Give a country cottage bedroom a wash of white paint and their odd angles characterful corners come in to their own. A Jacob’s ladder accentuates the double-height proportions of a spare room at Slackwood Farm in Lancashire.

Four-poster beds with pale pink bedding and ‘Mistletoe’ muslin create the perfect country bedroom. Being well-versed in decorating country homes, Fiona Shelburne knew she wanted to turn this Hampshire house into a family-orientated home. She used an English country-house style with a contemporary twist to create a cosy family space. The twin four-poster beds follow this traditional style while adding height to the room. The ‘Mistletoe’ muslin from Simon Playle adds light and playfulness to the space; the curtains are in ‘Delphos Aqua’ from Jane Churchill.
My recipe for a cool children’s bedroom involves 3 main ingredients: great storage, blackboard paint and amazing lights. I love room because it works just as well for girls as it does for boys. The rock star/monochrome theme is always age appropriate – very important because in my experience kids grow. Fast! The hip industrial vibe is den-like and softened with tactile furs, comforting checks and a cosy rug. Extra twinkling lights at ceiling height add a bit of fairytale magic and nobody grows out of sleeping under the stars, right? On the other side of this room I’d install a bank of full height cupboards to hide all the cargo that comes with every child and also has a habit of growing with them. Mini rock stars might prefer a cabin bed or bunks and some extra spots and stripes in the form of soft furnishings would provide the X factor for me. Image Credit

The main bedroom in designer Paul de Zwart’s Kensal Rise home cleverly combines decorative details with storage; a chest of drawers built into the alcove is made from the same material as the wall cladding. The two ‘Leggera’ chairs from Giò Ponti add colour.
You can paint the ceiling in any bedroom, of course, but it’s an especially fun touch for a child’s bedroom. This girl’s room, found on JWS Interiors, is a pretty space filled with great touches like the chandelier, hanging chair, and shaggy rug, but it’s the circus-tent stripes on the ceiling that really kick up the whimsy.
We want to hibernate for the winter in this gorgeous room. A mix of untreated wood, chunky knits and fabulous fake-fur throws cosy up the space, while jewel-toned accessories add a contemporary but warming touch.
all these rooms are SUPER cool. Awesome creativity! But next time, it’d be great if maybe you guys could design a room thats, well, more affordable looking/ realistic. I mean, c’mon, we’re teenagers who dont really have THAT much extra cash on hand to use on hand haha. And maybe ‘simpler’ room sizes. The loft one is super cool, but its not like everyone has a loft in their room. . . . awesome ideas though!
The main bedroom of Charles Rutherfoord and Rupert Tyler’s London home is on the first floor. The minamilist space features little else but a bed, a deer hide rug, a taxidermy jaguar and an armchair by Pierre Paulin. Single-pane windows make the most of the garden views.
