Although the internet and home decorating magazines are great resources for girls room designs, ideas and pictures for this space can be found in unexpected places. Get inspiration from childhood story books, your daughter’s favorite movie, or even popular television shows. However the best, and most important resource for unique girls room design ideas such as castle themes, Barbie decorations, or mermaid inspired décor, will be your daughter herself. Regardless of how old she is, most young girls will have some sort of preference towards what is put in their room, whether it be for the color you paint the walls, the art you hang on the walls, or the covers you put on the bed. So try to involve your daughter in the decoration process by having her look at online pictures of kids rooms with you, tag along with you while you search department stores for childrens bedding, or even come with you to the home improvement store to find paint samples. With her help you will be able to make your little girls room makeover a fun and exciting task.

We’ve loved the grey and citrus colour combination for a long time but this more mellow yellow and grey scheme gives a softer feel to a child’s room. Combined with three perfectly placed prints and some stylish textiles, the whole look is uber chic.

Henry Bikerton, the director of antique and reproduction fireplace company Jamb, revived his traditional Victorian townhouse with carefully chosen elements of English country house style. He shares this bedroom with wife Sophie and his home with his two children. You’d never guess this room once so darky and dingey because the previous occupier had blacked out the windows with pizza boxes! Now the he windows are adorned with crewel curtains, originally made by the interior designer Hugh Henry and salvaged from a skip.

Playful shapes – such as this bed frame in the shape of a house – are a modern take on the traditional four-poster bed. As the furniture is neutral, add charming pops of colour with the bedding and accessories.

More than a decade after inheriting their Perthshire estate, James and Caroline Inchyra have realised its full potential, turning it in to a bustling family home. Chintz curtains with an elaborate pelmet feature in this sunny bedroom. Take a look around the rest of the house here.

Will Fisher and his wife Charlotte of Jamb have completely refashioned their eighteenth-century house in south east London, relaying the wooden antique floors, reproducing the cornicing and installing period chimneypieces and stonework. The couple have done a great deal to bring that much sought-after – but rarely achieved – country-house look to the mainstream aesthetic.

A dramatic use of pattern teamed with modern furniture creates a playful yet effect in this Notting Hill town house by Suzy Hoodless. The mixologist designer is known for her mild eclecticism and smart monochrome backgrounds. ‘My aim,’ she says, ‘is that when I hand over a house, it is an extension of its owners’ personalities, and with this project we achieved that.’

There’s a few things that are key to how you feel when you walk into your bedroom – mainly it comes down to floors, walls, furniture and decoration. If you’re renting you may not be able to touch the floors or walls and will have to work with what you have. If it’s your own house however, you may be wondering which colour to paint the walls so they go with your floors, or so you can make a small bedroom appear bigger. Pay attention to these elements in the photos.

The owners of this west London house employed a skilled team to restore its original features, and create a home with a feeling of permanence after a lifetime of moving. The house is a tall, mid-nineteenth-century white stucco building that they wanted to work well for twenty-first-century family life. ‘We were determined to avoid beige banker chic,’ the owner explains. The daughter’s diminutive bedroom is hung with Cole & Son’s ‘Hummingbirds’ wallpaper.

With a characteristic respect for the fabric of this eighteenth-century house in Bath, designer Patrick Williams has carefully transformed it into a welcoming home and B&B. For Patrick, whose company Berdoulat specialises in the reinvention of period buildings, ‘the building itself is the most important client and should dictate what is done to it’. Such is his respect that he did not begrudge the request from the local conservation officer to preserve the original peg joints between the floor joists and beams, even though new steel sections would provide the structural support – a detail that, once covered by floorboards, nobody would see. He delights in the ‘hidden beauty’ of the building – details like the pie-crust-edged chimneypots that ‘can be seen only by Father Christmas’.

In the main bedroom of a large Chelsea flat designed by Sophie Ashby, silk ‘Madison’ wallpaper from Stereo provides a bold background to the set of nude studies from Lorfords Antiques. Complementing the earthy palette of this large space, smart rosewood cabinets flank the bed. ‘It drives me crazy that so often in newbuilds everything is built-in, so I wanted something free-standing and moveable,’ explains Sophie.

Flea market lamps are one of the most affordable ways to add one-of-a-kind lighting to a tween girl’s room. Although found with a beige shade for $25, this brass lamp was updated with a black paper shade picked up at a big-box retailer for less than $15.

When asked whether she and Bunny felt intimidated, Emma’s response is: ‘Dom understands the value of interior design – and what other man would be happy with a pink bedroom?’ ‘Everyone was quite surprised that I jumped on the pink,’ says Dominic.

We’re having a bit of a love affair with yellow at the moment, but this has to be one of our favourite applications of the sunny hue: bright yellow shutters combined with a black and white scheme and a few yellow accessories to accent. Amazing.

I love this bedroom for a number of reasons: it just looks so calm, relaxing and welcoming. It belongs to Netherlands-based interior stylist and journalist Holly Marder, who has a fab blog called Avenue Lifestyle. When you see the before images you will realise just how successful this bedroom makeover has been. Before it was dark and decorated in a garish purple and orange, but Holly has transformed it into a calm retreat by painting the floorboards and walls white. I like how the design is asymmetrical, there’s two different bedside tables, two different lamps, and a cluster of framed pictures on just one side, but it still really works, you don’t have to be too rigid and use the same thing on each side, especially when there are two different people in the bed, with two different personalities! Image credit

This townhouse was designed for a collector and we wanted to ensure that every room particularly the bedroom remained elegant and classic while providing a backdrop for the magnificent collection of works of art and antiques. The antique carpet provided us with the initial inspiration for the colour scheme of the bedroom; we chose to echo its green tones throughout the room from the walls to details and furnishings like the cushions.

Anne-Marie Midy inherited this house in the south of France and has since lovingly restored it to refresh the interiors without losing the charm of the space. Anne-Marie Midy and her husband own the Mexican furniture company Casamidy.

This spare room in the restored Cumbrian farmhouse of Annabel Lewis (owner of V V Rouleaux) has an antique canopied bed covered in toile de Jouy, with a nightstand painted in a matching hue. The unframed paintings and books piled by the bed add a relaxed look to the period features.

Simple, understated luxury with a dash of Gallic charm is the appeal of online boutique Bodie and Fou. Stock up on their don’t-want-to-wake-up-from-this linen bedding and steal their effortlessly cool styling ideas.

This family home in Notting Hill was the work of Maria Speake, who along with husband Adam owns reclamation company Retrouvius. The children’s bedroom is decorated in Maria’s playful style, with bright green carpets, bold patterns and fun birch-ply shelving. The curtain fabric is by Svenskt Tenn.

Cameron Short and his family live in a restored Georgian house in Dorset. The end the bed in his children’s room is full of teddies and toys. Pretty antique dresses hung up on a line are a witty alternative to bunting.

Detailing and subtlety of colour are trademarks of designer John Minshaw’s interiors, and the barn conversion he shares with wife Susie illustrates this perfectly. The bedroom pairs William Yeoward bedlinen with a blue headboard and black furniture.

The wrought iron bed, the clustered display of fresh flowers, the vintage print textiles (we love the mustard yellow and red floral quilt), religious iconography above the bed…We have a feeling there’s a confident and extremely cool designer behind this bedroom.

Cool beds for girls don’t need to be castle-shaped or have a slide. Sometimes what makes a bed unique is where it’s placed. In this case, the perfect little nook. A happy shade of pink surrounds a sleeping alcove with year-round freshness. The peony pattern is charming for a young girl, yet mature enough to suit her well into her teen years. For a fun twist, pair girls’ bedroom colors, like pink, with a hint of teal. Here, a scalloped border of robin’s egg blue provides a sweet contrast for this playful pink bedroom.

This kid’s room features a Hans J Wegner bed, which sets the tone for Danish simplicity in this white space. Simple, modern furniture complements the bright and airy feel of the scheme, while mustard curtains and a framed print on the wall add colour and interest.

Think neutral bedrooms have to be boring? Then take a look at this masculine, relaxing, and anything-but-dull bedroom from architect and designer Patrick Brian Jones. When the palette is quiet, clever use of subtle pattern adds interest without overwhelming the small space. A folded throw blanket in a contrasting hue adds extra oomph to the foot of the bed.

im a teenager, and for me i personally like alot of these designs, there not all stereotypical. but it does seem like an old woman has made them and she doesnt really know what teenagers like. so maybe she should get some input from real teenagers

Far from stark and uninspiring, stripped back wooden floors and plain white walls are the epitome of classic Scandinavian interior design. A personal favourite of mine, there is nothing more relaxing than natural light, contrasting textures and a hint of colour popping through in features such as the statement mint wood burner found in this Scandinavian haven. Simple changes make this interior’s style easy to achieve – think fur throws thrown over white bedding, painted floors with warmth added through sheepskin rugs, a series of monochrome finishes including framed typography prints and industrial elements such as this oversized light juxtaposed with untouched wood finishes found throughout. A school uniform chair would be a truly special feature for any child or teenager’s room – uniform, sports kit, brownies, cubs, a favourite party dress, any outfit can become an eye-catching piece of furniture with a little imagination. Here, I used a digital fabric design and combined it onto my favourite style of armchair. This would work equally well on any style of chair, sofa or interior furnishing! I think this is a wonderfully quirky design that features a fabulous twist on a special part of your child or teenager’s life, making sure that the memories of their happiest years live on forever… Custom-designed chairs, lampshades, cushions and wallpaper designs are a fantastic edition to any child’s bedroom and provide high quality, extremely comfortable pieces that will make your bedroom design truly unique and memorable.

bedrooms should reflect her tastes and style with a youthful yet more sophisticated look and need to be very stylish, modern, fashionable and vibrant with energy. If it is possible, you can get your teenager involved in the …

Buenas, me llamo pablo y quiero pintar mi dormitorio.

Grove Lodge, the Cambridge home of Tim Knox, director of The Fitzwilliam Museum, and landscape designer Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, provides the perfect setting for the couples growing collection of artwork and curiosities. In the spare bedroom a gallery wall of antique pictures has been coupled with a brass bed-frame and gingham bedspread.

Cushions from Beaumont & Fletcher are among the golden accents in this spare room in the London flat of Hannah Cecil Gurney, the daughter of Claud Cecil Gurney, founder of the handmade wallpaper company de Gournay. Bring a redundant fireplace up to scratch for the party season by lining it with wallpaper. Simply take the dimensions of the inside of your fireplace, cut out the wallpaper to fit and Blu-Tac it into place. A few ornamental logs, tea lights or strategically placed baubles also help achieve this festive look.

The power of three. If you keep the rest of your room plain, have three statement touches to make the room pop. Here, it’s the artwork above the bed, the pink pillowcases and the bright stools. Simple, no?

Interior designer Marion Lichtig designed the headboards in the spare room to echo the nineteenth-century Dutch, harlequin-painted armoire. The pretty floral quilts were found in France, but the floral ranges from Ikea (such as Emmie Blom) are a good match.

Vintage vanity is on the list for Squiggles’ room. I like the color of this one: Fresh coat of paint on vanity and recovering with a fun Amy Butler coral/orange print. Love keeping the furniture that I grew up with and giving it new life for Ava’s room.

Thinking about how you want to set up dorm room design is something that occurs shortly after you realize you’ll be moving away to attend college. As what’s likely your first home away from home, designing your dorm room should be a fun and memorable experience. From choosing your bedding to creating a productive study space, your dorm room design should reflect your own personality. For boys’ and girls’ dorm inspiration, we have a wide range of ideas at PBteen to share with you.

‘For the decoration, I kept the materials simple. Most important was the reclaimed timber floor, which sets the tone for the whole flat,’ designer Harriet Anstruther says. Her colour palette is similarly pared back, but with a few well-placed hits of bold colour – including this electric blue armchair in the bedroom.

The main bedroom of Ptolemy Dean’s Sussex newbuild is decorated in shades of blue and grey. This soothing scheme is finished with touched of dark wood. The curtains are in a floral fabric by G P & J Baker.

As much as possible, Anne-Marie tried to match the wall colours to those that her grandmother had used, keeping the bedrooms the same subtle colours, while adding ‘ribbons’ of colour to outline the architecture and ‘dress the room’.

Upstairs in the main bedroom of this farmhouse in the Chilterns hangs a collection of John Nash watercolours. ‘I love them, they represent my England; it makes me happy looking at them,’ says the owner. The magnificent Tabriz carpet is reputed to have come from the house of the poet and arts patron Edward James, West Dean in Sussex. The neutral walls allow pieces such as the bold Tabriz carpet and dark wood chest to take centre stage.

The bedroom should be one of the most comfortable and relaxing rooms in your home. That’s why I prefer a warm, soothing colour palette that helps you to unwind after a long day. I feel that gold accents and luxurious textiles such as velvet and silk complement warmer tones very well and give it a high-end look without compromising the comfort. I like the rest of the decor quite minimalist though so the room doesn’t look too busy. Simple and chic is the way to go! Image credit

Inspiration for a soft and elegant room design is easy to display with floral print bedding. Pick out a fun daisy print on a duvet cover and shams to add some cheer to your space. Bring out the colors of your bedding by using the complementary sheet sets we have available. Placing rugs around the floor softens the overall look and feel within the room. Adding golden finished lamps and chairs brings a cool finishing touch of glamour to your space.

Richard Taylor and Rick Englert have built a Jacobean-style manor at Whithurst Park in Sussex. It took a year to get planning permission and two more to build. The result bears some of the signatures of the prodigy houses built in the era, such as Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire and Hatfield House in Hertfordshire. This spare bedroom on the second floor has a four-poster canopy bed and moulded fireplace in keeping with the manor’s Jacobean look.

In the main bedroom of this family home designed by Turner Pocock, a hand-painted de Gournay silk wallpaper and an elegant chandelier sets the tone, but a pompom trim on the curtains, (‘Arrango Linen’ from Zinc Textile) adds a touch of playfulness and frivolity.

We are in the process of transforming our little one’s nursery into her big girl’s room. I’m going for a Scandinavian style with a touch of colour just like the one in this picture. The ingredients to achieve the perfect kids’s Nordic style room should include geometric patterns – you can use them in items of bedding or storage like boxes and bags. Cool prints to hang on the wall using washi tape. Picture Shelves are great for displaying art, books or small toys/decorative accessories. Adopt a minimal colour palette: black, white and one or two pastel colours. Finally, introduce a Charles Ray Eames table and chairs and an old fashioned looking white metal bed. A must to achieve the perfect Scandinavian look! Image Credit

The bed frame is antique, but for similar try the ‘Somerset’ at Laura Ashley. A French, nineteenth-century ash chest of drawers from Colefax and Fowler Antiques complements the iron and glass chandelier. For similar try the ‘Chantal’ at Graham & Green. The raffia wall shade on the back wall is from the The Conran Shop.

This bedroom in a Notting Hill townhouse is dominated by Michael Szell’s cheerful ‘Carnival’ fabric and wallpaper designed for Christopher Farr Cloth. The wall behind the bed has been entirely wallpapered, giving the effect of an extended headboard.

@Fay, that is your opinion, of course. I, however, was admiring the variety in the designs, happy that they weren’t all excessively girly, because, of course, that WOULD be stereotypical. There are girls that do like that kind of thing, however, and I thought this list was very good in portraying different styles for different people. You did find TWO that you liked, didn’t you? Each and every one wasn’t meant to suit each and every girl.

Tip: If your child wants a specific theme, aim for elements that can be interpreted multiple ways. Here, the parents chose to leave the monkeys, elephants, and clowns at the real circus and instead incorporated a tent theme that can be worked into other decor as the years go on.

The owner loves the spare aesthetic of the bamboo. ‘It is not overwhelming, just a very simple and pure design, not trying to impress, nestled in the leaves, just hanging on the cliff.’ The house was designed by Veere Grenney.

A charming mix of antique textiles and a curtainless four-poster bed designed by Max Rollitt, make up the focal point of this London bedroom. Find a similar bedspread at the Antique Textiles Company or commission Cassandra Ellis to design and make one bespoke.

Bedrooms should be calming and seductive spaces, and this bedroom ticks both those boxes.  It has a calming, neutral pallet that is kept interesting through a mix of textures – wooden floors and ceiling, the white-painted brick wall, a sisal rug, a glamorous fur throw, and the marble bedside table.  The painted black wall adds another layer of luxury and glamour to this space, but the large, simple artwork keeps it from being too dark.  Interest to this monotone colour scheme is also brought in through the architectural style of lighting, and the pattern in the cushions.  All in all a perfect combination! Image credit

This Victorian flat was designed by duo Lambert & Thurnherr who brought their international flavor to the space, creating a home that is both comfortable and individual. Blue and white fabrics give this bedroom a fresh feel.

Made.com founder Chloe Macintosh’s bedroom is an elegant combination of deep blue walls and oatmeal coloured stripes. For fabric with a similar feel try Romo or Le Gracieux, who both do a striped cotton with a similarly painterly feel.

It’s already been said – you just can’t not decorate the ceiling of a princess’s room. A canopy is a classic that never goes out of style, and installing it in the ceiling adds that magical touch while also making optimal use of the space available. addisonswonderland.

Be smart about storage when decorating a small bedroom. Employ a nightstand with drawers and shelves and install a floating shelf above for extra storage in a small bedroom. Consider room organizers for small rooms for maximum clutter control.

A sleigh bed, for example, is a preferred conventional style of bed that can be conveniently combined with deluxe bed linens to produce a conventional, classic look in your bedroom. Of course, if you desire an extra modern look you could take into consideration the very same sleigh bed including modern lines and integrated with solid shades, stripes or geometric patterns.

I am 13 and have to share a room with my si. She is 19 and we have TOTALLY different styles. So there is just another example of ho people have different tastes. I think that they should do more realistic and affordable room. Sorry if I sound rude or snobby but that is teh first and surely the last thing that me and my sis agree on

Designate areas in a bedroom for specific purposes. A cozy bench by the window is a sunny spot for reading. Big baskets on a shelving unit house toys and books in a central location. A small table in the center of the room can be set for tea with friends or can be used as a work area for art projects or studying.

For girls who like a subtle vintage/ classic country style, the shabby chic bedroom is a winning option. Sit ditsy florals and mix-and-match furniture in front of a wall hung with your teen’s personal gallery, and finish with quirky vintage accents, such as a tailor’s dummy (which doubles up as a clothes horse!).

Most bedrooms function as living and playing spaces, which means decorating needs to work double-duty. Choose a rich color, like this terra-cotta, and introduce accents in natural tones to keep the room feeling warm and comfortable.

I love a crisp, clean, modern bedroom like this one from NylonPinksy. I love to switch up an ‘expected’ design of a space, with something unexpected like using two different lamps on the nightstands (as in this photo).

Some are more serious; others feature familiar (and popular) pink, orange and red schemes. All of the rooms are practical, featuring workspaces, bookcases or shelving systems, and beautiful cabinets especially designed for teenage girls. Finally, a mirror is a mandatory item in any girl’s bedroom, so you will notice that mirrors have a special status in some of the photos below.

I love the Scandi simplicity of this girl’s bedroom. Loft rooms are like a dream for most children – they are cosy, snug and a bit different. With this lovely white backdrop you can create a calm and uncluttered space – the mixture of white, pink and blue accessories make the room so modern. Current trends for girls’ bedrooms are veering away from the pink saturation approach of latter years, and moving towards something more creative and meaningful. You can decorate a room like this with slightly more nursery-like accessories to begin with and then up-style when your girl grows older. This can see your child through from baby, towards secondary school age – saving a fortune in decorating costs. So glad you liked all the pictures! I love the laundry hamper as well. I think it is so cute. I think some day she may night like it because there isn’t any cover, but I bet I could create something. ? Yes, I will get to their rooms, hopefully in the next 12 months. I’m saving up now. Thanks so much for leaving your sweet comment! ♥

Designer Claire Paquin carefully crafted this glamorous tween room with growth in mind. She kept the room’s main elements — flooring, wall color, built-ins and more —  in a neutral palette to allow for shifting style preferences through the years.

Baskets are extremely versatile and attractive decorating tools that can add tons of much needed storage space in a small bedroom. Another plus is that baskets will complement virtually any design style, so have fun choosing ones that are just right for you. Helpful Hint: Keep reading materials out-of-sight, but not out-of-mind, by stashing a couple of baskets within http://marketerslog.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ reach of your bed. I’m 13 and I like to say that these layouts, ideas for bedrooms are great. Considering the fact that i have a big bedroom. I do agree with you Olivia 12 is the best, I love that they are not afraid of putting a little spot up there to chill or even to just sit there and enjoy time. It may be hard to believe that I have a room that big but it is very true.

Turn your little one’s room into a storage oasis with built-ins. Here, a custom-designed built-in window seat includes storage space for everything from books to toys to clothing. In each cubby, a pull-out basket waits to easily hide toys and unsightly cords. Not shown, a large cabinet next to the bed provides more storage for art supplies and games. And if those areas aren’t quite enough, the spacious closet provides more storage space for shoes, clothing, accessories, and toys.

This baby pink rug looks really cute, fluffy and comfortable to walk and sit on, which is perfect for a little girl’s room. The best part is that you can easily make one yourself. Before we get started on the various prints, patterns and colour palettes to consider, we need to address the double bed vs single bed debate that might be raging in your home; this teen bedroom furniture argument is not as unusual as you might think – sales of single beds have dropped significantly in the last few years as teens’ beds become islands where they sleep, chat, watch TV and even do their homework. Whatever you decide, and with available space clearly the defining factor, the decorating ideas for teen girls rooms in this gallery can be adapted to suit either single or double bedrooms.

Thanks to a bold color scheme of violet, black, white and gold, this designer-caliber tween girl’s room is as appealing to the tween herself as it is to her young parents. From the royal palette to the vintage pieces and fashion-inspired fabrics, everything in the room can transition well as the tween girl becomes a full-fledged teenager. To invest wisely with tween room updates, emphasize color and pattern instead of themes.

We tried having one fall asleep in our room, then moving them when we went to bed. It went like that for a long time. I finally just decided it was dumb to keep having them sleep in our room and that they needed their own rooms. It was a good choice. My girls are still close and we now have kids who get sleep and can function during the day. Yay!

If you’ve got the square footage for it, aiding productivity can be as easy as including a dedicated workspace in the bedroom. This stylish set of bright whites with pops of pink and blue produces an air of driven focus, while still keeping a cheery, light-hearted vibe. Homework, studying, and research projects beware the powerhouse of teenage initiative that will settle in to pound out assignments at record speed in this gorgeous space. Bookshelves allow for storage of all the learning essentials, and a second, smaller pull-out desk makes it easy to swap between tasks. A comfy chair with fluffy pillows allows for brief respites in between hardcore study sessions.

Whether you go for a moody hue or stick to a crisp pale shade, adding plenty of light sources is key to keeping the room from feeling dark and claustrophobic. “Decorative overhead lighting like a pendant or chandelier (instead of ceiling cans), bedside table lamps, a floor lamp, and even reading sconces will add to the ambience,” he says. “Like Andy Warhol said, ‘I believe in low lights and trick mirrors.’

This beautiful soft industrial bedroom featured on the cover of the launch issue of Warehouse Home – and it’s been proving very popular! The original features of a warehouse conversion, such as exposed brickwork, can often feel ‘hard’ and ‘masculine’. Old and new steel furniture is especially striking in such spaces but can also feel cold. When styling the Warehouse Home bedroom (above), we wanted to prove that industrial chic can have a soft side. A bespoke galvanised steel pipe bed, designed exclusively for Warehouse Home by Inspirit Deco, was the focal point of our warehouse bedroom. And beside it, a vintage industrial bedside cabinet. We then used a ‘masculine and feminine’ palette of greys and blush pinks and a variety of textured fabrics (linen, tweed, velvet), to bring warmth to our bedroom and soften the industrial look. Select vintage accessories complemented the warehouse conversion’s heritage features, while flowers and decorative vintage glassware further enhanced the “femininity” of the space. Image credit

Wonderful Classic Young Girl Bedroom Decorating Ideas – Interior design – Do you need to increase the sense of self-confidence into your young girl and help her feel like a princess? If so, the classic bedroom will be your perfect

I like interiors being minimalist, effortless and welcoming and this bedroom embodies all these things. I love the contrast of the matte black floorboards, the various hues of dark and light grey soft stonewashed linen to curl up in bed on a Sunday morning, the gorgeous atelier windows and the sheet of rusty metal casually lay against the wall and turned into a simple piece of art and a few of our favourite design books. A great combination of simple lines, textures and muted colours. Image credit

The owners of this Somerset country house had not anticipated taking on such a large project, but their careful renovation enhanced by modern decorative touches has resulted in a smart, yet comfortable, forever home. The daughter’s bedroom has a pastel palette and a simple white bed frame, allowing mixed patterns to work well together. The grey and cream rug is ‘Cora’ from The Rug Company.

Add some sparkle to a princess-themed room with a http://www.kait8.com/story/37622080/news wallpapered ceiling. This room’s blue ceiling, as well as small pops of powder blues, lavender, and bright coral, breaks up a mostly pink color scheme. Statement light fixtures above the bed give extra glamour that can carry into teenage years.

This girl’s bedroom designed by Petite Vintage Interiors features some must-haves for ultimate fun and style for little ones. Pastel colours are great in children’s bedrooms, mixing pastel colours makes it really easy to achieve a scheme that is soothing and still loads of fun. I love the pink and mint features that stand out in this bedroom! Next, the wall stickers are a great addition. They are easier, quicker and cheaper to use than wallpaper. Little dots, triangles or clouds are just some of the many choices available. Making storage fun is also important by using cleverly shaped side tables and shelves. The house-shaped shelf used as a side table here is a great example. And you’ll score highly on the fun factor! Image Credit

Sharing a room as a teenager can be tough, but it doesn’t have to be ugly! In this pretty space, designer Kristina Crestin dressed two full-sized beds in matching white ruffled bedding and plush fur throws, hanging each girl’s monogram above her bed for personalization. A shared midcentury modern dresser doubles as a nightstand and is a cool contrast to feminine pink ruffled curtains.

I love so much about this baby/toddler room interior. The bunting across the blind really sets a tone for the room and I love the lights hanging off of the ladder, they add a touch of warmth and cosiness to the room – which is exactly how every baby or child’s room should feel. I love that the floors and walls are bright. There’s a blue, white and grey theme which is fantastic because it suits a young baby as well as being grown up enough for a toddler. We’re re-doing our boys’ rooms this year and this image among others is where we’re taking inspiration from. I plan to use a light laminate floor like here and opt for light walls too, contrasting it by using colourful accessories. I think that when it comes to children’s interiors it’s fine to want to go modern, but it’s important to make sure that the room both reflects your child’s personality and is fun and young at the same time. “Hanging drapery as close to the ceiling as possible is a design trick that actually works,” Humphrey says. “It’ll bring the eye up. While we’re at it, a good trick for picking curtains is to match the fabric to the wall color. It’s modern and can be nice in a smaller space, because your eye won’t be distracted by contrasting colors.”

Transform a nursery into a bedroom by introducing striped wallpaper and a patterned window treatment, such as this butterfly blind and matching voile canopy. The adorable doll’s house shelf finishes off the style.

Love the photos, really gave me some ideas on decorating my next flat. The bedroom in the new property is quite small but the walls are painted in a cream colour – will be easy to pick the right elements to decorate it. Since I’m a tenant, I’ll have to find non-destructive ways of decorating the place. I will also have to think how I’ll remove and clean the place when my tenancy comes to an end, but this isn’t a problem since London is full of shops and I have plenty of things to choose from.

You can pick up some great furnishing tricks from hotel rooms. Hotel room designers are masters of designing comfortable bedrooms for sleeping and lounging. Here’s a great hotel detail that will give your bedroom a touch of luxury. Add a pair of comfortable and inviting upholstered chairs at the end of a bed to provide a place for reading and relaxing.

If you’re afraid of mixing pattern, start with stripes. A variety of sizes in the same colour adds interest, yet fits with the calm atmosphere of a bedroom. Designer Paolo Moschino chose a nautical colour scheme of blue and white for this fisherman’s cottage in Cornwall.

Looking for a sophisticated palette that manages to be both masculine and glamorous at the same time? Then consider the combination of chocolate brown and white. Amp it up further with a small chandelier, a patterned rug and white bedding, and the result is pure splendor.

In the main bedroom of this London house, two rows of framed antique pressed flowers bought from the owner’s friend Charlie McCormick line the walls. The headboard, which is upholstered in a hand-dyed pink velvet by Kirsten Hecktermann, with the same velvet used for the panelling between the bedroom and bathroom. Kirsten copied the colour from a small piece of eighteenth-century ribbon that belonged to Henrietta, who describes it as being – ‘the colour of rhubarb stems’. Above the chimneypiece is a pair of candle sconces from another friend – Lulu Lytle of Soane, on the Pimlico Road.

The vintage photos and beautiful wooden bed (with a built-in bookcase, natch) isn’t the only reason this is a dream bedroom. One of two bedrooms in the Royal Suite at The Goring hotel in London, it also features a private balcony which runs the entire length of the building, overlooking the hotel’s private garden and the London rooftops beyond. Suite dreams…

Feeling studious? A simple desk and an upholstered chair from Robert Kime creates a study area in the corner of this bedroom. The bedroom is elegant in its simplicity. The curtains are unlined with aquamarine silk from Claremont, with an inner curtain of linen. ‘When the sun shines, I draw the curtains, which throws a luminous light everywhere,’ says the owner. The walls are covered with tadelakt – a decorative lime-based plaster originally from Morocco.

Anna Potter’s bedroom is everything that I look for in a place to sleep.  Warm, calm, welcoming and homely. The dark grey walls and bed linen have a sense of calm, like a gentle welcoming you to bed.  The oversized vintage map above adds a sense of drama and no need for a headboard.  The room is filled with history, a hand-me-down chest of draws, holiday souvenirs, and the owners own artwork on the walls.  A vintage, comfortable and stylish space.  I could sleep there quite happily. Image credit

Tweens are notorious for being a fan of one thing one week to totally flipping and loving something else the next. Shelving and under-bed storage leave room for them to store things until they’re cool again.

Since moving into her husband’s 300 year old Wiltshire farmhouse, designer Sarah Vanrenen has enhanced its quirky charm, with an adjusted layout and unexpected colours. Upstairs, the seven bedrooms are equally individual – one has a cheerful mixture of lilac and jade, another lime and sherbet pink. A spare room is decorated with green tones, with sari fabric is on the ottoman at the end of the bed.

Let’s face it, teenagers and orderly rooms are a rare combination. Messy rooms seem to be a teenager’s rite of passage. Good storage options will be the best feature they didn’t think they needed but will appreciate.

Despite her classical aesthetic, Gytha has incorporated more modern touches in the flat. She opted against cornicing in favour of a cleaner finish and enhanced the New York loft effect by painting all the window frames dark brown.

Building your little girl a Princess Bedroom makes them feel loved and special, and it helps bring magic into their lives. And while fairytale princesses can make use of all of the realm’s gold to put together their dream bedrooms, you don’t need a huge budget to make pink fantasies come to life.

This simple platform bed welcomes guests with cozy organic linens. The natural feel is enhanced by a tree trunk bedside table, lots of natural light streaming through large windows, and a door that leads to the back patio.

Choose boxes in the same sizes so they can be stacked on top of each other. Cubby-hole-type shelving units that accommodate boxes are useful, too. Cupboard space is essential as well, for clothes and toys. Plus a bookcase means all of your child’s favourite reads will be close to hand.

Colours enhance your mood, so choosing the right colour for your bedroom can actually improve your sleep pattern. Green and blue are excellent bedroom colours. Lilac has a stress reducing effect, as does white. If you do decide to go for complete white walls, incorporating different textures and patterns can add depth and warmth to your bedroom. White bedrooms exemplify style and evoke a peaceful ambience. Incorporating natural textures and wood to white bedrooms will prevent your room from looking clinical and cold. Monochrome accents work well with white bedrooms too.

An easy way to add flair to any child’s room is with patterned accessories. This $350 playroom makeover comes to life with the addition of colorful and vibrant pillows. Although carpet is usually the most popular flooring choice for bedrooms, it’s hard to keep clean in high-traffic rooms. Rather than going through the motions of having carpet professionally cleaned yearly, it may be a better investment to simply replace wall-to-wall carpet with resilient vinyl plank flooring. Averaging less than $1.50 per square foot, vinyl plank is easy to install by cutting to size with a utility knife, then staggering each plank to create a pattern. As opposed to carpet, which stains easily, vinyl can simply be wiped clean with a sponge.

Hanging beds or wall beds are the trend of the day. These beds make up a great idea for your teenage girls bedroom. You could mix up these hanging beds with either a simple theme or an elegant and luxurious themed room décor for your girls. You can add a separate or common work table for the girls along with nice and elegant storage cabinets. The hanging beds leave you enough space for fitting in extra, classy storage baskets.

Next from the number of DIY projects in this tutorial are wall décor ideas. First is a DIY paper flower garland which is so easy to make and gives a lot of color and texture to your wall. The second idea is an abstract painting with a word. I went for the word live for my wall art to remind me that we need to live every moment as if it was our last.

I know people think it’s calming and minimalism is all the rage now, but I don’t think I could sleep in an all-white room, says Humphrey. I generally like cooler colors in a bedroom, though—blues and grays as opposed to warm tones. Black and white always works and can be a good foundation (like in a patterned area rug) to layer in some color. I think everyone would be a little happier if they had some pops of color in their bedrooms.

Today’s teenagers are design-conscious and up to date on the latest trends. But they’re torn between childhood and adulthood. Most teens have beloved toys they’re not ready to give up, but look for a room that’s older and more sophisticated than their childhood room.

The reason I love this bedroom is due to its refined elegance. The simple colour palette makes for a wonderfully calming master bedroom. The classic Ralph Lauren pinstripe walls serve as the perfect backdrop for the stunning navy upholstered bed, with its many layers of cushions and throws creating a hotel-like feel. From the beautiful symmetry presented through every aspect of this room, to the many sumptuous textures, this bedroom reflects the perfect marriage of classic style with distinctive contemporary touches. Image credit

Accent colors are all the rage, but they don’t just have to be on your walls. Bring the brightness to your furniture by painting the backs, shelves, or sides (or all of the above!) of bookcases a festive hue, like this fun and funky gray and pastel pink bookshelf. The same concept can be applied to a number of different pieces of furniture, like the drawers of dressers or the legs of desks. Feel free to go wild; there’s no place better suited to be coated with color than a teenage girl’s bedroom. Be bright and bold with your choices, or opt for more subtle and muted shades— either way, contrasting colors are a trendy and fashionable choice when it comes to teen girl room ideas.

The bedroom is usually quite a simple room. The design and layout is far less complicated than a kitchen or bathroom, so you can put a lot of focus on the decoration, style and colours you’re using. Start by thinking about who will be using the bedroom. Is it you alone? With your partner? Your teenage children? That’ll set the tone for your style.

Everyone knows that both princesses and fairies have tutu skirts, so why not adapt the idea to your little girl’s bed? It’s as easy as creating pleats in sparkly tulle and then securing them to the sides of the bed with fabric glue. handimania.

I have chosen this image because, as a Mum of 3-year-old boy and girl twins, this is such a great example of how to style a shared bedroom. Not only do the colours complement each other so well, but the room looks matched, even though it is for both sexes. The shelving is perfect for storing toys and books, and they can accessorize it with their own items. I am drawn to the simplicity of the design, and contemporary style especially as we now live in a modern new build home. My tips for styling a twins’ shared room is to keep it simple, use colour schemes that complement each other and involve the children in the process – as they usually like to have a say in what they prefer! Add some personality to a child’s bedroom with some thoughtful, unusual touches. Display particularly adorable clothes on quality hangers, add some neon polka dot wallpaper and a pidgeon cushion or two… Why not?

Jane Sacchi recounts the experiences of updating a twelfth-century tower in Florence, with her husband, architect Bruno Sacchi. ‘It took three years to transform it into an exceptional family home, during which period Bruno often wandered about with a hammer and chisel picking plaster off the walls to expose the frescoes.’

If you have trouble getting to sleep at night, then you might want to stick with restful neutral tones, combined with soft lighting. If, on the other hand, you find it hard to propel yourself out of bed in the morning, then it’s a good idea to opt for a bright, cheery colour that will make you eager to start the day. Pale hues can be used to open up a small bedroom and create a sense of space, but if the room is chilly or north-facing, then blue-greys should be avoided in favour of warmer tones. When selecting a bedroom wallpaper, dense, busy patterns and a strident palette can work against a restful, calming atmosphere, so it’s a good idea to stick to designs that are are more quiet and subtle.

This bedroom ticks a lot of boxes for me with the herringbone floor, contemporary light fitting and soft linen bedding. I always have a soft spot for period properties and the owners of this home have highlighted the gorgeous high ceiling with a dusty pink colour – a bold but highly effective way to add colour into a room without it being overwhelming. Also, by bringing the curtain pole the full width of the wall, the curtains do not cover the window at all – allowing for maximum light and a really luxurious feel with all of that lovely soft fabric. Interior designer Samantha Todhunter created this girl’s room in a home in south London by combining a stunning bespoke bed, made like an extended button-back sofa, with a fabulous feature blind, prints and a zebra print rug. One word springs to mind: fun.

A Louis XV-style bed and bedside table, a luxurious sheepskin rug, pink and gold wallpaper and a pearl chandelier. If you’ve got a little princess on your hands, this plush scheme will go down a storm.

I’m a 14 year old girl, and I am re-doing my small bedroom. None of these (with the exception of the first one) are realistic or what I’m looking for. I hate the unoriginality of the modern rooms and the pompous air in the others.

Designer Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay, the owner of this Victorian country house in Shropshire, has enhanced the interiors of this grand property with her signature mid-century aesthetic without compromising original features. The daughter’s room features striking striped wallpaper by The Art of Wallpaper and contains lots of bright, clashing patterns. This fun scheme makes for a lively space.

Consider introducing fun filled low cost novelties such as bean bags in jelly beans colors, bright colored bedding, funky lamps, attractive book stands or holders, vibrant window treatments, photo frames, etc. Alternatively, you may also spruce up things by employing distinct items for decoration such as a guitar, a golf stick, skateboard, old posters, trophies and mementos, artificial plants, etc. Also ensure to spread a bright rug on the floor as it is extremely useful for doing miscellaneous tasks.{pics from decorati, pbteen}.

Sisters sharing a room can be a recipe for squabbling. To keep the peace, go in with a game plan. If the girls are old enough to help with decor decisions, ask for their input. That way they’ll feel like they have a vested interest in the room. Also, designate an area for each girl’s stuff so both will feel like they have their own space. Another tip: Plan for the future. When baby outgrows the crib, be prepared to shift around furniture or consider adding a bunk bed or a trundle bed.

Vintage vanity is on the list for Squiggles’ room. I like the color of this one: Fresh coat of paint on vanity and recovering with a fun Amy Butler coral/orange print. Love keeping the furniture that I grew up with and giving it new life for Ava’s room.
