Sisters sharing a room can be a recipe for squabbling. To keep the peace, go in with a game plan. If the girls are old enough to help with decor decisions, ask for their input. That way they’ll feel like they have a vested interest in the room. Also, designate an area for each girl’s stuff so both will feel like they have their own space. Another tip: Plan for the future. When baby outgrows the crib, be prepared to shift around furniture or consider adding a bunk bed or a trundle bed.

If you’re searching for teen bedroom ideas, think about what your teen loves and see their bedroom through their perspective. A teenager has a different view of a bedroom than an adult — beyond a place to sleep, it’s where a teen escapes from the world of demands and rules.

Amazing collection Emily! Among all, the design of Alina Isaev is the one that captured my attention the most. Perfect combination of simplicity and elegance, this is what I want my dream room to look like.

An effortless way to bring color into a stark room is through the addition of flower-based art pieces. These can be made very painlessly at home with scrap wood, plastic flowers, wood letters, and a hot glue gun, letting you take control of the types and colors of flowers employed in your unique piece. Easy to customize brings another positive aspect: making multiple words in different shades and hues makes it simple and straightforward to swap out depending on your mood, the season, or the closest holiday. In a space that’s primarily made up of a neutral palette, these delicate and feminine designs bursting with life and color can drastically alter the feel of a room, bringing in a wealth of brightness and joy.

More often than not, people struggle with trying to make the most of limited storage in their bedrooms. By incorporating these storage solutions into your décor, you can let your belongings serve stylish double-duty.

You can have a room that suits you during childhood and all the way up through your teenage years and adulthood, and that is by having a color for your walls that look mature as well as adorable. Then brush up your room’s design by adding elegant accessories such as grown-up lamps or pendants.

Butter yellow curtains are a pretty complement to whimsical gray floral wallpaper in this designer space. Bamboo Roman shades set behind the curtains add visual depth to the design, while a blanket and throw pillows add layers of pattern and color.

Transform a nursery into a bedroom by introducing striped wallpaper and a patterned window treatment, such as this butterfly blind and matching voile canopy. The adorable doll’s house shelf finishes off the style.

Create the illusion of a taller room by hanging curtains higher. Install rods close to the ceiling and hang long curtains that stretch all the way down to the floor. Helpful Hint: Make the windows look larger by hanging a rod that is much wider than the window. Then, arrange curtains so they cover just a small bit of the window frame and a large portion of the wall on either side. Photo courtesy of Layla Palmer.

Bring a little nature into your room with silk plants, animal statuettes and baskets. Faux succulents require no care but add garden beauty to shelves and windowsills. Glass tabletop terrariums do well in a partially shaded area, like on a desk in front of a window or on a graduated set of shelves against a bedroom wall. Accent the look with country-inspired wall-hangings like longhorns and guitar case shelves. Finalize the theme with a few brightly colored fabric tapestries for a country-inspired bedroom that’s every bit as fresh as the outdoors. Hanging a few of your favorite art pieces is also an excellent way to decorate.

Beds can make a bedroom layout feel very linear and square. You can prevent this by placing a comfortable upholstered chair on an angle in the corner. This softens the corner of the room and encourages circulation. Add a small side table, some artwork and an ottoman, if there’s room, to make a cozy and inviting place to relax.

Of course, the first textiles that spring to mind are the bedding. But don’t just settle for any set. Layer multiple materials — think down, silk and shearling — to create a space that you never want to leave. Then, warm up the rest of the room by putting down a throw rug or adding a blanket to your seating area.

Decorating a girl’s bedroom could be enjoyable as well as easy as several little women have the tendency to favor specific style elements. Butterflies and blossoms tend to show up in numerous decorating schemes; however, a variety of ladies also like character styles. The ever before prominent princess style is regularly a hit.

It’s hard to believe that this is the same room in the same house. Black and white horizontal stripes elongate the sweet space, giving a greater sense of width. With a cute little crib and star-studded ceiling, we imagine that Benjamin, now two, is sleeping just fine.

I would describe this bedroom as ‘cosy contemporary’ and it’s the sort of space I could relax in at the end of a busy day.  It is fairly minimalist, but not as stark as a white or grey bedroom, with an on trend geo pattern and a soft colour palette, with bedroom ideas for teenage girls nertural warmth from the brass lamp and wooden side table.  I also love the white painted floor boards and think it is a look that could be quite easy to re-create. Image credit

This pink little girl’s room idea is a thrill for a kid at any age. The soft pink wall color is age-neutral, and the ornate rug and tufted bed frame can grow up along with your little girl. Being a ballerina is almost as much of dream for little girls as being a princess. This dream can easily be achieved, as it isn’t very difficult at all to hang a ballet barre and matching big mirror in your princess’s room. blesserhouse.

For girls who like a subtle vintage/ classic country style, the shabby chic bedroom is a winning option. Sit ditsy florals and mix-and-match furniture in front of a wall hung with your teen’s personal gallery, and finish with quirky vintage accents, such as a tailor’s dummy (which doubles up as a clothes horse!).

She wants her room to be a peachy pink and brown…a cowgirl theme. We needed a hamper for one of the girls rooms. I found this in the summer outdoor Smith & Hawken stuff at Target. While not a traditional hamper, it fits the space and the eventual theme well. It has worked well so far.

The bedroom is usually quite a simple room. The design and layout is far less complicated than a kitchen or bathroom, so you can put a lot of focus on the decoration, style and colours you’re using. Start by thinking about who will be using the bedroom. Is it you alone? With your partner? Your teenage children? That’ll set the tone for your style.

[…] knew we needed additional storage in the smaller room when we moved our girls into their own rooms. I also was on a budget. I came up with the idea to buy 3 IKEA Expedits and make a shelving unit […]

If you have a platform bed, create custom headboard by simply applying a material to the wall behind the bed. In the bedroom below, we applied a wood paneling to the wall behind the bed to create a custom headboard. The dark stained wood finish complements the platform bed color and ties it and the night stands together visually. You can make your headboard the full height of the wall or stop it part way up. To determine the minimum height for your headboard, prop up your pillows and measure 6”-8” (15-20 cm) above that.

Unless you have a budget that permits new furniture every few years, you’ll want to choose a bedroom set that grows up with your daughter. The room shown here is delightful now — what young girl wouldn’t love all the polka dots and the wonderful dog poster?  — but the basic white furniture will have no problem handling a more mature palette, bedding, and accessories when the teen years arrive.

Her closet still has the curtains on it like we had for the playroom. We had to modify the shelving in the closet to fit clothes as we had built it for a playroom. We used a Rubbermaid closet system that can be easily modified because it has tracks in the walls. You can see what the closet looked like before in my playroom reorganization post. It has detailed pics for you. It cost just a few dollars to change out her closet to hold her clothes and still hold some toys and some homeschool supplies.

Laughing…crying…playing…fighting. A shared sibling bedroom is a beehive of activity and needs. And that means there’s a lot for parents to tackle when creating their kids’ shared bedroom. With twice the amount (or more) of evolving personalities and necessities, it’s often a daunting task for parents to accommodate storage, space and the individual style of each child.

If your ultimate goal is “cozy,” then work different textures into the décor. Stick with classic patterns (tartan plaid, checks) and introduce different colors with the bed linens, walls, and accessories.

If you’ve ever stepped foot into the typical teenage girl’s bedroom, you know that the floor generally becomes a wardrobe wasteland of apocalyptic proportions. Functional organization methods like closet organizers can help, but to truly encourage keeping tidy, try making storage a focal point. Shelves like these turn picking up shoes into a design element, making cleaning up that much more rewarding. This is exceptionally beneficial in a smaller room where every inch of storage space counts, as a bare wall doesn’t provide much utility, and open shelving makes the area feel a bit larger than a looming wardrobe would.

Bold window panels boast a flower pattern that includes lots of bright pink in this girl’s room idea. The custom coverlet’s red embroidery has a refined look that can stay with the room’s pre-kindergarten resident until she reaches college age. A queen-size bed with a custom-designed headboard fills the large area between a closet and dresser on one wall and built-in bookcases and window seats across the room.

All-out glamour, drama and expensive tastes: if that sounds like you (even if your budget is actually small), then you’ll drool over this tiny, perfect, luxe bedroom from RSVP Design Services. What makes it work? The limited color scheme, the reflections from the mirrors and metallics, and the lack of clutter. Perfect.

Vintage themed décor is one of the best teenage bedroom ideas that you can use for your girls. The typical pastel pallet along with vintage floral design on the upholsteries and curtains will add a subtle feminine and elegant element to the entire room décor. To enhance the theme of the room, you can add ottomans and other furniture upholstered in fabrics that give off a vintage hue.

This girl’s bedroom designed by Petite Vintage Interiors features some must-haves for ultimate fun and style for little ones. Pastel colours are great in children’s bedrooms, mixing pastel colours makes it really easy to achieve a scheme that is soothing and still loads of fun. I love the pink and mint features that stand out in this bedroom! Next, the wall stickers are a great addition. They are easier, quicker and cheaper to use than wallpaper. Little dots, triangles or clouds are just some of the many choices available. Making storage fun is also important by using cleverly shaped side tables and shelves. The house-shaped shelf used as a side table here is a great example. And you’ll score highly on the fun factor! Image Credit

Interior designer Samantha Todhunter created this girl’s room in a home in south London by combining a stunning bespoke bed, made like an extended button-back sofa, with a fabulous feature blind, prints and a zebra print rug. One word springs to mind: fun.

Larger products, such as beds and head boards, must be chosen with the concept that they will continue to serve the child for a number of even more years. Wooden headboards are usually the most effective selection for boys. When boys are young, wood head boards can quickly function as the background for a nautical theme or cowboy style; both which are typically quite preferred with young boys. When he outgrows these motifs wood headboards can easily be incorporated right into a more mature theme, specifically with making use of dark strong colors and also plaids.

Love the photos, really gave me some ideas on decorating my next flat. The bedroom in the new property is quite small but the walls are painted in a cream colour – will be easy to pick the right elements to decorate it. Since I’m a tenant, I’ll have to find non-destructive ways of decorating the place. I will also have to think how I’ll remove and clean the place when my tenancy comes to an end, but this isn’t a problem since London is full of shops and I have plenty of things to choose from.

Most of these rooms are okay, but none of them gave me any idea wse on how to redecorate my room. First of all, every single one f these rooms are way bigger then mine. Second of all, who has that kind of money to buy all that expencive looking furnishing?

Shelving is super convenient for toy organization as it doesn’t take up a lot of space and can be placed above dressers, desks, even above the door for hardly used items. Similarly, placing a bookshelf at the foot of the bed doesn’t take up valuable wall space and may even give you another surface near the bed for a lamp or nighttime book.

What fun to see into your girls room! It will also be fun to see the progress you make in them. Maybe you could of had the girls toss a coin over the large room. Leaving it up to chance then dissolves any bitterness towards a parent who made the calll. I heard this parenting advice years ago and it works great in situations like this where there seems to be no right answer. I might add though firstborn children had a special inheritance in bible days. They are the “first fruit” from the womb and God treats them a bit differently. You may want to look it up, it is a bit hard for me to explain. Just so you know I am a middle child, so I have those issues! I am a mom of 4 boys so I know it is hard to treat them equally, and also realize they are different! We have an en-suite bedroom with a bathroom which my oldest used until he moved away from college. Then my 2nd oldest moved in and will be there until he moves out. And so on it will go. It works for us! Have a lovely weekend!

Even when the day is pure chaos, your bedroom is the one place where you should always be able to go and regroup — no kids, no electronics (although they usually find a http://thetraveltrooper.com/news/overstock-clearance-sale-company-stockclearanceguru-celebrates-successful-launch/0052164/ to force themselves in anyway). Still, you can at least give yourself home court advantage by choosing decor you love. These easy, inexpensive ideas should be a good start…

as a 15 year old. i would say a lot of these rooms look like they were designed by some 40 year old women who loves photography, and the outdoors and lives in uptown new jersey. there pathetic. some of them are cute for maybe 10 year olds but they look way to modern and boring.

To maximize the floor space, tuck your bed up against a wall or corner. The effect will create a sleep area that feels cozier. If it feels too much like a college dorm? Add a two headboard corner system to create a finished, designer look to a bedroom.

I love all of these diy ideas an will be using as many in my daughters room – she is 11 an wants a teen room- problem is we live in a single wide trailer- her room is extremely small- I have no idea what to do to make it cool looking an give the wow effect – trying to figure out what colors to paint it so it doesn’t look smaller but give the effect of bigger- walls are Sheetrocked thankfully- she has very small closet an one very wide window– if u or anyone has an ideas or pictures it would be greatly appreciated by both of us–!!! Thank u, Brenda in VT

Wall colors for Ems room – I’m thinking of aqua walls, black furniture and a black/white bed spread. Oh, and my bed is white, and the closet doors and bedroom door will be white. I’m thinking it will work, after seeing this room.

Cool beds for girls don’t need to be castle-shaped or have a slide. Sometimes what makes a bed unique is where it’s placed. In this case, the perfect little nook. A happy shade of pink surrounds a sleeping alcove with year-round freshness. The peony pattern is charming for a young girl, yet mature enough to suit her well into her teen years. For a fun twist, pair girls’ bedroom colors, like pink, with a hint of teal. Here, a scalloped border of robin’s egg blue provides a sweet contrast for this playful pink bedroom.

Artfully display classic toys to soften the look of a neutral room and add soft furnishings such as small armchairs to delineate a play space. Create useful additional storage by adding shelves to a redundant fireplace.

When it comes to teenage girls’ bedrooms, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution. If Mean Girls taught us anything, it’s that teen cliques/ groups/ squads have their own distinct style. And yes, this applies to your teenage girl’s bedroom design ideas as well as her wardrobe choices. If you have more than one teenage girl living at home, then chances are their ideas about decorating are quite different – while one wants brightly coloured walls, patterned accessories or vintage/ shabby-chic florals, the other will hone in on dark wall paint, edgy prints and pieces of rough-luxe design. So, if you’re wondering how to make the transition between princess-style little girls rooms and bedrooms for contrary teens, we figured that you might want a little decorating inspiration.

For a girly look, choose heart bedding and pretty curtains to match. A pink table lamp continues the theme, while furniture in a light-coloured wood is more subtle and won?t overpower the girly furnishings and colour scheme.

When decorating a small bedroom, go for furniture with rounded edges. It will take up less floor space and help widen walkways. Half-circle nightstands and rounded ottomans with hidden storage compartments are the perfect small bedroom accessory.

Shoe horning three children into one bedroom is no mean feat and to pull it off this stylishly is quite a challenge. Three boys inhabit this small room; each has his own super cool platform bed suspended from ropes at differing levels, an individual wall light and artworks adorning their space. A colour palette of earthy grey looks wonderful teamed with natural wood and uplifting warm yellow. Every bed is identically dressed in crisp white linen and highlighted with a textural grey blanket and accented yellow cushion. Each child has an equal portion of the room so sharing should be a joy and not a trial. In fact, I can quite imagine these boys enjoying bed swapping every night! My top tips would be that when furnishing a small room, limit your palette of colours and materials – using too many will visually clutter a room and make it feel much smaller. The adage “less is more” is so true! Also, wall mounting furniture makes a room feel bigger – it’s all about being able to see under and around things that tricks the eye into thinking a space is bigger than it really is. Image Credit

More often than not, people struggle with trying to make the most of limited storage in their bedrooms. One surefire way to combat that issue is by bringing it to the forefront of your design rather than hiding it away. By incorporating these storage solutions into your décor, you can let your belongings serve stylish double-duty.

Very informative article. I highly suggest you check out this. With a few straightforward and practical design changes, you can create extra space or at least an illusion of it in your smaller living space.

I’m all about maximizing the use of space! Maybe, this is of interest, I recently hired Furnishr to design my living room. I know, I could have designed my room by myself, but I actually liked the designs on their site. Pretty great service. A smaller space doesn’t mean smaller furniture. “One of my pet peeves is miniature bedside tables. Especially next to a larger bed frame and mattress—tiny nightstands can look so dorky,” says Humphrey, who advises his clients to buy normal-size furnishings for small spaces. “It can actually make a small room look bigger and will be more useful and functional,” he adds. Humphrey also picks pieces that can do double duty and makes room for essential pieces. “In my own (small) bedroom I don’t have room for a dresser, so I have large nightstands with drawers that hold my clothes,” he says. “And even if it’s a tight fit, I always want at least a small chair in the corner (dining size can work in a pinch) or bench at the end of the bed as a http://business.ridgwayrecord.com/ridgwayrecord/news/read/35871325 for clothes, pillows, or whatever garments get flung around before bed.”

There’s a few things that are key to how you feel when you walk into your bedroom – mainly it comes down to floors, walls, furniture and decoration. If you’re renting you may not be able to touch the floors or walls and will have to work with what you have. If it’s your own house however, you may be wondering which colour to paint the walls so they go with your floors, or so you can make a small bedroom appear bigger. Pay attention to these elements in the photos.

This bedroom is all about the statement canopy bed. Dressed with delicate, soft pink linen drapes and fresh white bedding, it creates the perfect romantic sanctuary to while away a lazy weekend in the country with a good book and good company. This beautiful soft industrial bedroom featured on the cover of the launch issue of Warehouse Home – and it’s been proving very popular! The original features of a warehouse conversion, such as exposed brickwork, can often feel ‘hard’ and ‘masculine’. Old and new steel furniture is especially striking in such spaces but can also feel cold. When styling the Warehouse Home bedroom (above), we wanted to prove that industrial chic can have a soft side. A bespoke galvanised steel pipe bed, designed exclusively for Warehouse Home by Inspirit Deco, was the focal point of our warehouse bedroom. And beside it, a vintage industrial bedside cabinet. We then used a ‘masculine and feminine’ palette of greys and blush pinks and a variety of textured fabrics (linen, tweed, velvet), to bring warmth to our bedroom and soften the industrial look. Select vintage accessories complemented the warehouse conversion’s heritage features, while flowers and decorative vintage glassware further enhanced the “femininity” of the space. Image credit

Give your daughter the royal treatment with a canopied four poster, and pick up on her interests, if she’s a music lover work in the theme (just don’t overkill it as kids can be notoriously prone to changing their minds!).

The color white is an expansive and practical choice for a small bedroom. It keeps the space from looking too busy or boxed in. Using white or lighter colors combats the absence of large wall space or windows to brighten up the space.

While modern and luxurious design ideas often tell you that you need to have a sitting area, small office, or a king size bed in your bedroom, don’t forget that a bedroom’s main function is to be a place to rest and recharge. And you don’t much to create a beautiful space to do so.

I adore these room ideas for young girls. Some are for a little younger girl but my favorite has to be the one with the Audrey Hepburn picture on the wall. Its trendy, flirty, and girly. These ideas are so different I could see many personalities being able to shine through with them.

I stayed at the Ludlow Hotel in New York’s Lower East Side last October and I instantly fell in love with my room. The stark black four-poster bed was the perfect contrast to whitewashed walls and beams. The industrial black window frames were dressed with heavy patterned pleated silk shades. The massive brass pendant lamp, patterned flat-weave rug, sheepskin throws and deeply veined marble coffee tables accented the decor perfectly. And the view of downtown Manhattan was of course unbeatable. Image credit

A school uniform chair would be a truly special feature for any child or teenager’s room – uniform, sports kit, brownies, cubs, a favourite party dress, any outfit can become an eye-catching piece of furniture with a little imagination. Here, I used a digital fabric design and combined it onto my favourite style of armchair. This would work equally well on any style of chair, sofa or interior furnishing! I think this is a wonderfully quirky design that features a fabulous twist on a special part of your child or teenager’s life, making sure that the memories of their happiest years live on forever… Custom-designed chairs, lampshades, cushions and wallpaper designs are a fantastic edition to any child’s bedroom and provide high quality, extremely comfortable pieces that will make your bedroom design truly unique and memorable.

No matter what piques your daughter’s interest, she probably needs plenty of storage for her treasures. Take a cue from the kitchen for organization. Kitchen cabinetry works well in girl’s bedroom designs. Here, semicustom cabinets act as a built-in around the bed, and drawers beneath the bed take advantage of untapped storage space.

This year we decided to give our bedroom a mini makeover. Sometimes a theme wall can do the trick as is the case here where Farrow & Ball’s Dix Blue was used as the background. The room feels light and airy and I won’t deny it, feminine too. The tall headboard of the upholstered bed and the brass accessories give it a luxurious look that is always a pleasure to come back to.

A vibrant headboard upholstered in a mix of patterns makes this girl’s room ultra personal. The shape of the headboard and other girls’ bedroom decor shown here speaks to the creative side of your child. A neutral backdrop of soft gray walls allows the cheery fabrics to shine (you can also use girl’s bedroom wallpaper for this project). Keeping other decor simple in solid colors ensures that pieces can last from childhood well into her teen years; just make sure she is a part of the planning so the bedroom continues to reflect her unique personality!

Most people want their bedroom to be a soothing, restorative retreat. If that’s your goal, then consider green and white for your palette. Add in botanical touches in the bedding, as in the room from Viscusi Elson Interior Design shown here, along with a showstopper sunburst mirror, stylish Roman shades, and cottage-casual white furniture, and the result is a room that calms your mind and refreshes your senses. Beautiful.

Choose different shades of white and cream as a base colour for a girl’s bedroom. You can then accessorise with shots of colour. Then, as your child grows, the style of the room can be easily changed.

Whether in need of a reading nook, a place to gab on the phone, or a simple spot to relax, turning a corner into a soft, whimsical space is a great choice for a teenage girl’s bedroom. This particular design can be emulated with a rounded curtain rod and sheer panel drapes. Paper flowers hung from the ceiling add to the cushy look, while the metallic accent pillows give the space a chic vibe. A high pile shag rug completes the snuggly corner, the perfect intimate space for a girl to enjoy some privacy and de-stress.

Give the structured canopy bed a bohemian update with a more relaxed approach that’s ideal for a teen girls bedroom. White walls and dark wooden furniture offer a neutral base for ethnic-print blinds, bed linen and a makeshift canopy draped over two ceiling-hung poles. A fresh blue or forget-me-not hued base draws together the varied prints, while a spearmint green reading lamp beside the bed freshens the relaxed, deconstructed look.

When choosing the pieces that will decorate your walls, try to keep variety in mind. Play with colors, textures and artistic materials for the artwork itself, and don’t be afraid to mix different sizes, shapes and frame styles.

Thanks, Allyson. They do tend to migrate to the larger room to play. Also because my older daughter is more neat. She would prefer the ‘mess’ of the play be in her sisters room. At first she thought that also meant her sister would have to clean everything up. We had to work on that issue. I remember some friends growing up had done the same thing. The girls had the master bedroom. I always thought that was a combination of fantastic and totally strange! Maybe you guys could find a two story home with a master on each floor. Then you still get a master and so will the girls!

Next, think about what mood you want to evoke. Do you have trouble sleeping? Maybe opt for a calming blue. Do you want to set the mood for romance with your partner? Fuller, darker colours may be a better match then. Consider if you want to have a TV in your bedroom. If yes, do you want it on display or hidden? Or maybe you want to have a little office within your bedroom? You may be better off styling with neutral colours, but putting emphasis on the right inspiring artwork. In that case, you may also need to think of smart storage solutions so you can keep your workspace tidy and not let it interfere with your sleep. Have a browse through our images to get a feel for what appeals to you, and don’t forget to pay attention to lighting as well.

Although your bedroom color scheme is often a personal opinion, there are some paint colors that are more relaxing and better suited for your sleeping area. Studies have found that people with blue bedrooms often get more sleep because of the calmness it elicits. Brighter colors may lead to a better mood, but they also might keep you up longer at night. If you have a significant other with opposing tastes, consider master bedroom colors falling within the neutral range — such as variations of green, gray or brown — to keep everyone happy. Sharing many bedroom pictures that you’ve saved to your ideabook can be a great way to help your significant other get a sense of your bedroom remodeling ideas.

i agree with lily and not any with lizzy cuz if your room is small than make it so that things can fit in your room but most importantly make it so its your style and that you will injoy going in your room every day. plus if you hated your room the way you desinged you would have to spend more cash witch you would not want. i mean these are really good desings that is on the website, and people will love these desings too but others wont but for me i LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE these desings. dont give up cuz of people who dont like these ideas, keep doing what you love cuz people like me love your ideas and other people do to and it would break there heart to know that you quit!!!!:) welp hope to see more of your designs! later! <3 If space is at a premium in your little one's room, try pushing the bed against a wall. With the bed out of the way, she'll have plenty of play space on the floor—which will also prevent toys from cluttering up your living spaces. An upholstered queen-size headboard along the bedside creates the look of a daybed and keeps kids safe from rolling between the bed and the wall while they sleep. We tried having one fall asleep in our room, then moving them when we went to bed. It went like that for a long time. I finally just decided it was dumb to keep having them sleep in our room and that they needed their own rooms. It was a good choice. My girls are still close and we now have kids who get sleep and can function during the day. Yay! Many little girl's bedroom themes can be loud or trendy rather than timeless. If you'd rather avoid them, look for more subtle ways to incorporate a child's interests or hobbies. For a ballet enthusiast, dress the room in shades of pink, plenty of ruffles, and a few nods to her passion, such as a display of tutus and a piece of art, rather than a whole ballet-slipper bedding set and suite of accessories. I love the calming look of this bedroom and the use of natural textures and images. The bedding colour palette of pale grey and blush pink works beautifully together and helps evoke a peaceful atmosphere.  For me, a cosy bedroom incorporates plenty of pillows and cushions on the bed and a throw to add extra warmth, and different textures add interest. The icing on the cake is the stunning forest wall mural. It’s got a magical feel to it and transports you to another place. Even if you’re living in the middle of a city, you’d get that fantastic view when you get out of bed in the morning. Hanging a mirror on the opposite wall would ensure you could see the trees from the bed too! Image credit Use as a feature wall - Black has long been a favoured shade in teenage bedrooms, but these days it’s cropping up just on feature walls, rather than covering floor to ceiling. In a narrow space like this room, it adds depth and draws the eye towards the furniture, rather than the window, which helps the room to feel less corridor-like. WoW! The bedroom by Samantha Pynn is incredible and perfect for us. I got married couple of weeks ago and we’re moving next month to our new apartment. So I was looking for special bedroom decoration ideas and got the perfect one! For the teenage photog, displaying favorite snaps is a source of pride that gives a space a singular uniqueness that can’t be imitated. This sweet design can be incorporated into many teen girl room ideas and serve as a centerpiece of a space. Starting with a small heart and slowly building it up is a fun and meaningful project to share with friends and family, giving the artwork that much more sentimentality. When completed, make it even more of a focal point by “framing” it with icicle lights, realizing a tangible personification of the warm glow the photos’ subjects evoke. It might be tempting to buy the biggest bed possible to feather a luxurious nest. But doing this in a small space tends to cause a more cramped feel. Instead, choose a bed with small stature that won't choke the room, such as an iron bed with a see-through headboard and footboard. Or pick a bed with no footboard at all, such as a platform or storage bed. Doing so will keep the middle of your room open, making it feel larger. Decorating a young boy’s bedroom can in some cases be deemed somewhat of an obstacle; nonetheless, when broken down right into segments decorating a kid’s bedroom can be equally as intriguing as well as very easy as decorating a girl’s bedroom. Listen. I’m seventeen and frankly I don’t know anyone my age who’d actually like one of these rooms (no offense). They all just seem so busy and cluttered. I admit, the loft is totally awesome and having a bathroom in my room would be a dream come true, but next time, try designing something more simplier. That way the teen can decorate it with things THEY like. Sorry for the harsh criticism. 😛 Whether you go for a moody hue or stick to a crisp pale shade, adding plenty of light sources is key to keeping the room from feeling dark and claustrophobic. “Decorative overhead lighting like a pendant or chandelier (instead of ceiling cans), bedside table lamps, a floor lamp, and even reading sconces will add to the ambience,” he says. “Like Andy Warhol said, 'I believe in low lights and trick mirrors.' well, not bad the rooms are quite good i’m13 &i think its nice but seriously get more purchasable rms cause lke my rms are big but not as big as that gush and some of those rms look lke A BOY’S ROOM WHICH I’M NOT SURE THEY WILL LIKE(no offence) by the way HAPPY NEW YEAR guys!!! which is tomorrow or next funny right ha ha ha ha ha ha http://business.smdailypress.com/smdailypress/news/read/35871325 nothing like an in-house retreat to make a child's room more fun. I prefer the cottage/farmhouse look in my home, though I live in a patio apartment. The bedroom above is typical of how I decorate. I’m really into the black, red, gray and white color combination. Also, this bedroom has a lot of textural elements that give it character and charm. The rug on the floor. And the wicker trunk at the end of the bed. I also love anything vintage, and having a piece of furniture that perhaps belonged to grandma fits right in. The red blanket on the wicker trunk looks handy to pull up when you’re reading a book or taking an afternoon nap. My blog is about coziness – so my rooms have to include that element to encompass all that I love about decorating. This is a cozy room. And that’s what I love most about it. Image credit A teen will most appreciate an approach to their room as their mini, self-contained apartment where they can spend most of their time comfortably. Regardless of size, a teen’s bedroom needs to be versatile enough for them to spread out and get homework done, hang with friends, lounge and sleep, all while reflecting their personality. Let’s face it, teenagers and orderly rooms are a rare combination. Messy rooms seem to be a teenager’s rite of passage. Good storage options will be the best feature they didn’t think they needed but will appreciate. So glad you liked seeing all the pics of their rooms. We do something similar. My girls rotate which day is ‘their day.’ On their day, they get to pick where they sit in the car and a few other things. If we have a tie on something, they get to break the tie. Moody, masculine & deliciously unconventional, Scott Newkirk’s New York bedroom is my idea of the perfect retreat. Although carpet is usually the most popular flooring choice for bedrooms, it's hard to keep clean in high-traffic rooms. Rather than going through the motions of having carpet professionally cleaned yearly, it may be a better investment to simply replace wall-to-wall carpet with resilient vinyl plank flooring. Averaging less than $1.50 per square foot, vinyl plank is easy to install by cutting to size with a utility knife, then staggering each plank to create a pattern. As opposed to carpet, which stains easily, vinyl can simply be wiped clean with a sponge. Love the photos, really gave me some ideas on decorating my next flat. The bedroom in the new property is quite small but the walls are painted in a cream colour – will be easy to pick the right elements to decorate it. I will also have to think how I’ll remove and clean the place when my tenancy comes to an end, but this isn’t a problem since London is full of shops and I have plenty of things to choose from. Your first impulse might be to think of the sloped ceiling and cramped space of an attic bedroom as a minus, but instead, embrace it as a plus. When the bed is piled high with quilts, pillows, and shams, and surrounded by simple, yet lovely furnishings as in the adorable country bedroom shown here, the sloped ceiling and limited square footage simply add to the cozy vibe.

Doug and I got completely addicted to this piece of TV genius and are convinced it is going to seriously influence Interior Trends for the next decade – the architecture in Albuquerque is so nice: slightly Mexican with a modern ‘edge’. The artwork above the bed is by my husband, Douglas. His work is our pension. The wire shelving racks are the perfect place to put books, phones and our industrial style inspection lamps. Image credit
