A clean white or neutral base is ideal for teenage bedrooms, as it offers the opportunity to chop and change the look as quickly as teenage tastes and styles do! Opt for classic white furniture with a slender profile, as this will help reduce the sense of clutter. However, this sunny, pretty space is really all about the accessories; a bold bloom bedspread, hot pink accents, soft pastel lamps and prints and a tactile sheepskin throw on the chair ensure this space is modern and still playful.

Building your little girl a Princess Bedroom makes them feel loved and special, and it helps bring magic into their lives. And while fairytale princesses can make use of all of the realm’s gold to put together their dream bedrooms, you don’t need a huge budget to make pink fantasies come to life.

Next, think about what mood you want to evoke. Do you have trouble sleeping? Maybe opt for a calming blue. Do you want to set the mood for romance with your partner? Fuller, darker colours may be a better match then. Consider if you want to have a TV in your bedroom. If yes, do you want it on display or hidden? Or maybe you want to have a little office within your bedroom? You may be better off styling with neutral colours, but putting emphasis on the right inspiring artwork. In that case, you may also need to think of smart storage solutions so you can keep your workspace tidy and not let it interfere with your sleep. Have a browse through our images to get a feel for what appeals to you, and don’t forget to pay attention to lighting as well.

Designer Candice Olson created the ultimate girl’s getaway by turning a small bay window into the background for an inspiring workstation and craft area. The white built-in desk unit provides plenty of drawers, cubbies and cabinets for keeping supplies tucked away and out of sight. Dramatic magenta track curtains create an easy separation between workspace and sleep space.

Take a decorating tip from Lisa Teague Studios, and create interest in your small room by placing your bed at a slight diagonal. It’s even better when a pretty folding screen takes the place of a traditional headboard; the screen acts as a focal point for the room, drawing the eye upwards to increase the visual size of the space. Another use for a folding screen in the bedroom is as a privacy barrier around the bed. This is especially good in a studio apartment, or in a shared children’s…MORE bedroom.

Get a girly bedroom look, without going overboard on the pink palette that, if used in excess, can make a space look childish. Here a soft cherry-blossom pink is tempered by a neutral geometric wallpaper that stops half way up the wall, loose florals on white backdrops and soft fabric elements – such as the upholstered bed and cushions – in saturated colours.

If you thought a small master bedroom couldn’t be every inch the equal in elegance to those huge rooms you see on Pinterest or in glossy interior decorating magazines, one look at Steven Ford Interior’s gorgeous navy blue, cream, and gray bedroom will change your mind. Stunning.

Transitioning a kid’s bedroom to a tween’s bedroom could seem daunting — so whether you want to completely redo your daughter’s bedroom or you’re just looking to tweak an already awesome room to accommodate her (constantly) changing interests and amazing personality, we’ve got some inspiration for you.

I love the diversity in this post. You can find inspiration for everything – from cosy and snuggly bedrooms to dark and mysterious ones. Especially liked the one with the wall mural, feels like sleeping in the forest, out in the fresh and crisp air. I remember seeing a similar design but with rain clouds. I think natural wall murals bring peace and serenity to the bedroom.

Pink and green are the perfect duo in this little girl’s bedroom. Floral fabrics and jeweled accents add an innocent and youthful feel, while still emitting a mature and grown-up style. The miniature chair and ottoman provide a cozy spot to curl up with a good book before bedtime. To inspire organization, HGTV fan ssd used white wicker containers to hold toys and accessories.

A light, airy guest room gets a dose of vintage charm with an antique iron bed and canary prints from a 1951 picture book hung on the wall. Traditional accents keep the space feeling cozy and classic.

Looking for a whole new look for your teen’s bedroom? Start with plain, neutral furniture and introduce bold patterned bedlinen, cushions and throws. Folksy patterns like paisley provide a bright uplifting scheme, while neutral walls ensure the strong pinks and purples aren’t too overpowering.

Love the photos, really gave me some ideas on decorating my next flat. The bedroom in the new property is quite small but the walls are painted in a cream colour – will be easy to pick the right elements to decorate it. Since I’m a tenant, I’ll have to find non-destructive ways of decorating the place. I will also have to think how I’ll remove and clean the place when my tenancy comes to an end, but this isn’t a problem since London is full of shops and I have plenty of things to choose from.

Wow! Those are plentiful of brilliant and creative ideas, I can’t help myself not be amazed. All these DIY room decorations and furniture’s really inspire me. Beds can make a bedroom layout feel very linear and square. You can prevent this by placing a comfortable upholstered chair on an angle in the corner. This softens the corner of the room and encourages circulation. Add a small side table, some artwork and an ottoman, if there’s room, to make a cozy and inviting place to relax.

I have a thing for fairytales and so I always seek for that ‘happily ever after’ look in my home. With its tactile textures, warming beige tones and flowing covers, this bedroom is the epitome of a bed that’s fit for a princess and her prince – or me and my fiancé. It’s clear that the main focus of the room is the bed itself and so, as I believe that you can never have enough scatter cushions either, this scene truly is my ideal bedroom.

hi i am a 13 year old girl and i would just like to say that although i found loads of gr8 rooms i think that the room sizes are a bit big considering that i and all of my friends have very small bed rooms.

I love the Scandi simplicity of this girl’s bedroom. Loft rooms are like a dream for most children – they are cosy, snug and a bit different. With this lovely white backdrop you can create a calm and uncluttered space – the mixture of white, pink and blue accessories make the room so modern. Current trends for girls’ bedrooms are veering away from the pink saturation approach of latter years, and moving towards something more creative and meaningful. You can decorate a room like this with slightly more nursery-like accessories to begin with and then up-style when your girl grows older. This can see your child through from baby, towards secondary school age – saving a fortune in decorating costs. On a final note, what’s not to love about the wonderful crepe lanterns and the cute lamb wall art?! Image Credit

Looking for girls’ bedroom ideas? It’s always great decorating a kids’ bedroom and girls’ bedroom design can be a lot of fun, especially when moving on from the nursery. Like with boys’ bedrooms, there really are no rules – but it’s important to reflect her personality. So where to start? Here’s some inspiration…

There are few places where a teen can express themselves unabashedly. The bedroom is the top choice. The beauty of being a teenager is that the world is their oyster. Their favorite things are diverse and sometimes discordant, but with some planning, all ideas can tie together beautifully.

A smaller space doesn’t mean smaller furniture. “One of my pet peeves is miniature bedside tables. Especially next to a larger bed frame and mattress—tiny nightstands can look so dorky,” says Humphrey, who advises his clients to buy normal-size furnishings for small spaces. “It can actually make a small room look bigger and will be more useful and functional,” he adds. Humphrey also picks pieces that can do double duty and makes room for essential pieces. “In my own (small) bedroom I don’t have room for a dresser, so I have large nightstands with drawers that hold my clothes,” he says. “And even if it’s a tight fit, I always want at least a small chair in the corner (dining size can work in a pinch) or bench at the end of the bed as a catchall for clothes, pillows, or whatever garments get flung around before bed.”

We’ve already seen this design as a bed, but it’s more practical as a table lamp. This little gold carriage is the stuff fairytales are made of, and it’s definitely something girls will grow with and cherish. Via potterybarnkids.

This isn’t just any other pink canopy – it’s a layered, flower petal canopy. It’s quite a beautiful and special piece that is not overly difficult to make, so you should definitely turn up your sleeves and get to it. themodesthomestead.

Crystal Palecek, cofounder of Rue magazine, her husband, Andrew, had to adapt their cozy San Francisco home to accommodate their son, Benjamin. Space was limited, so the couple turned to an underutilized space — their cluttered walk-in — for the reno.

Anyone who reads my blog will know that I ADORE dark, moody, inky walls so this bedroom image caught my attention immediately! Pairing that gorgeous deep teal paint with the rose pinks gives the room a feminine touch without it being ‘too girly’. The off-centered image gives a quirky touch and the white frame contrasts beautifully against the dark background making the image pop all the more. The teal blanket beautifully ties in with the paint, brightening the space, and the marble print cushion adds texture and is perfectly on trend! This bedroom is a grown up, beautifully modern, luxurious space that I would love to sink into. The only thing I would change would be the size of the headboard, the bigger the headboard the better in my eyes! Image credit

There’s nothing like an in-house retreat to make a child’s room more fun. This girly teepee tent is small enough to include in interior spaces, while still providing ample space for her to sneak away into her own private hideaway. Design by Susie Fougerousse

I start with furniture painting. In this room decorations video I show how to easily transform your plain furniture. The pink and cream in this room is a little girl’s dream. But the sophisticated armoire and chandelier mean that it will suit her for years to come, and can be easily updated by changing the bedding and accessories.

Now this pillow isn’t nearly quite as simple. In fact, it is probably a lot of work to make and either glue or sew all these pink ruffles. It makes for a gorgeously detailed decorative throw pillow though. thegirlinspired.

This may seem obvious, but ditch the king-size (or even queen) bed and use space-saving furniture. If storage space is an issue, under-bed storage containers such as this one can free up a lot of space.

If you have young daughters sharing a bedroom, give each a say in how that room is decorated, but be prepared to step in as the final word. Some children like to personalize their section of the room; others like to match. Just be sure that each girl has an area to store her favorite possessions, and there is enough desk space for both to do homework at the same time. This adorable space from Finnian’s Moon Interiors uses a peaceful palette of green, blue, and soft gray.

When decorating a small bedroom, go for furniture with rounded edges. It will take up less floor space and help widen walkways. Half-circle nightstands and rounded ottomans with hidden storage compartments are the perfect small bedroom accessory.

I wanted this nursery to be a tranquil yet timeless space. The combination of subtle greys, soft pinks and white furniture is timeless and effortlessly stylish and ensures longevity. Taking inspiration from the vintage wallpaper tree art, I have accented this with brighter pinks and lime greens to punctuate the scheme and add freshness. The cotton curtains, have a playful embroidered band across the bottom featuring cats and birds, adding interest and fun to the scheme and contrasting well with the brighter pink linen blind. There is a useful mix of both open and closed storage. Contemporary pieces (such as the bunny nightlight and the grey acrylic storage stool) are mixed with vintage finds (including the wallpaper used for the tree and the antique children’s books) to create a unique room and one that complements the rest of the home. A sweet sanctuary.

If you’re looking for feng shui bedroom design ideas, then consider that it’s recommended you use warm earthy colors to create a welcoming environment, or softer blues and greens to create a tranquil ambiance. Bright colors, such as fuchsia and orange, are too stimulating in huge blocks, so use them as accents around the room to brighten up the space and provide hints of passion, an important part of a romantic bedroom.

I’m the oldest girl and got the smallest room. However, it was the most private and I could easily come and go without disturbing anyone, even my light sleeping mother. I was also the only kid ever remotely responsible enough to have that room. I did cross country in fall, speech and debate in winter, and soccer in spring, plus theatre when possible. I was out early in the mornings (most, I went running at 5 am) and had nights getting home at 11:30 or later. Granted, my room was navy and black. Yes, it was a dark pit.

I adore a nursery that is simple, bright and happy – this space in Australia made me smile the second I spotted it. From the clean white walls (that can be easily touched up when the toddler years start!), bold illustrations on the walls, to the cosy chair with cool cushions for feeding or cuddles, it’s my idea of a gorgeous room. I love that midcentury style cabinet with it’s display of vintage toys and fun artwork. It also offers a useful storage solution for all those little things that constantly need tidying away. If I was going to be decorating a baby’s room again, this is a look I would be completely inspired by. It’s perfect for a girl or a boy and a space that they can grow into too. The only thing I would be looking to add is something hanging from the ceiling. Babies love to look up, so a mobile or a garland would be great above the cot. Image Credit

Art is often overlooked in children’s and tween’s rooms; however, it can completely change the space and serve as a source of inspiration for the rest of the decor. This room was designed for a tween who was named after legendary bluegrass singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams. Commissioning an artist to draw an original portrait of the singer and having it professionally framed not only added a feeling of individuality to the room, it served as the inspiration for the room’s violet, black, white and gold palette.

I’m really into using dark colours in the bedroom. It creates such an intimate vibe and I find it incredibly relaxing, plus it’s super sophisticated and very glamorous! The designer did a great job in creating a room that incorporates beautiful traditional elements like the panelling and mouldings, but brings it up to date with bold lighting and metallics. To make this room more ‘me’ I’d add a few more POP art elements, calm accent colours and a bit of street chic with the accessories. Image credit

Geometric details like the striped rug and check curtains complement the adventure-inspired gallery wall. New cabinets add tons of toy storage and a bright yellow slipcover transforms an old futon from the basement.

Another decorating idea of incorporating low maintenance plants into your room is a bamboo stick in a vase full of colored stones. Simply hold the bamboo in a vase and pour in layers of colored stones. I love this room decorating idea as it is so easy and brings so much life to any big or small room.

With casual yet comfortable decor, a simple bedroom will make your guests feel right at home. Mount swing-arm sconces inside bedposts to provide easy reading light, and use lighter wall colors such as aqua to soothe.

A traditional style, like the British colonial look shown here, doesn’t have to be stuffy. A few shots of color, interesting artwork and accessories, and a pretty upholstered headboard give this classic look fresh sensibilities. Plus, leaning a large mirror against the wall is a great way to add visual size to a small room.

My favourite minimal bedroom. A tranquil but bright space, painted floor-to ceiling in white. All the texture is in the layering of the fabrics, the crumpled linen and the tactile woollen throw. A simple bedside table holds a few bedroom essentials, with an unobtrusive light above for reading and one stunning picture is the focal point. Perfection. Image credit

Most of the time, a small bedroom means an equally small closet. A great solution to this common concern is incorporating built-in storage around the head of the bed, as in this serene space designed by Chris Ebert of Normandy Remodeling. If built-ins aren’t an option, look for bookcases that fit in the space instead.

In a girl’s bedroom with plenty of bold colors and prints, scale back the wall color to invite serenity into the space. Look for a white with undertones of a color used in the room. Here, a white with a pink cast provides a break in the action while blending with the room’s cheeky pink accents. The little girl’s bedroom furniture provides a stark difference to the pastel walls.

Hot, tropical colours will make for an energetic bedroom – it might help the girl who lives in it get out of bed faster in the morning, but then again… Hot pinks and deep oranges blend beautifully, while citrus yellow accents, such as the bed frame, and crisp white bed linen cut through the red-based hues to add a fresh hit to the overall look.

Every room needs a splash of pattern. In this trendy pre-teen room, an accent of cheerful lavender wallpaper pops perfectly against crisp white furniture and built-ins. The pattern is repeated in the window coverings in the room. Colorful pillows and bedding pull in more colors from the girl’s bedroom wallpaper and tie the color scheme together. Finally, the area rug packs the last punch in this busy, but cohesive room. With wallpaper and patterns as fun as this, there’s no need for girl’s bedroom wall decor.

However, I am not a fan of brown colour on anything else than wood. I see that most of the pictures here portray white bedrooms… the least appropriate colour for a bedroom in my opinion.

Anna Potter’s bedroom is everything that I look for in a place to sleep.  Warm, calm, welcoming and homely. The dark grey walls and bed linen have a sense of calm, like a gentle hug, welcoming you to bed.  The oversized vintage map above adds a sense of drama and no need for a headboard.  The room is filled with history, a hand-me-down chest of draws, holiday souvenirs, and the owners own artwork on the walls.  A vintage, comfortable and stylish space.  I could sleep there quite happily. Image credit

The dream bedroom for teens, back comforter with large pink flowers on it and gold stars on the wall. Where did that comforter and sham set come from?? M daughter loves it and I cannot seem to find anything similar. Beautiful room!

On paper, this room shouldn’t be lovely at all – tiny, with barely any room for even a bed, and crammed with bright colours and clashing patterns. But in reality, this space, which I shot for my book Home for Now, is actually one of my favourite bedrooms I’ve ever worked in. This gorgeous sea green hue breathes life into this bijou space, whilst ingenious storage ideas, such as using a wall-mounted telephone table instead of a bedside unit, and hanging storage pockets on the wall, make best use of the available space. It proves that if you have courage in your design convictions, you can make anything work, whatever the challenge. Image credit

Yeah, I also got a tip, too; When trying to create to perfect living space, think about what hobbies and intrests you love, this can help you! –And also pick your favourite colour(s) to match together a harmony and

And the social aspect of a room is big. A survey of global teenagers by smartgirl.org found that the #1 thing a teen would add to their room is a poster of themselves with their friends. Work with your teen to creatively address the following areas in their room:

We’ve already seen this design as a bed, but it’s more practical as a table lamp. This little gold carriage is the stuff fairytales are made of, and it’s definitely something girls will grow with and cherish. Via potterybarnkids.

White on white is the perfect space for the perfect night’s sleep. Crisp white bed linen, with the softest of pillows and the lightest of duvets. Cosy throws to keep those toes warm in the colder months. Pure and simple paired back detailing to showcase the natural beauty of the walls and floor that frame the space you are in.

Once the basics are in place, decorating is where the fun begins. Choose a feature to be the focus of your room. That can be a beautifully upholstered headboard, a fancy mirror, a few indoor plants, or simple and clean white bedding combined with a fluffy rug.

We asked and both girls, of course, wanted the larger room. Uh-oh. Now I have to make a tough choice. In the end, I’m not sure I made the right choice, but I think I would probably think that if I had made the opposite choice. I just don’t like disappointing my girls.

Most people want their bedroom to be a soothing, restorative retreat. If that’s your goal, then consider green and white for your palette. Add in botanical touches in the bedding, as in the room from Viscusi Elson Interior Design shown here, along with a showstopper sunburst mirror, stylish Roman shades, and cottage-casual white furniture, and the result is a room that calms your mind and refreshes your senses. Beautiful.

While a two-color scheme is simple, sometimes adding a third color can make a kid’s room sing. This also lets you incorporate a favorite, of-the-moment color. In this girl’s bedroom idea, bedding with the room’s pink and green scheme features a bit of blue, which also makes a splash on the storage boxes atop the dresser.

. There are a number of different layout components as well as accent pieces that can be incorporated into a young boy’s bedroom, including mounted posters of favored film as well as anime characters. Here’s a small bedroom idea with staying power: Hang window treatments closer to the ceiling to make a room feel taller. Don’t believe us? Have a partner hold up curtains to give it a try. It’s amazing to see the instant change such a small fix can make.

I wish I had designed this room – I love everything about it. The bleached natural pine floorboards and tall white walls are a perfect canvas for those pretty vintage pieces and more colourful toys. With a restrained colour palette like this, a child’s room always look stylish, no matter how messy it is. I love kids’ rooms that aren’t filled with matching furniture sets from children’s ranges. Finding meaningful, beautiful pieces gives kids’ rooms personality – it takes time, but this is how the best interiors develop, organically. Quirky details such as the hat collection add fun, whilst the unexpectedly small and contrasting orange pendant adds punch to this calm monochrome scheme. Give your daughter the royal treatment with a canopied four poster, and pick up on her interests, if she’s a music lover work in the theme (just don’t overkill it as kids can be notoriously prone to changing their minds!).

Blending several personalities and decorating styles in a shared bedroom can be tricky. Keep the space looking cohesive by choosing one bedding style for every bed. In this room, compromise was key in the planning stages—especially when it came down to girls’ bedroom colors. One girl who loves bright, bold colors got her way with a stand-out painted ceiling, while her sister scored with neutral walls and a patterned rug. Shared girl’s room decor can make everyone happy with a little compromise.

Be bold with pattern mixing in a little girl’s bedroom accessories to create a space with youthful energy. Like in other rooms, keep scale in mind and mix large, small, and medium-scale patterns to achieve balance. A favorite poem becomes art in this little girl’s room. And you don’t have to be an artist to create your own word art. Look for stencils and wall decals at crafts stores and online. Make sure the color of the lettering contrasts with the wall color to ensure your message will read loud and clear.

I’m drawn to minimalist interiors because I find space, clean lines and simplicity extremely calming. For me, a bedroom should be clear of clutter. Like a blissful sanctuary to escape to at the end of a busy day. I love the elegance of this room, the grey bed, bedding and classic chair give it character. While the glass doors bring a little bit of the outside in. It’s a stunning space and I’m sure it’s an uplifting room to wake up in. Image credit

Using mirrors will add depth and dimension to a small bedroom because of their unique ability to act like additional windows.

I know people think it’s calming and minimalism is all the rage now, but I don’t think I could sleep in an all-white room, says Humphrey. I generally like cooler colors in a bedroom, though—blues and grays as opposed to warm tones. Black and white always works and can be a good foundation (like in a patterned area rug) to layer in some color. I think everyone would be a little happier if they had some pops of color in their bedrooms.

For a more modern-day and also trendy appearance you could additionally wish to think about a leather futon. Storage is key in small spaces, especially in the bedroom where most of your belongings are kept. When you don’t have a lot of space, you have to be creative with your storage. For example, you can use under-bed storage boxes to stash out-of-season clothing away and custom shelving to store things like shoes and books. You can even place a storage ottoman at the foot of your bed for extra seating and storage.

Wall colors for Ems room – I’m thinking of aqua walls, black furniture and a black/white bed spread. Oh, and my bed is white, and the closet doors and bedroom door will be white. I’m thinking it will work, after seeing this room.
