If you’re searching for teen bedroom ideas, think about what your teen loves and see their bedroom through their perspective. A teenager has a different view of a bedroom than an adult — beyond a place to sleep, it’s where a teen escapes from the world of demands and rules.

A retro Seventies-style wallpaper makes a striking statement in this bedroom. Pick out tones from the wallpaper and choose block-coloured furniture and accessories in those colours – keeping these large pieces simple helps to break up the pattern and avoid a fussy finish. A white-framed mirror and black-and-white fashion print from the same era adds a classic touch.

Far from stark and uninspiring, stripped back wooden floors and plain white walls are the epitome of classic Scandinavian interior design. A personal favourite of mine, there is nothing more relaxing than natural light, contrasting textures and a hint of colour popping through in features such as the statement mint wood burner found in this Scandinavian haven. Simple changes make this interior’s style easy to achieve – think fur throws thrown over white bedding, painted floors with warmth added through sheepskin rugs, a series of monochrome finishes including framed typography prints and industrial elements such as this oversized light juxtaposed with untouched wood finishes found throughout. The choice of bed in a girl’s room could normally aid to create the focal point for the space. When choosing a bed, it is typically best to consider a bed as well as head board that can grow with the youngster. There are a variety of means to do this. A canopy bed, for example, can conveniently be equipped with soft draperies that are ideal for a more youthful girl and afterwards updated with something elder as she gets older. Twin head boards, consisting of timber headboards and also functioned iron head boards, are additionally examples of furnishing pieces that could grow with the age of the youngster when incorporated with age ideal bed linen choices.

I love this luxurious bedroom designed for a colour blind client. The careful mix of pattern and texture maximises the visual impact he gets from it, without being overwhelming for anyone else. It’s a large, bright space that could take a lot of colour without looking busy, and can easily absorb big pieces (the bed is actually a super king). The walk-in wardrobe has a to-die-for amount of storage in addition to the 3 massive wardrobes alongside the bed, which allows for everything to be put away and hidden, so that you can  enjoy the bright colours and still have a tranquil space to escape to. Deep jewel tones, such as the turquoise Porta Romana Thread lamps,  and matt metallics allow the scheme to be both rich and restful. The style is very much that of a small boutique hotel – creative and encouraging. It’s not a room you go to to unwind and declutter your mind – it’s an exciting destination in itself. Every texture is interesting,  inviting and playful. The Stark carpet is wonderfully soft under food, and the silk bed throw from Soak and Sleep has a luxurious and subtle sheen to it. Image credit

My belief is that a bedroom should be clean and simple. We spend so much time in our bedrooms trying to unwind from the day. That’s why we should create a serene space for ourselves. This bedroom is both serene and cool. The black and white palette proves that you don’t have to have a lot of colour to stand out. Image credit

Teens love spending time in their rooms because they feel safe and comfortable. Naturally drawn to feel-good fabrics and textures, be sure to add some touchy-feely elements in a room. Some ideas include:

If you are going to opt for minimalism in only one room in your house, that room should be the bedroom.  No distractions for relaxation and a perfect nights sleep.  Although this white bedroom scheme is definitely minimalist, I like the fact it has warmth due to the herringbone floor and interest added with the contemporary four poster.  The simple bedding looks luxurious too and I would be more than happy to take a nap between those sheets. Image credit

It doesn’t take much to set an exotic style, so a small room is perfect for a global look like the Moroccan showstopper here. Just three elements – the silver pendants, the silver pouf, and the fantastic bed – are all it takes. If none of those are within your reach, consider adding an exotic throw pillow or two to your bed.

When it comes to feng shui bedrooms, a free-flowing layout is crucial. The ideal placement for your bed is as far away from the door as possible, but still in a position that lets you see the entrance; usually, the corner diagonally across from the door is the best spot. Try and avoid having your head under a window due to the ebb and flow of energy going in and out; this causes disturbed and interrupted sleep. Do not position your bed so as to have your feet point out the door while you’re sleeping; this is called the “Death Position” as the deceased are carried out feet first, and sleeping this way is said to drain your life force.

You’re not limited to digital wall clock for girls bedroom or neutrals when it comes to the wall color of a small bedroom. “I don’t buy into that whole ‘Never paint a small room a dark color’ design dogma,” says Humphrey. “I say embrace the size and moodiness of a small room and even play into it. Painting a room a charcoal gray or navy blue or olive green can be chic and sexy.”

It is a common belief that most girls are quite attracted to the color pink. So if you are thinking of decorating the room for your twin girls, you may want to include the color pink wherever possible. The floor carpet and the bed covers can be matched. You could also use a different, probably a lighter shade of pink for the walls and furniture. To add a bit of color, you may add white or something contrasting such as green. Adding polka dots in design on pillow covers or the rug may add an elegant edge to your twin teenage girls bedroom.

There are many different steps to decorating a kids room that begin with deciding on a theme and end with choosing what color you wish to adorn the walls with. Obviously you have multiple choices for decorating the walls of your childs bedroom, however the two most popular options are wallpaper and paint. While wallpaper comes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and textures, it tends to be a much more tedious process with more permanent results. Removing it takes a lot of time and effort, and can also damage your walls. Paint, on the other hand, does not take a lot of time to apply and can easily become a do it yourself project. Plus, as cartoon characters and games become more popular, companies are creating paint colors for girls room that are based off of popular kids shows such as Dora the Explorer and toy brands like Fischer Price. Paint a bright pink and purple girls room that has wall decals of Swiper and Boots or choose a more subtle green that is found in the popular baby brand Luv U Zoo.

Small bedrooms are often short on storage, so take advantage of every inch of wasted space. To create a (literal) statement piece, larger than life letters like these brilliant burnished brass creations immediately draw the eye. Paired with natural elements like a faux bird’s nest and flower wreath, the juxtaposition of man-made metallics and earthy organics produces an interesting dynamic that’s extremely pleasing to look at. Hung over a dresser, the curious clash of opposing aspects makes for a charming and attractive focal point. Top the dresser with more metallics and natural pieces, like this tree trunk stand and simple silver alarm clock, to further perpetuate the aesthetic.

I adore white painted walls and then really experimenting with pattern and colour in the soft furnishings and bedroom accessories. Floral patterns are always a favourite of mine for a feminine look and the brighter the colours the better. The informal group of pretty postcards fixed with washi tape is super cute and I like being able to easily change the display to suit my mood and the season. The look is a little bit granny chic so suits my love of hunting for eclectic items in charity shops. Even on a dull day this bedroom would cheer me up. Image credit

While modern and luxurious design ideas often tell you that you need to have a sitting area, small office, or a king size bed in your bedroom, don’t forget that a bedroom’s main function is to be a place to rest and recharge. And you don’t much to create a beautiful space to do so.

This bedroom is striking to me. It surprises you…such a delicate balance of masculine and feminine. You can’t help but to appreciate the subtle design elements reflected within the context of this modern Asian-inspired scale and colour scheme ~ the mysteriousness of the asymmetrical bookcase, the delicateness in how the objects are placed, and the luxurious feel the dark-on-light furniture gives. I get a sense of warmth but refreshed at the same time. Finally, the artwork chosen seals the sentiment of this overall design composition. Simply put, I love it. Image credit

Her closet still has the curtains on it like we had for the playroom. We had to modify the shelving in the closet to fit clothes as we had built it for a playroom. We used a Rubbermaid closet system that can be easily modified because it has tracks in the walls. You can see what the closet looked like before in my playroom reorganization post. It has detailed pics for you. It cost just a few dollars to change out her closet to hold her clothes and still hold some toys and some homeschool supplies.

  1. Even if your bedroom is small, it’s still possible to create an interesting space. This is why I love this image, as the headboard on the bed is unique and fun, and creates a real focal point. It’s a DIY project that simply needs some panels of wood and a jigsaw to cut the shape. I love how they’ve added washi tape and some images to it – meaning you can add personality, and can easily change these as the mood takes you. They’ve tied the look together subtly with the neon pink touches, but keeping the rest of the colour palette simple. Image credit
Keep yourself on track each day with a cool alarm or wall clock in your room. Match the colors of your clock to the colors in your bedding to instantly tie the entire room together. Or, pick a silver, white, black or gold clock to give your room a jeweled appearance. Set out a mini-fridge near your study zone, and you’ve instantly created a cozy learning corner that will encourage you to keep studying.
Even a small space can have an airy, open vibe when your palette is mostly white with just one cheery accent color. Notice how easy it is to mix patterns when they share the same two colors; the striped rug, small floral comforter, and larger floral sheets don’t feel busy or overwhelming even though the room is very small.
While adults prefer a space that’s calm and understated, teens appreciate vibrantly colored, high energy rooms. The wall is the biggest area you can work with in a bedroom. Some of the best teen bedroom ideas involve the walls. Here are our favorite:
