unrealistic and too perfect. I’m currently trying to re-decorate my room and none of the above were helpful in providing even the slightest inspiration. Most of them are twice the size of my room; and alot of the furniture just wouldn’t fit. If anyone has pictures of rooms that are smaller and something do-able, let me know.

Lighting offers an opportunity to add personality while also introducing different styles and design eras. When it comes to tween girl’s rooms, vintage light fixtures are almost always a sure-fire hit. As retro styles become increasingly popular for tween and teen girls, it’s smart to consider searching local flea markets and thrift stores for fixtures from the 1960s and 1970s. This brass and smoked Lucite chandelier is from the mid-1970s and is considered a modern classic. Should the tween girl grow tired of it, the fixture can be used in another area of the house or, since vintage pieces hold their value, it can be sold online through a vintage consignment mega-site.

A strip of Anatolian silk inspired the palette for this London bedroom; it was used as a feature panel in the curtains and the colours are echoed by the vintage Indian bedcover. Maria Speake’s ability to resuscitate what others might view as detritus is charted in her book Reclaiming Style (Ryland Peters & Small, £19.99).

In fact, your small bedroom may be a blessing for a better night’s sleep. The American Sleep Association recommends keeping stimulating activities out of the bedroom. They warn that distractions like TV, internet, and work can disrupt your sleep patterns. So, the less there is to do in your bedroom, the more sleep you set yourself up for. How’s that for smart design?

Kids’ rooms are meant to be fun, so don’t be afraid to use materials like paper, cardboard (and even a disco ball!) to lend a cheeful, party mood. A sturdy bunk bed anchors the room to still keep the look luxe.

hi i am a 13 year old girl and i would just like to say that although i found loads of gr8 rooms i think that the room sizes are a bit big considering that i and all of my friends have very small bed rooms.

This is my ideal bedroom style, I love the use of soft and subtle tones with small injections of colour such as the yellow used in bedside accessory bowl and the brass used on those gorgeous twin wall lamps. Whilst the room is light, with a large window, the space is warm and welcoming with the help of a plush throw, soft sheets and a complementing headboard to the bed.  Image credit

Jamb director Henry Bickerton has revived a Victorian town house once strewn with pizza boxes with carefully chosen elements of English country-house style. In Henry’s son Archie’s bedroom, the striped wallpaper is from William Yeoward, adding a bright element of fun without compromising on the smart aesthetic of the house.

With a characteristic respect for the fabric of this eighteenth-century house in Bath, designer Patrick Williams has carefully transformed it into a welcoming home and B&B. A neutrally decorated is filled with traditional toys, keeping with the immaculate restoration of this property without compromising on fun.

Don’t be fearful of brights in the bedroom, they can look fantastic, but we suggest keeping strong hues to a feature wall behind the bed and choosing a softer, more calming colour for the rest of the room.

Made famous by the Rothschild family, the hotels Les Fermes de Marie, L’Hotel Mont-Blanc and The Lodge Park – were built by a local family in Haute-Savoie. Jean Louis Sibuet converted the bones of each hotel, and his business partner, Jocelyne, did the interior design. ‘We started with an oppurtunity in a particular place and time, says Jocelyne, ‘when we find somewhere we find it hard to walk away’. The Sibuet’s latest Provencal hotel is Domaine de la Baume, where each room has its own eclectic style including this bedroom that imbues character with yellow Pierre Frey wallpaper.

Deputy decoration director Ruth Sleightholme combines a mid-century English colour palette with Grecian-inspired artwork and furniture to create calm and inviting schemes with quirky details that catch the eye.

The concrete floors and exposed brick painted in white may create a cool warehouse feel but the nonchalantly styled books and pictures, as well as the texured bedding and soft throws keep the scheme from being sterile.

Gray’s sedate vibe makes it especially good for the bedroom. But when decorating with gray, be sure to add plenty of interest to keep the look lovely, not grim. Take a few tips from the gorgeous room from Jean Stephane Beauchamp Design shown here; a strong area rug, an intriguing ceiling fixture, a luxurious velvet upholstered headboard, and a touch of fun in the skull-adorned throw pillow guarantee that this entirely-gray-and-white master bedroom is anything but boring.

In the main bedroom of product designer Anthony Joseph – one half of kitchenware company Joseph & Joseph – mustard textiles were chosen to complement the walls painted in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Mole’s Breath’

Hannah Cecil Gurney’s west London flat is a feast of luxurious colour, texture and pattern – little surprise given that her father founded the handmade wallpaper company de Gournay. In the main bedroom hand-painted silk cushions and a Burmese lamp pick up on the green in the ‘Badminton’ wallpaper from de Gournay, which ‘provides a cocoon of birds and butterflies that makes [Hannah] so happy’. The paper has been antiqued in order to give a tarnsihed effect.

  1. The gentle slope of the ceiling in this room in a water’s-edge cabin at Soho Farmhouse gives the space plenty of character despite the neutral decor. The metal bed frame is the only piece of non-wooden furniture, adding another texture to the room.
When Tom Siebens and Mimi Parsons took the decision to downsize from a large five bedroom terrace to a distinctly more compact space in west London, they enlisted the help of decorator David Bentheim to create a modern, practical scheme. The two bedrooms are both small but ergonomic with floor-to-ceiling cupboards and a distinct colour scheme to add individual personality. Here Gayle Warwick linen in lime green provides punch.
This green, cream and black bedroom features ruched blinds, which are shaking off their Eighties associations and making a comeback. Some rooms require a relaxed edge and these provide that softness. This one is in ‘Sophie’ from Borderline, £76 a metre – a simple linen print that looks charming and not at all like a Viennetta.
Oversize letters are scattered throughout interior designer Monica Damonte’s home near Genoa, Italy. Each one represents a different family member’s initial. The Mint List is a good source for vintage letters, with prices around £100 each.
