Every inch of a little princess’s room has to be decked out to perfection, and the ceiling is no exception to that rule. The fabric that hangs draped here is a great match for the decoration and an even better background for the beautiful chandelier that hangs in its center. frostedpetticoatblog.

A foundation of sleek white offers a modern look for this girl’s room, while vivid sherbet green and lipstick pink add youthful personality. While a two-color scheme is simple, sometimes adding a third color can make a kid’s room sing. This also lets you incorporate a favorite, of-the-moment color. In this girl’s bedroom idea, bedding with the room’s pink and green scheme features a bit of blue, which also makes a splash on the storage boxes atop the dresser.

Prior to this tween girl’s bedroom redesign, the walls were covered in bright lilac paint, which gave it more of a little girl’s identity. In order to make it cool enough for a tween yet classic enough for parents, the space would be painted a dark shade of violet, the dated wall-to-wall carpet would be replaced with gray-toned vinyl plank flooring and the childish furniture would be swapped out for colorful vintage pieces.

Can this possibly be the perfect bedroom? Let’s talk about the colour. This bedroom has the ever so popular grey wall. It’s modernised by adding a touch of yet another grey that has the slightest hint of a muted lavender. It’s pleasing to both men and women because this colour palette falls right smack in the middle of the appeal for both sexes. The black adds a nice masculinity and grounding to the room shown in the strong stripe of the area rug and gorgeous texture in the frames. The hard lines of the end tables are softened by soft white fabrics and an undulated headboard which add femininity to this space. Plush carpets work well for bedrooms. Although they offer comfort and luxury, carpets are dust traps and have to be cleaned regularly. Stains can be difficult to remove and they are not durable as hardwood floors. If you choose to use hardwood flooring, be sure to invest in good quality area rugs as they can help to soften the look of the bedroom and add warmth. Tiles are another option, and work well in hot climate regions, as they help to keep the place cool. Vinyl and laminate flooring are also options worth considering for the bedroom.

I love the diversity in this post. You can find inspiration for everything – from cosy and snuggly bedrooms to dark and mysterious ones. Especially liked the one with the wall mural, feels like sleeping in the forest, out in the fresh and crisp air. I remember seeing a similar design but with rain clouds. I think natural wall murals bring peace and serenity to the bedroom.

No matter what piques your daughter’s interest, she probably needs plenty of storage for her treasures. Take a cue from the kitchen for organization. Kitchen cabinetry works well in girl’s bedroom designs. Here, semicustom cabinets act as a built-in around the bed, and drawers beneath the bed take advantage of untapped storage space.

There are many different steps to decorating a kids room that begin with deciding on a theme and end with choosing what color you wish to adorn the walls with. Obviously you have multiple choices for decorating the walls of your childs bedroom, however the two most popular options are wallpaper and paint. While wallpaper comes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and textures, it tends to be a much more tedious process small girls bedroom loft more permanent results. Removing it takes a lot of time and effort, and can also damage your walls. Paint, on the other hand, does not take a lot of time to apply and can easily become a do it yourself project. Plus, as cartoon characters and games become more popular, companies are creating paint colors for girls room that are based off of popular kids shows such as Dora the Explorer and toy brands like Fischer Price. Paint a bright pink and purple girls room that has wall decals of Swiper and Boots or choose a more subtle green that is found in the popular baby brand Luv U Zoo.

Thanks! Yes, they have worked. They both stayed on no problem as well as could be moved if needed. It was really nice. I’ve since sold the Trofasts as my girls have moved toward older girls rooms. 🙁 Hope you find something that will work for you. 🙂

This simple platform bed welcomes guests with cozy organic linens. The natural feel is enhanced by a tree trunk bedside table, lots of natural light streaming through large windows, and a door that leads to the back patio.

If space is at a premium in your little one’s room, try pushing the bed against a wall. With the bed out of the way, she’ll have plenty of play space on the floor—which will also prevent toys from cluttering up your living spaces. An upholstered queen-size headboard along the bedside creates the look of a daybed and keeps kids safe from rolling between the bed and the wall while they sleep.

Hitting the books might be a chore, but in a room as fun as this, homework time just might get a little easier. A large desk and office chair, with storage bins beneath, create a work zone. But when it’s time for fun, ample seating, a fun color scheme, and whimsical touches turn this room into a space for giggling with friends.

Ballerinas are pretty to look at and little girls simply love them, so having a painting or mural of dancers is a great idea for a little princess’s room. You don’t need to be able to design or paint yourself, because these are fairly easy to come by, even as digital prints, nowadays. source.

When it comes to bedroom decorating ideas, your options are endless. When nailing down your bedroom design, it’s helpful to start by tackling the more permanent things, like furniture. Artwork and photographs that put you at ease are a great addition (although some advise against having family photos around, as they can hinder that “sexy bedroom” vibe), and mirrors are a must-have if you use the space for dressing. When considering bedroom ideas, bedding is always important — your duvet and decorative pillows should play nicely with the paint color and bedroom wall decor, but can also be swapped out easily, which makes it easy to incorporate an interesting print or texture. Lastly, add some accessories to style your nightstand or dresser; just be careful not to go overboard — too many knickknacks can make your room feel cluttered and disorganized, which can actually cause sleep trouble. If you keep these bedroom decorating ideas and color considerations in mind you should be well on your way to creating the perfect bedroom design.

In newer construction, drywall is normally hollow and supported by vertical 2x 4 wood beams (studs) that are 16” apart. If your bed is set up on a non-exterior wall, use a stud finder to mark where your bed’s wood wall beams are and cut out an alcove. Your new alcove may not be incredibly deep, but it may be all you need for small necessities like an alarm clock or some personal items.

Unless you have a budget that permits new furniture every few years, you’ll want to choose a bedroom set that grows up with your daughter. The room shown here is delightful now — what young girl wouldn’t love all the polka dots and the wonderful dog poster?  — but the basic white furniture will have no problem handling a more mature palette, bedding, and accessories when the teen years arrive.

This is the guest bedroom at a client’s penthouse in the centre of Barcelona. I love the colour scheme and all the fabrics used. It feels like you’re on a holiday in a beautiful hotel when you’re in this bedroom. It has an en-suite with a double shower so that you can shower at the same time as your partner, I thought this would be romantic. The velvet, the suede, the silk, the divine fabrics and tones used in this bedroom are an entire world of calming, soothing, touchy feely goodness. Lots of kids want a rainbow-bright bedroom, and why not? If your daughter loves color, but not necessarily all pink, keep the floors, the furniture and the walls (other than perhaps one accent wall) neutral, and then go wild on the bedding, small furnishings and accessories. A crazy-bright accent wall mural is another fun touch that works in a child’s space, but is too much for the master bedroom. This adorable room was found on Craft-O-Maniac.

I love this bedroom – it was one of the first I designed and the brief was to create an elegant and serene sanctuary. The soft Cornforth White walls combined with the decadent wallpaper by Tapet Café really do complement one another and create a very soothing mood. The Vogue print adds the perfect ‘pop’ of colour and the large mirror reflects a lot of light into the space. The chandelier by Verner Panton completes the look and adds decadence. Image credit

Shelving is super convenient for toy organization as it doesn’t take up a lot of space and can be placed above dressers, desks, even above the door for hardly used items. Similarly, placing a bookshelf at the foot of the bed doesn’t take up valuable wall space and may even give you another surface near the bed for a lamp or nighttime book.

A warm chocolate-brown focal wall adds an adult edge in this girl’s bedroom. She kept the linens ultra-neutral to offset the bold color combination.

Lighting offers an opportunity to add personality while also introducing different styles and design eras. When it comes to tween girl’s rooms, vintage light fixtures are almost always a sure-fire hit. As retro styles become increasingly popular for tween and teen girls, it’s smart to consider searching local flea markets and thrift stores for fixtures from the 1960s and 1970s. This brass and smoked Lucite chandelier is from the mid-1970s and is considered a modern classic. Should the tween girl grow tired of it, the fixture can be used in another area of the house or, since vintage pieces hold their value, it can be sold online through a vintage consignment mega-site.

A tiny swatch won’t do white paint justice. Nail your pick by coating a poster board with the potential hue, and see how it looks during the day and at night. Here, a warmer tone keeps the bedroom glam yet cozy.

To complement your underlying palette, layer complementary colors and patterns on top of that. For example in a grey and white room, try accenting with yellow accessories. For patterns, lean towards stripes, chevron or solids with large geometric shape(s).

For a designer-worthy look, choose a simple color palette of three to four neutral hues and a single, bright accent color like the eye-catching pink in this chic bedroom. Add interest with a variety of bold, trendy patterns and cozy textures like cotton, faux fur, knits, etc.

A school uniform chair would be a truly special feature for any child or teenager’s room – uniform, sports kit, brownies, cubs, a favourite party dress, any outfit can become an eye-catching piece of furniture with a little imagination. Here, I used a digital fabric design and combined it onto my favourite style of armchair. A simple closet or wardrobe just won’t do for a princess. The big debate was over who was getting what room. That was such a hard decision. I know lots of people just give the oldest child what they want. Being a youngest child, I don’t like that philosophy. I don’t know why being born first means you should get everything you want and being born later means you shouldn’t even be asked what you want.

Although the internet and home decorating magazines are great resources for girls room designs, ideas and pictures for this space can be found in unexpected places. Get inspiration from childhood story books, your daughter’s favorite movie, or even popular television shows. However the best, and most important resource for unique girls room design ideas such as castle themes, Barbie decorations, or mermaid inspired décor, will be your daughter herself. Regardless of how old she is, most young girls will have some sort of preference towards what is put in their room, whether it be for the color you paint the walls, the art you hang on the walls, or the covers you put on the bed. So try to involve your daughter in the decoration process by having her look at online pictures of kids rooms with you, tag along with you while you search department stores for childrens bedding, or even come with you to the home improvement store to find paint samples. With her help you will be able to make your little girls room makeover a fun and exciting task.

Designate areas in a bedroom for specific purposes. A cozy bench by the window is a sunny spot for reading. Big baskets on a shelving unit house toys and books in a central location. A small table in the center of the room can be set for tea with friends or can be used as a work area for art projects or studying.

The first step in decorating any kind of bedroom, whether it is the bedroom, your child’s bedroom or an extra guest area is to check out the layout of the area. While it would certainly be wonderful everything bed rooms were sizable this is not always the case. Some rooms are bigger compared to others, some include blockages that need to be functioned around as well as some just have a strange design. Regardless of the layout; however, you could typically find a distinct method which to make the space so that it feels fresh and intriguing.

A teenage girl bedroom would mostly look beautiful and a place to take refuge in when it is given a royal touch. A daughter or in our case here, twin daughters, are princess for their parents. Giving them a room with a royal theme only enhances that bond. Beautifully draped beds and footstools make up a great sleeping area. You can add vintage mirrors along with royal upholstery in the room.

If you’re in the market for a new bed, consider a bed with drawers underneath for extra storage. If space is so limited that drawers may not open easily, use decorative bins under your bed for additional storage. We love milk crates and other woven baskets that hold up well and look great doing it.

To create a (literal) statement piece, larger l configuration girls bedroom life letters like these brilliant burnished brass creations immediately draw the eye. Paired with natural elements like a faux bird’s nest and flower wreath, the juxtaposition of man-made metallics and earthy organics produces an interesting dynamic that’s extremely pleasing to look at. Hung over a dresser, the curious clash of opposing aspects makes for a charming and attractive focal point. Top the dresser with more metallics and natural pieces, like this tree trunk stand and simple silver alarm clock, to further perpetuate the aesthetic.

Keeping the walls white in a girl’s bedroom will give you more decorating flexibility, which will help keep up with her constantly changing style. Have fun mixing and matching: Combine pink and red and introduce graphic prints and florals.

In our family it’ll be an easy decision. When we eventually buy a house, the largest bedroom will go to all 5 girls (even if it’s the master), Tim and I will get the medium sized room, and our one son will have the smallest room. 🙂 Of course it could get more confusing if we end up with more than 3 bedrooms, but I think we’d still stick with this plan and make the fourth (smallest) room a office or school storage room.

So glad you liked seeing all the pics of their rooms. We do something similar. You guys, this post has been a long time in making it onto the blog. It goes back to March to be exact. A bit over 4 months ago, we moved our girls rooms around. I’ve got tons of pictures for you today. I’m hoping you enjoy them and that maybe they can give you some girls bedroom ideas for your own house.

Every girl dreams of being a princess, at least at some point of their lives. But while princesses are real, fairytales aren’t and little girls can’t really go live “in a land far, far away”. Or can they?

For a designer-worthy look, choose a simple color palette of three to four neutral hues and a single, bright accent color like the eye-catching pink in this chic bedroom. Add interest with a variety of bold, trendy patterns and cozy textures like cotton, faux fur, knits, etc.

I have a thing for fairytales and so I always seek for that ‘happily ever after’ look in my home. With its tactile textures, warming beige tones and flowing covers, this bedroom is the epitome of a bed that’s fit for a princess and her prince – or me and my fiancé. It’s clear that the main focus of the room is the bed itself and so, as I believe that you can never have enough scatter cushions either, this scene truly is my ideal bedroom.

Typically when your daughter becomes a teenager she will no longer want to have her room filled with pictures of fairies, stuffed animals, or princess decorations. Instead she will begin looking for sophisticated teenage girl room ideas and designs so she can revamp her space with more mature décor. Whether it be new bedding, a fresh coat of paint, or even updated furniture, redecorating can become costly so you may want to look for cheap room ideas for teenagers. For example, painting old furniture yourself is a quick, inexpensive, and easy way to create a new and custom look. Paint the furniture a rustic pink color and then distress it to create an elegant and vintage look that is very popular among new 2017 bedroom design trends. Other fads for a tween bedroom include bright colors, geometric wall art, and modern furniture pieces. Storage space is an essential component of all teen girl room decoration so make sure to look for shelving units, trunks, and dressers. Search our online photo galleries for images of cool teenage girl bedrooms and creative storage ideas.

It all should be really cute when we are done. I need to get busy saving money to finish their rooms. Snowflakes room will go first. That was another concession for getting the smaller room. She gets her room done first.

Choosing the right rug for a tween space can be tough since their tastes change so frequently. While light-colored solid rugs are prone to showing spills, stains or dirt, textured solids are great for hiding imperfections. This black, white and gray wool rug helps tie the black and white accents of the color scheme together while also offering a soft underfoot surface.

We recently updated my 8 year old’s bedroom and Pinterest was a great source of inspiration for me. She has a small room and I wanted to make the most of the space and decorate it in a way that would see her through her pre-teen years. I’m a huge fan of white walls and light spaces that can be brought to life with a splash of colour and styled with a bit of black too – you can’t go wrong with monochrome! This picture inspired me when I was putting her room together. I love that there is a place of everything but it still looks stylish AND lived in. The monochrome styling mixed with the pops of colour and a few kitsch accessories all work so well together. Image Credit

Now onto Pumpkin’s room. As is glaringly obvious, we patched the holes in the walls and need to paint. This wall used to have my Grandma’s desk and at one time my treadmill. Now it has Pumpkin’s dresser and bed.

We’ve gathered our favorite decorating ideas for babies, kids, and teens—from a totally cute little girl’s room to a sophisticated teen hangout spot. Read on to discover our editors’ top ways to makeover any kid’s bedroom.

When it comes to teenage girls’ bedrooms, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution. If Mean Girls taught us anything, it’s that teen cliques/ groups/ squads have their own distinct style. And yes, this applies to your teenage girl’s bedroom design ideas as well as her wardrobe choices. If you have more than one teenage girl living at home, then chances are their ideas about decorating are quite different – while one wants brightly coloured walls, patterned accessories or vintage/ shabby-chic florals, the other will hone in on dark wall paint, edgy prints and pieces of rough-luxe design. So, if you’re wondering how to make the transition between princess-style little girls rooms and bedrooms for contrary teens, we figured that you might want a little decorating inspiration.

These five princesses are checking out some cool styles from the ‘60s. Help them create a bunch of awesome retro outfits that practically scream “flower power!” in this online dress up and pink mirror for girls room game for girls.

Industrial style bedrooms: The key traits of the industrial style bedrooms are raw elements and unfinished textures. Exposed brickwork is a popular choice for this particular style and truly characterises the utilitarian look. You can also paint brickwork white, for a brighter effect. Aged wood fits the industrial look well, as do exposed pipes and ducts for that warehouse look. Iron bed frames are effective and metal bedside tables and copper light shades compliment and add cohesion.

This is a bedroom we designed for Jaeden. It’s my favourite because it was transformed from a dull, and dark room to a bright, fresh and fun space! The room has subtle educational elements such as coloured 3D numbers and the hexagonal shaped shelving. During installation, Jaeden who was 3 at the time, learnt what a hexagon was. The book ledges are great for easy access to his books. He was fascinated by the monkeys which hung over his bed and referred to them as ‘monkeys jumping on the bed’. The room is practical with a trundle bed for future sleepovers. It has the quirky Kartell Componibili storage which acts as a bedside table. The walls are a neutral blue/grey that creates the perfect canvas for the pops of colour or allows for an easy makeover by changing the soft furnishings.

hi i am a 13 year old girl and i would just like to say that although i found loads of gr8 rooms i think that the room sizes are a bit big considering that i and all of my friends have very small bed rooms.

Brighten up a neutral children’s room with splashes of colour. Chunky pink letters are mounted on the wall and delicate butterflies hang from the ceiling, giving the scheme an extra girly touch. Keep clutter to a minimum with a storage unit in playful colours.

Definitely prefer the classic looking bedrooms to modern. Although the modern bedrooms look artistic and clean, they look too cold for my taste. I like soft, warm colors rather than bold and bright ones for bedrooms. I think it’s because brighter colors make me feel more awake, but when I am in a bedroom I want to relaxed and be calm. When I was a little girl I had a canopy bed — the hangings always made me feel like I was a princess in a fairytale or something. Fast forward 30 years later, and I still want to feel that way…my bedroom is decorated with Victorian accent pieces from LookInTheAttic. They restore heirloom pieces and do custom finishing. I am quite happy with my bedroom, but my daughter is the complete opposite from me — she wants to have bright pink polka dots all over her room. What do you say people? Should I give in?

Decorating a little girl’s room has never been more fun! With patterned bedspreads and brightly colored walls, here are our tips for creating the perfect room fit for the little princess in your home.

Your bedroom shouldn’t just be the place where you sleep. Ideally, the space should feel like somewhere you want to spend your free time. One easy way to achieve that is by adding a seating area that you can use when you don’t feel like lounging in bed.

Decoration ideas for teenage girls’ bedroom are very different from for child’s style and adult taste. Decorating a bedroom for a teenage girl can be challenging. Every teen girl has her own style and taste, and wants their room to look picture perfect. We should decorate her bedroom in the color scheme of their favorites and with various accessories which would reflect her interests, personality and hobbies.

I love the Scandi simplicity of this girl’s bedroom. Loft rooms are like a dream for most children – they are cosy, snug and a bit different. With this lovely white backdrop you can create a calm and uncluttered space – the mixture of white, pink and blue accessories make the room so modern. Current trends for girls’ bedrooms are veering away from the pink saturation approach of latter years, and moving towards something more creative and meaningful. You can decorate a room like this with slightly more nursery-like accessories to begin with and then up-style when your girl grows older. This can see your child through from baby, towards secondary school age – saving a fortune in decorating costs. On a final note, what’s not to love about the wonderful crepe lanterns and the cute lamb wall art?! Image Credit

I actuallly really like these rooms, there really neat. But in case you havn’t noticed alot of teen girls(or at least the ones i know), aren’t exactly up there on the money scale. i mean there not broke, but they cant go buy stuff like this for an affordable price. And usually the ones who can, well they dont use the internet for there bedroom ideas. They probably use the months top teen room magazine or somthing like that.lol I’m just saying, the girls that actually use this site for ideas probably wouldnt be able to use this stuff. Maybey a more realistic list of teen room would be better for our use. Besides real talent is making your room look amazing with a small bugdet. Being creative!

Your daughter’s nightly homework assignments will grow right along with her. Every school-age child needs a desk for study time. The simple desk fronted by a large bulletin board shown here is the perfect spot to study. But what really makes this room special is the adorable wall décor – and it’s a snap to duplicate. Just fill in the space over the headboard with a colorful and wonderfully patterned wallpaper. It’s an easy DIY, and you’ll probably only need one roll of paper.

These three cool royals have been invited to take part in the very first Princess Punk Street Style Contest. They’re each determined to win so they’ll need to come up with new looks that are big, bold, and all around awesome. Can you help all three of them choose a few piercings, temporary tattoos, edgy outfits, and more in this online game for girls?

Being a teen girl myself, I have to say this is not realistic whatsoever. I don’t know about all the other girls, but I would have liked something WITHOUT having to go out and buy everything new. That’s just my opinion, some of these were great to dream about..but not all of us could afford this.

Finding the space in one room for twice as much furniture and storage is one of the most daunting tasks when designing a shared room. This is where your resourcefulness and editing eye need to kick into high gear. Less is definitely more in a shared bedroom, as is multifunctional and shared design.

Creating a play area that both siblings can enjoy, even simultaneously, is super helpful, especially for tired mommies and daddies. Floor mats, cushions and soft larger items like a rocking horse and tents are perfect to outline the area and fun for both to play in. Place your older child’s toys in accessible storage containers, but higher than the floor so your youngest can’t easily touch it.

Keep yourself on track each day with a cool alarm or wall clock in your room. Match the colors of your clock to the colors in your bedding to instantly tie the entire room together. Or, pick a silver, white, black or gold clock to give your room a jeweled appearance. Set out a mini-fridge near your study zone, and you’ve instantly created a cozy learning corner that will encourage you to keep studying.

This is what was our playroom. I snapped a few shots right before we started moving furniture. While one of one of the most standard techniques is to position a bed with the head board flush versus a wall surface, you could wish to use a much more interesting method. One of the most popular techniques is to position the headboard of the bed in the edge of the room. This will make the bed the focal point of the area, which can be helpful if you have an intriguing headboard. Certainly, if you take place to have a beautiful view outside the window of your bedroom, it is likewise a good idea to position the bed so that it encounters the home window. This will certainly allow you to wake up every early morning to a motivating and rejuvenating view.

It is no surprise that children spend a lot of time in their bedroom. Used for sleeping, playing and working, it follows that their space should be a reflection of their little personalities. Still, as Yvadney Davis told The LuxPad in her guest post, it is easy to get lost in the world of children’s interiors. We asked 27 experts to showcase their favourite children’s bedroom and to help us recreate the look at home. Stylish, practical, fun, cosy and comfortable – our selection of children’s bedroom decorating ideas will keep the kids happy from toddler to teen and all ages in-between. In this DIY tutorial I also show several decor ideas for your desk, night stand or a dresser. One of these is a cactus with colored sand. You can buy already colored sand, or you can color it yourself using food coloring. This is such a fun and quick DIY decor idea and I love how it looks in the end. It also adds so much life to your teenage room.

If you thought a small master bedroom couldn’t be every inch the equal in elegance to those huge rooms you see on Pinterest or in glossy interior decorating magazines, one look at Steven Ford Interior’s gorgeous navy blue, cream, and gray bedroom will change your mind. Stunning.

I love how Martyn Lawrence Bullard combines vibrant colours with serenity and calm in this bedroom; a perfect setting for colour lovers, who want to wind down in a relaxed setting after a hard day’s work. The different textures, such as the fur throw and carpet provide a great contrast to the mirrored bedside tables, which makes the room dynamic and interesting. I also love the ethnic element (Ikat cushions) combined with the ‘Modern Glamour’ style, which gives the room a new dimension. And how great is the coffee table at the end of the bed? I don’t like bedside tables, that are full of books and magazines, so this provides a great stage option that prevents cluttering the room and at the same time looks great! Image credit

No teenage girl’s bedroom is complete without a vanity. This design is elegant and gorgeous while still maintaining a modern and sophisticated air. The intricately wrought Victorian-style mirror sets the basis for the Parisian flair further expounded upon with the Eiffel Tower sculpture and artwork, but still pairs well with the sleek lines of the minimalist vanity and drawers. A stylish floating bookshelf adds further storage area without overpowering the space and provides an ideal spot to place delicate decor items to further the feminine appeal, like flower accents.

An effortless way to bring color into a stark room is through the addition of flower-based art pieces. These can be made very painlessly at home with scrap wood, plastic flowers, wood letters, and a hot glue gun, letting you take control of the types and colors of flowers employed in your unique piece. Easy to customize brings another positive aspect: making multiple words in different shades and hues makes it simple and straightforward to swap out depending on your mood, the season, or the closest holiday. In a space that’s primarily made up of a neutral palette, these delicate and feminine designs bursting with life and color can drastically alter the feel of a room, bringing in a wealth of brightness and joy.

I have chosen this image because, as a Mum of 3-year-old boy and girl twins, this is such a great example of how to style a shared bedroom. Not only do the colours complement each other so well, but the room looks matched, even though it is for both sexes. The shelving is perfect for storing toys and books, and they can accessorize it with their own items. I am drawn to the simplicity of the design, and contemporary style especially as we now live in a modern new build home. My tips for styling a twins’ shared room is to keep it simple, use colour schemes that complement each other and involve the children in the process – as they usually like to have a say in what they prefer! It is a common belief that most girls are quite attracted to the color pink. So if you are thinking of decorating the room for your twin girls, you may want to include the color pink wherever possible. The floor carpet and the bed covers can be matched. You could also use a different, probably a lighter shade of pink for the walls and furniture. To add a bit of color, you may add white or something contrasting such as green. Adding polka dots in design on pillow covers or the rug may add an elegant edge to your twin teenage girls bedroom.

I’m so glad you could gain an idea or two from my pics! The shelving unit on top of the Trofast is another shelf from IKEA. I don’t remember which system it was from but I bet if you look at an IKEA or on their site you could find it. It was an add on shelf that I thought would work perfectly there from storing some of their larger items. My girls have adjusted to having their own space. They really like it. Though most Friday nights you will find them having a slumber party with their sister. 🙂

An easy way to add flair to any child’s room is with patterned accessories. This $350 playroom makeover comes to life with the addition of colorful and vibrant pillows. The feminine floral rug complements the pillows, and together they create a cheerful play space. Photo courtesy of ProjectNursery.com

This bedroom is striking to me. It surprises you…such a delicate balance of masculine and feminine. You can’t help but to appreciate the subtle design elements reflected within the context of this modern Asian-inspired scale and colour scheme ~ the mysteriousness of the asymmetrical bookcase, the delicateness in how the objects are placed, and the luxurious feel the dark-on-light furniture gives. I get a sense of warmth but refreshed at the same time. Finally, the artwork chosen seals the sentiment of this overall design composition. Simply put, I love it. Image credit

Create the illusion of more space by limiting the color palette. If you use similar hues on walls, furnishings and bedding, the bedroom appears larger. The lines between all the different elements will be blurred, and your eye will move effortlessly around the room. To add interest, inject a few pops of a contrasting color. Shoe horning three children into one bedroom is no mean feat and to pull it off this stylishly is quite a challenge. Three boys inhabit this small room; each has his own super cool platform bed suspended from ropes at differing levels, an individual wall light and artworks adorning their space. A colour palette of earthy grey looks wonderful teamed with natural wood and uplifting warm yellow. Every bed is identically dressed in crisp white linen and highlighted with a textural grey blanket and accented yellow cushion. Each child has an equal portion of the room so sharing should be a joy and not a trial. In fact, I can quite imagine these boys enjoying bed swapping every night! My top tips would be that when furnishing a small room, limit your palette of colours and materials – using too many will visually clutter a room and make it feel much smaller. The adage “less is more” is so true! Also, wall mounting furniture makes a room feel bigger – it’s all about being able to see under and around things that tricks the eye into thinking a space is bigger than it really is. Image Credit

Speaking of…under the bed storage such as rollaway drawers is always helpful in creating more space and can hold seasonal or limited use items. Storage chests with cushions can be used as a seat to a play table as well as conceal a mountain of toys. A wall unit with drawers can pull double duty as a dresser and desk.

Smart lighting choices have a big effect on how a small bedroom feels. Soft light coming from several different directions will blur the edges of your room and, in turn, make it feel larger. Helpful Hint: Soften up your overhead light. Use a frosted shade and a lower wattage bulb to create a more calming ambience. Photo courtesy by Erin Southwell.

Or, opt for a hollywood-style frame that supports the bottom of the bed and extends no further than the perimeter of the mattress. You can decorate the space above the bed with art, or add a headboard later.

I have always been very fond of vintage style – purely because of the character it brings to the room. What I love most about this room is first of all the white floor – very Scandinavian, the fireplace, the bed and last but not least; the floral bedding and curtains – adding life to the room. I can be here all day long, only thing that’s missing are French doors that open out to a cute balcony! Image credit

This is my masterpiece for Snowflake. I made this desk and shelving unit for her. I will have posts on how I made them for you next week, I think. She loves it and it provides a great place for her to complete her school work.

As a designer, there is nothing more important when telling the story of a shared space, then showing BOTH personalities of a room. It’s OK to break the rules. Symmetry isn’t always best. Meaning, and Intention on the other hand, is what great design is all about. It’s what I have built my entire Design Business on. Image credit

I absolutely adore decorating my children’s bedrooms from their nursery start to their teenage finish, as each stage requires something different. We are in the school-boy phase at the moment with my son so we wanted to create a bedroom for him that showcased his personality as much as his age. We chose a daybed here with underneath drawer storage for his clothes and a pull out bed to turn it into a double bed, if he had a sleepover. I like to choose a theme that won’t over-power a room and one that can grow with him too. We went for a red and navy theme with a London twist. I like to keep the bedrooms neutral and when it’s time to change the theme you don’t also have to change the wallpaper and furniture too. Kids enjoy space to roam free so I don’t like it to be cluttered too much with more furniture. My son doesn’t have a dresser as we have plenty of space in these drawers under his bed and in his wardrobe. This leaves more space for his toys and room to play. I think the best thing to do is think of how you can make the space functional for your little one that screams his/her personality but in a way they can love it and grow with it over the years with minimal changes.

Make tidying up more fun with pretty fabric storage boxes slotted into a white-painted unit. A large scale wall sticker picks up on the colours of the boxes to turn the storage area into a focal point.

All-out glamour, drama and expensive tastes: if that sounds like you (even if your budget is actually small), then you’ll drool over this tiny, perfect, luxe bedroom from RSVP Design Services. What makes it work? The limited color scheme, the reflections from the mirrors and metallics, and the lack of clutter. Perfect.

You can create a great view by adding several shelves to your wall, and avoid making them all aligned to each other and equal in size, instead, add a large one and then several smaller ones above. That would help create a nice view to your walls, especially if they are colored. These shelves will also give you a nice space on which you can organize your books, artwork, and little girly stuff.

The pink and cream in this room is a little girl’s dream. But the sophisticated armoire and chandelier mean that it will suit her for years to come, and can be easily updated by changing the bedding and accessories.

A colorful polka-dot theme gets a sophisticated update with splashes of neutral brown. The cheery spots pop up on the bedding and walls (create a similar look with wall decals). Add in a few chocolate-brown elements, such as throw pillows, and the room takes on a more mature look, perfect for girls growing into adolescence.

Sometimes, words of encouragement are exactly what you need to start the day smiling. Hang our wall art lettering up and remind yourself to stay happy as you shine through your day. Bling it up with flashy glitter letters in sayings like peace, or take it down a notch and just hang your name on the back of your bedroom door. Some options, like our heart-shaped cabinet, provide functionality too.
