Architect Francesca Oggioni had to set aside her rationalist principles when she was planning a new layout for her listed house in west London, so it would work as a family home, workspace and backdrop for an extensive art collection. This spare bedroom on the top floor has neutral decoration allows the artwork to be the focus of the room.
The key to creating a cosy space? Three words: layering, layering, layering. Whether it’s pattern, colour or texture (all three is even better) more is more. To keep it from looking messy, make sure to repeat colours throughout the room and ensure there’s plenty of solid colour to break up the scheme.
Stylist Alexander Breeze’s bedroom is painting in a very matt yet rich grey-green: ‘Olive’ by Farrow & Ball. He bought an inexpensive bed and painted it himself. The striking plywood headboard was designed by Breeze and made with the help of bespoke laser cutting service Cut Laser Cut.
We think this bedroom could only be found in a British home. The mass of cuddly toys, the traditional pictures, the combination of ornaments – it has a charming eccentricity about it that is so in keeping with British style.
An eclectic mix of styles doesn’t have to take up much room – in fact, sometimes a small space really highlights a wonderful blend of décor. This tiny bedroom, for example, combines Asian, retro, and rustic touches for a result that’s huge in personality and style. Another great tip for a small master bedroom: instead of bedside lamps, save space with pendant lights.

For a designer-worthy look, choose a simple color palette of three to four neutral hues and a single, bright accent color like the eye-catching pink in this chic bedroom. Add interest with a variety of bold, trendy patterns and cozy textures like cotton, faux fur, knits, etc.
‘We needed somewhere we could live and work, with undeveloped buildings in which we could photograph catalogues, and with land for animals and a potential for a garden,’ says Matthew. They found the rundown farmhouse, Ham Court, which had once been the gatehouse to Bampton Castle. The property, on the edge of Bampton village and surrounded by 30 acres of land, provided them with an irresistible opportunity to breathe romance back into a series of neglected and derelict buildings.

Designer Paolo Moschino commissioned painter Dawn Reader to create the stripes on the walls here. She custom-mixed the blue to match Paolo Moschino for Nicholas Haslam’s ‘Melba Stripe’ fabric in the blue on ecru colourway, but Edward Bulmer’s ‘Fair Blue’ natural paint is similar; £41.50 for a 2.5-litre pot of emulsion.

The owner of this Kensington apartment is Sofia Barattieri di San Pietro, who conceived and masterminded upmarket fashion website Motilo. She wanted to create a glamorous, ‘international’ look with an art-deco flavour in her home, which she achieved with the shared vision and cultural understanding of interior designer Paolo Moschino (they are both Italian). The main bedroom is decorated mainly in cream and white, with brass accents in the bedside tables and the Fifties lamps by Maison Charles; the print above the bed is by Gary Hume. The adjoining bathroom is furnished in a similar cream and brass scheme; ‘I am so tired of chrome,’ Paolo explains.
An architecturally significant building from the Fifties by Victor Gruen (the architect who invented the shopping mall), the owners wanted to retain the period character by filling it with classic mid-century pieces. ‘These houses are often furnished with Eames and Mies ven der Rohe, which is just too obvious. While the house, and the furniture I have used in it are historical, I never want the space to feel like a museum,’ he says. ‘I want to stay true to the period, but reframe it for today; the mood now is fresher, softer, more subtle and subdued.’
Thanks for sharing these wonderful ideas to decorate our bedroom with amazing designed furniture. sometimes we have attractive furniture but not that ideas that how can we decorate our room. your ideas are really very useful in such type of situations.
Why I love this room: I’m a great believer in the ‘tidy home, tidy mind’ ethos, which is why I feel so at home with light, minimal spaces. This bedroom has only essential furniture in it and bright white walls to make the most of the light. Texture is key, from the bedding and rugs to the Z1 cotton lamp. I love the use of the small potted plants here, adding life and a splash of vibrant green to the room. The light wood flooring breaks up the white to introduce some warmth and the suspended clothes rails make a statement without the need to take up floor space. Image credit
This bedroom has made us very excited about the UK store opening of Aussie homeware and lifestyle brand Sheridan. Head to the Kings Road flagship store ASAP and snap up this gorgeous Leander wild flowers bed linen.
I love how Martyn Lawrence Bullard combines vibrant colours with serenity and calm in this bedroom; a perfect setting for colour lovers, who want to wind down in a relaxed setting after a hard day’s work. The different textures, such as the fur throw and carpet provide a great contrast to the mirrored bedside tables, which makes the room dynamic and interesting. I also love the ethnic element (Ikat cushions) combined with the ‘Modern Glamour’ style, which gives the room a new dimension. And how great is the coffee table at the end of the bed? I don’t like bedside tables, that are full of books and magazines, so this provides a great stage option that prevents cluttering the room and at the same time looks great! Image credit
Thanks to a bold color scheme of violet, black, white and gold, this designer-caliber tween girl’s room is as appealing to the tween herself as it is to her young parents. Like many a family home, there are conflicting tastes present in the home of Anne-Marie Midy and Jorge Almada, furniture designers and owners of Casamidy. For starters, the two prefer different materials – Anne-Marie likes metal, while Jorge loves leather – but the two have created a home with a uniformity of spirit while still reflecting their personal tastes. In the master bedroom, the hand forged iron ‘Diego bed’ by Anne-Marie takes centre-stage.
Typically when your daughter becomes a teenager she will no longer want to have her room filled with pictures of fairies, stuffed animals, or princess decorations. Instead she will begin looking for sophisticated teenage girl room ideas and designs so she can revamp her space with more mature décor. Whether it be new bedding, a fresh coat of paint, or even updated furniture, redecorating can become costly so you may want to look for cheap room ideas for teenagers. For example, painting old furniture yourself is a quick, inexpensive, and easy way to create a new and custom look. Paint the furniture a rustic pink color and then distress it to create an elegant and vintage look that is very popular among new 2017 bedroom design trends. Other fads for a tween bedroom include bright colors, geometric wall art, and modern furniture pieces. Storage space is an essential component of all teen girl room decoration so make sure to look for shelving units, trunks, and dressers. Artfully display classic toys to soften the look of a neutral room and add soft furnishings such as small armchairs to delineate a play space. Create useful additional storage by adding shelves to a redundant fireplace.
