I don’t know about you, but I find that having non-themed rooms in my home is essential to the ever-changing needs of family life. What’s more, themed rooms spells hotel. And do we want to live in a soulless hotel? Thought not. Ask yourself, as children grow out of their beds, share with a sibling or move rooms, could their ‘old’ room be adapted as a snug, study or dining room? The littlies’ needs change so much and so quickly in those first few years, it really makes sense to go for a scheme that is multi-purpose but, most importantly, timeless. Turn convention on its head and experiment. This Farrow & Ball wide stripe is supposed to be hung vertically but I couldn’t resist flipping it ninety degrees. For furniture, see what you can find in flea markets and slap a coat of paint over it, or rummage around in local auction houses. Brown furniture is still well-priced and besides, it is so much more fun for a child to be grabbing their clothes out of an old chest of drawers that has a story to tell, than an identikit piece, hot off the production lines from China. Although they will only appreciate it (there’s always hope) when they move out, taking their ‘old friend’ with them. The overall effect is much more personal and full of character, which is pink rooms for girls ideas makes a home your home.

I wanted this nursery to be a tranquil yet timeless space. The combination of subtle greys, soft pinks and white furniture is timeless and effortlessly stylish and ensures longevity. Taking inspiration from the vintage wallpaper tree art, I have accented this with brighter pinks and lime greens to punctuate the scheme and add freshness. The cotton curtains, have a playful embroidered band across the bottom featuring cats and birds, adding interest and fun to the scheme and contrasting well with the brighter pink linen blind. There is a useful mix of both open and closed storage. Contemporary pieces (such as the bunny nightlight and the grey acrylic storage stool) are mixed with vintage finds (including the wallpaper used for the tree and the antique children’s books) to create a unique room and one that complements the rest of the home. A sweet sanctuary.

When searching flea markets for dressers, keep in mind that nine-drawer and 12-drawer configurations offer enough concealed storage not only for holding clothes, but also for keeping things like books and diaries neatly organized yet out of sight. As tween girls start to yearn for privacy, it’s wise to supply them with storage for things they don’t want out on display.

The IKEA Trofast system and shelves that were in the playroom. I showed you this Trofast system in our playroom reogranization. I also showed you how I labeled it so that it would be easier to keep organized. It has just been moved to this room.

We want to eventually put in sliding closet doors for her closet. We still have the original doors, but they are two doors that swing open. When we used to have them in this room, they were forever knocking into the door to the room and it was just a pain. I think sliding doors are the way to go.

This stylish girl is searching for a whole new look and she’d like to try out some trendy clothing and makeup. You can join her while she goes through these gift boxes for the items she’ll need in this online makeover game.

This is a photo of my 8 year old son’s room, styled and photographed by myself. It’s a modern Breton themed bedroom.  I styled this bedroom in the autumn to bring a fresh, bright and happy feel to the room. I made sure that a cosy feel is maintained, with the soft throw on the bed for bedtime tucking in and the cushion for casual lounging. Everything is positioned conveniently, such as the comforting bedside light, an accessible bedside table for his drink and storage below his table for toys. Next to his bed is a laundry bag which encourages tidiness. To the right of his bed is a large shelf of favourite books, recently converted to his workspace. To the left of his bed is an empty area for running around with friends. Image credit

I adore a nursery that is simple, bright and happy – this space in Australia made me smile the second I spotted it. From the clean white walls (that can be easily touched up when the toddler years start!), bold illustrations on the walls, to the cosy chair with cool cushions for feeding or cuddles, it’s my idea of a gorgeous room. I love that midcentury style cabinet with it’s display of vintage toys and fun artwork. It also offers a useful storage solution for all those little things that constantly need tidying away. If I was going to be decorating a baby’s room again, this is a look I would be completely inspired by. It’s perfect for a girl or a boy and a space that they can grow into too. The only thing I would be looking to add is something hanging from the ceiling. Babies love to look up, so a mobile or a garland would be great above the cot. Image Credit

the rooms look great, can’t wait to see them all finished. Good for inspiration for my daughters room, we moved house about 3 months ago and her room is still very much a work in progress. We have the wallpaper and all the furniture, just need to get busy with the actual decoration. You have really maximized the space in the wardrobe, I may just have to steal that idea for miss 8’s room, thanks for sharing.

Looking to add a little preppy charm to your space? Start with one or two saturated colors like deep magenta and navy blue, then pull it all together with crisp white bordered bedding and accent pieces in a fun chevron print.

In fact, your small bedroom may be a blessing for a better night’s sleep. The American Sleep Association recommends keeping stimulating activities out of the bedroom. They warn that distractions like TV, internet, and work can disrupt your sleep patterns. So, the less there is to do in your bedroom, the more sleep you set yourself up for. How’s that for smart design?

We love this look because of the fresh take on what could potentially be a period interior. The yellow wall brings it bang up-to-date, freshening the space and bringing the whole room to life. The antique touches of mismatched frames, the oversized wooden bed, stripped back floorboards and the old chandelier contrast perfectly with the statement wall giving it oodles of character. The picture rail breaks up the room giving it plenty of height but the patchwork quilt, rug and cushions keep the room cosy. Image credit

Don’t be afraid of the dark! Dark colours have become really cool in interiors and bedrooms are amazing spaces to use them. This dark blue creates a really dramatic space and draws your eye to the crisp white linen and the light of the window. Image credit

No princess will simply have her toys in a regular bin, so you need to make it special. A pink bird’s nest is a cute and cool functional and decorative idea that is not too difficult to bring to life. source.

Her closet still has the curtains on it like we had for the playroom. We had to modify the shelving in the closet to fit clothes as we had built it for a playroom. We used a Rubbermaid closet system that can be easily modified because it has tracks in the walls. You can see what the closet looked like before in my playroom reorganization post. It has detailed pics for you. It cost just a few dollars to change out her closet to hold her clothes and still hold some toys and some homeschool supplies.

I’m really into using dark colours in the bedroom. It creates such an intimate vibe and I find it incredibly relaxing, plus it’s super sophisticated and very glamorous! The designer did a great job in creating a room that incorporates beautiful traditional elements like the panelling and mouldings, but brings it up to date with bold lighting and metallics. To make this room more ‘me’ I’d add a few more POP art elements, calm accent colours and a bit of street chic with the accessories. Image credit

I love the calming and clean atmosphere this space has, which I think is really important for a child’s room. As a Mid Century design geek I love the simple wooden mobile hanging above the cot, the print of the wolf cub matches the earthy tones of the wood and cushion perfectly. I also love the idea of having photography of baby animals in a kid’s room, its just the right amount of cuteness whilst still feeling a little grown up. I’m a big fan of Middle eastern textiles and I really like the slight juxtaposition of the candy coloured persian rug and monochrome block printed throw. I chose this image as it has a great balance of mature style with cute elements and I think a room like this could be easily adapted as the child grows up. Image Credit

This girl’s bedroom designed by Petite Vintage Interiors features some must-haves for ultimate fun and style for little ones. Pastel colours are great in children’s bedrooms, mixing pastel colours makes it really easy to achieve a scheme that is soothing and still loads of fun. I love the pink and mint features that stand out in this bedroom! Next, the wall stickers are a great addition. They are easier, quicker and cheaper to use than wallpaper. Little dots, triangles or clouds are just some of the many choices available. Making storage fun is also important by using cleverly shaped side tables and shelves. The house-shaped shelf used as a side table here is a great example. And you’ll score highly on the fun factor! Image Credit

Your first impulse might be to think of the sloped ceiling and cramped space of an attic bedroom as a minus, but instead, embrace it as a plus. When the bed is piled high with quilts, pillows, and shams, and surrounded by simple, yet lovely furnishings as in the adorable country bedroom shown here, the sloped ceiling and limited square footage simply add to the cozy vibe.

A school uniform chair would be a truly special feature for any child or teenager’s room – uniform, sports kit, brownies, cubs, a favourite party dress, any outfit can become an eye-catching piece of furniture with a little imagination. Here, I used a digital fabric design and combined it onto my favourite style of armchair. This would work equally well on any style of chair, sofa or interior furnishing! I think this is a wonderfully quirky design that features a fabulous twist on a special part of your child or teenager’s life, making sure that the memories of their happiest years live on forever… Custom-designed chairs, lampshades, cushions and wallpaper designs are a fantastic edition to any child’s bedroom and provide high quality, extremely comfortable pieces that will make your bedroom design truly unique and memorable.

Vintage vanity is on the list for Squiggles’ room. I like the color of this one: Fresh coat of paint on vanity and recovering with a fun Amy Butler coral/orange print. Love keeping the furniture that I grew up with and giving it new life for Ava’s room.

Anyone who reads my blog will know that I ADORE dark, moody, inky walls so this bedroom image caught my attention immediately! Pairing that gorgeous deep teal paint with the rose pinks gives the room a feminine touch without it being ‘too girly’. The off-centered image gives a quirky touch and the white frame contrasts beautifully against the dark background making the image pop all the more. The teal blanket beautifully ties in with the paint, brightening the space, and the marble print cushion adds texture and is perfectly on trend! This bedroom is a grown up, beautifully modern, luxurious space that I would love to sink into. The only thing I would change would be the size of the headboard, the bigger the headboard the better in my eyes! Image credit

Accent colors are all the rage, but they don’t just have to be on your walls. Bring the brightness to your furniture by painting the backs, shelves, or sides (or all of the above!) of bookcases a festive hue, like this fun and funky gray and pastel pink bookshelf. The same concept can be applied to a number of different pieces of furniture, like the drawers of dressers or the legs of desks. Feel free to go wild; there’s no place better suited to be coated with color than a teenage girl’s bedroom. Be bright and bold with your choices, or opt for more subtle and muted shades— either way, contrasting colors are a trendy and fashionable choice when it comes to teen girl room ideas.

I actuallly really like these rooms, there really neat. But in case you havn’t noticed alot of teen girls(or at least the ones i know), aren’t exactly up there on the money scale. i mean there not broke, but they cant go buy stuff like this for an affordable price. And usually the ones who can, well they dont use the internet for there bedroom ideas. They probably use the months top teen room magazine or somthing like I’m just saying, the girls that actually use this site for ideas probably wouldnt be able to use this stuff. Maybey a more realistic list of teen room would be better for our use. Besides real talent is making your room look amazing with a small bugdet. Being creative!

WoW! The bedroom by Samantha Pynn is incredible and perfect for us. I got married couple of weeks ago and we’re moving next month to our new apartment. So I was looking for special bedroom decoration ideas and got the perfect one!

If you’re after a particular style, finding a piece that fits perfectly with your ideal can be an epic struggle. In the case of this shabby chic mirror, one would have been hard-pressed to find something akin to this particular Renaissance design in the modern day. Rather than settle on a less desirable piece, this gorgeous mirror was hand-crafted from an old door, transformed into a mirror frame. Finding an old door to refurbish also grants the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind piece, and will more than likely carry a much less hefty price tag than a similar antique or antique-inspired article.

No matter what piques your daughter’s interest, she probably needs plenty of storage for her treasures. Take a cue from the kitchen for organization. A child’s room is so much more than just a place to sleep – it’s a bedroom, playroom, study area and even somewhere to store clothes, books and toys. It’s a little boy or little girl’s chance to have their own space, which often feels magical to them, where they can play safely and happily, and also do their school homework.

In this electrifying makeover game, you’re one of the city’s best tattoo artists. Four girls are coming to your shop today to get some fresh ink. Can you help each one of them pick a design that’s perfect for them based on their hobbies and interests? Once that’s all squared away, you’ll want to get to work and make sure that they’re calm and comfortable before you begin.

Every room needs a focal point, an eye-catching spot that establishes a hierarchy so you don’t see just a jumble. Many times, the focal point is the head of the bed, which you can amplify with an arrangement of bold pillows. When organizing small spaces, your eye might also be attracted to the window. Rather than let these two strong elements compete for attention, place the bed in front of the window to meld cohesively. Or, dress one element—the bed or the window—neutrally, so it recedes and the other can take center stage.

Typically when your daughter becomes a teenager she will no longer want to have her room filled with pictures of fairies, stuffed animals, or princess decorations. Instead she will begin looking for sophisticated teenage girl room ideas and designs so she can revamp her space with more mature décor. Whether it be new bedding, a fresh coat of paint, or even updated furniture, redecorating can become costly so you may want to look for cheap room ideas for teenagers. For example, painting old furniture yourself is a quick, inexpensive, and easy way to create a new and custom look. Paint the furniture a rustic pink color and then distress it to create an elegant and vintage look that is very popular among new 2017 bedroom design trends. Other fads for a tween bedroom include bright colors, geometric wall art, and modern furniture pieces. Storage space is an essential component of all teen girl room decoration so make sure to look for shelving units, trunks, and dressers. Search our online photo galleries for images of cool teenage girl bedrooms and creative storage ideas.

A black and white colour scheme isn’t usually associated with kids’ rooms but, if your daughter’s not a girly-girl, a monochrome palette, accessorised with bright hues in green or red, is a great alternative to pinks.

We tried having one fall asleep in our room, then moving them when we went to bed. It went like that for a long time. I finally just decided it was dumb to keep having them sleep in our room and that they needed their own rooms. It was a good choice. My girls are still close and we now have kids who get sleep and can function during the day. Yay!

Of course, the first textiles that spring to mind are the bedding. But don’t just settle for any set. Layer multiple materials — think down, silk and shearling — to create a space that you never want to leave. Then, warm up the rest of the room by putting down a throw rug or adding a blanket to your seating area.

Look to your attic for space to grow, like in this little girl’s bedroom design. If a remodel is involved, tailor the basics of the room to suit your home’s style. For example, if you have a farmhouse, use warm, rustic wood on the walls and floor. That way, the space will blend seamlessly with the rest of the home should it be used for another purpose down the road.

When choosing the pieces that will decorate your walls, try to keep variety in mind. Play with colors, textures and artistic materials for the artwork itself, and don’t be afraid to mix different sizes, shapes and frame styles.

Make tidying up more fun with pretty fabric storage boxes slotted into a white-painted unit. A large scale wall sticker picks up on the colours of the boxes to turn the storage area into a focal point.

Bee a little eccentric with a wacky honeycomb themed wall. This unconventional design is perfect for a teen girl who wants room ideas that feature lots of colors. A ranging color palette might otherwise overwhelm a room, but done in a funky way like this, a bevy of colors is more quirky than overpowering. The progression along the color from fully saturated to white contributes to this virtue, a technique easily replicated by mixing in increasing amounts of white paint as you move down the wall.

Country style bedrooms: Neutral shades for painted walls are essential for country style bedrooms, and white with a hint of lilac, blue or green helps to create a softer look. Floral printed bedroom wallpaper works well on feature walls too. Pine or all white furniture are popular choices for the country style.

Colourful and quirky, everything in this room – from the red squiggle wallpaper to the animal print textiles, owl rug and paper hanging mobile – is fun, which is just what a little girl’s room should be.

Klopf Architecture, Arterra Landscape Architects and Henry Calvert of Calvert Ventures Designed and built a new warm, modern, Eichler-inspired, open, indoor-outdoor home on a deeper-than-usual San Mateo Highlands property where an original Eichler house had burned to the ground. The owners wanted multi-generational living and larger spaces than the original home offered, but …

Try this little girl’s room idea for a shared bedroom or a bedroom with space for sleepovers. A curved design prevents the white built-in bunks from feeling bulky, while a smattering of carpet tiles add bright, fun color and soften the room’s flooring. Using carpet tiles is a smart move with girls that love to do arts and crafts; if there is a permanent stain on one tile, simply replace it.

Soft colors and classic style will keep this girl’s room timeless for years to come. Neutral walls and furniture create a sense of unity and allow patterned bedding and window treatments to be the center of attention. A pattern that isn’t too age-specific allows for her creativity to shine in wall art and painting hung around the room. Lighting treatments are similar with neutral bases and lampshades that can easily be switched out at a low cost.

Creating your own headboard with easily accessible materials such MDF (medium density fiberboard), foam, fabric glue and a staple gun will have you feeling like a true craftsman in no time. Shoe horning three children into one bedroom is no mean feat and to pull it off this stylishly is quite a challenge. Three boys inhabit this small room; each has his own super cool platform bed suspended from ropes at differing levels, an individual wall light and artworks adorning their space. A colour palette of earthy grey looks wonderful teamed with natural wood and uplifting warm yellow. Every bed is identically dressed in crisp white linen and highlighted with a textural grey blanket and accented yellow cushion. Each child has an equal portion of the room so sharing should be a joy and not a trial. In fact, I can quite imagine these boys enjoying bed swapping every night! My top tips would be that when furnishing a small room, limit your palette of colours and materials – using too many will visually clutter a room and make it feel much smaller. The adage “less is more” is so true! Also, wall mounting furniture makes a room feel bigger – it’s all about being able to see under and around things that tricks the eye into thinking a space is bigger than it really is. Image Credit

Here is a unique decoration idea for your room; place your desk and chair in front of a window and hang some colorful curtains around your little in-room getaway. Preferably, add some drawers and cabinets, so you can keep your things tucked away. You can use this corner to get over with your assignments and homework.

Girl’s bedrooms are certainly not relegated to frilly beds and all-over pink decors any longer. Today’s girls bedrooms are as varied as each girl’s personality with styles, colors and motifs in an endless range of possibilities. From baby girls nurseries to young girls bedrooms to preteen girls rooms to teen girls bedrooms, you’ll find a room design and ideas for every stage of a girl’s childhood. Additionally, the 100 girls rooms designs, tips and photos we feature here come from around the world, so you’re sure to find a design that has your little or big girl’s name written all over it!

Rustic style bedrooms: Rustic style bedrooms are all about solid wood, which can be used with bed frames, timber walls, flooring and even ceilings. Rustic bedroom décor combines well with minimalist designs. White walls, black and white furniture and green accents, large wall hangings and accessories, combine perfectly with hardwood flooring, for medium to large sized bedrooms.

More often than not, bedrooms tend to be neutral spaces. After all, who doesn’t want to create a calming environment when a good night’s rest is on the line? But when you have neutral walls and bedding, accent pieces become that much more critical for creating a balanced design.

• In your girl’s bedroom , you have to choose your girls favorite bedroom decorating ideas and themes , some girls like evening themes as the moon , so you need to use (blues, whites and yellows) , other like day themes as the sun, and others may prefer a seashore theme, so you need to use the sea shore elements as (a sandy brown carpet for the floor, a blue colored bed sheet for the bed and white pillows).if your girl like the summer time season, so you need to have some yellow shade to the overall theme , and then decorating with seashore parts comparable to starfish, angel fish and clown fish, these themes will revive your girl’s bedroom decorating ideas.

If you have young daughters sharing a bedroom, give each a say in how that room is decorated, but be prepared to step in as the final word. Some children like to personalize their section of the room; others like to match. Just be sure that each girl has an area to store her favorite possessions, and there is enough desk space for both to do homework at the same time. This adorable space from Finnian’s Moon Interiors uses a peaceful palette of green, blue, and soft gray.

When it comes to shades for a spare bedroom, attempt to maintain the colors as neutral and also tranquil as possible. This will certainly provide you a tranquil setting where to function and supply a tranquil place for your guests to remainder. To ensure lots of storage area in addition to floor area, consider utilizing a portion of the storage room to keep office products and referral books while reserving the various other section of the storage room for your guests to hang clothing. This will certainly remove the should occupy a lot of flooring space with racks. You might even find that you have enough space left over to create a little seating location.

A net of interlocking ribbons attached to blank walls is a great way to display your favorite photos, postcards or other paper memorabilia. Plus, the art can be switched out at any time to suit changing moods, styles or tastes.

Amarillo fuerte y blanco, amarillo suave y naranja vivo, amarillo suave y azul suave, amarillo y verde.

When it comes to bedroom decorating ideas, your options are endless. When nailing down your bedroom design, it’s helpful to start by tackling the more permanent things, like furniture. Artwork and photographs that put you at ease are a great addition (although some advise against having family photos around, as they can hinder that “sexy bedroom” vibe), and mirrors are a must-have if you use the space for dressing. When considering bedroom ideas, bedding is always important — your duvet and decorative pillows should play nicely with the paint color and bedroom wall decor, but can also be swapped out easily, which makes it easy to incorporate an interesting print or texture. Lastly, add some accessories to style your nightstand or dresser; just be careful not to go overboard — too many knickknacks can make your room feel cluttered and disorganized, which can actually cause sleep trouble. If you keep these bedroom decorating ideas and color considerations in mind you should be well on your way to creating the perfect bedroom design.

When it comes to feng shui bedrooms, a free-flowing layout is crucial. The ideal placement for your bed is as far away from the door as possible, but still in a position that lets you see the entrance; usually, the corner diagonally across from the door is the best spot. Try and avoid having your head under a window due to the ebb and flow of energy going in and out; this causes disturbed and interrupted sleep. Do not position your bed so as to have your feet point out the door while you’re sleeping; this is called the “Death Position” as the deceased are carried out feet first, and sleeping this way is said to drain your life force.

Proper wall art is vital to every space, but it may be even more important in bedrooms where there are typically fewer design elements to add visual interest. Whenever possible, use wall décor to anchor each of the distinct function areas in your space, such as above the bed, beside some seating and in the dressing space. Then, add other artwork to any walls that feel too blank.

I love the calming look of this bedroom and the use of natural textures and images. The bedding colour palette of pale grey and blush pink works beautifully together and helps evoke a peaceful atmosphere.  For me, a cosy bedroom incorporates plenty of pillows and cushions on the bed and a throw to add extra warmth, and different textures add interest. The icing on the cake is the stunning forest wall mural. It’s got a magical feel to it and transports you to another place. Even if you’re living in the middle of a city, you’d get that fantastic view when you get out of bed in the morning. Hanging a mirror on the opposite wall would ensure you could see the trees from the bed too! Image credit

Ideally, a bedroom should be a clean, minimal space for you to unwind in, but I also love how creativity has crept into this Scandi interior. Full of personality, this scrapbook/shelving arrangement complements the DIY aesthetic of the room and accompanies the hanging bulb light fixture perfectly. Framed pictures are non-existent but instead, a quick fix of inspirational imagery taped to the wall is the ultimate effortless decorative feature. I like how black accents can be detected from the tape, light and bedside table; bringing all of the decorations together, but still harnessing that spontaneous element. Image credit

Looking for a sophisticated palette that manages to be both masculine and glamorous at the same time? Then consider the combination of chocolate brown and white. Amp it up further with a small chandelier, a patterned rug and white bedding, and the result is pure splendor.

If wallpaper  is your or your child’s preference, decide whether this will cover every wall or be a feature on one wall. Wallpaper can be a trickier option than paint, as themed designs may not always be flavour of the month in years to come, so they might need to be updated relatively frequently.

What a view! Admittedly, only a lucky few can call an ocean front bedroom their own. However, this bedroom is not just about the view. In my opinion it perfectly interprets what I call the key elements of successful bedroom design: clean lines and uncluttered surfaces in combination with warm materials, rich textures and soothing colours. Add a few pools of light and you got yourself the perfect recipe for a cosy haven of relaxation. In this particular bedroom they took it a further notch up by adding the element of fire, creating a truly harmonious environment and perfect balance. Image credit

These are few of the many bedroom décor ideas available for your girls. Remember, girls just as easy to please and just as hard to make happy. To make your task easier, here are 51 stunning and most beautiful twin girls bedroom ideas for you to choose from and use them for your girls bedroom.

When I began Benji’s room, it was all about getting to know him. Benji has a twin brother so I wanted to make sure when designing their rooms that their different personalities were expressed.  I soon found out that Benji’s favourite color was blue, so blue was a must. I also found out that Benji was interested in travel, the world, and had a very inquisitive mind. These two details were then the theme for my design. I used a large blue rug so that blue was prominent in his room but I didn’t want it to be dark and dreary so I chose a yellow to lift the blue and then used accents of both blue and yellow around the room. To inspire his travel goals, I added a world map on one wall and commissioned a small hand painted compass mural on another wall. I love this space as it’s light, bright, stylish and still reflects Benji’s fun, adventurous personality

Cool beds for girls don’t need to be castle-shaped or have a slide. Sometimes what makes a bed unique is where it’s placed. In this case, the perfect little nook. A happy shade of pink surrounds a sleeping alcove with year-round freshness. The peony pattern is charming for a young girl, yet mature enough to suit her well into her teen years. For a fun twist, pair girls’ bedroom colors, like pink, with a hint of teal. Here, a scalloped border of robin’s egg blue provides a sweet contrast for this playful pink bedroom.

Tip: If your child wants a specific theme, aim for elements that can be interpreted multiple ways. Here, the parents chose to leave the monkeys, elephants, and clowns at the real circus and instead incorporated a tent theme that can be worked into other decor as the years go on.

Anyone who has ever lived in a major city has probably had their share of small-bedroom woes. (Why is it that the room expected to hold the largest piece of furniture is often one of the tiniest?) It may seem like your options are confined to squeezing in a bed and—if you’re lucky—a nightstand, but there are ways to pack plenty of style into your limited space. Also, don’t overlook the benefits. “I actually prefer smaller bedrooms to larger ones,” says Portland, Oregon, designer Max Humphrey, whose own bedroom is on the small side. “They’re cozier and you don’t have to waste money furnishing a room with a seating area no one will ever use.” If you’re ready to embrace your small bedroom, check out Humphrey’s tips for making the most of it.

Once the basics are in place, decorating is where the fun begins. Choose a feature to be the focus of your room. That can be a beautifully upholstered headboard, a fancy mirror, a few indoor plants, or simple and clean white bedding combined with a fluffy rug.

Make study and homework time more appealing by adding a sleek, grown-up desk to her bedroom. Pretty jars will keep pencils, pens and markers in place and add decorative appeal. Keep the top of the desk cleared off to inspire a welcoming workspace. Design by HGTV fan nu2tn

Most bedrooms function as living and playing spaces, which means decorating needs to work double-duty. Choose a rich color, like this terra-cotta, and introduce accents in natural tones to keep the room feeling warm and comfortable.

When decorating a tween girl’s room, don’t be afraid to pack it with pattern. Introduce different prints by layering patterns similar in color yet different in scale. An excellent rule of thumb is to stick with one large-, one medium- and one small-scale pattern. This will ensure the layered look appears balanced rather than busy.

Give your daughter the royal treatment with a canopied four poster, and pick up on her interests, if she’s a music lover work in the theme (just don’t overkill it as kids can be notoriously prone to changing their minds!).

Turquoise blue girl’s bedroom features a white feather chandelier, Eos White Pendant, illuminating a white wingback bed dressed in pale blue bedding as well as blue and purple paisley pillows tucked under an eclectic art gallery placed next to casement wi

If you choose to decorate your bedroom with one hue, be sure to vary the shades to create a calming vibe. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns (florals and stripes live well together) to add visual interest.

Moody, masculine & deliciously unconventional, Scott Newkirk’s New York bedroom is my idea of the perfect retreat. He has created a surprisingly luxurious getaway which is both atmospheric & calming. Image credit

Creating a play area that both siblings can enjoy, even simultaneously, is super helpful, especially for tired mommies and daddies. Floor mats, cushions and soft larger items like a rocking horse and tents are perfect to outline the area and fun for both to play in. To create a (literal) statement piece, larger than life letters like these brilliant burnished brass creations immediately draw the eye. Paired with natural elements like a faux bird’s nest and flower wreath, the juxtaposition of man-made metallics and earthy organics produces an interesting dynamic that’s extremely pleasing to look at. Hung over a dresser, the curious clash of opposing aspects makes for a charming and attractive focal point. Top the dresser with more metallics and natural pieces, like this tree trunk stand and simple silver alarm clock, to further perpetuate the aesthetic.

A ti q te parece??

¡No fallarás!
