Like many a family home, there are conflicting tastes present in the home of Anne-Marie Midy and Jorge Almada, furniture designers and owners of Casamidy. For starters, the two prefer different materials – Anne-Marie likes metal, while Jorge loves leather – but the two have created a home with a uniformity of spirit while still reflecting their personal tastes. In the master bedroom, the hand forged iron ‘Diego bed’ by Anne-Marie takes centre-stage.

Typically when your daughter becomes a teenager she will no longer want to have her room filled with pictures of fairies, stuffed animals, or princess decorations. Instead she will begin looking for sophisticated teenage girl room ideas and designs so she can revamp her space with more mature décor. Whether it be new bedding, a fresh coat of paint, or even updated furniture, redecorating can become costly so you may want to look for cheap room ideas for teenagers. For example, painting old furniture yourself is a quick, inexpensive, and easy way to create a new and custom look. Paint the furniture a rustic pink color and then distress it to create an elegant and vintage look that is very popular among new 2017 bedroom design trends. Other fads for a tween bedroom include bright colors, geometric wall art, and modern furniture pieces. Storage space is an essential component of all teen girl room decoration so make sure to look for shelving units, trunks, and dressers. Stylist Alexander Breeze’s bedroom is painting in a very matt yet rich grey-green: ‘Olive’ by Farrow & Ball. He bought an inexpensive bed and painted it himself. The striking plywood headboard was designed by Breeze and made with the help of bespoke laser cutting service Cut Laser Cut.

This is a bedroom we designed for Jaeden. It’s my favourite because it was transformed from a dull, and dark room to a bright, fresh and fun space! The room has subtle educational elements such as coloured 3D numbers and the hexagonal shaped shelving. During installation, Jaeden who was 3 at the time, learnt what a hexagon was. The book ledges are great for easy access to his books. He was fascinated by the monkeys which hung over his bed and referred to them as ‘monkeys jumping on the bed’. The room is practical with a trundle bed for future sleepovers. It has the quirky Kartell Componibili storage which acts as a bedside table. The walls are a neutral blue/grey that creates the perfect canvas for the pops of colour or allows for an easy makeover by changing the soft furnishings.

Creating a cosy play area in the corner of the room is easy. All that’s needed is a heavy pile rug and plenty of cushions – we love the mix of neutrals and brights here. The modular shelving and lighting further delineate the area from the rest of the room.

This scheme was put together by House & Garden’s Ruth Sleightholme. The Modern Scandinavian bedroom is complemented with this walnut bed, ‘Companions’, by Ilse Crawford for De La Espada, 110 x 215 x 200cm, £4,386, at The Conran Shop.

If you’re considering florals but don’t want an overly feminine scheme, here’s your inspiration: a fresh print combined with contemporary accessories in strong yellow and hues. The base of whites and greys keeps it sophisticated too.

This twin bedroom is a guest room in a Carribean bamboo house. The bamboo, a traditional building material in the Grenadines, came from nearby Saint Vincent, where it is always harvested when the moon is on the wane. The belief is that termites quickly devour any bamboo cut when the sap is rising, even once the wood is cured.

We want to hibernate for the winter in this gorgeous room. A mix of untreated wood, chunky knits and fabulous fake-fur throws cosy up the space, while jewel-toned accessories add a contemporary but warming touch.

A shining example of how to do ‘kids’ room coastal’. Classic by the sea style is still used: the wall panneling, touches of white and wicker baskets, but the addition of turquoise and the unique painted furniture give it a younger, fun feel.

I actuallly really like these rooms, there really neat. But in case you havn’t noticed alot of teen girls(or at least the ones i know), aren’t exactly up there on the money scale. i mean there not broke, but they cant go buy stuff like this for an affordable price. And usually the ones who can, well they dont use the internet for there bedroom ideas. They probably use the months top teen room magazine or somthing like that.lol I’m just saying, the girls that actually use this site for ideas probably wouldnt be able to use this stuff. Maybey a more realistic list of teen room would be better for our use. Besides real talent is making your room look amazing with a small bugdet. Being creative!

Designer Kit Kemp is the queen of combining bold colour and pattern with a finesse that never looks overdone. In this room in the Ham Yard hotel deep blue walls are lifted by an upholstered gabled headboard and matching curtains. The polka dot print on the cushions is echoed in the chair, while the striped ottoman at the foot of the bed pulls in the white of the bedspread and balances the scheme.

I love this bedroom – it was one of the first I designed and the brief was to create an elegant and serene sanctuary. The soft Cornforth White walls combined with the decadent wallpaper by Tapet Café really do complement one another and create a very soothing mood. The Vogue print adds the perfect ‘pop’ of colour and the large mirror reflects a lot of light into the space. The chandelier by Verner Panton completes the look and adds decadence. Image credit

Born in America, interior designer Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay started her working life in New York, cutting her visual teeth as a fashion stylist on Elle magazine, before becoming art director for some of Manhattan’s most celebrated retailers, including Bergdorf Goodman and Bloomingdale’s. Her stylist’s eye has remained one of her undoubted assets, giving her the confidence to compose sophisticated medleys of pattern, colour and texture. ‘In this house, we definitely went maximalist,’ she says. ‘We used layer upon layer.’ The wallpapers are ‘Clouds Sonic’ by Aimée Wilder and ‘Tile’ by Cole & Son, while the ‘Libra’ zodiac cushion is from Jonathan Adler.

Citrusy bright, full of cheerful touches, and almost tropical in its sunshiny intensity, here’s a super-colorful bedroom from Lucy and Company that gets everything right: cute wallpaper, well-loved stuffed animals, a cheery throw blanket that ties the color scheme together, and more fun touches in the Roman shade, retro silver bookcase, and glass lamps. But it’s the lime green, sunny yellow, and fuchsia pink palette that steals the show. It’s hard to find a better color combo for a little girl’s…MORE bedroom.

Even a small space can have an airy, open vibe when your palette is mostly white with just one cheery accent color. Notice how easy it is to mix patterns when they share the same two colors; the striped rug, small floral comforter, and larger floral sheets don’t feel busy or overwhelming even though the room is very small.

This design scheme is all about sumputous colour and texture. Soft pinks and rich raspberry reds are combined with a heavy piled rug, plentiful cushions and throws, plus a drape above the bed. The result is glamorous and very inviting.

This is one of those super easy projects to do at home that you wish you had thought of doing much sooner. So creative, so clever!

Decoration in a bedroom boils down to a few key elements: pick a theme, add interesting accents and a dash of contrast. In this case, the contrast comes from the more masculine chrome touches and button-detail cushion.
