A sleigh bed, for example, is a preferred conventional style of bed that can be conveniently combined with deluxe bed linens to produce a conventional, classic look in your bedroom. Of course, if you desire an extra modern look you could take into consideration the very same sleigh bed including modern lines and integrated with solid shades, stripes or geometric patterns.
Even a small space can have an airy, open vibe when your palette is mostly white with just one cheery accent color. Notice how easy it is to mix patterns when they share the same two colors; the striped rug, small floral comforter, and larger floral sheets don’t feel busy or overwhelming even though the room is very small.

Listen. I’m seventeen and frankly I don’t know anyone my age who’d actually like one of these rooms (no offense). They all just seem so busy and cluttered. I admit, the loft is totally awesome and having a bathroom in my room would be a dream come true, but next time, try designing something more simplier. That way the teen can decorate it with things THEY like. Sorry for the harsh criticism. ?
I’m really into using dark colours in the bedroom. It creates such an intimate vibe and I find it incredibly relaxing, plus it’s super sophisticated and very glamorous! The designer did a great job in creating a room that incorporates beautiful traditional elements like the panelling and mouldings, but brings it up to date with bold lighting and metallics. To make this room more ‘me’ I’d add a few more POP art elements, calm accent colours and a bit of street chic with the accessories. Image credit

Now this pillow isn’t nearly quite as simple. In fact, it is probably a lot of work to make and either glue or sew all these pink ruffles. It makes for a gorgeously detailed decorative throw pillow though. thegirlinspired.

Far from stark and uninspiring, stripped back wooden floors and plain white walls are the epitome of classic Scandinavian interior design. A personal favourite of mine, there is nothing more relaxing than natural light, contrasting textures and a hint of colour popping through in features such as the statement mint wood burner found in this Scandinavian haven. Simple changes make this interior’s style easy to achieve – think fur throws thrown over white bedding, painted floors with warmth added through sheepskin rugs, a series of monochrome finishes including framed typography prints and industrial elements such as this oversized light juxtaposed with untouched wood finishes found throughout. Anyone who has ever lived in a major city has probably had their share of small-bedroom woes. (Why is it that the room expected to hold the largest piece of furniture is often one of the tiniest?) It may seem like your options are confined to squeezing in a bed and—if you’re lucky—a nightstand, but there are ways to pack plenty of style into your limited space. Also, don’t overlook the benefits. “I actually prefer smaller bedrooms to larger ones,” says Portland, Oregon, designer Max Humphrey, whose own bedroom is on the small side. “They’re cozier and you don’t have to waste money furnishing a room with a seating area no one will ever use.” If you’re ready to embrace your small bedroom, check out Humphrey’s tips for making the most of it.
