Placing your bed at an angle, mirrors on wardrobes and cupboards and built in wardrobes, are some small bedroom ideas you can implement.

In a spare room at a Belgian art collector’s London home by Feddy van Zevenbergen, the headboard is covered in a Jane Shelton fabric. The panelling was too damaged to restore, so Freddy lined the walls with a dark herringbone cashmere, which contrasts with the pale Italian marble of the bathroom behind.

Wallpaper tends to get a bad rap for making rooms look small and cluttered, but using the right style and technique does just the opposite. Add a bold wallpaper pattern to a focal wall, like your headboard wall.

I have chosen this image because, as a Mum of 3-year-old boy and girl twins, this is such a great example of how to style a shared bedroom. Not only do the colours complement each other so well, but the room looks matched, even though it is for both sexes. The shelving is perfect for storing toys and books, and they can accessorize it with their own items. I am drawn to the simplicity of the design, and contemporary style especially as we now live in a modern new build home. My tips for styling a twins’ shared room is to keep it simple, use colour schemes that complement each other and involve the children in the process – as they usually like to have a say in what they prefer! I adore these room ideas for young girls. Some are for a little younger girl but my favorite has to be the one with the Audrey Hepburn picture on the wall. Its trendy, flirty, and girly. These ideas are so different I could see many personalities being able to shine through with them.

Next, think about what mood you want to evoke. Do you have trouble sleeping? Maybe opt for a calming blue. Do you want to set the mood for romance with your partner? Fuller, darker colours may be a better match then. Consider if you want to have a TV in your bedroom. If yes, do you want it on display or hidden? Or maybe you want to have a little office within your bedroom? You may be better off styling with neutral colours, but putting emphasis on the right inspiring artwork. In that case, you may also need to think of smart storage solutions so you can keep your workspace tidy and not let it interfere with your sleep. Have a browse through our images to get a feel for what appeals to you, and don’t forget to pay attention to lighting as well.

In the London apartment of Venetian designer Alvise Orsini, ricepaper has been painted to match two eighteenth-century Chinese wall panels found at auction. ‘It is impossible to tell the difference,’ he says. The gilded bed, possibly by Georges Jacob (1739-1814) was found in Paris, while the eighteenth-century velvet bedcover, embroidered with gold thread, was acquired at a Christie’s textiles auction.

Create a bright and fun girl’s room by combining green and white paintwork with pink accessories and floral motifs. The extendable pine bed has been painted to create country charm, while Cath Kidston soft furnishings complete the girly look.

Now, isn’t this cosy? The key to a cream scheme: texture, texture, texture. Make a bed in a mix of crisp cotton, soft knits and faux fur. Add some wood elements and top with the perfect pendant light.

Very informative article. I highly suggest you check out this. With a few straightforward and practical design changes, you can create extra space or at least an illusion of it in your smaller living space.

In a west London industrial mews house owned by designer Caroline Riddell, the main bedroom has a neutral palette of panelled wood walls with splashes of yellow, creating a bright, sunny space. Open-plan living is made cosy with warm touches to this family home and office.

This bedroom in Soho Farmhouse features wood panelling. Mixing bare wood with white painted panels gives the room texture as well as a rustic feel. The pale scheme includes framed prints and large rugs.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful ideas to decorate our bedroom with amazing designed furniture. sometimes we have attractive furniture but not that ideas that how can we decorate our room. your ideas are really very useful in such type of situations.

Even when the day is pure chaos, your bedroom is the one place where you should always be able to go and regroup — no kids, no electronics (although they usually find a way to force themselves in anyway). Still, you can at least give yourself home court advantage by choosing decor you love. These easy, inexpensive ideas should be a good start…

In the spare bedroom of Caroline Holdaway’s cottage, an olive-stripe flatweave rug from Sinclair Till contrasts with a vibrant tartan rug from Toast used as a bedspread and cushions made from fabric pieces left over from projects.

Looking for a sophisticated palette that manages to be both masculine and glamorous at the same time? Then consider the combination of chocolate brown and white. Amp it up further with a small chandelier, a patterned rug and white bedding, and the result is pure splendor.

An architecturally significant building from the Fifties by Victor Gruen (the architect who invented the shopping mall), the owners wanted to retain the period character by filling it with classic mid-century pieces. ‘These houses are often furnished with Eames and Mies ven der Rohe, which is just too obvious. While the house, and the furniture I have used in it are historical, I never want the space to feel like a museum,’ he says. ‘I want to stay true to the period, but reframe it for today; the mood now is fresher, softer, more subtle and subdued.’

The concrete floors and exposed brick painted in white may create a cool warehouse feel but the nonchalantly styled books and pictures, as well as the texured bedding and soft throws keep the scheme from being sterile.

If you are going to opt for minimalism in only one room in your house, that room should be the bedroom.  No distractions for relaxation and a perfect nights sleep.  Although this white bedroom scheme is definitely minimalist, I like the fact it has warmth due to the herringbone floor and interest added with the contemporary four poster.  The simple bedding looks luxurious too and I would be more than happy to take a nap between those sheets. Image credit

One of the guest bedroom at Bowood House in Wiltshire has walls covered in Colefax & Fowler’s ‘Bowood’ design – a pattern named after this house with interiors by John Fowler. The same pattern features on the bed valance, headboard, curtains and chair upholstery.

Tiny bedrooms don’t need to be boring bedrooms. Stick to a two-tone scheme (in this case, pink and white), streamline with clever storage and make a design feature with essential items, like books. A few well-chosen necessities in bold prints (throws, cushions, etc) will add some personality.

An elegant iron daybed provides a spot for reading in the day as well as a place to sleep at night. The colourful, characterful textiles and soft toys hung from the bed and walls keep it young and fun.

An archway was built to frame French windows that allow light to pour into a teal-coloured bedroom full of Moroccan treasures in Vanessa Branson’s 28-bedroom Marrakech riad hotel El Fenn, where artwork inhabits every wall.

You can paint the ceiling in any bedroom, of course, but it’s an especially fun touch for a child’s bedroom. This girl’s room, found on JWS Interiors, is a pretty space filled with great touches like the chandelier, hanging chair, and shaggy rug, but it’s the circus-tent stripes on the ceiling that really kick up the whimsy.

Can this possibly be the perfect bedroom? Let’s talk about the colour. This bedroom has the ever so popular grey wall. It’s modernised by adding a touch of yet another grey that has the slightest hint of a muted lavender. It’s pleasing to both men and women because this colour palette right smack in the middle of the appeal for both sexes. The black adds a nice masculinity and grounding to the room shown in the strong stripe of the area rug and gorgeous texture in the frames. The hard lines of the end tables are softened by soft white fabrics and an undulated headboard which add femininity to this space. Sleepy yet? Image credit

In the main bedroom of product designer Anthony Joseph – one half of kitchenware company Joseph & Joseph – mustard textiles were chosen to complement the walls painted in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Mole’s Breath’

In this modern city flat that has been transformed from a stark new-build to a characterful home, the use of a natural palette full of texture and earthy tones continues in this bedroom, creating a calm and peaceful space.

Gracias!

Most people want their bedroom to be a soothing, restorative retreat. If that’s your goal, then consider green and white for your palette. Add in botanical touches in the bedding, as in the room from Viscusi Elson Interior Design shown here, along with a showstopper sunburst mirror, stylish Roman shades, and cottage-casual white furniture, and the result is a room that calms your mind and refreshes your senses. Beautiful.

Unfortunately, that stable (if it is the pink one to which you are referring) is a doll stable. It is from Target. The brown fold out stable is a DIY and is also doll sized. I found the directions for making it here (http://beardollyandmoi.blogspot.com/2012/08/how-to-make-doll-ranch.html). Hope that helps.

This cottage bedroom at ‘Driftwood’  in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand was a shoot location for Laura Thomas Linens ‘Organic Bed Linen Collection’.  A space where time became irrelevant and the busy technological world we live in could be placed on hold.  The coastal style was uncluttered and the use of straw roller blinds and natural light created an atmosphere of wilderness and calm.  The incredible view could be enjoyed from the comfort of the bed.  A perfect paradise to wake up to! Image credit

Citrusy bright, full of cheerful touches, and almost tropical in its sunshiny intensity, here’s a super-colorful bedroom from Lucy and Company that gets everything right: cute wallpaper, well-loved stuffed animals, a cheery throw blanket that ties the color scheme together, and more fun touches in the Roman shade, retro silver bookcase, and glass lamps. But it’s the lime green, sunny yellow, and fuchsia pink palette that steals the show. It’s hard to find a better color combo for a little girl’s…MORE bedroom.

I love glamorous bedrooms that are sophisticated and not too glitzy. I love this bedroom because, even though it’s flowery, it has a masculine edge – due to the opulent dark walls and pared-back design integrity of the rest of the room. It’s a great bedroom for both men and women, which I like, as I think sometimes us ladies can sometimes take over the design of our bedrooms! Image credit

Wonderful post! I love the ideas of personalizing the bedroom. The design was very creative and unique. I should try to be creative by customizing my stuffs in my bedroom without spending much money. Hoping for more great post!

Every girl, regardless of her age, loves grooming herself. Girls love taking care of themselves in all aspects; appearance, health, and even they take care of their own stuff, keeping them neat and always clean. In order for a girl to do all of those things, she needs her very own little world where she can be herself, detaching herself from everyday’s hectic responsibilities, and finding a place where she can work on beautifying herself. Girls usually find this kind of privacy in their own rooms, and since a lot of girls are a bit picky and neat when it comes to their stuff, they probably need a room that pretty much match their personalities. If you are one of those girls, we brought to you a list of decoration ideas that you might like using in your bedroom. Check them out.

When it comes to luxurious comfort, you can’t beat a padded headboard wrapped in quality fabric. This plush, tufted headboard adorned with rhinestones was made by H-Studio. See the rest of this dream bedroom suite.

Yes, even if your bedroom is small, you can still have a wow-inducing accent wall, as proven so strikingly here by Décor Gold Designs. Bold wallpaper has a place even in the tiniest of rooms. Just stick with one wall – preferably the one at the head of your bed – and keep the rest of the room sedate in terms of color and pattern.

Don’t forget to add some life to your space. “There’s no reason houseplants should be kept out of the bedroom—I’ve even used potted indoor trees in small rooms,” he says. “Having something vertical like a fig tree can bring the eye up. Plants can make a stuffy room feel fresh, too.”

This baby pink rug looks really cute, fluffy and comfortable to walk and sit on, which is perfect for a little girl’s room. The best part is that you can easily make one yourself. Now this pillow isn’t nearly quite as simple. In fact, it is probably a lot of work to make and either glue or sew all these pink ruffles. It makes for a gorgeously detailed decorative throw pillow though. thegirlinspired.

Sisters sharing a room can be a recipe for squabbling. To keep the peace, go in with a game plan. If the girls are old enough to help with decor decisions, ask for their input. That way they’ll feel like they have a vested interest in the room. Also, designate an area for each girl’s stuff so both will feel like they have their own space. Another tip: Plan for the future. When baby outgrows the crib, be prepared to shift around furniture or consider adding a bunk bed or a trundle bed.

When decorating my own home, my furniture picks have been dictated by my shoestring budget. This hasn’t stopped me having big ideas for my bedroom. I’ve just had to be style savvy – picking up vintage finds for next to nothing. I always start with soft grey painted walls, then – my tip – is to paint all my furniture in the same colour so they match – helpful when you are dressing your room with higgledy-piggledy junk shop finds. I’m not adverse to modern designs, in fact I think they are key to stopping a budget home looking to retro or fuddy-duddy. That is why I love statement lighting as it brings a modern twist to an eclectic look.  The best bit about doing up a vintage home is these purchases don’t break the bank, and with a bit of hard work can look amazing. And if you tire of it, you can sell it and buy something new – this suits me down to the ground as my bedroom style is always changing. Image credit

It has an en-suite with a double shower so that you can shower at the same time as your partner, I thought this would be romantic. The velvet, the suede, the silk, the divine fabrics and tones used in this bedroom are an entire world of calming, soothing, touchy feely goodness. It’s also a deluxe combination. To me It’s a winner. Image credit

This townhouse was designed for a collector and we wanted to ensure that every room particularly the bedroom remained elegant and classic while providing a backdrop for the magnificent collection of works of art and antiques. Every room needs a splash of pattern. In this trendy pre-teen room, an accent of cheerful lavender wallpaper pops perfectly against crisp white furniture and built-ins. The pattern is repeated in the window coverings in the room. Colorful pillows and bedding pull in more colors from the girl’s bedroom wallpaper and tie the color scheme together. Finally, the area rug packs the last punch in this busy, but cohesive room. With wallpaper and patterns as fun as this, there’s no need for girl’s bedroom wall decor.

Formerly a rabbit warren of small, dark rooms, this Victorian house in west London has been opened up, flooded with light and filled with the owners collection of art and furniture, to create a balance between its original character and modern style. The main bedroom and bathroom design proved problematic, due to the Victorian dimensions of the five-metre-wide space. The soft lighting and gentle palette brings to mind the inviting warmth of an art gallery. A charming arrangement of mostly Modern British oils and drawings, which owner Ben Whitfield collects, rests on a built-out picture shelf that doubles as a headboard.

In the London apartment of Venetian designer Alvise Orsini, ricepaper has been painted to match two eighteenth-century Chinese wall panels found at auction. ‘It is impossible to tell the difference,’ he says. Ecclesiastical iconography, oriental fabrics and a collection of hanging lamps, mainly from Turkey, imbue the main bedroom of Tessa Kennedy’s London home with a colourful eclecticism. Here’s another room that would thrill just about any little girl, but isn’t going to break your budget. You may consider selecting a theme for your teenage bedroom as it keeps you focused and allows you to work on details. Hobbies and sports, celebrities, rock stars, cars, shapes, etc are few themes extremely appreciated by the teens. Irrespective of the theme you are selecting, ensure to select the wall color bright and inspiring. Stripes, checks, and mural designs are also known to work very well on the walls.

Don’t be fearful of brights in the bedroom, they can look fantastic, but we suggest keeping strong hues to a feature wall behind the bed and choosing a softer, more calming colour for the rest of the room.

These are some some incredibly creative ideas! I love how these designs make the most of small spaces. Another option is to purchase furniture with multiple purposes. It’s a remote controlled retractable Wall Bed that snakes up behind the cabinet instead of folding down, so you can put your flat screen TV or bookshelves in front. Something new and colourful is what I thought I’d do,’ says interior designer Gytha Nuttall of the decoration of her converted nineteenth-century schoolhouse in Battersea. ‘But as the project developed, slowly I returned to all the muddy colours I love best.’

It’s hard to put your finger on what is so special about Ett Hem, a 12-room hotel in the embassy quarter of Stockholm. Ett Hem translates as ‘a home’, and it feels as though it has been lived in for ages, even though it only opened in 2012 everything is in just the right place and gives the impression of being brand new, though ‘new’ here means in great condition rather than fresh out of the box. It is as if, simultaneously, the house has been repainted, the curtains laundered, the original furniture recently returned from the upholsterers, the bookshelves reordered, the plants recently pruned – the way most of us would like our own homes, if only we could find the time. Interior designer Ilse Crawford was responsible for the look. The wall cabinet in the kitchen was designed by Studioilse, and the company also sourced many antiques, including chandeliers lit by real candles.

Ok, so…I have a small room. How many teenagers do YOU know that has these gigantic elegant hardcore expensive rooms??!! I know NO ONE who has a giant room. My living room is like the size of some of these rooms. Be REALISTIC.

In the spare bedroom of Caroline Holdaway’s cottage, an olive-stripe flatweave rug from Sinclair Till contrasts with a vibrant tartan rug from Toast used as a bedspread and cushions made from fabric pieces left over from projects.

It’s the little details that make this room so appealing. Storage is cleverly hidden away, while the four-poster bed tucked into the alcove is a subtle style statement. The texture on the bedspread and pop of red are the perfect finishing touches.

The age of your daughter will largely determine what type of décor or theme you should use in the room. With a newborn, you will want to find baby girl nursery room ideas, such as a farm animal or fairy theme, that will be appropriate for many years or that can easily be altered as your daughter grows and her tastes change. Circus design or farm animal themes are good baby room ideas for girls that your daughter will not quickly out grow. They are also both gender neutral themes that can be incorporated into a shared toddler room for girls and boys. For either of these designs, you can paint the walls of the room a neutral color such as pale yellow or blue and then purchase bedding, art, curtains, wall decals, and accessories that are consistent with the theme. Wall decals and pretty girls bedding sets with pink pigs, white ducks, yellow chicks and other barnyard animals are farm-themed accessories that are inexpensive and can be easily removed or altered when your daughter is older and wants to transfer her space into a teenage bedroom.

A bright aqua bed frame pops against the lighter shade of the accent wall for a lovely color effect in this girl’s bedroom. A coral dresser is a great feminine touch while a mix of pillows adds an array of colors for a bright and fun finish.

The late Lady Hindlip, the designer owner of this home, was described as a ‘serial mover’. This Fifties property – her nineteenth home – was enthusiastically created into the perfect London pied-à-terre with a quintessentially English feel. The rug in the main bedroom of this is from Talisman. Botanical prints hang on the wall, which is covered with a striped wallpaper by Colefax and Fowler.

While it’s wonderful to go buck wild with the decoration of a child’s room, sometimes a subtle approach, like that taken in this charming nursery by Emma Burns of Colefax & Fowler, can save time and money – especially if the baby is likely to graduate to a bigger room later on.

I really like the bedroom design with the built in bed with moldings on the side and the shelf ledge on top. Do you have any additional pictures of this bedroom? I would like to have a built in like this constructed for my daughter but would like to see more images.
